CHILD CARE CHILD CARE (CONT.) SCHOOL AGE LICENSED CHILD CARE (CONT.) SNACKS Menus are created to meet our healthy eating guidelines and be appealing to children. We strive to improve nutrition and offer variety. Providing pleasant mealtime experiences is key in promoting healthy eating habits. A morning and an afternoon snack are provided daily at scheduled times. Menus are available at child care sites upon request. ACTIVITIES Children are like sponges - they watch and absorb knowledge, skills and values from everything and everyone around them. At the Y, we believe the values and skills learned early on are vital building blocks for quality of life and future success. At the Y, school-age kids make friends, learn new skills and do homework. Most importantly, children learn how to be their best selves. Specific activities are different for each location and age group, but all locations feature:

 Academic support from caring role models  Physical activity and movement  Free-Choice/Open Centers  Healthy Snack  Group Time  30-minute Outdoor Time; weather permitting  Projects and Activities in Arts, STEM, Literacy, and Cooking

SWIM, SPORTS & PLAY SPORTS LEAGUES The Y is the starting point for many youth to learn about becoming and staying active, and developing healthy habits they’ll carry with them throughout their lives. Plus, the benefits are far greater than just physical health. Whether it’s gaining the confidence that comes from learning a new skill or building the positive relationships that lead to good sportsmanship and teamwork, participating in sports at the Y is about building the whole child, from the inside out. The YMCA approach to Youth Sports is different from many leagues. We focus on the four YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. Every child gets equal playing time and we encourage fair play, positive competition, and family involvement. Our goal is to enable each player to excel in that other game we’re all familiar with: the game of life.

End of Season Awards included with each league. All leagues are coached by volunteers; if you are interested in coaching one of our teams let us know!

INDOOR SOCCER LEAGUE Ages 3-9 This is a Saturday Only league with the first two Saturdays as practices, and the following six Saturdays will be games. This fast paced program has lots of scoring and is fun for all players. Game times will vary each week. 3/4 and 5/6 year old divisions will play games in the morningearly afternoon and the 7/9 year old division will play in the afternoon. Games will be held at the Mill Creek YMCA. Season:

October 28-December 16

September 1-October 8

Why Indoor Soccer? Indoor Soccer is just like soccer played outside, with one exception; it’s played in a gym. However, the advantages are many: You’re playing soccer in a controlled environment, meaning no RAIN! You are much closer to the action, you get to see everything as it happens and as it develops. The playing field (or court in this case) is shorter and narrower and the walls give the players even more of a chance to score because of the bounces and non-stop action!

Teams will practice once a week and play a game on Fridays or Saturdays. Season begins January 8 Registration Opens: October 1 Facility Member Fee: Program Member Fee:

SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY Giving back and supporting our neighbors is part of what makes the Y the Y. We’re a community and we lend a hand where we can.

GAINING CONFIDENCE & LEARNING LIFE SKILLS

SOCIAL SERVICES FINANCIAL SUPPORT Financial assistance keeps the Y available for kids and families who need us most. We count on the generosity of our members and community to help people of all ages and from all walks of life be more healthy, confident, connected, and secure. When you give to the Y, your gift will have a meaningful, enduring impact right in your own neighborhood. The Y’s Financial Assistance Program is supported by contributions to our Annual Campaign and United Way. YOUTH MEMBERSHIP AT REDUCED COST Ages 10+ The Y is for everyone. Youth Memberships at reduced cost are available to teens who are eligible for free or reduced-price lunches at school. Turn in your Youth Membership application with:

 

School District letter of eligibility for the free/reduced lunch program, or from a school counselor confirming eligibility. Payment of $17 or $34, based on free or reduced status.

MILITARY OUTREACH INITIATIVE We understand that military families are under enormous strain. Title 10 personnel are eligible for a Y membership. You and your family can spend quality time together and enjoy fun activities in a warm, supportive environment. Visit ymca.net for more information. FOOD BANKS We collaborate with the Mill Creek Food Bank to collect food year round, school supplies in the fall, and toys to help with the holidays. We have a collection bin located in the breezeway of our main entrance. BIG BROTHERS BIG SISTERS We partner with BBBS to provide a donation drop for clothing and our annual toy drive during the holidays. You can find the purple clothes drop box located on the south side of our parking lot.

Our love of the Y began when Maddie was 5 and needed help following directions. In ballet, her confidence soared. At 7, in gymnastics, she worked through her awkward phase. At 8, she took swim lessons and joined karate for discipline and focus. When she was 9, and our family started growing, we started sending her to Sky-Y camp; there she learned how to navigate friendships and the importance of teamwork. Now at 11 years old, she loves to swim and practice for her belts, more importantly, she’s gained confidence and learned life skills that will continue to help her in the hard middle and high school years to come. The Y has become a haven for our whole family through the years, and we attend daily because it’s a safe place for our kids to be kids - to grow, learn, and play. - Claire M.

SOCIAL RESPONSIBLITY IMPACTING TOMORROW TOGETHER Did you know that the Y has an Endowment Fund and if you pledge support to the fund you are a member of our Heritage Club? Did you know this opportunity is available to everyone, at any age and income level? All you need is a passion for the Y and a desire to support the Y into the future. Making a gift or pledge to the Endowment Fund is easy and often doesn’t require any upfront cash outlay. Members of the YMCA Heritage Club are individuals and families who have made a designated gift or pledge to the YMCA of Snohomish County Endowment Fund, ensuring the Y’s ability to be a positive force in the community for years to come. Heritage Club members share a common desire to build a strong future through the work of the Y.

TOGETHER, WE CAN BUILD A BETTER US As a cause-driven charitable organization, the Mill Creek YMCA is dedicated to nurturing the potential of every child and teen, improving our community’s health and well-being and giving back by providing support to our neighbors. We offer many programs and services, but for some people, these services may not be attainable because of the cost. The Mill Creek YMCA makes sure that these services are available to everyone regardless of income or financial circumstances. Funds raised through the Annual Campaign make it possible for children, families and adults to have access to Y programs that improve their lives. Together, we can build a better us. Our 2017 Annual Campaign has come to an end and our community pulled together to raise over $158,000 to provide anyone the opportunity to participate in life changing Y programs regardless of their ability to pay. We couldn’t have done this without the support of all our committed volunteers and generous donors!

THE MILL CREEK YMCA ANNUAL CAMPAIGN: RAISES Awareness and funds for our financial assistance program. ENABLES Participation of hundreds of children and families in the Y membership, programs, summer camp and before/after school child care. ALLOWS The Y to provide financial assistance to anyone who would not be able to afford our programs and services. BROADENS Our reach into enriching community wellness and health.
