2000s

Donna M. (Fowler) Ferguson ‘84 (York, PA) is the author and illustrator of four children’s books, including Rail Trail Kitten and Tagalong Turtle.

Stefanina F. Baker ‘05 (Wilmington, DE) published an article with EdSurge titled “Where Does Personalized Learning End and Special Education Begin?” as part of the EdSurge Fifty State Project, representing Delaware. She is an English and special education teacher with the Colonial School District in New Castle, DE.

Debra (Porter) Johnson ‘88 earned her doctorate in October 2019. Rev. J. Thomas Shelley ‘81 (Loganville, PA) was ordained to the Holy Diaconate of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America on April 10, 2022, at the hand of His Eminence Metropolitan SAVAS of Pittsburgh at the Greek Orthodox Church of the Annunciation, York, PA.

1990s Kevin D. Jackson ‘99 (York, PA) has been named to the Board of Directors of WellSpan Health. He is the Chief Experience Officer for The Wolf Organization, LLC, and is currently a trustee of the College. C. John J. Sullivan, III ‘94 (Fallston, MD) has been appointed by President Biden as USDA State Executive Director, Farm Service Agency, Maryland. He has also served as the Past President and is a current board member of the Maryland Agricultural Education Foundation and the Maryland Agricultural Council.

Alpana N. Chhibber ‘07 (Owings Mills, MD) presented a workshop on racial justice issues at the New Salem Public Library in Massachusetts in November 2021. She is the Middle School Dean of Students at The Park School of Baltimore and a lead facilitator for Molina Consulting, offering national diversity, equity, and inclusion training programs. Jenna L. (Miller) Lawrence ‘07 (Spring Grove, PA) is the Assistant Director of Operations and Marketing for Windy Hill Senior Center in Spring Grove. Jenna R. (Handy) Wagner ‘08 (Carlisle, PA) has been named to the newly created position of Chief Practice Officer with McNees Wallace & Nurick LLC law firm.

Daniel A. Verbit ‘05 (York, PA) has been accepted as a Senior Member into the Academy of Health Information Professionals (AHIP), a peerreviewed, accomplishment/ portfolio-based certification program for health information professionals. He recently wrote a chapter, “Funding the Makerspace,” in Makerspaces in practice: Successful models for implementation, published by American Library Association Press.

2010s Kristen M. (Evans) Dempwolf ‘13 (York, PA) is the new Chief Marketing Officer for The Pretzel Company, the e-commerce presence of York City Pretzel Co. Candice N. Rice ‘17 (Highspire, PA), a human resources consultant, has been hired by Saxton & Stump law firm of Lancaster, PA. She also serves on the board of directors for the Human Resources Professionals of Central PA as the diversity chair. Megan R. (Rickell) Shaffer ‘12 (New Freedom, PA) is a perioperative RN with WellSpan Health at Apple Hill Surgical Center in York.

2020s Kelsey M. Snively ‘20 (Roebling, NJ) is the Executive Director of the Haaf Family Arts Foundation, Inc., a new 501(c)3 organization located in Beverly, NJ, that provides arts education to residents of all ages at minimal to no cost.

Weddings and Engagements Jenna L. Miller ‘06 married Brent Lawrence on October 2, 2021. The couple resides in Spring Grove, PA.

Birth Announcements Adrienne M. Freeland ‘07 (Palmyra, PA) and her husband, Mark Swalm, welcomed a son, Jackson Alexander, on October 20, 2021.

Deceased ALUMNI Ronald B. Barndt ‘67 (Coopersburg, PA), April 9, 2021. He attended York Junior College and then earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Bloomsburg University. He was a business teacher at Southern Lehigh High School for 36 years, retiring in 2005, where he was also the head wrestling coach for 20 years. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Bonnie, two children, and two granddaughters. Stephen W. Busch ‘76/MBA’82 (York, PA), November 26, 2021. He opened the first one-hour photo business in York County and also worked for the York City Human Relations Commission and White Rose Community Television. He was very involved with Little League baseball in York City and served as the treasurer for several years. He is survived by his wife, Debra, three children, and three grandchildren.

Robert C. Edgerton ‘91 (Litchfield Township, PA), February 25, 2022. After majoring in Criminal Justice at the College, he attended the PA State Police Academy and served as a Pennsylvania State Trooper for 30 years, retiring in June 2021. He is survived by his two children. W. Thomas Klinedinst, Jr. ‘58, (York, PA) January 20, 2021. He attended York Junior College, then earned a marketing degree from the University of Denver. He also served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was an avid baseball player and golfer, and was a lifetime member of the Out Door Country Club. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Joann, two children, and four grandchildren. Amanda R. Paris ‘08 (Gettysburg, PA), January 20, 2022. She was employed by PeoplesBank for the last 10 years. She is survived by her parents and a son, Joseph Tyler. Edwin A. Resser ‘62 (York, PA), February 7, 2022. He attended York Junior College and also earned a bachelor’s degree from then Millersville State College, a master’s degree from then Shippensburg State College, and an administrative certification from the former Western Maryland College. He worked for the West York Area and West Shore school districts, retiring in 1998. He is survived by his wife of more than 57 years, Linda Ann (Joseph) ‘61, two children, and three granddaughters.

Faith E. (Shirk) Sidler ‘73 (Danville, PA), December 7, 2021. She worked for the U.S. Post Office in Millville, PA, and is survived by her two children and a granddaughter. Dr. Gurney “George” E. Strouse ‘84 (Dover, PA), November 22, 2021. He was an Associate Professor (emeritus) of Business Administration at the College. Joy A. Stitt-Sigler ‘82 (Glenville, PA), February 26, 2022, in Charleston, SC. She was a Master Gardener, an avid reader, and a baker. She received her BSN from the State University of New York and a combined Bachelor of Science degree in Business and Accounting from the College. A scholarship fund has been established in Joy’s name to be awarded annually to a senior Nursing student at York College. Susan C. Weaver ‘84, (Danville, PA) January 25, 2022. She also earned a degree from Bloomsburg University and worked as both a social worker and a high school English teacher, retiring in 2016. She is survived by her two children. Robert A. Zigment MBA’88 (Whiteford, MD), March 27, 2022. He was a successful businessman who served in numerous positions throughout the food industry, most recently as CEO/CFO at Zook Molasses Co., L&S Sweeteners, Good Food, Inc. He is survived by his wife, Julie, their two sons, his three stepchildren, and three children from a previous marriage.

FRIENDS Kathryn “Doodle” E. (Kirschner) Bentz (York, PA), October 20, 2021. She was an active member of the community, holding leadership roles with many organizations including Junior League of York, York County History Center, United Way, and the Women’s Auxiliary of York College. She is survived by her three daughters and four grandchildren. Her husband of 57 years, Lester W. Bentz, Jr., passed away in 2013. Dr. Robert F. Denoncourt (York, PA), November 15, 2021. He accepted a position with the College in 1969 and was instrumental in establishing and guiding the Biological Sciences Department in 1971. He was a popular and dynamic professor for 25 years, inspiring hundreds of students. He is survived by his six children, 14 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren. His wife of 66 years, Ann, passed away in January 2021. Matthew F. Fogleman (York, PA), January 3, 2022. He served as an adjunct professor of music at the College, as well as on the board of the York Junior Youth Symphony and with the Lutheran Camping Corporation. He met his wife, Beth, at camp in the summer of 1979; they were married for 40 years and have five children.

Patsy C. (Swank) Markey (York, PA), January 16, 2022. She served as the treasurer for her graduating class of the York Hospital School of Nursing. She is survived by her husband, Ray, and their four children, 12 grandchildren, and one greatgrandchild. Melinda Miller Seidel (York, PA and Largo, FL), January 21, 2021. She and her family established the William H. Miller, Jr., Scholarship at the College. Charles F. Wuestner, Jr. (Lancaster, PA), December 8, 2021. He earned a degree from Lehigh University, then joined the U.S. Marine Corps, serving three years of active duty and five years in the reserves. He had a 30-year career with SKF, the world’s largest manufacturer of ball bearings.
