School Age Care

At the Y we believe every child has potential, and we’re here to nurture that potential. From youth sports to academic support to leadership development, the Y helps bring out the best in kids, and they keep surprising us with all they can do. The Mukilteo Family YMCA provides licensed School-Age Care before and after school for ages 5-12 (children must be currently attending kindergarten or elementary school). Program curriculum includes extended learning opportunities such as homework support, literacy development, games, sports, arts/crafts, cooking, drama, service learning, and science activities. DSHS subsidy accepted. Monday-Friday am: 6:30-8:45 am and 3:25-6:30 pm Learning Improvement Time (Friday pm): 2:10-6:30 pm Non-School Days* 6:30 am to 6:30 pm

Learn the basics in this two day a week practice clinic. Kids will have fun learning to dribble, pass and shoot! This is a skills based program and scrimmage games will be held during practice. YOUTH DEVELOPMENT SKATE PARK

The YMCA proudly provides the only staffed skate facilities in Snohomish County, 352 days every year! With one of the largest outdoor Skate Park’s in the state, and new 28 ft. wide indoor mini ramp, “THE MUK” has something to offer everyone all year long. Note: Helmet required for all participants; knee and elbow pads are highly recommended.

Outdoor Skate Park Hours: Weather permitting. Monday-Friday | 4-8 pm Saturday | 1-6 pm Sunday | 1-5 pm (Bike Night, 3-5 pm) *Skate Park is not covered and will be closed in event of wet or rainy weather. Indoor Mini-Ramp hours: The Indoor Mini-Ramp will open in the event of rain 4-8 pm, on Tuesdays & Thursdays the mini ramp will be reserved for Skate Lessons from 5-7 pm.

SKATE PROGRAMS Group Skate Lessons

Start with the basics or push to the next level! Our skate instructors will guide groups of 2-5 children through desired maneuvers safely and efficiently, while also ensuring knowledge of park etiquette, terminology, and gear maintenance. Lessons run twice a week. AQUATICS Safety Around Water Safety Around Water is open to anyone in the community who wants their children to learn how to be safe in and around water. The program is available to participants for a small fee.

What is safety around water? This 8-session course teaches kids water safety and basic swimming skills that help reduce the risk of drowning and builds confidence in and around water.

A typical session includes: Exercises to help kids adjust to being in water Instruction in Jump, Push, Turn, Grab and Swim, Float, Swim, two skill sets kids can use if they unexpectedly find themselves in the water Specific safety topics like what to do if you see someone in the water who needs help Fun activities that reinforce skills

YOUTH DEVELOPMENT AQUATICS Swim Lessons For more than 160 years, the YMCA has nurtured the potential and united communities across America to create lasting, meaningful change. Everything the Y does is in service of building a better us. One of the most effective ways to accomplish this is to teach youth, teens, and adults to swim, so they can stay safe around water and learn the skills they need to make swimming a lifelong pursuit for staying healthy.

POOL SCHEDULE AQUATICS H20 Descriptions Open Swim

Lap Swim Guidelines

Facility Members of all ages are welcome to use the pool during select times every day during Open Swim.

Lap swim is recommended for members 14 years of age and older. Adults have priority. Walkers and exercisers may use the pool during lap swim but only in designated lanes or areas. Water walkers are welcome.

Family Swim During Family Swim, the pool is reserved just for families with parents in the pool with their children.

Adult Lap Swim Reserved for adults only. Swimmers must be 18 years or older to participate.

Water Fitness Participants must be at least 14 years old unless pre-approved by instructor. Designed for all levels of fitness, classes include a warm-up, cardiovascular set, toning and stretching exercises.

Aqua Zumba® Jump into the Latin-inspired, easy-to-follow, calorie burning, dance fitness party that makes working out a splash!

Master Swim Ages18 and over Come try out Masters Swim during one of our in-house stroke clinics every fourth Thursday! With a coach on deck to provide feedback on stroke mechanics and to help orient new swimmers to the system, it is a great time to “test the waters” for those that are unsure about joining!

Wristband Policy Children under the age of 12 who do not pass a height test of 42 inches at the armpits are subject to a swim test. Children under the age of 12 must wear a wristband indicating their swimming ability. Children that do not pass a swim test must have an adult in the water with them.

'MUK' Island Join us every Friday afternoon from 4-6 pm for a blast on our pool’s obstacle course! For ages 4-16. Children under 12 must pass a swim test.


HEALTHY LIVING Personal Training Invent in your health and gain confidence through personal training. Certified trainers use their knowledge of current research, principles of sound exercise and quality equipment to design and implement a program tailored just for you!

Youth Wellness Orientation Youth ages 8-13 must go through our Youth Wellness Orientation before accessing the Wellness Center and using the cardio equipment. Youth under age 14 are not allowed in the Weight Room. Please contact Matt Dunn, to schedule your child’s appointment.

Introducing eGYM!

eGym takes the guesswork out of strength training and helps you keep a routine and reach your goals! eGym consists of 14 fully electronic stations that cover all the major muscle groups and have been developed according to the latest exercise science research. All members must complete an orientation at the Mukilteo YMCA prior to using eGym equipment. Please ask a staff member in the Healthy Living area for more information and to sign up for an orientation.


HEALTHY LIVING Healthy Living Programs LIVESTRONG at the YMCA

LIVESTRONG at the YMCA is small-group program developed and established in partnership with the LIVESTRONG Foundation, to assist those who are living with, through or beyond cancer to strengthen their spirit, mind and body. Primary goals of the program include increased strength, cardio vascular endurance, and flexibility while improving energy levels, which will enhance functional ability to do everyday tasks.

18+ 12-week program with two 90-minute sessions per week FREE for Members and non-members

ACT! (Actively Changing Together) ACT! is a nutrition, activity, and self-improvement program for youth ages 8-11 and teens ages 12-14 and their parents. This is a community-based program for youth who are overweight or at risk of becoming overweight. A YMCA Health & Well-Being Team teaches fun ways to be active, eat well, and create healthy lifestyles for the whole family. To be involved in ACT!, one adult family member or guardian must participate.

Weight Loss Program

ACT! is a nutrition, activity, and self-improvement program for youth ages 8-11 and teens ages 12-14 and their parents. This is a community-based program for youth who are overweight or at risk of becoming overweight. A YMCA Health & Well-Being Team teaches fun ways to be active, eat well, and create healthy lifestyles for the whole family. Diabetes Prevention

If you are at risk for type 2 diabetes, the YMCA’s Diabetes Prevention Program can help you adopt and maintain healthy lifestyles that will help you reduce your chances of diabetes. Fun music from their era with weights, bands and Swiss ball work. Combine fun with fitness with a standing circuit workout.

Silversneakers® Classic

Have fun and move to the music through a variety of exercises.

Silversneakers® Yoga Move your body through a complete series of seated and standing yoga poses.

Walk, jog, or exercise in the pool. This Latin dance based class is a fun, friendly fitness class.

Zumba® Gold Toning

With easy to follow moves, zesty Latin music, and the addition of Zumba® Toning Sticks or light weights to help strengthen and tone specific muscle groups.

Water Fitness

Designed for all levels of fitness, classes include a warm-up, cardiovascular set, toning and stretching exercises.

Class Descriptions Adult Karate

Learn self-defense focused on real life applications. This dynamic class focuses on all aspects of traditional Shorin-Ryu Karate, taught by internationally certified black belt instructors.

Cardio Kickboxing A combination of aerobics and martial art training. Learn basic Martial Arts and shadowboxing moves.

Cardio Step Together

Cardio Step Together is a one-hour, results-driven cardio workout that uses The STEP as its primary training tool.

Cycle

An interval training style workout using a stationary bike. Cycle is a non-impact alternative to other weight bearing activities.

Cycle Together/Cycle 30 Together Cycle Together is a huge calorie burner. It's a 60-minute cycling experience brought indoors.

Pilates/MATT

Improve strength and flexibility through exercises that enhance your posture and core strength using body weight, balls and bands. Exercises are conducted from the floor.

Pilates/Yoga Fusion (PiYo)

A combination of core strengthening of Pilates and flexibility of Yoga in one class.

Power Pump Step and sculpt/Super step or any class involving weights and the step. Provides high/low intensity levels using a step.

Strength Train Together This high intensity class will blast all your muscles with a high-rep weight training workout. Please arrive 5 minutes before class to set up equipment.

Strong by Zumba®

Especially for fitness enthusiasts and students looking for a more challenging, high intensity interval training workout. Moving in sync with music makes you work harder.

Synrgy

This high intensity 30-45 minute class will get your heart rate up while you move from station to station using the LifeFitness Synrgy 360 equipment.

TRX The TRX Suspension Trainer is the original, best-in-class workout system that leverages gravity and your bodyweight to perform hundreds of exercises.

Yoga

Incorporate static and dynamic flexibility movements using postures and positions to increase flexibility, reduce stress, and improve strength and posture.

Zumba®

This Latin dance based class is a fun, friendly fitness class for active older adults and those participants just starting their journey to fitness with easy to follow moves and zesty Latin music.


SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY Casino Road Community Center The Casino Road Community Center is free to any youth (grades K-12, ages 5-18) and NO YMCA membership is needed. We offer a safe and fun environment for local youth and teens after school.

CRCC YDC Summer Hours Youth ages 5-18 can stop by and hang out with friends in a safe environment.

Code Teen Summer Program Code Teen is a free program for middle- and high-school students in which kids visit local colleges, hear from guest speakers, and learn about the importance of graduating high school and going to college. Held at Voyager Middle School, see school office for registration.

My Achievers Program The My Achievers Program (MAP) was developed as an effort to eliminate the achievement gap for students who face daily challenges due to racial/ethnic barriers, immigration status, and socio-economic factors. MAP is unique among the Y’s program offerings in that academic success and college readiness are the main focus for the program. MAP is offered after school for middle school and high school students. They meet twice a week during the school year, and have additional field trips and college tours on Fridays. SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY Casino Road Adult Education At the Y, we exist to strengthen community. Our FREE adult education classes will help you realize your potential and develop the confidence to dream of a brighter tomorrow. Create a meaningful change, for yourself and for the future!

GED Preparatory Class in Spanish The YMCA offers preparatory GED classes for individuals who did not complete the high school requirement for high school graduation but would like to earn their high school equivalency. These workshops will cover writing, social studies, and science help students prepare taking the comprehensive GED. You’ll learn what steps you’ll need to take and pass a complete GED. English for Speakers of other languages (ESOL) The YMCA is partnering with the Seattle Goodwill and Edmonds Community College to offer eight weeks of English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL). Free child care (ages one year and up) is provided. Although there is no cost to attend, there are a few requirements, including regular attendance.

Volunteerism & Giving

Social Services

Our movement is made up of people of all ages and from every walk of life, all working side-by-side to ensure that everyone, regardless of gender, income, or background, has the opportunity to live life to the fullest. Income based pricing keeps the Y available for kids and families who need us most. We count on the generosity of our members and community to help people of all ages and from all walks of life be more healthy, confident, connected, and secure. When you give to the Y, your gift will have a meaningful, enduring impact right in your own neighborhood. The Y’s Access for All Program is supported by contributions to our Annual Campaign and United Way. And finally, the Y could not survive without the dedication of our volunteers. From youth tutors to committee members, teen mentors to fundraisers, board members to fitness instructors, volunteers lend their time, talents, and energy to help strengthen our community.

Y Community provides free or reduced-fee activities to families in partnered emergency and transitional shelters. Activities vary from the YMCA and other locations. Register with your caseworker or the Community Coordinator. Y community programs are made available through community Annual Campaign donations. Contact member services if you would like to make a gift to support future programming.

Volunteers of the Y • Lead our Boards of Directors and branch committees. • Raise funds to ensure the Y is accessible to all members of the community through Annual Campaign. • Motivate and support youth through coaching our sports teams and teaching many of our classes. • Extend a hand to help adults who want to do more, be more or live healthier through healthy living programs. • Participate in opportunities to give back and support neighbors through food drives, community events and more! Youth Membership

The Y is for everyone. Youth Memberships are available to teens who are eligible for free or reduced-price lunches at school.

Donate to the Mukilteo Food Bank You can drop off non-perishable food at any time in our lobby.

Providing a Safe Place

The Mukilteo Family YMCA is supporting the Cocoon House Safe Place Program, designed to facilitate access to supportive resources for youth people in crisis.
