Communication between kettle and the user
Kettle Plus + 2011, 2013 Adding an idea from a natural phenomenon 16.29

This product is about communication between the user and kettle though the physcial transformation of it. I observed the fact that people don't know whether their kettle has been worked or not, or whether it is still hot or not after boiling, before they touch the surface of kettle. I was focusing about the physical changing of shape of a kettle, by using steam from boiled water. Visually, the speed of spining windmill on the kettle indicate the strength of steam, which means visualizing the temperature of the water inside of the kettle. It allows people knowing instantly whether they can use the water in kettle immediately or not.

Visualising it with a windmill allows communication between kettle and the user.
The windmill looking could be like a ower, so it can give more poetic theme to the product
Raise Me Up Multi-outlet 2007 Universal Design Raise Me Up is a power board designed to allow the user to remove electrical plugs from it easily. A conventional power board requires the user to place one hand on the power board and use the other hand to pull the plug out. Raise Me Up makes the pulling of plugs from a power board easier, as the design enables this task to be done with one hand. Each socket point on the power board is designed with a lever, which makes it easier for the user to pull the plug out without having to stoop or use both hands. This lever also covers the power board so that it reduces the possibility of dust getting in it.

1 PENCE coin Bank for London
A Half-pint beer
2011 Knowing the value of coins This object is about visualising the value of coins. People normally save coins in a messy way. No one knows how much value inside of their coin bank. Hence I propose a simple but clever way of saving that allows people to match the visual experience to a glass of beer or hamburger at a glance.

Desktop Collection - Pen Pot 2013 Team work with Hanhsi Chen Form follows function. Function follows form. Using existing materials in smarter way to create new products could be a way to save eort and energy throughout the process of manufacting.
