Friday Firsts was launched in Spring 2011 to showcase the very best new work by independent choreographers and dance companies working on the small scale. Each evening has its own distinct theme, and will often be the first chance to see performances by the most promising dance makers from Yorkshire and beyond.

Where’s the Choreography? Friday 2 December, 7.30pm Tickets £5.00
Some of the short films in this screening focus on people dancing and could be called ‘dance films’. Some of them do not, yet they still have a compelling sense of choreography about them. From Sergio Cruz’s Hannah to Tim Hetherington’s Diary, this collection explores how far you can push the Screendance category and proposes some less than obvious candidates for the genre. There will be a post screening talk about the films in the bar. With thanks to South East Dance.
