COVID-SAFETY INFORMATION FOR YMCA CUSTOMERS

The safety and wellbeing of our staff and visitors has always been our number one priority and as we begin to reopen our recreation facilities, we want to reassure you that we are doing everything we can to keep you safe. Ready to reopen: COVID-safety information

WHAT WE ARE DOING TO KEEP YOU SAFE We are closely monitoring government announcements to ensure we are following the latest health advice regarding COVID-19. Once YMCA-managed facilities reopen, we will have a variety of measures in place to keep you and our staff safe.

TRAINING FOR OUR STAFF Before reopening, all YMCA staff members will complete the Department of Health COVID-safe training, as well as additional training provided by YMCA Victoria. Our staff will work with you to ensure everyone in the centre is kept safe while we adjust to this ‘new normal’ together.

TEMPERATURE SCANNING AND REGISTRATION UPON ENTRY When you arrive at the recreation facility, a YMCA staff member will scan your temperature and if it’s above 38°C you will politely be asked to leave. You will also need to sign in with your contact details and our staff will count each visitor as they enter and exit the facility to ensure that only one person per 4 metres squared is in each space within the facility at any given time.

SIGNAGE AND INSTRUCTIONS TO HELP WITH SOCIAL DISTANCING Once you are inside the facility, you will see a variety of signage and instructions on how staff and visitors can be COVID-safe. These include tips on how to be hygienic while you are visiting the facility, as well as floor, seat and bench stickers to assist you with social distancing requirements.

OUR PROCESS FOR A CONFIRMED COVID-19 CASE If someone who has visited the facility is suspected or confirmed to have COVID-19, our staff will follow an 8-step process to ensure the facility is closed safely, the case is reported and all those who were in contact with the person are contacted. We will then conduct a decontamination clean before reopening the facility. We have also increased our cleaning of regular touch points and will conduct 24-hour facility cleans. Hand sanitiser will be available upon entry and throughout the facility.

KEEPING YOURSELF AND THE COMMUNITY SAFE ALL VISITORS MUST REGISTER THEIR NAME AND CONTACT DETAILS To keep you and the community safe, it is important that you register with your name and details when entering the facility. This will help us trace if there is a suspected or confirmed case at the facility.

ADHERE TO SOCIAL DISTANCING AND HYGIENE REQUIREMENTS All staff and visitors must keep a safe 1.5 metre distance from each other. While we will have sneeze screens installed and signage throughout the facility, we are relying on you to do your part. If a visitor does not follow our COVID-safe practices, they may be asked to leave the facility by a YMCA staff member.

It’s important to remember that the government’s advice is constantly changing while we navigate through this difficult time together. Some YMCA-managed sites may reopen before others, and we ask that you please be patient while we work with our council partners to understand the requirements that need to be in place to keep you and the community safe.
