Seventies James W. Laughlin '79 (Hanover, PA) has retired as Police Chief of Penn Township after 35 1/2 years of service. He worked his entire career in Penn Township and plans to travel with his wife during his retirement.

Eighties Linda Amos ′84 (York, PA) had two poems, "Gone!" and "Enthralled!" published in the January/February 2018 issue of Amulet Magazine. David M. Transue '86 (Ocean Gate, NJ) has published a fiction novel titled Bounding Up the Steps. He recently retired to the Jersey Shore.

Nineties Troy M. Bankert '97 (Spring Grove, PA) was named interim Chief of Police for York City in January 2018 after the retirement of Chief Wes Kahley '05. Brock R. Hively '97 (York, PA) was named Co-Chair, along with Joshua P. Smeltzer '08, of the York Heart Ball by the American Heart Association in Wormleysburg, PA. He is currently First Vice President, Partner and Financial Advisor with The Sides Group of RBC Wealth Management. Shannon K. (Reedy) Idzik '96 (Kingsville, MD) was inducted as a fellow into the 2017 American Academy of Nursing. Kathryn A. (Bell) Leonard '98 (Scranton, PA) has been selected as the next President & CEO of Johnson College, effective July 1, 2018. (See her profile on page 30 of 2018 Vol. 1 York College Magazine.) Abigail Strouse '97/MS '08 (York, PA) received a 2017 Nightingale Award, presented annually to nurses practicing in Pennsylvania, in the category of Nursing Administration-Executive. She is the Director of Clinical Services for WellSpan York Hospital. Patricia "Pat" A. (Tipping) Torbert '90 (York, PA) has been appointed Director of Finance with Penn-Mar Human Services. Heather L. Weddle '97 (York, PA) was named a member of UPMC Pinnacle Supportive Care and Palliative Medicine’s clinical team.

Two-Thousands Eric L. Alleman '07 (Chambersburg, PA) was named Assistant Vice President and Regional Sales Manager for ACNB Bank in their north Gettysburg office. Justin C. Ayala '01 (York, PA) was named Director of the stARTSomething Arts in Education program, which promotes learning in and through the arts in Adams, Franklin, Fulton and York counties. , Stefanina F. Baker '05 (Hockessin, DE) was selected to represent the state of Delaware in EdSurge, a national education publication, for a series that chooses one teacher from each state to write an article. Her article was titled “Where Does Personalized Learning End and Special Education Begin?” Robert V. Blauser MBA'08 (Ephrata, PA) has been hired as the Vice President of Operations with GSM Industrial in Lancaster, PA. Franklin R. Cragle III ‘06 (Richmond, VA) was named a partner with Hirschler Fleischer law firm. Eric C. Deaner '09 (New Oxford, PA) joined First Capital Federal Credit Union as the Marketing and Business Development Specialist. Steven M. Frank '06 (Reading, PA) was named Manager of Business Consulting Services for Lynch Financial LLC.


Christa M. (Sanders) Hake '05 (Spring Grove, PA) was promoted to Reporting Analyst in the Advancement Services Department of the College on December 1, 2017. Stephanie E. (Brown) Kane '06 (Douglassville, PA), a CPA with the Tax Services Group at RKL LLP, was promoted to Manager. Caroline E. Kauffman-Kirschnick '03 (Lutherville-Timonium, MD) was appointed President of Electric Motor Repair Co., taking control of the family-owned business from her father, Roger Kauffman. D. Hunter Mink '05 (York, PA) was named a partner with RKL LLP. He is a CPA and Manager in the audit services group and a member of the real estate development and construction industry group. David A. Myers '05 (Hanover, PA), a CPA, was named Supervisor with Smith Elliott Kearns & Company LLC. Chad M. Paules '00 (York, PA) was named Vice President and Wealth Adviser for the Wealth Management Division of PeoplesBank. Ivy R. Schneider '04 (New Cumberland, PA) will be honored with the 2018 Women of Influence Special Award for Community Achievement at a Central Penn Business Journal ceremony to be held on Monday, June 19, 2018, at the Hilton Harrisburg. Joshua P. Smeltzer '08 (York, PA) was named Co-Chair, along with Brock R. Hively '97, of the York Heart Ball by the American Heart Association in Wormleysburg, PA. He is currently Senior Vice President, Partner and Financial Advisor with The Sides Group of RBC Wealth Management.

Two Thousand and Tens Edward D. Dillon '11 (Chestertown, MD) has joined Shore United Bank in Ridgely, MD, as Branch Manager. Emma Georgantis '16 (York, PA) joins AllSearch Staffing Group as part of the company’s Business Development Associate training program. Andrew J. Gotliffe '11 (Chattanooga, TN) has joined Southeastern Tool & Die in Greenbrier, TN, as a Machine Design Engineer. He was previously with Westinghouse Electric for seven years. Aja J. Gray '14 (York, PA) received her Master's degree in Social Work in 2016 and also became a licensed social worker. Melissa D. (Smith) Magassouba '15 (Westminster, MD) and her husband, Moriba Magassouba, opened Magass Family Medicine & Urgent Care in Finksburg, MD, in February 2018.


Weddings and Engagements Emily C. Beard '15 (York, PA) and Sean C. Naylor '15 (Eldersburg, MD) have announced their engagement. A November 2018 wedding is planned. Andrea R. Beaver '09 and Andrew S. Flythe, both of Raleigh, NC, were engaged on April 2, 2017. Their wedding is planned for November 3, 2018, in Raleigh.

Frederick A. Bianco '72 (Cockeysville, MD) was married at St. Augustine's Church in Ocean City, NJ, on November 4, 2017, to Sherri E. Logan of Laytonsville, MD, and the reception was held at the historic Flanders Hotel. The couple just built a home in Cape May, NJ, where they will relocate this summer. Kristina M. Craven '16 (White Marsh, MD) and Joshua T. Brennan '15 (Bangor, PA) were married on June 2, 2017, in Gettysburg, PA. The couple resides in Middle River, MD.

Jennifer A. Ginnetty '14 (South Glastonbury, CT) and Chase C. Black (Cockeysville, MD) announced their engagement in January 2018. An October 2018 wedding is planned. Loren A. Hall '05 (York, PA) and John Duffy Miller '01 (North East, PA) announced their engagement in January 2018. Lindsay M. Hamilton '10 (Etters, PA) and Ryan P. McNicholas '10 (Fallston, MD) were married on Saturday, September 30, 2017, at the Hyatt Regency Inner Harbor in Baltimore, MD. The couple resides in Canton, MD.

Gary L. Hyde '86 and his wife, Susan Hyde, both of Dover, PA, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on November 11, 2017. They were married on November 11, 1967, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Bedford, PA. Gary is retired from the Lyon Metal Corporation. Joseph A. Jasinski '08 (New Freedom, PA) is engaged to Samantha Heck of Lancaster, PA. A June 2019 wedding is planned.

Katherine “Katie” M. Lamb '14 (Bethel Park, PA) and Sean J. Johnston '12 (Copiague, NY) were married on October 20, 2017, at The Desmond in Malvern, PA. They both serve as Delaware Valley Regional Ambassador volunteers for the College. Hershey '13 (Oxford, PA) were married on November 17, 2017, at Lauxmont Farms in Wrightsville, PA. The couple resides in Dover, PA.

Allison A. Miller '16 (Glen Rock, PA) and Jake N. Putsch '16 (Plymouth Meeting, PA) were engaged on September 4, 2017, at Michaux State Forest. The couple met at freshman orientation and both studied education. Their wedding is planned for June 2019. Hillary M. Monroe '10 (Mays Landing, NJ) married Craig Martin on October 1, 2016, at the Versailles Ballroom in Toms River, NJ. Kirsten N. Myers '17 (Windsor, PA) and Alexander A. Rost '11 (Red Lion, PA) were married on September 29, 2017, at the Stone Mill Inn in Hallam, PA. The couple resides in York, PA.

Monica L. Rubritz '15 (York, PA) and Bradley J. Alexander '14 are engaged. A September 2018 wedding is planned. April M. Sass '14 (Ronkonkoma, NY) and G. Anderson M. Lake '15 (Hanover, PA) were married on September 2, 2017, in Smithtown, NY. Kerri L. Sawyer '15 (Columbia, PA) is engaged to Travis Conrad, also of Columbia. A June 2018 wedding is planned.

Danielle M. Schafhauser '11 (Stratford, NJ) married Kevin Molesworth of Damascus, MD, on April 21, 2018, at the Flanders Hotel in Ocean City, NJ. The couple resides in Baltimore, MD. Alexandria L. Stanley '14 (Bear, DE) and Nicholas M. Golio '14 (Ossining, NY) were married on August 12, 2017. Michelle L. Stauffer '82 (Marietta, PA) and Mark Rivers were married on June 25, 2017, at Cameron Estates in Mount Joy, PA. Michelle works as a Training Partner for QVC and has been employed there for 23 years. Mark works for the United States Postal Service and served as a Captain in the United States Army. Kelsey A. Stone '13 (Saint Leonard, MD) and Alexander R. Bew '12 (New Cumberland, PA) are engaged to be married. The wedding is planned for September 15, 2018. Angela M. Volpe '06 (Collegeville, PA) and James John were married on October 21, 2017, at the Phoenixville Country Club in Phoenixville, PA.

Deceased Alumni Ashley L. (Miller) Ayres '06 (York, PA), November 5, 2017. She taught fifth grade in the South Eastern School District and was an active member of the Fawn United Methodist Church. She is survived by her husband, John, and their two daughters, as well as her parents, brother, grandparents, and many relatives and friends. Brent R. Bittner MBA '05 (York, PA), April 6, 2018. He had a 28-year career in the insurance industry, was a volunteer with Big Brothers Big Sisters and Junior Achievement in Baltimore, Maryland. He loved coaching his children's sports teams. He is survived by his wife, Liz, and their three children. Robert H. "Doc" Bryant '78 (Midland, TX), August 15, 2017. He also attended Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff for his Master's degree, then moved to Texas in 1979. He worked in various sales and security positions in Midland and was a lifelong train enthusiast. He is survived by two brothers and a sister, and many nieces and nephews. Michael P. Burke '00 (Westminster, MD), January 19, 2018. He was the Director of Ticket Sales and Hospitality for the Baltimore Ravens, working for the organization since he graduated in 2000. She is survived by her two children. Patsy L. (Burns) Cochran '72 (York, PA), October 13, 2017. She was a teacher in the Central York School District for over 26 years. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church and a piano accompanist for the York Elks Chorus. She is survived by a daughter and a son, grandchildren, a sister, and many other family members. He was also an avid saltwater fisherman and a member of the Sports Car Club of America. He is survived by his companion, Fran Camporeale, siblings, and many nieces and nephews. Sheila A. (McGoldrick) Disalvo '91 (Moodus, CT), August 19, 2017. She was a beloved teacher and mother who will be remembered by her children, sister, and her fiancĂŠ, Scott Criscuolo. Lindsay E. Dutcher '01 (Binghamton, NY), January 6, 2018. She is survived by her parents, three brothers, many nieces and nephews, and her longtime boyfriend, Rich Chrzaszcz. Robert A. Estep '80 (York, PA), November 25, 2017. Rob worked for UPS for 27 years, then as a financial advisor for Waddell and Reed in York for the past 14 years. He is survived by his wife, Kathy L. (Cable) ‘78, their two children, a grandson, siblings, numerous nieces and nephews, relatives, and friends. Patrick T. Griffin '05 (York, PA), August 14, 2017. He was a Sales Account Manager for 12 years with Thomas Somerville and Northeastern Plumbing Supply. His passions were playing guitar, fishing, live music, and concerts. He was a Master Roaster for Starbucks Roasting Plant in Manchester, Pennsylvania. He is survived by his parents, siblings, and many family and friends. Howard Joyce '86 (Eastampton, NJ), June 4, 2017. He enjoyed playing hockey and was an inspirational coach. He is survived by his wife, Paulla, a son, two stepsons, and many other family members. She worked as a registered nurse for Sheppard Pratt Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland, for 10 years.


Donna J. (Houhoulis) Lefever '77 (Leesburg, VA), February 12, 2018. She is survived by her husband, Bruce, and their two children. Carl E. Lindberg '65 (Duncansville, PA), June 4, 2017. He also attended Lock Haven State University and retired as an elementary education teacher in the Altoona Area School District after 31 years. He is survived by his wife, Bonni, their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Peter B. Schaefer '14 (East Hampton, NY), August 27, 2017. He was a member of the Gamma Theta Upsilon International Geographical Honor Society and President of the York Environmental Society at the College during his senior year. He sat on the board of directors of the East Hampton Historical Farm Museum. He is survived by his parents, brother, and many relatives. Marcie L. Stell '86 (York, PA), August 4, 2017. She also attended St. Joseph’s School of Nursing, graduating in 1978. She worked as a nurse at Memorial Hospital in York before moving to Philadelphia to work at Fox Chase Cancer Hospital. She retired in 2014 and moved back to York. She is survived by her mother, sister, and many family and friends. Dwayne E. Washko '13 (Sharpsburg, MD), December 13, 2017. He was employed by Funk Electric and was an avid snowboarder and golfer. He is survived by his parents, a sister, and many family and friends.

Deceased Friends Dorothy M. Bloxom (Hanover, PA), October 23, 2017. She received her Nursing degree from Wilmington General Hospital and was one of the first nurses to work in the Intensive Care Unit when it opened at York Hospital, remaining there for 21 years until she retired. Nona G. (Wright) Brown (Loganville, PA), January 6, 2018. Nona was the wife of late Stanley E. Brown of Brown’s Orchards, who passed away on August 12, 2017. They shared 63 years of marriage after meeting while they both attended York Junior College. She earned her teaching degree from Millersville State Teachers College in 1955 and taught elementary school before leaving to work alongside her husband at Brown’s Orchards. She was very active in the York County community, volunteering with 4-H Club, Contact York, and the Susan P. Byrnes Health Education Center. Betty J. (Strine) Decker (Georgetown, DE), November 10, 2017. She attended the York Collegiate Institute and was a talented singer who performed with the United Service Organizations (USO) during World War II. She worked for IBM, York Motor Freight, and then L&H 5&10 for 35 years. She was a gifted needleworker and served a term as president for the Embroiderers’ Guild of America. Woodrow "Skip" S. Dellinger, Jr. (Cornwall, PA), March 20, 2018. He attended Lebanon Valley College, Marshall University, and Johns Hopkins University (JHU). He was on the faculty at JHU for 37 years, retiring in 2002, but working part-time until 2010. He served on the boards of, and volunteered with, many community agencies in Maryland and Pennsylvania, including the Cerebral Palsy Society. Gweneth E. (Wolf) Englebreth (Glen Allen, VA), January 10, 2018. She received a Civil Engineering degree from West Virginia Institute of Technology, attended York College with the Class of 1983, and was a Charter and Life Member of the American Society of Highway Engineers (Harrisburg section), a Senior Engineering Technician of the National Institute for Certification of Engineering Technologies, and a member of the American Society of Certified Engineering Technicians. She visited 49 states and 45 countries in her lifetime. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Donald. Susan C. (Wagman) Beecher Glatfelter (York, PA), December 8, 2017. She graduated from York Catholic High School and attended Barry University in Florida and William & Mary College in Virginia. She was active in the Catholic Women’s Club, York Garden Club, and many other charities. She retired from her position at York College after 20 years.
