With such a rich diet there’s bound to be something here for you; whether you want to sit in awe on the edge of your seat, fall off it laughing, fuel your political passions, be tickled by new ideas, are curious about different cultures or simply introduce your children – there isn’t a cityregion outside of London where you can sample this amount of talent and ideas in one season. You Know Me is the solo dance theatre piece of one female. Funded through G4A by Arts Council England Yorkshire, and cocommissioned by Doncaster Hot House and The Civic, Barnsley.

In 2001, The Demon Barbers – winners of Best Live Act at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards 2009 - brought together some of England’s most exciting young traditional dancers to create their high energy spectacular Roadshow.

A single female is trapped in a room deep within her past. As she explores her hidden memories, she realises she is unable to escape the familiar prison presented as her parents’ living room. In a self-perpetuated cycle, the woman tries to unearth the reason for her inability to move on in her life... The more she tries the deeper she goes...

Now take a further step, and invite three young hip-hop dancers for a night out at their local pub, ‘The Fighting Cocks’. Clog, Rapper and Morris meet B-boying, Popping and Krump in this humorous and unmissable visual feast. Think Riverdance with a false moustache, Stomp with bells on, and both sitting in the front seat of a Bugatti! 5

Angela Woodhouse and Jerwood award winning artist Caroline Broadhead once again bring you an intriguing and beautiful performance installation Between, which sets visual gems against intimate exchanges. The work is made in collaboration with exceptional performers Stine Nilsen (Co-Artistic Director, Candoco Dance Co), David McCormick (Lloyd Newson, Wayne McGregor, Richard Alston & Siobhan Davies Dance Company) and Martina Conti (Firenza Guidi). Through this unique project the artists drive innovation in what it is to experience dance performance. Angela and Caroline’s combined interests explore detail and intimacy and, through the interplay of movement, materials and light, they generate highly charged and atmospheric audience experiences. Significant works such as Court (2003-6) have been followed by recent profiled commissions including Sighted (produced by The Place and commissioned by Royal Opera House Deloitte Ignite 2009) and The Maven commission 2010 for Woking Dance Festival in collaboration with Tate Artist Rooms (Jenny Holzer). Horsemeat is a bold, brash and amusingly honest portrait of the gritty realities surrounding gay love, family life, sexuality and the pains of growing up, plunging us head-first into a nightmarish playground of frantic movements and thriving gestures. Travelling to Cairo brings Aisha unexpected adventures. The show presents a synergy of Arabic roots and folk movement with contemporary dance.
