Future Leaders Academy
Welcome to Future Leaders Academy This program represents our strategic imperative of developing internal talent, supporting our objective to grow the organization. You and your peers are already recognized as leaders, and this program is designed to further develop your leadership skills and toolkit. I believe we are stronger when we work together, and collaboration is a cornerstone of our DPM strategy. It is also an important part of this program. You will have the ability to work with talented people from across the company. We hope you find this material inspiring and challenging, and we look forward to the ideas generated by you and your colleagues through DPM’s Future Leaders Academy. All the best,

STAGE 1
FOUNDATIONAL
All modules in each of the three stages align with the three elements of leadership: • Role accountabilities and authorities • Skills and competencies • Values and behaviours The Foundational Stage modules support individual learning along with your assigned cohort. Module 1: Future Leaders Fundamentals This is the official kick-off, and will include presentations by David Rae, Iliya Garkov and Zebra Kasete, as well as other members of the Senior Management Team. The facilitation team will then provide a detailed overview of the program and what participants can expect to experience and learn together. During this module, participants will also be introduced into their assigned cohorts. Module 2: Inspire Trust Franklin Covey Four Essential Roles of Leadership - Part 1: Trust starts with a leader’s own character and competence—the credibility that allows leaders to intentionally build a culture of trust with their teams and with their colleagues.
Module 3: TILT Presence The workshop is an effective way to develop further internal character awareness, which can contribute to business performance and personal happiness. This workshop makes the development of agility actionable, with steps to help leaders and teams build strong internal presence and the agility necessary to thrive. The playful experiences in the workshop help people accept themselves, and increase openness to learning. Module 4: Cross-Functional Effectiveness Organizational effectiveness requires that people work both within their team structure and cross-functionally. This module includes pre-work regarding Lencioni’s Five Functions of Team, followed by a panel of senior leaders discussing how cross-functional work at DPM generates results. Module 5: From Minerals to Market Part 1: Mining for Non-Miners Optional pre-requisite module for participants who are new to mining or work in support functions. It will cover all aspects of the mining cycle at an introductory level. Part 2: DPM’s Value Proposition An operational overview of DPM including the end-to-end process (Exploration - Construction - Operations Market - Mine Closure) and our value proposition to all stakeholders.
STAGE 2
TRANSFORMATIONAL
The Transformational modules focus on leading change and driving transformation. At this stage, each cohort will be assigned a real DPM business challenge. Each cohort will be supported by an executive sponsor in the application of collective knowledge and DPM best practices to address a real business problem. Module 6: Create Vision Franklin Covey Four Essential Roles of Leaders – Part 2: Effective leaders create a shared vision and strategy that is communicated so powerfully that others join them on their journey. Module 7: Leading with EQ (Emotional Intelligence) Mindful leadership means being emotionally aware and being an authentic leader. EQ is critical to creating an environment in which people reach their potential and willingly give their best. Module 8: Stakeholder Engagement and ESG Developing influence and value-proposition interaction skills in internal and external stakeholder engagement, with an emphasis on ESG (Environment, Social, Governance). Recognizing the importance of health and safety leadership as core to our business model. Balancing the ‘value’ definition beyond financial capital to consider natural, human, social & relationship, intellectual and manufactured capital, for the net positive impact.
Module 9: Culture and Inclusion Employees who feel safe and respected bring their best selves to work. Leaders trained in how to build and sustain a culture of belonging, recognizing unconscious biases, diverse & innovative thinking, creating inclusion and recognizing the contribution to the strategic business advantage. An inclusive culture can retain top talent, remove discrimination and generate innovative thinking. Module 10: Coach Potential Franklin Covey Four Essential Roles of Leaders – Part 3: Effective leaders develop the leadership potential in others and improve performance through constant feedback and coaching. Module 11: Systems Thinking to Systems Design Peter Senge considers Systems Thinking a key pillar of a learning organization. However Systems Leadership details Systems Design as a key aspect of establishing clarity in an effective organization. This module will demonstrate how both are integrated into OE&A at DPM. Module 12: Innovating in the Digital World Gain the tools to ignite, manage and sustain innovation in your team, department or business unit. Navigate disruption with this practical online London Business School program.
STAGE 3
STRATEGIC
These modules will develop strategic thinking skills to improve business performance and shareholder return. Each participant will complete an independent assignment to further enhance their individual development plan. Module 13: TILT Influence & Strategies This personality assessment workshop helps participants recognize what drives their interactions with others and develop strategies for working with colleagues more productively. It helps participants understand the fears that lurk in their most primitive ‘lizard-brains’ and how they can influence their interactions with others. The goal is to make small changes in unconscious habits, and develop traits to increase agility and positive influence. Module 14: Execute Strategy Franklin Covey Four Essential Roles of Leaders – Part 4: Leaders must not only think big, but also execute vision and strategy all the way through to completion, with and through others. Module 15: Identify and Develop Potential The Leadership Pipeline demonstrates the Director-level (Manager-once-Removed) accountability of identifying and developing the potential of first level leadership roles. A strong leadership team requires the addition of high potential new leaders into the future pipeline.
Module 16: Transformational Leadership Transformational leadership is a style in which leaders encourage, inspire and motivate employees to innovate and create change to help grow and shape the future success of the company. Module 17: Data Driven Mining This program introduces predictive analytics as a tool for decision making and provides the skills to interpret meaning and communicate results. This leads to data-savvy leaders who are equipped to strengthen business performance, leading to improved productivity and efficiency, safety and lowering costs. Module 18: Long-Term Strategy Building on the learning in Module 5: From Minerals to Market, this module will focus on DPM’s long-term strategy, including Strategic Planning, M&A (Mergers & Acquisitions), Investor Relations, branding and share price performance.
Additional Integrated Learning Opportunities: Throughout the Future Leaders Academy, additional internal learning opportunities will be merged with the program to create an integrated leadership development experience.
Program Objectives MEASUREMENT: The Future Leaders Academy program includes several elements of evaluation, including participant feedback, pre and post module assessments, application metrics, and tracking of key business results (particularly in cohort business projects). Participants will also be encouraged to incorporate personal goals into their Individual Development Plan.

Participants will work with their assigned cohort for the duration of the program. Each cohort will be tasked with providing additional input on the completed module to ensure we are being agile & adapting the program as needed to meet our Program Objectives. Feedback will lead to optimizing content for the remaining cohorts, as well as for other internal audiences.
