MEMBERSHIP INFORMATION NOW IT’S EASIER THAN EVER TO JOIN THE Y! Membership in the Y is a special thing. Be a part of a leading nonprofit organization for youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The YMCA of Snohomish County is a membership organization and anyone can join. So, with simple monthly dues, you have no contracts or minimum stays to worry about and no sales pitches to endure. Just quality, healthy programs that your whole family can enjoy.
MEMBERSHIP TYPES FACILITY MEMBERSHIP Get full access to fitness centers at all six YMCAs in Snohomish County with a Facility Membership. Choose from a wide menu of free group exercise classes, enjoy lap and recreational swimming, and receive a free wellness orientation when you join. And as a facility member, you’ll be eligible for priority registration and reduced fees on specialty classes and programs for your whole family. PROGRAM MEMBERSHIP If you’re not already a Y Facility Member and want to participate in programs like summer camps, youth sports, swimming lessons and child care, you’ll need an annual Program Membership. You’ll receive the same great level of quality and caring for which the Y is known, but without access to wellness centers and other amenities offered through a full Facility Membership. COMMUNITY MEMBERSHIP Belonging is a philosophy at the heart of the Y. Everyone in the community is considered a free Community Member and is welcome to participate in key community events and programs such as fun runs, health fairs, and community education. NATIONWIDE MEMBERSHIP Nationwide Membership enables Y members to visit any participating YMCA in the United States. It is valid for active, full facility members. Nationwide members must visit their home Y at least 50% of the time. Program-only participants are not eligible for Nationwide membership. To find a Y in another location, visit ymca.net. GENERAL INFORMATION OUR MISSION To inspire, nurture, and strengthen culturally vibrant communities through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. MEMBERSHIP CARD Your membership card is valuable and important. A valid membership card or photo ID is required every time you enter the Y. If you lose your card, you can get a replacement for a small fee. You can also create a digital card to scan at the branch with our mobile app. GUESTS Your membership includes 12 complimentary guest passes per year, stored electronically on your membership account, is good for one redemption at any branch of the YMCA of Snohomish County, and admits one person or one family to join you at the Y. At busy times, the Y reserves the right to limit guest usage. All guests must present photo identification and adhere to facility guidelines. A guest may use Y facilities up to three times in one calendar year with a member. Thereafter, a day pass or membership must be purchased. Y ACCESS FOR ALL We believe everyone deserves a Y experience, the YMCA of Snohomish County offers membership and program pricing based on income to individuals and families to ensure everyone has access tot eh Y. No join fee, no documentation, no waiting, and no barriers. Join us right away. Ask a staff member about Y Access For All. PAYMENT OPTIONS Bank draft and credit card payments are a convenient way to pay membership fees and ensure your membership is current. New membership activation requires a one-month payment of membership dues and pro-rated monthly fees at time of enrollment as well as banking account information or a credit card. Annual payments are perfect for members who want to pay for their membership one year at a time. This option requires payment of 12 months at time of enrollment. LEAVE OF ABSENCE Members may have their membership held in abeyance once per calendar year upon 15 days advance written notice if membership dues are current. A minimum abeyance of 60 days and a maximum abeyance of 120 days is permitted. Membership will be automatically activated after a term of abeyance expires.
AWAY PROGRAM The AWAY (Always Welcome at YMCAs) program allows you to access Ys around the country when visiting from out of town. Just show your valid Y membership card. This program is good for 12 visits per calendar year. PROGRAM REFUND GUIDELINES The following guidelines are for programs that do not have required deposits (which are non-refundable). Special restrictions apply to Camp, Child Care, Membership and other programs that are clearly stated in their brochures and registrations. Program Directors have the final say to make any allowances other than the following:
Cancelling a program 1 week prior to first day of the program start date=100% full refund less a minimum of a $5 service fee may apply
Cancelling a program after the program start date = refunds will be prorated less a minimum of a $5 service fee may apply
Cancelling a program half-way or more after the program start date = no refund.
TALK TO US This is your Y. Please make your concerns and comments known! Member suggestion cards are available throughout the facility and at Member Services. We pledge to acknowledge each comment and respond appropriately. If you prefer to email or telephone your comment, please contact the Membership Director. GET STARTED An easy first step to getting started at the Y is to contact Member Services for a free wellness connection within your first 30 days of membership. A trained Y professional will meet with you to discuss your goals, answer any questions you may have, and recommend appropriate wellness programs for you. FACILITY GUIDELINES • Ages 6 and under must have direct supervision at all times. • Ages 7-11 must be accompanied by a supervising individual who
remains in the building. • Ages 12 & 13 are not required to be accompanied by a
supervising individual but are subject to age restrictions for specific areas. • Ages 14 and older are considered adults only for the purpose of
use of the facilities and programs.

GENERAL INFORMATION ELECTRONIC USAGE GUIDELINES Due to the advances in mobile and video technology, and for the privacy and protection of all our members, the YMCA of Snohomish County asks that members, participants, and guests adhere to the following guidelines. • Use of electronic devices is not permitted - at any time - in Y
locker rooms and youth program areas. • As a courtesy to other members, please set phones to silent while
working out. • Please limit phone conversations to the lobby or non-workout
areas. • Taking photos or video without permission from the Executive
Director is not permitted on Y premises. FOOD AND BEVERAGES No food or drink other than water is permitted in the pool, workout and gym areas. Please limit food items in the Child Watch/Adventure Zone to small grab and go snacks. SMOKE-FREE ENVIRONMENT In keeping with Y’s health and wellness advocacy, smoking is not permitted on Y’s facility or grounds. All YMCA’s of Snohomish County properties are smoke-free environments.
ATTIRE As a family organization, the YMCA of Snohomish County encourages members and their guests to maintain an appearance that is not disruptive, distracting, nor offensive in any regard and to wear attire that does not present health or safety concerns. Accordingly, Y staff may restrict appearance and attire with special consideration for those specific issues. These guidelines are meant for example purposes and may not be inclusive of all expectations. Not permitted Clothing and jewelry that carry sexual, vulgar, or offensive messages or references, including pictures of the use of alcohol, tobacco, drugs, and gang affiliation.
Any apparel item that can be used as a weapon.
Jeans are not permitted in workout areas.
Required in workout areas Closed-toe athletic shoes.
Shirts or workout tops.
Eye guards are required in racquetball courts.
Proper swim attire is required in the pool and spa areas.
LOCKERS Lockers are available for day use by members and guests. You must bring your own lock and remove it at the end of each visit. Items left overnight will be removed from the locker room and placed in the lost and found. Always secure your belongings. We recommend that you not bring valuables into the facility; the Y is not responsible for lost or stolen items. Security lockers for small items are available at no cost. COURT RENTALS Courts may be reserved up to a day in advance by calling Member Services or in person. Reservations are encouraged to guarantee your desired time. There is a one hour reservation limit per person during peak usage times. Racquets, balls, and eye protection can be checked out with your membership card.

Program curriculum includes extended learning opportunities such as homework support, literacy development, games, sports, arts/crafts, cooking, drama, service learning, and science activities. With fun monthly themes and dinner provided you can be sure you and your children will have a great night out! Registration ends at 4 pm the Friday before the event. HOME ALONE SAFETY Kids think they are ready to stay home alone and parents wonder if its ok to let them. This three-hour home alone class will teach students: responsibilities when staying home, simple first aid and abdominal thrusts for choking victims, how to navigate the online world, fire safety and what to do around an aggressive dog. We’ll also discuss the truth behind abuse, abduction, and stranger danger. All participants will receive the Safe Kids 101 book.

ADAPTIVE PROGRAMS ADAPTIVE PROGRAMS MIRACLE LEAGUE BASEBALL
Miracle League Baseball is designed for individuals requiring additional assistance to play. This program is adapted to be an inclusive, stress free, non-competitive game, where everyone hits, everyone runs bases, and everyone gets home. Buddies are provided for all players while on the field. Parents may sit in the stands to watch and cheer for their player. MIRACLE TEAM BOWLING Miracle Team Bowling takes place at Bowlero Lanes in Lynnwood. There are ramps available and bumpers in the gutters. Those who need assistance are provided a buddy. This program begins in January.
ADAPTIVE SWIM Each Sunday noon-2 pm, the pool is open to all families and children with special needs, free of charge. Adults 18 and over need to show photo ID.
ADAPTIVE COOKING Make and exchange cookies for the holidays with your friends. This activity is for older teens and young adults to enjoy social time together, while working as a team to follow cookie recipes, decorate cookies, clean-up and share the wonderful things each team made together.
ADAPTIVE KARATE Isshinryu karate taught, an Okinawan style that does not use any kicks above the knee. All abilities welcome. The class will focus on the development of the student’s personal integrity. Designed to inspires confidence, physical fitness, self-discipline and focus. Escapes and protection is taught but the class does not include aggressive techniques or sparring. Parents are encouraged to participate along-side their child and provide necessary assistance during class. This class is typically offered in the summer.

Open to all ages and a great class for those recovering from injuries. SilverSplash®: SilverSplash® offers LOTS of fun and shallow water moves to improve agility, flexibility, and cardiovascular endurance. A special kickboard is used to develop strength, balance and coordination. No swimming ability is required.

Meditation offers innumerable benefits for your body, mind and spirit. WELLNESS YOGA The class is done mostly seated, and focuses on mobility needs: increasing balance, core strength, joint mobility, movement pattern fluidity, nervous system and mind body connections. Catering to age related issues, people with Parkinson’s Disease, MS, and anyone who just wants to stay moving with stability, peace, and ease. Everyone is welcome, the class is open to the whole community, and is a community itself!

During the 90 days members will have an opportunity to select one of three exclusive programs only offered at the Monroe YMCA where they will work with not only our amazing Wellness staff but also build relationships within our community. LIVESTRONG® AT THE YMCA LIVESTRONG at the YMCA is a small-group program developed and established in partnership with the LIVESTRONG Foundation, to assist those who are living with, through or beyond cancer to strengthen their spirit, mind, and body. Primary goals of the program include increased strength, cardio vascular endurance, and flexibility while improving energy levels, which will enhance functional ability to do everyday tasks. Recent research from the Yale Cancer Center and Dana-Farber/Harvard Cancer Institute confirmed that LIVESTRONG at the YMCA participants experience improved fitness and quality of life as well as significant decreases in cancer-related fatigue. YMCA’S DIABETES PREVENTION PROGRAM
Prediabetes is a condition in which individuals have blood glucose levels that are higher than normal, but not high enough to be classified as diabetes. People with prediabetes are at high risk of developing type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and stroke.
If you are at high risk for type 2 diabetes, the YMCA’s Diabetes Prevention Program can help you adopt and maintain healthy lifestyles that will help you reduce your chances of developing diabetes.

The YMCA’s Diabetes Prevention Program helps those at high risk of developing type 2 diabetes adopt and maintain healthy lifestyles by eating healthier, increasing physical activity and losing a modest amount of weight in order to reduce their chances of developing the disease. Research by the National Institutes of Health has proven that programs like the YMCA’s Diabetes Prevention Program can reduce the number of cases of type 2 diabetes by 58%.
PROGRAM GOALS:
Reduce body weight by 7%
Increase physical activity to 150 minutes per week
DETAILS: In a classroom setting, a trained lifestyle coach will facilitate a small group of participants in learning about healthier eating, physical activity and other behavior changes. The year-long program consists of 25 sessions over the course of one year. The group will meet every week for 16 weeks, followed by three bi-weekly classes, then six months of follow-up with one session per month. WHO CAN PARTICIPATE? In order to qualify for the program, you must be at least18 years old, overweight (BMI > 25)* and at high risk for developing type 2 diabetes indicated by a confirmatory blood value†, prediabetes determined by clinical diagnosis of Gestational Diabetes (GDM) during previous pregnancy, or a qualifying risk score. SOCIAL SERVICES Y COMMUNITY Y Community provides free or reduced-fee activities to families in partnered emergency and transitional shelters. Activities vary from the YMCA and other locations. Register with your caseworker or the Community Coordinator. Y community programs are made available through community Annual Campaign donations. Contact member services if you would like to make a gift to support future programming. YOUTH MEMBERSHIP The Y is for everyone. Youth Memberships are available to teens who are eligible for free or reduced-price lunches at school. The Y’s Financial Assistance Program is supported by contributions to our Annual Campaign and United Way. And finally, the Y could not survive without the dedication of our volunteers. From youth tutors to committee members, teen mentors to fundraisers, board members to fitness instructors, volunteers lend their time, talents, and energy to help strengthen our community.
