Les Conquerants (The Conquerors) Director: Tibor Banoczki & Sarolta Szabo Experimental | Canada/France | 2011 | 10:00 minutes Sundance Film Festival & Festival de Cannes An allegory of the very origins of civilization, with passing references to prehistory and the Bible, the animated film The Conquerors tells the story of human beings and the societies they create. This film was made thanks to Folimage’s Artists-in-Residence program.

Bringing Yoko Ono’s “My Hometown” poem to life with captivating animated illustrations of children around the world by sending thoughts of healing, love and compassion, the film reimagines the poem’s timeless message of hope, home, peace and love for a new generation.

After an intriguing encounter with the showman, he becomes driven to hope against everything he has ever believed.

The body of 14-year-old Emmett Till, from Chicago, is discovered in a Money, MS river. Two men are acquitted for the murder. LOOK magazine interviews the residents of Money to get at the root of what happened. One actor (Mike Wiley) plays all 36 roles.

In the Northern Areas of Pakistan, amid the rugged Karakoram Mountains, lies a relatively isolated region called Baltistan. This film is a journey into the lives of the Balti people and illustrates how events that occur in one place can have a drastic impact on those living a world away. It is through their resilience and tenacity that the people of Baltistan endure and inspire.
