Sizes: 4” wide x 6” high Materials: * 7-count Clear Plastic Canvas - 1 sheet needed for each Friend * 7-count STIFF Clear Plastic Canvas - 1 sheet needed for Pine Tree * #16 Tapestry Needle * 4-ply worsted weight yarn (Red Heart Brand listed) - See individual patterns for amounts needed 311 White 245 Orange 341 Light Grey 254 Pumpkin 312 Black 512 Turqua (Turquoise) 372 Rose Pink 334 Buff (Beige) 885 Delft Blue 336 Warm Brown 530 Orchid 390 Hot Red 528 Medium Purple 368 Paddy Green * Optional: you can add weight to the bodies, by inserting a small fabric pouch or zip bag of beans or plastic filler pellets – please use caution if making for a small child.

Basic Instructions for all Friends: NOTE: For the Body and Head graphs, make sure that you have your pieces facing the same as the graphs: the smaller side tab is on the Left and the larger tab is on the Right. Oval Body: Cut Body from plastic canvas (18 holes high x 42 holes wide) following graph. Stitch all continental stitches first, then any backstitches and French Knots. Make any Turkey Loops next, on top of continental stitches, before whipstitching into oval shape. To make into oval Body: whipstitch (using matching yarn colors as shown by outlines on graphs) short edges together between A and B. Continuing on to the top, bend edges to meet and whipstitch between B to C, then D to E, then F to G, then H to I, then J to K and then L to M. Repeat for the bottom. There will be a small hole at the top and bottom, which is intentional. Red numbers on graphs show placement of Arms and Tails. Tails are attached BEFORE Body is whipstitched closed and Arms and Feet are attached AFTER Body is whipstitched closed, but BEFORE Head is attached to Body. If desired, add a pouch or small zip bag of weighted pellets inserted BEFORE completely stitching the body closed. Round Head: Cut Head from plastic canvas (27 holes high x 60 hole wide) following graph. Stitch all continental stitches first, then any backstitches and French Knots. Make any Turkey Loops next, on top of continental stitches, before whipstitching into round shape. To make into round Head: whipstitch (using matching yarn colors as shown by outlines on graphs) short edges together between A and B. Continuing on to the top, bend edges to meet and whipstitch between B to C, then C to D, then E to C, then C to F, then G to C and then C to H. Make a few extra stitches across the top hole to close. Repeat whipstitching the parts together for the bottom (no need to close the small bottom hole with stitches as this won’t show when attached to the Body). Red Heart and X symbols show placement of ears or other head parts. Some parts are attached before whipstitching Head closed; some after – refer to specific instructions. Attaching Head to Body: Keep the A to B joined seams at the back of the animal. Line up the center of the Head with the center panel of the Body and with matching yarn, tack Head to Body. You may need to stitch around the Head and Body several times to stitch it securely in place.
