Date: Time: Location:

Wednesday March 7th 5.30pm for 6.00 The Space Old Ben Sayers Factory 1 Tantallon Road North Berwick EH39 5NF

The East Lothian Youth Music Forum supports music making activities for children and young people from 0 – 25 years. Joining the Forum is free. It is for practitioners, tutors, educators, group leaders, volunteers and those working in the music industry. The forum exists to promote all genres of music from pop/rock through folk and jazz, to traditional Scottish music and all styles in between. The last Forum meeting took place in September and focussed on the theme of funding, with enlightening talks and advice from a panel of experts. Our next meeting will be held on March 7th in North Berwick. If you haven’t had a chance to visit The Space yet, this is a great opportunity to come and witness first-hand the amazing, youth-driven work that is taking place there, and why it has caused such a stir among young people across East Lothian (and beyond)! From 5.30, guests can enjoy a drink and will be treated to a performance by members of “The Tattie Mushrooms and the Toothpickers” from the Upward Mobility Project, based at The Space. As well as the usual lively chat and networking opportunities, the meeting will include a few short presentations/Q+A sessions from Forum members on examples of good practice, innovative partnership working and ELjam-funded projects. We will be delighted to welcome: Bruce Cragie, Band Manager outlining the Band Aid Pilot Project- a mentoring initiative for young, East Lothian musicians and music business students. Josh Barton, Managing Director, Upward Mobility discussing an exciting new ‘School of Rock’-style Project for 16-25 year-olds who are experiencing social isolation. Doug Haig, Manager, the Bridge Centre Music Project on recent developments at the Project, including staff development and accreditation. We hope to see you on the 7th! Please RSVP by March 5th to: Iain Bruce East Lothian Strategic Music Partnership Co-ordinator Brunton Theatre Ladywell Way Musselburgh EH21 6AA Email: ibruce@eastlothian.gov.uk
