MEMBERSHIP INFORMATION NOW IT’S EASIER THAN EVER TO JOIN THE Y! Membership in the Y is a special thing. Be a part of a leading nonprofit organization for youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The YMCA of Snohomish County is a membership organization and anyone can join. So, with simple monthly dues, you have no contracts or minimum stays to worry about and no sales pitches to endure. Just quality, healthy programs that your whole family can enjoy.

MEMBERSHIP TYPES FACILITY MEMBERSHIP Get full access to fitness centers at all six YMCAs in Snohomish County with a Facility Membership. Choose from a wide menu of free group exercise classes, enjoy lap and recreational swimming, and receive a free wellness orientation when you join. And as a facility member, you’ll be eligible for priority registration and reduced fees on specialty classes and programs for your whole family. PROGRAM MEMBERSHIP If you’re not already a Y Facility Member and want to participate in programs like summer camps, youth sports, swimming lessons and child care, you’ll need an annual Program Membership. You’ll receive the same great level of quality and caring for which the Y is known, but without access to wellness centers and other amenities offered through a full Facility Membership. COMMUNITY MEMBERSHIP Belonging is a philosophy at the heart of the Y. Everyone in the community is considered a free Community Member and is welcome to participate in key community events and programs such as fun runs, health fairs, and community education. NATIONWIDE MEMBERSHIP Nationwide Membership enables Y members to visit any participating YMCA in the United States. It is valid for active, full facility members. Nationwide members must visit their home Y at least 50% of the time. Program-only participants are not eligible for Nationwide membership. To find a Y in another location, visit ymca.net. CORPORATE MEMBERSHIP As part of the YMCA’s corporate membership plan, employees will enjoy the benefits of belonging to Snohomish County’s largest and most respected health, wellness, and human service organization. GENERAL INFORMATION OUR MISSION To inspire, nurture, and strengthen culturally vibrant communities through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.

MEMBERSHIP CARD Your membership card is valuable and important. A valid membership card or photo ID is required every time you enter the Y. If you lose your card, you can get a replacement for a small fee. You can also create a digital card to scan at the branch with our mobile app.

Cancelling a program half-way or more after the program start date = no refund.

GUESTS Your membership includes unlimited complimentary guest passes, stored electronically on your membership account, is good for one redemption at any branch of the YMCA of Snohomish County, and admits one person or one family to join you at the Y. At busy times, the Y reserves the right to limit guest usage. All guests must present photo identification and adhere to facility guidelines. A guest may use Y facilities up to three times in one calendar year with a member. Thereafter, a day pass or membership must be purchased. Y ACCESS FOR ALL We believe everyone deserves a Y experience, the YMCA of Snohomish County offers membership and program pricing based on income to individuals and families to ensure everyone has access to the Y. No join fee, no documentation, no waiting, and no barriers. Join us right away. Ask a staff member about Y Access For All. PAYMENT OPTIONS Bank draft and credit card payments are a convenient way to pay membership fees and ensure your membership is current. New membership activation requires a one-month payment of membership dues and pro-rated monthly fees at time of enrollment as well as banking account information or a credit card. Annual payments are perfect for members who want to pay for their membership one year at a time. This option requires payment of 12 months at time of enrollment.

LEAVE OF ABSENCE Members may have their membership held in abeyance once per calendar year upon 15 days advance written notice if membership dues are current. A minimum abeyance of 60 days and a maximum abeyance of 120 days is permitted. Membership will be automatically activated after a term of abeyance expires.

TALK TO US This is your Y. Please make your concerns and comments known! Member suggestion cards are available throughout the facility and at Member Services. We pledge to acknowledge each comment and respond appropriately. If you prefer to email or telephone your comment, please contact the Membership Director. GET STARTED An easy first step to getting started at the Y is to contact Member Services for a free wellness connection within your first 30 days of membership. A trained Y professional will meet with you to discuss your goals, answer any questions you may have, and recommend appropriate wellness programs for you. FACILITY GUIDELINES • Ages 6 and under must have direct supervision at all times. • Ages 7-11(if in 5th grade) must be accompanied by a supervising

individual who remains in the building. The supervising individual does not have to be in the same area as the youth. The youth may sign themselves in and out of the program areas if required and follow the age restrictions posted for specific rooms. • Ages 11- 13 (if in 6th grade) are not required to be accompanied

by a supervising individual but are subject to age restrictions for specific areas. • Ages 14 and older are considered adults only for the purpose of

use of the facilities and programs. They may sign themselves in and out of program areas, if required, within the facility and may participate in adult fitness classes unaccompanied by an adult. Orientation to the facility and equipment is strongly recommended.

PROGRAM REFUND GUIDELINES The following guidelines are for programs that do not have required deposits (which are non-refundable). Special restrictions apply to Camp, Child Care, Membership and other programs that are clearly stated in their brochures and registrations. Program Directors have the final say to make any allowances other than the following:

GENERAL INFORMATION ELECTRONIC USAGE GUIDELINES Due to the advances in mobile and video technology, and for the privacy and protection of all our members, the YMCA of Snohomish County asks that members, participants, and guests adhere to the following guidelines. • Use of electronic devices is not permitted - at any time - in Y

locker rooms and youth program areas. • As a courtesy to other members, please set phones to silent while

working out. • Please limit phone conversations to the lobby or non-workout

areas. • Taking photos or video without permission from the Executive

Director is not permitted on Y premises. FOOD AND BEVERAGES No food or drink other than water is permitted in the pool, workout and gym areas. Please limit food items in the Child Watch/Adventure Zone to small grab and go snacks. SMOKE-FREE ENVIRONMENT In keeping with Y’s health and wellness advocacy, smoking is not permitted on Y’s facility or grounds. All YMCA’s of Snohomish County properties are smoke-free environments.

ATTIRE As a family organization, the YMCA of Snohomish County encourages members and their guests to maintain an appearance that is not disruptive, distracting, nor offensive in any regard and to wear attire that does not present health or safety concerns. Accordingly, Y staff may restrict appearance and attire with special consideration for those specific issues. These guidelines are meant for example purposes and may not be inclusive of all expectations. Not permitted  Clothing and jewelry that carry sexual, vulgar, or offensive messages or references, including pictures of the use of alcohol, tobacco, drugs, and gang affiliation.

Any apparel item that can be used as a weapon.

Jeans are not permitted in workout areas.

Required in workout areas  Closed-toe athletic shoes.

Shirts or workout tops.

Eye guards are required in racquetball courts.

Proper swim attire is required in the pool and spa areas.

LOCKERS Lockers are available for day use by members and guests. You must bring your own lock and remove it at the end of each visit. Items left overnight will be removed from the locker room and placed in the lost and found. Always secure your belongings. We recommend that you not bring valuables into the facility; the Y is not responsible for lost or stolen items. Security lockers for small items are available at no cost. COURT RENTALS Courts may be reserved up to a day in advance by calling Member Services or in person. Reservations are encouraged to guarantee your desired time. There is a one hour reservation limit per person during peak usage times. Racquets, balls, and eye protection can be checked out with your membership card.

YOUTH DEVELOPMENT Piscina e hidromasaje Horario de apertura y natación en familia: Los niños menores de 6 años deben estar acompañados por una persona supervisora en el área de la piscina. From youth sports to academic support to leadership development, the Y helps bring out the best in kids, and they keep surprising us with all they can do. LICENSED SCHOOL AGE-CHILD CARE The Monroe Family YMCA provides licensed School-Age Child Care before and after school for ages 5-12 (children must be currently attending kindergarten or elementary school). Program curriculum includes extended learning opportunities such as homework support, literacy development, STEAM activities,games, sports, arts/crafts, cooking, drama, service learning, and science activities. This plan is paid in equal payments each month for 10 months, September 2018 through the last day of school in June, 2019. The plan includes care 5 days each week for all school days. Half Days are included for children registered to attend After School on their regularly scheduled days. Part time rates also available.

DROP-IN CHILDCARE AT THE Y Our Y Adventure Zone and Child Watch staff will keep your children active and safe while you enjoy your workout. This service is included in your family membership and is a member only privilege. Use of the Adventure Zone and Child Watch is limited to two hours per family once daily, or one and a half hours per family twice daily if separate parent is

checking in.

YOUTH DEVELOPMENT KIDS NIGHT OUT | AGES 6 MONTHS –11YEARS This monthly event (every second Saturday*) is an easy way to plan

YOUTH DEVELOPMENT CENTER | AGES 11-18 Come in and stop by to make new friends at the place youth love to hang. We have board games, fun craft supplies, and table top games. there is always something to do in the YDC! A trusted staff member is always on hand to supervise, play a game, or help with homework. Come have fun! No membership required. Healthy snacks provided daily. Shuttle Drops you off at the Y.

HOURS: Monday-Friday after school until 6 pm

MHS ACHIEVERS PROGRAM a date night! With fun monthly themes and dinner provided you can be sure you and your children will have a great night out! Registration ends at Noon the Friday before the event. Registration is in branch only Pick-up ends promptly at 8:30 pm. Additional fees will be assessed for any children still in attendance after 8:30 pm

Come and try our Toddler Sports program, which we are offering to any child ages 18 months through 3 years old. Toddlers will be working with coach Austin to learn how to play a variety of sports including soccer, basketball, baseball and other gym games! You can sign up for our Wednesday or Friday class both run from 10:45-11:30 am.

Kids learn the fundamentals of baseball, building skills in a positive environment. This program focuses on skill building and sportsmanship by providing a positive, family-oriented and fun experience. Volunteer coaches always needed!

ADAPTIVE PROGRAMS MIRACLE TEAM BOWLING Miracle Team Bowling takes place at Bowlero Lanes in Lynnwood. There are ramps available and bumpers in the gutters. Those who need assistance are provided a buddy. When: Saturdays, January 26- March 9 (No games on February 16 for Presidents Day weekend), from 11 am-12:30 pm Cost: $55 (additional annual program fee may apply)

ADAPTIVE KARATE | AGES ADAPTIVE 7+ Isshinryu karate taught, an Okinawan style that does not use any kicks above the knee. All abilities welcome. The class will focus on the development of the student’s personal integrity. Designed to inspires confidence, physical fitness, self-discipline and focus. Escapes and protection is taught but the class does not include aggressive techniques or sparring. Parents are encouraged to participate along-side their child and provide necessary assistance during class. Additional Information: Uniforms not required but encouraged and can be purchased online for under $15. MIRACLE LEAGUE BASEBALL Miracle League Baseball is designed for individuals requiring additional assistance to play. This program is adapted to be an inclusive, stress free, non-competitive game, where everyone hits, everyone runs bases, and everyone gets home. Buddies are provided for all players while on the field. Parents may sit in the stands to watch and cheer for their player.

AOA (Active Older Adult) Water Fitness: A lighter water fitness class designed especially for the young at heart. Arthritis & Injury: A water fitness workout designed especially for the young at heart. Personal Pace Yoga: This beginner yoga class is designed for those of all ages that may have balance issues. It incorporates gentle, flowing movement while sitting on a chair or balancing with the support of a chair. SilverSneakers® Classic: Have fun and move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of movement and activities for daily living. Handheld weights, elastic tubing with handles, a SilverSneaker® ball are offered for resistance, and a chair is used for seated and/or standing support. Open to all ages and a great class for those recovering from injuries. SilverSneakers® Splash: SilverSplash® offers LOTS of fun and shallow water moves to improve agility, flexibility, and cardiovascular endurance. A special kickboard is used to develop strength, balance and coordination. No swimming ability is required. Enhance® Fitness: To help you feel better EnhanceFitness is geared toward older adults, and those with a chronic condition, such as arthritis, need not worry; you’ll never have to do anything that hurts. LIVESTRONG® AT THE YMCA LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA is a 12-week, small group program designed for adult cancer survivors. This program fulfills the important need of supporting the increasing number of cancer survivors who find themselves in the transitional period between completing their cancer treatment and the shift to feeling physically and emotionally strong enough to attempt to return to their normal life or their “new normal.” The program is conducted outside of medical facilities to emphasize that LIVESTRONG at the YMCA is about health, not disease. In addition to the physical benefits, LIVESTRONG at the YMCA focuses on the emotional well-being of survivors and their families by providing a supportive community where people impacted by cancer can connect during treatment and beyond. The bi-weekly 90-minute sessions take place in a small group setting and are adjusted to the individual’s ability level. The program is of no cost to participants and also includes a free Y membership for the session’s duration. YMCA’S DIABETES PREVENTION PROGRAM

Prediabetes is a condition in which individuals have blood glucose levels that are higher than normal, but not high enough to be classified as diabetes. People with prediabetes are at high risk of developing type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and stroke.

You can reduce your risk for type 2 diabetes and gain tools for healthy living. The YMCA’s Diabetes Prevention Program is a community-based lifestyle improvement program for adults with who are at risk for developing type 2 diabetes or have learned they are prediabetic. Its purpose is to empower adults with lasting lifestyle changes that will improve their overall health and reduce their chance of developing diabetes.

An estimated one in three U.S. adults has prediabetes, yet just 11% of those with prediabetes know they have it. Risk for developing type 2 diabetes may be reduced or eliminated by weight loss, healthier eating, and increased physical activity.

The group will meet every week for 16 weeks, followed by three bi-weekly classes, then six months of follow-up with one session per month. WHO CAN PARTICIPATE? In order to qualify for the program, you must be at least18 years old, overweight (BMI > 25)* and at high risk for developing type 2 diabetes indicated by a confirmatory blood value†, prediabetes determined by clinical diagnosis of Gestational Diabetes (GDM) during previous pregnancy, or a qualifying risk score.
