Mukilteo Community: Greetings & Welcome to Our YMCA, Spring is a great time to explore all the Y has to offer. For your kids, we’ve worked hard to create fun, skill-building opportunities for all ages, including: Karate, Dance, Swim Lessons, Soccer, Skateboard Lessons, Kids Night and Day Out, and awesome Spring Break Camps. For adults, check out one of our dynamic Group Exercise classes, led by the best instructors around. And, for those facing challenges and looking for support, make sure to look into our Actively Changing Together (ACT), Diabetes Prevention Program, or LiveStrong at the Y for Cancer Survivors programs. Each creates a small, compassionate community dedicated to helping each other work on getting stronger and adopting healthy habits. Please let us know if there’s anything we can do to serve you better. MEMBERSHIP INFORMATION NOW IT’S EASIER THAN EVER TO JOIN THE Y! Membership in the Y is a special thing. Be a part of a leading nonprofit organization for youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The YMCA of Snohomish County is a membership organization and anyone can join. So, with simple monthly dues, you have no contracts or minimum stays to worry about and no sales pitches to endure. Just quality, healthy programs that your whole family can enjoy.

MEMBERSHIP TYPES FACILITY MEMBERSHIP Get full access to fitness centers at all Washington State YMCAs with a Facility Membership. Choose from a wide menu of free group exercise classes, enjoy lap and recreational swimming, and receive a free wellness orientation when you join. And as a facility member, you’ll be eligible for priority registration and reduced fees on specialty classes and programs for your whole family. PROGRAM MEMBERSHIP If you’re not already a Y Facility Member and want to participate in programs like summer camps, youth sports, swimming lessons and child care, you’ll need an annual Program Membership. You’ll receive the same great level of quality and caring for which the Y is known, but without access to wellness centers and other amenities offered through a full Facility Membership. COMMUNITY MEMBERSHIP Belonging is a philosophy at the heart of the Y. Everyone in the community is considered a free Community Member and is welcome to participate in key community events and programs such as fun runs, health fairs, and community education. MY Y IS NOW EVERY Y IN WASHINGTON We want to encourage members to use the Y as often as they can. Sometimes, it’s more convenient for members to use a Y in a different location when travelling, near a workplace, or in another region. Now, full facility/full privilege YMCA members can use other Y facilities throughout the state. See website for program details. GENERAL INFORMATION OUR MISSION To inspire, nurture, and strengthen culturally vibrant communities through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. MEMBERSHIP CARD Your membership card is valuable and important. A valid membership card or photo ID is required every time you enter the Y. If you lose your card, you can get a replacement for FREE! You can also create a digital card to scan at the branch with our mobile app.

GUESTS Your membership includes 12 complimentary electronic guest passes per year - please use them! Each pass, stored electronically on your membership account, is good for one redemption at any branch of the YMCA of Snohomish County, and admits one person or one family to join you at the Y. At busy times, the Y reserves the right to limit guest usage.

MEMBER GET A MEMBER It’s a win-win at the Y! When you refer a friend, and they sign up for a Y membership, you’ll receive one month free membership for yourself. Gain a workout buddy and money in your pocket. Visit Member Services for your Member-Get-A-Member guest pass. AWAY PROGRAM The AWAY (Always Welcome at YMCAs) program allows you to access Ys around the country when visiting from out of town. Just show your valid Y membership card. This program is good for 12 visits per calendar year. PROGRAM REFUND GUIDELINES The following guidelines are for programs that do not have required deposits (which are non-refundable). Special restrictions apply to Camp, Child Care, Membership and other programs that are clearly stated in their brochures and registrations. Program Directors have the final say to make any allowances other than the following:

Cancelling a program 1 week prior to first day of the program start date=100% full refund.

All guests must present photo identification and adhere to facility guidelines. A guest may use Y facilities up to three times in one calendar year with a member. Thereafter, a day pass or membership must be purchased.

Cancelling a program after the program start date = refunds will be prorated.

Cancelling a program half-way or more after the program start date = no refund.

FINANCIAL AID Unable to afford the full cost of YMCA memberships and programs? Apply confidentially for financial assistance, forms are located in the lobby and are also available on our website. Member Services staff are available to assist you with your request.

LEAVE OF ABSENCE Members may have their membership held in abeyance once per calendar year upon 15 days advance written notice if membership dues are current. A minimum abeyance of 60 days and a maximum abeyance of 120 days is permitted. Membership will be automatically activated after a term of abeyance expires.

PAYMENT OPTIONS Bank draft and credit card payments are a convenient way to pay membership fees and ensure your membership is current. New membership activation requires a one-month payment of membership dues and pro-rated monthly fees at time of enrollment as well as banking account information or a credit card. If your banking or credit card information changes, please let us know at least 15 days before your next draft, or you may be charged a $30 NSF fee for nonpayment.

GET STARTED An easy first step to getting started at the Y is to contact Member Services for a free wellness appointment within your first 30 days of membership. A trained Y professional will meet with you to discuss your goals, answer any questions and recommend appropriate wellness programs for you.

GENERAL INFORMATION FACILITY GUIDELINES • Ages 6 and under must have direct supervision at all times. • Ages 7-11 must be accompanied by a supervising individual who

remains in the building. • Ages 12 & 13 are not required to be accompanied by a

supervising individual but are subject to age restrictions for specific areas. • Ages 14 and older are considered adults only for the purpose of

Accordingly, Y staff may restrict appearance and attire with special consideration for those specific issues. SMOKE-FREE ENVIRONMENT In keeping with Y’s health and wellness advocacy, smoking is not permitted on Y’s facility or grounds. All YMCA’s of Snohomish County properties are smoke-free environments.

Not permitted • Clothing and jewelry that carry sexual, vulgar, or offensive messages or references, including pictures of the use of alcohol, tobacco, drugs, and gang affiliation.

Any apparel item that can be used as a weapon.

Jeans are not permitted in workout areas.

Required in workout areas • Closed-toe athletic shoes.

Shirts or workout tops.

Eye guards are required in racquetball courts.

Proper swim attire is required in the pool and spa areas.

CODE OF CONDUCT • Be responsible • Be caring to others • Treat others with respect • Be respectful of others • Be honest to yourself and others Violation of these guidelines may result in suspension or revocation of membership.

LOCKERS Lockers are available for day use by members and guests. You must bring your own lock and remove it at the end of each visit. Items left overnight will be removed from the locker room and placed in the lost and found. Always secure your belongings. We recommend that you not bring valuables into the facility; the Y is not responsible for lost or stolen items. Security lockers for small items are available at no cost. PARKING Parking is available in our large lot. For safety, please park your car so that it does not block our sidewalks. Always lock and do not leave valuables in your car. RACQUETBALL COURT RESERVATIONS Courts may be reserved up to a day in advance by calling Member Services or in person. Reservations are encouraged to guarantee your desired time. There is a one hour reservation limit per person during peak usage times. Racquets, balls, and eye protection can be checked out with your membership card.

YOUTH DEVELOPMENT At the Y we believe every child has potential, and we’re here to nurture that potential. From youth sports to academic support to leadership development, the Y helps bring out the best in kids, and they keep surprising us with all they can do. CHILD CARE LICENSED SCHOOL AGE-CHILD CARE The Mukilteo Family YMCA provides licensed School-Age Child Care before and after school for ages 5-12 (children must be currently attending kindergarten or elementary school). Program curriculum includes extended learning opportunities such as homework support, literacy development, games, sports, arts/crafts, cooking, drama, service learning, and science activities. DSHS subsidy accepted.

DROP-IN CHILD CARE Free childcare is available for Facility Members at the Mukilteo Y while you work out for up to two hours per child per day. Parents must remain in the building. HOURS Monday - Thursday: 8:45 am– 1:45 pm & 3:30-8:30 pm Friday: 8:45 am-1:45 pm & 4-7:30 pm Saturday: 9 am-1 pm Sundays: 10 am-2 pm CHILD WATCH Child Watch is for children ages six weeks to three years old. ADVENTURE ZONE The Adventure Zone is for children ages three to ten years old. (Children must be potty trained to be in the Adventure Zone).

YOUTH DEVELOPMENT During the Mukilteo School District breaks, the Y provides supervision and fun for kids with select camps. Here your child will learn new skills, stay active, and make new friends all while having fun. SPRING BREAK CAMPS APRIL 11-15 Registration begins February 29 All camps run from 9 am-4 pm and include free extended care from 6:30-9 am; and 4-6:30 pm.

SOCCER CAMP Learn and play soccer all week. Make new friends and have fun! Ages: 8-12 Fees: Facility Member $225/Program Member $250

SUMMER CAMPS Registration begins March 16 for Facility Member and March 23 for Program Members. All camps (except Mini Camp) run from 9 am-4 pm and include free extended care from 6:30 - 9 am; and 4-6:30 pm. Please see our camp catalog for further details and information. SPECIALTY CAMPS Chose from Art, Science, Porpoise, Magic, Cooking, Jump Rope and more. EDUCATION & LEADERSHIP CASINO ROAD YOUTH DEVELOPMENT CENTER (CRYDC) The Casino Road Youth Development Center is free to any youth (grades K-12, ages 5-18) and NO YMCA membership is needed. We offer a safe and fun environment for teens to hang out. Come enjoy a game of pool or air hockey, play games on the Wii, use our computers for homework, or just chill out with friends after a long day of school. Free snacks are provided by the Mukilteo School District daily. The CRYDC hosts Study Zone Monday through Thursday from 3:30 to 4:05 pm. Study Zone allows quiet time for youth to focus on homework and/ or reading with the help of staff and volunteers. HOURS Monday - Friday: 3- 6:30 pm Saturday & Sunday:11 am-4 pm Ages 5 to 18 years – Free Casino Road Youth Development Center is located next to Fred Meyer’s in the Children’s Village, Building C, 14 East Casino Road, Everett.

CASINO ROAD SCHOLARS (CRS) The CRS is an exciting and free mentoring program based out of Horizon Elementary. The program provides additional academic support year-round by a certified teacher for students struggling in the 4th or 5th grade. Students participating in the program for a full year may experience increased connection to their school and community and greater awareness of colleges and career opportunities and the vital role that education plays in preparing them for a bright future. CASINO ROAD EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS FOR ADULTS. At the Y, we exist to strengthen community. Our FREE adult education classes will help you realize your potential and develop the confidence to dream of a brighter tomorrow. Create a meaningful change, for yourself and for the future! GED PREPARATORY CLASS The YMCA offers preparatory GED classes for individuals who did not complete the high school requirement for high school graduation but would like to earn their high school equivalency. These workshops will cover writing, social studies, and science help students prepare taking the comprehensive GED. You’ll learn what steps you’ll need to take and pass a complete GED. Tutoring is provided & free child care (ages one year and up) is provided. Monday & Wednesday, 8:30-10:30 am ENGLISH FOR SPEAKERS OF OTHER LANGUAGES (ESOL) The YMCA is partnering with the Seattle Goodwill to offer eight weeks of English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL). The Goodwill class will build confidence in everyday situations, improve consumer skills, and prepare students for employment or educational programs. Free child care (ages one year and up) is provided. . Although there is no cost to attend, there are a few requirements, including regular attendance. Tuesday & Thursday, 8:30 am-10:30 am CONVERSATIONAL ENGLISH This class is designed for adults who want to gain basic conversational English skills in a relaxing and friendly class. All skill levels are welcome. Program is led by YMCA instructors and will be taught entirely in English. To register, please arrive 10 minutes before the start of class. No childcare at this time; need willing volunteers to help provide (age 18 and up). Wednesdays and Thursdays, 6:30-8 pm KALEIDOSCOPE PLAY & LEARN Facilitated in Spanish, the Y’s Kaleidoscope Play & Learn group provides parents and their kids a fun, educational environment to sing songs, play games, and learn new skills. Based on a national model, Kaleidoscope teaches parenting skills while focusing on preparing pre-school kids for kindergarten by emphasizing vocabulary, group activities, and fun projects. For parents and their kids, birth to 5 years old at our Casino Road Youth Development Center. Snack provided. Friday mornings, Noon –1:30 pm

REGISTRATION POLICY:

FLOAT: “Future Leaders of Aquatics” Training

Registration for all Session-Based Programs for Facility Members (FM) will open up to six weeks prior to the session start date. Registration for all Session-Based Programs for Program Members (PM) will up up to four weeks prior to the session start date. Participants may register up to one week prior to the beginning of the Session to take advantage of the “Early Registration Price.” Participants who register after one week prior to start of session will be charged the “Full Registration Price,” which will include an additional $10 per participant. All participants registering after the Session start date must receive Y Staff approval.

JOIN OUR TEAM Join our aquatics team here at the Y! If you are at least14 years old and interested in volunteering, this is your opportunity to complete our free training program to become a certified Lifeguard or Swim Instructor. TRAINING Volunteer in the aquatics department and learn the skills necessary to become a certified Lifeguard and how to assist our Lifeguards. Once you have completed 50 hours of volunteering and are at least 16 years old, you will be eligible to take the YMCA Lifeguard Course and Certification Test, both paid for by the Y. Volunteer as a Swim Instructor Assistant and learn about proper stroke technique and different methods for teaching swim lessons to children and adults. ON THE TEAM Once you begin volunteering in the aquatics center, you are on our team! We will ensure that you get all the training and skills necessary to become a strong candidate for a paid position in our Mukilteo Y Aquatics Department. SPRING OUTDOOR SOCCER Children learn the fundamentals of soccer, building skills in a noncompetitive environment. Providing a positive, family oriented and fun experience, this program focuses on skill building and sportsmanship. Registration: Begins February 15 for Facility Members and February 29 for Program Members. Register by April 11. Prices go up $10 on April 12. Spring Session Little Rookies & Rookies: April 18-June 4 Fee: $80 Facility Member / $100 Program Member Youth: April 18-June 18 Fee: $90 Facility Member / $110 Program Member Chose your practice times: Little Rookies: These co-ed teams that will practice once a week for one hour at Challenger Elementary. Monday, Tuesday, or Thursday: 5 or 6 pm Rookies: Rookies are co-ed teams that will practice once a week for one hour at Mukilteo Elementary. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday: 5 pm Monday or Tuesday: 6 pm Girls and Boys age 7-10: Youth teams, ages 7-10, are separated by gender and will practice twice a week at Horizon Elementary. DANCE CLASSES These age appropriate classes are led by experienced instructors. Dance classes will focus on dance warm-ups, terminology, and techniques. SWIM LESSONS SWIM, SPORTS & PLAY: SWIM LESSONS Children learn to swim in a fun and safe environment. Our program teaches children to swim independently, develop good technique, and important safety skills. Participants may register up to one week prior to the beginning of the Session to take advantage of the “Early Registration Price.” Participants who register after one week prior to start of session will be charged the “Full Registration Price,” which will include an additional $10 per participant. WATER WALK These times are reserved for those who want to walk, jog or exercise on their own. LAP SWIM GUIDELINES Lap swim is recommended for members 14 years of age and older. Adults have priority. Walkers and exercisers may use the pool during lap swim but only in designated lanes or areas. WRISTBAND POLICY Children under the age of 12 who do not pass a height test of 42 inches at the armpits are subject to a swim test. Children under the age of 12 must wear a wristband indicating their swimming ability. MASTERS SWIM Ages18 and over Training for a triathlon? Just want to get back into the swim of things? SKATE PARK “THE MUK” SKATE PARK FEATURING INDOOR AND OUTDOOR FACILITIES! The YMCA proudly provides the only staffed skate facilities in Snohomish County, 352 days every year! CYCLE HEART RATE In heart rate training, the challenge is to keep your heart rate within a certain number of beats during any certain period of time or terrain. Whether you use a heart rate monitor or not, this is a great cycle class that ensures you will get a great workout. FIT FOREVER Fun AOA class using block choreography as well as short intervals to keep heart rate up and challenge members. A functional fitness class with moves to help them in their everyday living activities. Fun music from their era with weights, bands and Swiss ball work. High Impact Interval Training (HIIT) is an enhanced form of interval training, an exercise strategy alternating periods of short intense anaerobic exercise with less-intense recovery periods. PILATES/MATT Improve strength and flexibility through exercises that enhance your posture and core strength using body weight, balls and bands. Exercises are conducted from the floor. With easy to follow moves, zesty Latin music, and the addition of Zumba® Toning Sticks or light weights to help strengthen and tone specific muscle groups. SOCIAL SERVICES Y COMMUNITY Y Community provides free or reduced-fee activities to families in partnered emergency and transitional shelters. Activities vary from the YMCA and other locations. Register with your caseworker or the Community Coordinator. Y community programs are made available through community Annual Campaign donations. Contact Member Services if you would like to make a gift to support future programming. YOUTH MEMBERSHIP The Y is for everyone. Youth Memberships are available to teens who are eligible for free or reduced-price lunches at school. Turn in your Youth Membership application with: • School District letter of eligibility for the free/reduced lunch program, or from a school counselor confirming eligibility. • Payment of $17 or $34, based on free or reduced status

Financial assistance keeps the Y available for kids and families who need us most. We count on the generosity of our members and community to help people of all ages and from all walks of life be more healthy, confident, connected, and secure. When you give to the Y, your gift will have a meaningful, enduring impact right in your own neighborhood. The Y’s Financial Assistance Program is supported by contributions to our Annual Campaign and United Way. And finally, the Y could not survive without the dedication of our volunteers. From youth tutors to committee members, teen mentors to fundraisers, board members to fitness instructors, volunteers lend their time, talents, and energy to help strengthen our community. VOLUNTEER, DONATE, ADVOCATE Across the United States, more than 500,000 business leaders, community advocates, parents, teens, and individuals who want to give back and support their neighbors volunteer at the Y. In 10,000 neighborhoods nationwide, including Snohomish County, we have the presence and partnerships to not just promise, but deliver positive personal and social change. Y volunteers give men, women, and children of all ages and from all walks of life the resources and support the need to be healthy, confident, connected and secure. VOLUNTEERS OF THE Y • Lead our Boards of Directors and branch committees. • Raise funds to ensure the Y is accessible to all members of the community through Annual Campaign. • Motivate and support youth through coaching our sports teams and teaching many of our classes. • Extend a hand to help adults who want to do more, be more or live healthier through healthy living programs. • Participate in opportunities to give back and support neighbors through food drives, community events and more!
