The site of this project was used as a public leisure and trading venue for local fishermen in about 300 years ago. In order to increase the handling capacity, local government built the Yanwu Bridge on the west side of the site. However, the bridge blocked the original entrance of the dock. As a result, the vibrant activities on the dock at Shapowei gradually diminished. Although the original look was retained in surrounding streets and lanes of the site, the dock is not prosperous as before. Also timeworn facilities and poor living situation became the essential issues for the site regeneration.

Ea s t-wes t c ross-sec ti on The renovated traditional buildings retained the local culture elements and original structure. They naturally separate the relative private inner bay of Shapowei from the sea on the west side. However, high permeable morphology of these renovated public buildings could increase space integration of each side.

The large space of the original factory building is transformed into a cultural exhibition area, and the frame embedded with the basic elements of the sloping roof serves as a gray space that links the building before it can hold various indoor and outdoor art exhibition
In order to preserve the original building, the frame of the building structure was left and re-reinforced, and small boxes were randomly embedded to form different physical spaces, which became the best viewing platform in Shapowei
Landscape In order to enrich the large area of construction vacant land, use the reproducibility and different modulus plank road to increase the space playability
Penetrability There are only pedestrians in the park, which is isolated from the roads outside, but you can see the sea to the west through the gaps

This project designed a multifunctional public community center containing modern public rooms, book bar and other public space. It serves as a living room for the community. It was built on the west of the community entrance. In day time, the building could harmoniously merge in surrounding environment; and in night time it could guide people home with gentle radiance.
Site Background The site is located at Taihu lakeside, Suzhou, a welloff historical and cultural Chinese city. The project aimed to design a public community centre for local residents. The site is chosen beside the intersection of urban roads and the community main lane across the middle of the community. It could serve as a lobby of the community.

The public community centre was designed as a small buildings complex. It shaped a courtyard overall through buildings and corridors arrangement. Moreover, corridors and courtyard could not only linked different functional space but also partition off the positive and negative space. Also, corridors and courtyard could improve the visibility and intelligibility of the layout.

The amount of older adualts increases rapidly in Germany , however there are less specializing public facilities for older people. This project investigated the physical and psychological needs of older adults in Germany. Also it provided the functional space to fulfill the need of older adults.

Hut - Smart Morphism Design Studio | 2021.01-2021.03 Individual Work
The machine learning development has rapidly changed our way to understand the word and brought new potentials to our design workflow. This project aimed to come up with and evaluate a new design solution by the means of machine learning. In this process, I extracted, decoded and encoded the design parameters from the surrounding environments. Then the optimal solutions were selected from all results for further structural and morphological optimization.

Two design drivers, people flow and building height, were chosen for initially environment coding. The shape of bund in Shanghai is used as the physical constraint in the design process to generate the ideal design space through Backparopagation Algorithm. Machine learning quantitative parameters was applied to evaluate the results as the criterion of the best spatial qualities leading the ideal aesthetic effect.
