KLUKE - Lavina Joan Kluke (nee Tupycia) of LaRonge, SK., formerly of Pelly, SK., passed away on Sunday, March 1, 2015 in Saskatoon Royal University Hospital at the age of 63. Lavina was born on August 11, 1951 in Kamsack, SK, the only child of Pete and Ann Tupycia. On September 21, 2002 she married the love of her life, Vance Kluke (also formerly of Pelly). They made their home in Minitonas, MB where she was able to get to know several of Vance’s family members in the area better & grew to love each and every one of them and was welcomed into their family despite her different religious upbringing. In fact, for a couple of years before her death she was attending Jehovah’s Witness bible studies, in addition to already regularly attending their yearly district convention but was not baptized. Lavina loved socializing with people of all ages, races & religions and raised her children to do the same. She loved playing board games (especially Scrabble) & card games, and it never mattered if she won or not. The house was filled with duck themed items she collected. She loved to read & had a large collection of books & was constantly seeking knowledge & an understanding of human nature. She loved taking photographs, also collecting postcards & spoons wherever she went with many albums, racks & envelopes full. She was diagnosed with Lymphoma in 2008 & after chemo & a stem cell transplant of her own cells, went into remission from 2009-2013 (a remission length the doctors didn’t think possible). It returned in late 2013. When chemo became too damaging & other treatments didn’t help, she had the courage to agree to a bone marrow transplant (May 2014 in Ottawa), which later enabled her to go through radiation & beat lymphoma a second time as of October 2014. Her inner strength came from her families’ & Vance’s love & her faith in God. While still recovering from many treatment related side effects (including nerve pain, colitis & blood clots), she had a few falls and cracked her pelvis in several places. Then on December 26, 2014 she had multiple mild strokes (TIA’s). The combination of these 2 events made her bedridden & hospitalized for the last 2-1/2 months of her life. Then pneumonia set in late February and she could fight no longer. Through this & many other tribulations in her life, she always strived to look & behave her best & to please her loved ones right up until she was no longer able to do so. Lavina was predeceased by her father Pete Tupycia (1991), son Terry Hubelit (1999), grandson Daniel Hubelit (1990). Left to mourn are her husband Vance Kluke and family; daughter Laurie Gallup (Morgan); Mother Ann Tupycia; granddaughters, Aleisha, Ashley & Adrienne Vanin; As well as many special cousins all desended from the original pioneer Tupycia as well as her friends.A funeral service was held on March 9, 2015 from the chapel of Andrychuk Funeral Home in Kamsack. Interment followed at the Riverview Cemetery in Kamsack. Arrangements have been entrusted to Andrychuk Funeral Home of Kamsack, Saskatchewan.
KRASOWSKI – John Krasowski, beloved husband of Bev Krasowski of the Willowbrook district passed away on February 28, 2015 at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre at the age of fiftynine years. John was born in Yorkton on April 28, 1955, son of Borden and Eleanor Krasowski. He was the oldest of 11 children and spent the majority of his childhood on the family farm in Willowbrook. He met his wife, Beverly, and they were married on July 9, 1977. They started their life together in Yorkton, where they resided for a short period of time before moving out to an acreage near the family farm. It was here where they raised their three wonderful children: Christopher, Kyle and Jennifer. John discovered how rewarding an honest day’s work was while working with his father on the family farm and carried this work ethic forward with him throughout his years. He worked at Sasktel for 31 years before retiring from the company. He was never the type to stay idle for long though and soon started working for Magna Electric, locating underground cables, then began a management position with Medius Restoration in Yorkton. While he worked full time, he always had time to lend a hand at the family farm and especially loved harvest time. His greatest passion was curling. When he wasn’t curling himself, he could be found watching it on TV or watching/ coaching his wife and sons. He was their greatest fan, although he didn’t always agree with the shots they called, as evident by him shaking his head behind the glass. He was a very active member of the Willowbrook Curling Club and was involved in activities such as planning bonspiels and making and maintaining the ice. His influence on the sport didn’t end in Willowbrook though; he curled in hundreds of bonspiels around the province and his name was well recognized in the curling community. He also enjoyed camping at Good Spirit Lake, fishing, baseball, snowmobiling, ATVing, and anything to do with an engine. Amongst those who were closest to John, he was known as a devoted husband, father, son and friend. He would do anything in his power to ensure the happiness and safety of his loved ones. He was always willing to help out a friend in need and wouldn’t hesitate to offer or lend a hand. However, what the majority of us will remember most about John is that contagious laugh, warm smile and his love for life. May he rest well knowing that he lived a great life and had such a great influence on all of us. It is a shame that he was taken from us too soon; he will be missed very much. John leaves to cherish his memory, Beverly, his loving wife of 37 years; his son, Chris (Hong); his son, Kyle (Karla); his daughter, Jennifer (Tyler) and his grandson, Nate. He also leaves behind his parents, Borden & Eleanor; sisters, Brenda (Rick) Popoff, Arlene (Eugene) Osicki, Joanne (Nick) Smutt, Dianne (Brad) Schwitzer, Gwen (Garnet) Schick, Sandy (Vince) Somogyi, Debbie (Garth) Greiner; brothers, Greg (Karen) Krasowski, Terry (Marlene) Krasowski, Craig (Tracey) Krasowski; sisters-in-law, Evelyn (Frank) Schmeltzer, Linda (Art) Zimmer, Gloria Lipinski; brother-in-Law, Adam (Joanne) Lipinski; numerous nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends. A Prayer Vigil was held on Thursday, March 5, 2015 from St. Gerard’s Roman Catholic Church in Yorkton with Rev. Francis Hengen officiating. Bev’s co-worker, Rick Yaholnitsky served as a Lector. Funeral Mass was celebrated on Friday, March 6, 2015 from St. Gerard’s Roman Catholic Church with Rev. Francis Hengen as the Celebrant. Nephew and godchild, Mark Schmeltzer served as the cross bearer. John’s cousin, Marilyn Beres and brother-in-law, Vincent Somogyi served as the Lectors. Prayers of the Faithful were read by John’s sister, Gwen Schick. Niece and nephew Robin and Kelly Somogyi were the gift bearers. Casket Bearers were John’s brother-in-law, Adam Lipinski with John’s friends and curling teammates: George Mehling, Ron Mehling, Ron Popowich, Terry Hutzul & Kelly Fiege. Interment followed in the Prairieview Columbarium at the Yorkton Memorial Gardens. Condolences can be sent to the family at www.baileysfuneralhome.com Memorials honouring John’s life may be made to the Health Foundation for Palliative Care towards Equipment for Patient Comfort or to the Willowbrook Lions Club as gifts of remembrance.
