EXPLORE YOUR INNER WORLD BY MARILYN PUFF
Travelling the world or exploring the forest in your own backyard can be a rich and inspiring journey. But there is a whole other world calling to us, an inner world of endless possibility.
Of the six Sacred Directions on the Medicine Wheel, only one of them is physical, the only one that we can touch. We can`t touch our mind, our emotions, our spirit, or what is “above or below”. Yet we can look at these other aspects of ourselves through the eyes of imagination, meditation or intention and practice this kind of exploration. That is when we can feel, can see or maybe even hear the worlds and the forests of our inner mind and heart.
Meditation or quieting the mind is crucial to being able to play or work with our ability to visualize or connect with our inner world or spirit world. Anything we do that we enjoy or focus on until we feel more positive, relaxed or we lose track of time, can be a form of meditation. Running, yoga, sitting in meditation, dance, working in the garden, absorbed in playing with our children, making art or writing are some of the activities that can teach us what it feels like to still our minds and be present in the moment. Notice the “feeling in the room” when it feels more expansive, settled, open or perhaps when your body tingles or shivers. Music and drumming are ancient ways to help still the mind and transport us. Being
outside in nature or with an intentional circle of people in ceremony, can be a deeply supportive energy for visualizations and journeying.
When we`re not in the moment, it`s our past or future intrusive thoughts and challenging emotions that are asking to be recognized. It’s important to honor them in order to heal them, transform them, so they don`t become locked in our bodies and develop into health issues. We can seek out support, wellness, listen to YouTube meditations, or create our own visualization journeys that can be deeply healing for our emotional wounds. Then we live more intentionally aware and present with our constantly flowing emotions as a guidance system to indicate when we need to refocus or when we are ``in the zone``.
This availability to the moment is when our exploration of the other worlds of inspiring ideas and our creative mind becomes easier to do and can be accessed at anytime. It's like exercising a new set of muscles. At first you might think nothing happened. With practice you can journey to ancient lands, create profound beauty, fly or bury deep into the earth, imagine exquisite nature, enter crystal laden caves of your lost dreams or explore the tender mystery and hear the wisdom from your unseen world of Spirit. When your inner world calls to you, journey to meet it....
Marilyn is a creative, passionate seeker. She loves exploring her inner worlds and playing with possibilities. She is the visionary and founder of a first annual transformational weekend for women called Sacred Moon Emergence.

Tap into Sacred Wisdom and Light up Your Inner Sage
T
BY SANTA TIERRAS
he Wisdom Keepers of Peru teach us that in order to fully engage in life, we must transition beyond a vision of coping and surviving. We must claim our personal power and choose to craft visions that allow us to live inspired, meaningful lives. To be driven by big vision, we must rewire our framework of reference by connecting to Source. Q’ero Elder Don Manuel Q’espe shared that the way to live life to the fullest is to live a Mythic Life. To engage in a life of mythic vision, Shaman learn to source from the Collective Wisdom, feeding their inner sage with the wisdom of the ancestors, the light, and Pachamama, Mother Earth. They live deeply connected to this pool of wisdom by embodying presence.
In presence, Shaman are connected to other dimensions, such as the dream world, making them open conduits for pure wisdom. By embracing a childlike innocence, Shaman are deeply connected to a framework of joy and potential. When Shaman walk the land they don’t spend time looping in the past. Instead, they embody the land, becoming one with Pachamama. Through embodiment they become Presence and, like Hummingbird, their inner Sage feeds directly from the source of light.
We can learn to see through the eyes of the Shaman, move beyond our personal interpretation, and tap into the Collective Wisdom. When you step onto a sacred medicine path, the teachings meet you wherever you are and it is your commitment to evolving that propels you deeper into healing. As we spend more time in presence, we move away from a life that sources from separation and struggle, into a life of profound connection to oneness, ease and grace. We choose to be driven by our soul’s wisdom. Carol Bell and Laureen Block of Santa Tierras are passionate about sharing and preserving Indigenous Ceremony, Ritual and Healing through teaching, retreats and private practice. They received the Personal Rite of Passage from Don Manuel Q’espe, revered Q’ero Elder. www.santatierras.com. Winter 2017 | www.InteriorWellness.com 5
FOOT RUB, ANYONE?
O
BY CHRISTOPHER SHIRLEY n a cold winters evening, I cannot think of
anything more delightful than being snuggled up somewhere cozy with a good friend and
exchanging foot rubs. Not just any foot rubs though, but,
foot rubs based on reflexology. The profound relaxation
that reflexology provides is sometimes preferred to a
whole body massage. Reflexology not only relaxes the muscles of the body, but, also relaxes the nerves, glands
and organs: every part of the whole body. Many people regard it as an effective method of preventing disease and promoting wellness and vitality. And, it does feel so very blissful as you melt into deep relaxation.
On another level, it is a truly rewarding way to spend
quality time with a person. The quality of the nurturing touch can serve to deepen relationships.
Two of the most significant qualities of reflexology are
that it is completely safe and that it is very easy to learn. Can you imagine the value of having reflexology at your fingertips? For use with family and friends it can be learned at home. For more accomplished use of reflexology a course would be appropriate. One weekend
of instruction would bring you to a good level of competency.
You have at your fingertips, the ability to provide blissful
relaxation, reduce people’s stress and tension, relieve pain, and to cleanse and rejuvenate people. Learning reflexology is like riding a bike, once you can do it, you never forget. That is many, many blissful foot rubs!
Is learning reflexology attractive to you? If so, check out the instructional DVD “Foot Reflexology: A StepBy-Step Guide” and learn at home or, visit the course schedule on the website. www.pacificreflexology.com. - EXHALE -
The Ongoing Practice of Letting Go BY NATALIE SAARI
A
new year, a new you. First you must shed some weight – not necessarily physically, more so energetically. The karmic baggage we all carry. This internal build up can become so heavy, leading to major barriers along our paths. First we must ask ourselves: What is it that you are holding onto? What could you do without? The good news – we all possess a natural power that we can use to our benefit, especially in this case – to let go. Every inhale awakens, nourishes, energizes us. Every exhale is an opportunity to release and let go. Our breath reflects the ebb and flow of life itself.
The breath is an excellent self-care tool. The breath can be used in many ways for letting go. When you find yourself overwhelmed, holding tension, feeling the weight of the world on your shoulders; Take a moment to connect with your breath.
Notice the slight pause at the top of the inhalation. This is an opportunity to acknowledge and gather that tension. Pause. Hold onto it for a moment. Consciously, with awareness, exhale and let it go.
Perhaps it is time to look a little closer at activities of daily living, eating habits, sleeping habits, imbalances of any kind. How can you balance the yin and yang in your life? Yin yoga may be one option. Eat better. Sleep more. But sometimes what we need most of all is doing less. Stop. Take a moment to observe, recognize, take hold of, and let go. Let go of whatever no longer serves you.
Incorporate into your yoga or meditation practice and throughout the day. The practice letting go becomes easier with over time. Learning to let go and see how much you gain! 2017 a Time for Balance BY THERESE DORER
The Year of 2017 is a Time of Sacred Balance
The opportunity to create Sacred Balance in our personal lives will affect the whole world. In numerology 2017 means new beginnings, this can be an opportunity to trust that these new beginnings for the whole world can be supported by us as individuals. This can be a time of fresh starts and it is imperative that we do not drag the past shadow pieces to the new expression of our being, and our journey forward in life.
This year, in 2017, we have the opportunity to bring a new expression to our lives and to be the best we can be, the collective consciousness is always affected by each individual, this may feel like a drop of rain in an ocean, but each drop of rain creates the ocean and it can affect change. We have an opportunity to make our contribution to the collective as clear, clean and joyous as possible. When we go into confused love, it affects the sacred balance of the whole. We can make the difference with our thoughts, feelings, desires and joy; this creates the energy or “soup” that we live in. Each of us has the potential to be generators of light, love, and joy. The well-being of the earth is dependent on us to continue to produce the attributes to create the balance that is needed upon our planet at this time. Therese Dorer works as a Spiritual Consultant in Kamloops. Her work includes mediumship, Shamanic healing practice, leading meditation circles, and teaching workshops. THINGS WE LOVE
Interior Wellness Reviews
Warning! Reading the following text may cause you to feel RADIANT...
BY ELIZABETH BEEDS
Back To Earth
The thing I love most about Back to Earth is that their products are clean, clean clean! In a time where “natural” is used as a marketing ploy, Back to Earth is a refreshing and honest relief. Another thing I love about them is that they’re local! When was the last time you looked at WHERE your products are coming from? The environmental impact of the transportation alone is enough to make the trees quiver! And what’s not to love about beautiful, natural products that actually work? The proof is in the pudding, or rather the pot of cream! Let’s check them out.
BUTTAH ME UP
It smells like coconuts, sunshine and dreamy, summer days. This thick, rich and incredibly moisturizing cream is perfect for dry wintery days. I just have to stop myself from eating it! That is actually one of the best indicators for something you put on your skin - is it edible?
PAIN BE GONE
I tried it on a very sore back and felt relief within 5 minutes. Then I could start to move again; and movement is the best thing for that kind of pain. It absorbs very well, feels tingly, warm and cool and smells incredible!
SWEET PEA HERBAL BALM
It’s made for rashes, itches, cuts, bites, burns etc: It works perfectly to speed-up healing. I also end up using it as lip-balm and as a treatment for the backs of my hands which get dry sometimes, elbows and feet, and even the dry ends of my hair. A perfect, multi-purpose balm!
WHERE CAN I GET MINE?
Your local health food store and stores like Nature’s Fare Markets and Save-On Foods or stop by their home-base in Coldstream BC. The easiest thing to do is check them out on line, place an order of exactly what you want and then receive it at your door! www.getbacktoearth.com Disclaimer - this is not a paid advertisement. Our honest reviews are truthful and only done on products, foods, spas, practitioners and experiences that we truly love!

TESSA INKSTER
MAY CAUSE RADIANCE
One year ago almost to the day, 27 year old Tessa Inkster was diagnosed with Stage II Hodgkin Lymphoma. Although she knew she had excellent medical care, with her treatment being prescribed by a leading researcher in Lymphoma's, the lack of a local peer support network resulted in feelings of isolation and seclusion. From what began as a blog to reach people undergoing a similar journey, has now grown into a thriving nonprofit organization that aims to support Young Adults affected by CANcer. The name of the organization is May Cause Radiance, and similar to the medications and treatments that most people undergoing a conventional cancer treatment become inundated with, it has a common side effect of its own... However, you won't have to worry about hair loss, nausea or mouth sores, but being involved with this organization may cause you to feel RADIANT! And that is the goal of this brand new nonprofit organization to help Young Adults affected by CANcer to feel well, beautiful and radiant amongst the challenges of cancer. This is accomplished through peer support group meetings, through engagement with local health care practitioners and therapists and through offering services of wellbeing to those affected by cancer via partnerships that May Cause Radiance has established with trained and certified professionals in a variety of wellness services. December saw a successful Radiance Yoga Series that was held at the Clarity Yoga Studio in Kamloops, BC. This was a weekly free yoga class to all Young Adults affected by cancer, and their supporter(s), and will be commencing again in the New Year - tune into their website (www.maycauseradiance.com) and Facebook page for information on this, as well as their Radiance Mala fundraiser! Join in the community of unconditional support!
The Last Leaves of the Crow BY CAROLYN TYTOR

Attitude in Mediation: The Key Factor for Success BY DANIEL MANDELBAUM Mediation is intervention in a dispute in order to resolve it.*
In order to have a successful mediation, the Mediator also
Mediation is an alternative way to resolve a dispute and at the same time a process, as such, we need a method, rule and some protocol to follow.
• Establishing a common agenda, • Being a good listener •
The process of mediation does not start in an office, not even on the phone. The process starts with the attitude of the couple. When a Mediator has first contact on the phone with a couple, one of the questions may be: “Why mediation?” Not only the why but the thought process to reach this option instead of litigation. With only these questions, we can see if the couple is ready or not. Their neutrality, intention, emotional stage and their attitude is important.
needs some skills:
Acknowledging not only the information but the speech of
each participant • Helping the participants to re-phrase or paraphrase some sentences with the goal to have certainty
that the message was received clearly, crossed re-phrase, summarized, etc.
In my experience as a couples therapist, the most important skill is to understand the unspoken challenges,
what the participant did not say, I call this “ to fill the gap”. When I help the sender of the message “fill the gap”, I can
sense we are in another stage of the process, and I can
understand the dynamic that is being played in session. The dynamic that in general, I choose to share with both parties - so they can produce a shift in the process.
More tension may be experienced. The tension must be seen, understood and worked with - the main goal being to
bring out the real challenge. We all need to know the true challenge, in order to finish mediation and the separation
agreement successfully.
Attitude is a key factor in mediation: it is behavior that shows the real intention. Right attitude means to come to
mediation with real values and real motivation to reach a
separation agreement. If you are openly looking for
fairness; if you really understand that both of you are part of the problem and both of you will need to negotiate a fair
separation or divorce, then mediation could work well for you.

Daniel works with a team of collaborative lawyers that share the belief that mediation is the most effective means of resolving conflict. www.familymediationcenter.ca 250-863-6399 12 www.InteriorWellness.com | Winter 2017
The Poetry of Chinese Medicine
A
BY ANDREA HANSEN
t the heart of Chinese medicine are the teachings of the Tao (literally translated as “The Way”). People seek to create a way of life that lives in harmony with nature and with one’s environment. When we are in harmony with the Tao, the sky is clear and spacious, the earth is solid and full, all creatures flourish together, content with the way they are, endlessly repeating themselves, endlessly renewed. Chinese Medicine is rather poetic, viewing each of us as organic beings interconnected with Nature and subject to its forces. It is believed that when we remove ourselves from our natural connections, we create patterns of disharmony, which ultimately lead to disease (dis-ease: not having common cause with Nature, our innate nature or the nature around us, resulting in discomfort or stress). Where the Tao discusses practices to cultivate inner calm and peace of the mind, Chinese Medicine works to assist you in nurturing inner physical and emotional harmony through restoring physiological functions and chemistry. With the integral interconnectedness of body and mind these two elements are partnered and nourish each other, and you, being true to our natural forces. Express yourself completely, then keep quiet Be like the forces of nature; when it blows, there is only wind when it rains, there is only rain when the clouds pass, the sun shines through then trust your natural responses and everything will fall into place -Tao Te Ching Dr. Andrea Hansen is an acupuncturist and classical Chinese herbalist. By approaching the human form as a microcosm of the natural world around us, Chinese medicine can help you find balance, a peaceful rhythm with your health and emotions. Andrea treats all kinds of conditions and illness and welcomes everyone to come and experience the wellness that Chinese medicine has to offer. www.wildrootsclinic.ca 250-682-7289 Winter 2017 | www.InteriorWellness.com 13
5 Steps to More Peace for Us and the World!
T
BY KRIS RAE
here has been a staggering amount of upheaval and
crisis in the world! On the other hand, we, as a society,
are more connected than ever and are striving for
peace for ourselves and for the world. We are beginning to
realize, and science is proving it more and more, that our
thoughts can influence our surroundings in profound ways. Here are 5 ways to bring more peace to our thoughts, minds and the world around us:
1. Notice all the good around. Notice the things we can
easily take for granted – running water, electricity, friends,
family, and a bed to sleep in!
2. Keep a “peace” inventory. What occurred during the day that can count towards peace? A walk in nature, reading
a book, or a hot bath at the end of the day. The more you
focus on the concept of peace, the more you will see it in your life.
3. Pray for or visualize peace. Ask for a blanket of peace over you, your loved ones and the entire world. Imagine
what peace would look like. Don’t worry about how to get
there, just picture it in a way that would feel good to you and trust that more peace is coming.
4. Notice details. Notice, with all your senses, the taste of
your food and drink, the feel of the textures around you,
the scents in the air, and the various sounds and sights
throughout the day. Taking the time to really notice keeps you present and has a calming effect!
5. Imagine sending out peace to the world. Pick a color that represents peace to you and imagine filling up yourself
with it, allowing it overflow and spreading all around the earth! Keep going until the world is bathed in it.

New Beginnings: Break Your Busy, Clean Your Calendar
W
BY JANICE OTREMBA
e associate the new year with a fresh start, but it’s hard to start fresh without wiping the slate clean and making room for something new. For a lot of us, it’s hard to let go. We have trouble saying no and quitting old habits - trying to avoid disappointing bosses, family, friends and missing out on something. In the process, we get stuck in a culture that demands us to be “busy” - to do more with less, to be responsive and flexible - which only leads to our eventual burnout. But what if we made more of an effort to create space in our own life for us?
Cleaning Out the Calendar
We’ve all got that running “to-do” list in our head groceries, work meetings, social gatherings, family events, etc. We fill our thoughts with the things we “should” be doing, which only feeds into negative self-talk about how incompetent and incapable we are and causes us to stress out unnecessarily.
Being busy ALL the time takes a toll on our mental, emotional and physical health. So rather than fill it up with “stuff” - let’s practice only saying yes to obligations and responsibilities that please US, rather than pleasing others. Our time is the most valuable commodity we have, It’s important that we prioritize it in a way that’s valuable to ourselves - which may mean doing a whole lot less, or at times - nothing at all. When we choose how busy we want to be, we build our confidence because, by accomplishing what we can do, we remind ourselves that we are capable and we are competent. Janice Otremba, is a certified facilitator and coach specializing in Beating Burnout, Lowering Stress and Powering Up Your Happy! “Let’s have a conversation and if we’re a fit and get you to where you really want to be.” www.janiceotremba.com

Benefits of a Professional
Facial Treatment
T
BY TRINA GOEBEL
he Skin on our body ages and changes from the moment of birth and because of it, it is very important to maintain a basic regimen to keep it healthy and youthful. The thing about the outer layer of the body is that it has a lot to battle on a daily basis with just the environmental forces of pollution and weather. What a person consumes in the diet greatly affects the body from the inside out so eating healthy and drinking at least 8 glasses of water a day has a great impact on the condition of our skin. Medications, alcohol, smoking and stress can create havoc as well leading to premature aging. A daily routine of cleansing, toning, and moisturizing is recommended and it only takes a few minutes to do. Exfoliate and mask at least once a week to remove dead skin cells to replenish damaged tissues. It also aids to the profit
of taking time out and releasing stress even if it is only for 10 to 20 minutes. A professional Facial treatment will not only provide results oriented benefits and an analysis of what treatments are necessary to maintain and improve the skin, but it will also entertain an incredible relaxing experience. So who is a facial for? Anyone and everyone can benefit from some sort of facial treatment. No matter the age, sex or ethnicity, the skin loves to be pampered! A facial procedure should be performed by a fully trained and qualified Skin technician (Esthetician) that can provide the client the proper treatment and information recommended for their skin. Treatments for acne, dullness, wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, rosacea, dehydration, dryness, oiliness, etc., are created to promote a clearer, calmer, plumper and a more youthful appearance. Through the guidance of a trained skin care specialist specific products will be prescribed for a home care regimen that will help gain continued beneficial results. The Esthetician will then recommend future treatments and book appointments according to the client’s availability, need and affordability. Selecting a Spa and product line is not an easy task, ask your friends and family for recommendations and do your research. Organic is the way to go these days, adding natural organic and biodynamic products to the skin has so many replenishing and fortifying qualities, rather than chemicals and manufactured ingredients and preservatives that may have short term results but long term disadvantages. Having a professional facial is a wonderful experience and it can be considered a great pampering gift to give anyone for any occasion. Trina M. Goebel has been a certified esthetician with a C.D.E.S.C.O International Diploma for 24 years, she has experience as a Practitioner, Business owner, Product Educator, and College Instructor . She is presently the Spa manager for Le7ke Spa at the Quaaout Lodge situated on the little Shuswap lake in Chase B.C.

A Solution to Back-Pain Whole Body Vibration
BY LAURA PELLETIER
If you have weak muscles, poor posture and/or are carrying excess weight, your back will be one of the first places you feel the strain and its subsequent pain. Your back and torso is comprised of core muscles. This is where all of our bodily movements originate and they are central to our body’s strength and power. The core muscles consist of 5 basic muscle groups. The abdominals run from the sternum to the pelvis. Lying just below the abdominals are the transverse abdominus muscles. Off to the sides, are the oblique muscles which make up what we commonly refer to as the waistline. Beneath the external oblique muscles are the internal obliques. Around to the back, the muscles that run parallel to the spine are also part of the core and they are often referred to as the spinal erectors. These spinal erectors are the most common source of back pain.
body at a higher and faster rate than normal. By using Whole Body Vibration equipment to strengthen the core muscles you can stabilize the entire body during all its movements. The more these core muscles are strengthened, the more support they can provide for the spinal erectors and the entire body during all of the movements we make on a daily basis, from lifting a heavy wash basket to reaching high to pick an apple.

Whenever you neglect exercising these important muscles, the muscles will tend to atrophy and become weaker, less flexible and more and more subject to pain over time. This causes the body to be at a higher risk for injuries, especially back, neck and hip injuries. Back injuries and lower back pain are most often caused by muscle weakness and/or stiffness. Without sufficient strength in the core muscles, ordinary movements such as stretching, bending, pulling or pushing will go unsupported, leaving the body at risk for injury. Poor posture and visceral fat (belly fat) is also a result of core muscle weakness. An excellent solution to this problem is to try out Whole Body Vibration. The machine generates multiple muscle contractions per second and the resulting stimulation improves the critically important blood circulation and oxygenation to the core muscles. The improved circulation, supplying freshly oxygenated blood, increases the cells’ ability to respond to hormones, absorb nutrients and minerals. This allows new tissues to build and grow, increasing metabolism and flushing the toxins out of the Winter 2017 | www.InteriorWellness.com 23
HERBALISM A BRIEF HISTORY BY KATHY DEANE DNM RHT RNT MH HEALTH EDUCATOR ©
Gen 1:20 And God said, "See, I have given you every herb that yields seed which is on the face of all the earth, and every tree whose fruit yields seed; to you it shall be for food. Psalm 104: 14 He causeth the grass to grow for the cattle and herbs for the service of humanity. The grass root - The term “herb” pertains to vegetation – both nutritional and medicinal. These include such forms as grains, nuts, seeds, vegetables and fruits. I believe herbs are a gift from Nature’s author God. These leaves, bark, berries, roots, gum, seeds, stems and flowers have been used by every civilization of man upon earth to help maintain good health, and to treat their illnesses and ailments. Knowledge of their use has been handed down through the generations since the earliest history of man. The Bible refers to over 200 plus recorded instances of herbs being utilized for medicinal purposes. Herbalism is the oldest, most tested, and proven form of NATURAL MEDICINE in the world. The Ebers Papyrus of the ancient Egyptians lists 85 herbs, some of which are used in a similar way today. The Chinese herbal, Pen Tsao, contains over a thousand herbal remedies. The Assyrian and Babylonian scribes wrote herbal recipes on clay tablets. AND The famous Greek Hippocrates (477 - 360 BC) mentions herbs, remedies, and treatments which are still valid today. There is much practical and theoretical knowledge to be rediscovered. Today people are returning to nature, which

is always simple and uncomplicated. Herbs are cleansing and strengthening for our body when used with good judgment and common sense. “When used correctly, herbs promote the elimination of waste matter and poisons from the system by simple, natural means. They support nature in its fight against disease...” Thomas Edison What is a healing herb? The word herb comes from the Latin for grass. Technically, herbs are plants that wither each autumn, plants other than shrubs or trees. But many shrubs and trees are used in herbal healing, such as barberry, bay laurel, and slippery elm, for example. To an herbalist, “Healing Herbs” include every plant with medicinal value. How did plants first come to be used for treating sickness? This takes us back to prehistory, to the time of unwritten records. It is widely considered that many treatments were introduced from accumulated observations arising from instinctive behavior, from observations on the habits of animals, and from trial and error on humans. In the past as in the present, many plants have served both as foods and as medicines. The healing properties of plants have not changed. What was a healing herb a thousand years ago is still a healing herb. GOD BLESSED US WITH EVERYTHING ON THIS PLANET INCLUDING THE PLANTS FOR OUR MEDICINAL USE.

Love Is Sustainable

One year ago, December 29th, the same evening that an
earthquake hit the west-coast of Vancouver Island, my mother Muriel, left her earthly body, and transitioned into

arrived at home, I received a call, from her care facility where she resided to a voice on the other end saying, "Hello

Steps for Living in Gratitude
W
BY HELEN WHITTLE hat are you grateful for? How can you move on if you cannot acknowledge and be grateful for what you have in your life? Transforming your world is possible by having an attitude of gratitude. The following tips may help achieve this. • Morning gratitude exercise should include being thankful for what you have and who you are. Thinking positive thoughts will allow your brain wave patterns to operate in a more loving way.
• Do you believe in asking for help, and giving permission for spirit to assist you in your life? Are you asking to be divinely directed to where you would like to go in your future? • Do you make space in your life to relax and to be present and to enjoy each and every moment? Is there balance in your life?
• Centering and grounding yourself every day is important. Do this especially before any important event by breathing in deeply and going within in stillness. • As situations unfold in your life do you take the time to think rationally as well as intuitively?
• Can you receive graciously in your life and say thank you?
• Are you open to what you may need in your life? Listen to the subtle messages of your body.
• Are you thankful for the people and family who are in your life? Realize you are blessed to have them beside you.
• Are you forgiving of the ones who may have hurt you? Resentment and bitterness inhibits happiness and may keep you stuck in a place you would prefer to move on from.
• Peace of mind and heart is what we all must strive for. Make a conscious effort to be there fully in each moment. Listen with an open heart and mind. emember as a child playing on a merry go round? You stood and held on to that metal bar while the other kids ran along the outside and pushed and spun you around and around. The faster it went the more you were pinned to that bar. That was so much fun wasn’t it? Well, at least until you wanted off!
No matter how sick or scared you were, jumping off wasn’t an option. The wheel was just going too fast and staying put seemed much safer. It suddenly wasn’t fun anymore and you were stuck.
So you waited, hoping and praying that someone would stop it or at least slow it down to a speed that you felt safe to jump off.
Well, here’s what happened: To get off of it, you had to first make the decision that you wanted off. Once that desire took over, you found a way to get off. You either just jumped or you asked for help from someone else to slow it down. Until you made the decision to get off, you remained stuck on the wheel. Just like the merry-go-round, many of us are living stuck in a cycle of behaviour not knowing how to make it stop. Are you stuck with a habit or paradigm that is keeping you from achieving your goals?
Just like the merry go round, until you make the decision to jump you will to be stuck.
You must break the cycle by first making the decision to have what you want. No wavering. You are either going to move on it or not. Simple! Just decide. Only then will you begin to move towards the results you want. Fran Banting is a Leadership and Performance Consultant, and

FIGHT COLDS & FLU WITH WHOLE BODY VIBRATION
BY LAURA PELLETIER old and flu season is starting and it’s time to take action. Studies show that exercise helps to boost your immune system - which assists in fighting simple infections like colds and flu. Whole Body Vibration (WBV) is a safe, efficient and effective type of exercise that can be very beneficial when you have a cold. Exercising on a Whole Body Vibration’s low impact, oscillating platform really prompts lymphatic drainage and the movement of fluids throughout the body. Try standing on a WBV platform with your legs straight (knees not locked), and allow yourself to feel the vibrations in your head for a minute. Next, tilt your head back a little to stretch under the chin. This helps to clear the lymph ducts of the throat of mucous and other toxic debris. These lymph ducts are responsible for draining the sinuses and nasal passages and generally clearing stuffiness from the head. You’ll feel your sinuses drain within minutes of standing on
the vibrating WBV platform, indicating that the lymphatic drainage is occurring and pressure in the sinus cavities is being relieved. Remember it’s important to listen to your body, and not over exert yourself. Over-doing it could stress your immune system even more and prolong your illness. This is why low impact Whole Body Vibration exercise is so important. So, as soon as you begin to feel the symptoms of a cold or flu coming on, “nip it in the bud” and get that lymphatic drainage going with Whole Body Vibration exercise.
