Welcome to Yorkshire Dance. Every week, around 700 people come to Yorkshire Dance to take part in one of our classes and courses.

Aerobic Dance

Arabic (Belly Dance)

Level A: Sun, 12.00pm – 1.00pm Aerobic dance combines the health benefits of a serious workout with all the fun of dancing. Firm your body, keep your heart and lungs in great shape, and have a fantastic time. Strengthen, stretch and flex! Shoes: bare feet or trainers Clothing: comfortable

Level A (50+):Tue, 4.30pm – 5.30pm Level A:Tue, 5.30pm – 6.30pm Sensual and dynamic, this class for women of all ages, sizes and levels of fitness teaches you to move your hips the Middle Eastern way. Learn a mix of modern Egyptian style and traditional moves, accompanied by live Egyptian tabla (drum). Arabic Dance strengthens core muscles, corrects poor posture, increases flexibility and increases self confidence.

This classical form of dance is ideal for developing posture, breathing, fitness and grace. The friendly Beginner class is suitable for those with little or no experience, and starts with a series of exercises at the barre, progressing to travelling movements. Turns and balances improve co-ordination, and jumps help build stamina and fitness.

If you love the grace and glitz of Strictly’s Waltz, Quickstep, Cha Cha, Jive and Samba, this is the place to experience them for yourself. With sessions for every level of ability, this is a fun, sociable way to develop and practise your skills.

The Continuation class begins with structured exercises to strengthen muscles and increase flexibility, working to perfect the fundamental elements of classical ballet technique.

Body Confidence

Bollywood

Level A:Thu, 8.00pm – 9.30pm Level A: Sun, 2.00pm – 3.00pm Celebrating bodies of every shape and size, this is a chance to have a wiggle and a giggle in a fun dance class. Taking its inspiration from the showiness of burlesque – but without the naughty bits – it’ll give you the confidence to move with real style. Core Strength for Dancing Level A: Mon, 6.30pm – 7.30pm Essential for anyone serious about their dance, this class will help you to care for all the muscle-groups that stabilize your spine and pelvis, increasing your strength and reducing the risk of injury when you dance. The Dance 50+ Tue, 2.30pm – 4.00pm (Course) A course tailor-made for participants aged 50 and over. A brilliant place to socialise and keep active and fit.You’ll experience working as a whole group, in smaller groups, in pairs and as individuals. Fitness Fever... and the sounds of the 70s Level A: Sun, 3.00pm – 4.00pm Shake off your end-of-the-weekend blues.Yorkshire Dance invites you to bring your friends to the boogie, burn up some calories, and enjoy a real disco inferno. Fitness through dance has never been so hot.

Yorkshire Dance offers a wide variety of one-off workshops.

Workshops at Yorkshire Dance Lots! We host children’s parties, with a fun dance class followed by a proper party tea. We can prepare you for your wedding reception by teaching you and your partner or even the whole wedding party a routine to wow your guests.

What else do we do?

We can even give you and your friends a fantastic Hen party with a class in anything from bellydance to bollywood to burlesque, followed by a glass of bubbly before you hit the town for the evening. You can hire any of our studios or our beautiful meeting room for almost any kind of function.

Whether you’re a professional dancer looking to broaden your specialist skills (aerial technique or circus skills), a group looking for a fun afternoon out (fan dance or burlesque), a dance practitioner looking to share ideas with your peers (improvisation exchange), we’ve got something for you. We even run practical workshops such as first aid. Our workshops are led by experts in their field - choreographers, dance companies and a range of other dance practitioners. Finding Yorkshire Dance Yorkshire Dance is situated in the cultural quarter of Leeds city centre, opposite the BBC building and Leeds College of Music, next to the Wardrobe bar, two minutes’ walk from Leeds city bus station and 15 minutes’ walk from the train station. There is limited on-street parking outside Yorkshire Dance, but there are plenty of public car parks within easy walking distance.
