1990s

After a career in medicine and the U.S. Army, Dr. John C. Britcher ‘59 (Olympia, WA) has retired and written his first book, Looking Beyond the Obvious in Therapy, which deals with his extensive treatment of trauma victims.

Scott D. Finestone ‘83 (Orlando, FL) self-published a spy novel, Pegasus Falling, which prominently features the College in its early chapters while the lead character is getting recruited by the CIA.

Peter W. Ioppolo ‘90 (Newfoundland, PA) is the Principal of Delaware Valley Middle School and is marking 27 years in education and 23 years as a secondary administrator. He earned a doctorate degree in educational leadership and is proud to be part of a school that earned a National Blue Ribbon of Excellence.

Robert F. Granzow III ‘83 (Columbia, PA) was named one of the Most Influential People in Security in 2021. He is the Director and Administrator for the Administrative Office of Pennsylvania Courts (AOPC). Edward Gruver ‘83 (Lancaster, PA) has written his eighth book, Bringing the Monster to Its Knees, about golf legend Ben Hogan, published by Lyons Press, New York. He has previously written books on the Pittsburgh Steelers, the National Football League, and Major League Baseball.

1970s Ronald L. Besser ‘75 (York, PA) has published his second book, The Origins of AIDS and Autism. Bringing the Monster to Its Knees, by Edward Gruver ‘83

Patrick J. Noble ‘94 (Whitefish Bay, WI) has been with Annex Wealth Management in Milwaukee for seven years as a subject matter expert on the firm’s financial planning and estate planning teams. He has two sons, ages 14 and 11, and has been married to Susan since 2004.

2000s Mary Beth E. (Hare) Ching ‘04 (York, PA) is the Chief of Staff for Investment Real Estate LLC in York. She also coordinated a 20th anniversary reunion event for YCP Rhapsody, the studentrun a cappella group that was started in Spring 2001 by Erin N. (Higgins) Irving ‘04/’10 and Kenneth W. Platt ‘03. The reunion was held at John Rudy County Park in York on Saturday, August 7, 2021. Alumni members traveled from all over, some as far as four hours, to gather for a potluck picnic and the reunion ended with the singing of the group’s very first song, “Build Me Up Buttercup.” Original members in attendance included Platt, Ching, Kathleen Payne ‘05, and Justin P. Kauffman ‘03.

Four York College alumni have been named recipients of Central Penn Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 Awards for 2021. Anthony D. Crerand ‘06 (Rohrerstown, PA), Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health; Jessica E. Delp ‘09 (York, PA), Girl Scouts in the Heart of Pennsylvania; Charles R. Eisenhart ‘09 (York, PA), McKonly and Asbury; and Johnathon W. Heller, CPA ‘10 (York, PA), RKL LLP. Winners were honored at the Harrisburg Hilton on October 14, 2021.

2010s Casey J. Biesecker ‘17 (Frederick, MD) has been promoted to Assistant Property Manager for the Virginia and Central Maryland Division with St. John Properties, Inc.

YCP Rhapsody Fall 2021

Stephen M. Matthews ‘14 (Honey Brook, PA) received his PhD in Biomedical Sciences in June 2021 from Penn State College of Medicine. He is currently a postdoctoral research fellow at the Cleveland Clinic. Todd M. Stephens ‘02 (Greencastle, PA) is the new Head Basketball Coach for the Greencastle-Antrim Blue Devils.

Megan M. Tyson ‘21 (York, PA) is an English teacher with York City School District and recently published an article in the July 2021 issue of Issues and Trends in Learning Technologies entitled, “Impact of Augmented Reality on Vocabulary Acquisition and Retention.”

Weddings and Engagements Elizabeth A. Ballwanz ‘14 (Red Lion, PA) became engaged to Stephan Platts on September 10, 2021. Bria M. Jones ‘17 and Darien P. Gray ‘17, both of Baltimore, MD, were married on August 28, 2021, at Sylvanside Farm in Purcellville, VA.

Stephanie A. Morrison ‘05/’11 and Nicholas J. Mancini ‘03, both of York, PA, were married on April 30, 2021. Megan M. Shoop ‘18 (Port Royal, PA) and Jared L. Benner of Thompsontown, PA, were married on August 8, 2020, at Lily Manor in Mifflin, PA. Clair E. “CJ” Weigle ‘16 (York, PA) and Rebecca H. Ream, also of York, were married on October 24, 2020, in Loganville, PA, at Brown’s Orchards and Farm Market.

Deceased ALUMNI Richard M. “Rick” Brockman ‘73 (Frederick, MD), September 20, 2021. He was co-owner of Women’s Custom Cleaning Service with his wife of 30 years, Rosemary. William J. Egan ‘94 (Cranford, NJ), June 7, 2021. He was a member of the Sigma Pi fraternity and is survived by his wife of 22 years, Michele (Shea) ‘96. Dale J. Hatrock ‘14 (Levittown, PA), August 29, 2021. He was a member of the Beta Beta Beta Honors Society and had been living in Montreal, Canada, for the past two years, pursuing a PhD in Neurobiology. He is survived by his partner, Sarah S. Sindelar ‘16.

Troy A. Krout ‘86 (York, PA), November 5, 2020. He worked for the Country Club of York as the Lead Irrigation Technician. He was currently the longesttenured employee of the Club since he began working parttime there in 1982 while still in college. Dorothy W. (Preston) “Dot” McClenaghan ‘47 (York, PA), September 7, 2021. She attended York Junior College and was a teacher for York City School District for over 22 years, as well as for three years for Central School District. Lorraine (Atherton) “Lorri” Privitera ‘96 (Chantilly, VA), March 11, 2020. She also earned a master’s degree in English from Fairleigh Dickinson University and worked in corporate communications for Pfaltzgraff, General Motors, and USAA. Traci (DeDominicis) Renner ‘87 (Waldorf, MD), September 3, 2021. Traci and her husband, Craig ‘86, met at the College in a bowling class and were married in 1987. She worked as the librarian at Archbishop Neale School in LaPlata, MD, since 2001 and was recently voted Charles County Teacher of the Year for 2020-2021.

Marilyn S. (Zuckerman) Slagel (Savannah, GA), June 18, 2021. She is survived by her husband, Robert. Helmut H. Wirschal ‘80 (York, PA), September 19, 2021. He earned an MBA from the College, as well as a bachelor’s degree in Engineering from Dresden University in Germany and a Professional Engineering degree from Penn State. FRIENDS Teresa (Kotzman) Rose (York, PA), September 18, 2021. She served for 27 years as the Assistant Director of Nursing Services at York Hospital.
