ADVANCING OUR CAUSE 2012-2014 STRATEGIC PLAN

STRATEGIC IMPACT FOCUS AREAS: CREATING COMMUNITY THROUGH CONNECTIONS People experience and are connected to the impact of the Y. Create community through shared experiences by fostering an environment where sharing of personal stories and experiences is common. Demonstrate impact in ways that speak to both the head and heart. Educate the community about depth and breadth of programs and services.

A Y WITHOUT WALLS

Fulfill our mission by intentionally extending programs and services beyond the confines of our facilities. Develop a program delivery model that best stewards our resources and those of partnering organizations while addressing current and anticipated gaps between community needs and resources. Foster a culture of program innovation by encouraging experimentation, inquiry, and continuous learning.

PEOPLE AS ASSETS

Encourage and support individuals to become their “best selves” by engaging them in meaningful ways, connecting them to the Y’s impact, and empowering them to influence outcomes. Create a culture that facilitates and supports relationship building. Thoughtfully engage and connect volunteers with meaningful opportunities to serve the Y in areas where their passion intersects with organizational need. Develop Y staff by recruiting, engaging, and developing individuals who are committed to the Y’s cause.

BUILDING TOGETHER

Inspire ourselves and community partners to maximize expertise and resources for the betterment of all. Stimulate a culture of collaboration and shared learning among and between branches and departments in our organization. Continuously work to anticipate and understand where community needs and YMCA capability intersect.

A ROAD MAP TO THE NEXT THREE YEARS • Continue with the YMCA Capital Advancement Plan that was adopted in response to the capital needs assessment and campaign feasibility study. Once benchmarks are achieved, we will transition to an active capital fundraising campaign. • Embrace the strategy of positioning the Y as a charity worthy of community support, capturing the stories and experiences of members, participants, volunteers, and donors that will help us connect individuals to the impact of the Y. • Create additional opportunities for transformational growth by fostering a county-wide culture of philanthropy. Growth in our annual community support campaign, endowment fund through increased Heritage Club membership, and grant procurement will fund critical life-enriching programs. • Focus on community health issues related to obesity and chronic disease as well as expanding our support to cancer LOCATION survivors. Address line 1 Address • Reach line out 2and collaborate with others to expand our Phone important work for youth and teens and explore new opportunities to contribute to educational initiatives that address school readiness, summer learning loss, and preparing youth for careers in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math). • Increase the diversity of our board and staff, provide training in inclusion and cultural competency, and expand collaborations with partners like Familias Unidas and NAACP.
