Long-time area veterinarian retires By Calvin Daniels Staff Writer The Yorkton area is losing one of its long-time large animal veterinarians. Dr. Kenn Wood of Whitesand Veterinary has ended his practice as of July 1. For Wood, the decision to retire ends a career he said he had planned to pursue since he was a young boy. “I always wanted to be a cow vet,” he said. Wood grew up in Yorkton, spending a lot of time as a youth at uncle Harvey’s farm, where there were cattle. “He, (Harvey), was a real cattleman ... It was the best part of my childhood,” he said. And soon the dream was set. “I decided when I was 12-years old, (to become a veterinarian). I never strayed from that. There never was a plan ‘B’,” said Wood. Wood would pursue his dream finally graduating from the University of Saskatchewan in 1977. He began his career in Prince Albert, but was soon in Yorkton in a part-
DEAR PAW’S CORNER: I want to go camping with my dog “Tinney.” I’ve never been camping before, and I overheard someone at a party saying that dogs weren’t allowed at campgrounds. Is this true? How can I bring Tinney along with me? — James in Providence, Rhode Island DEAR JAMES: While some campgrounds expressly do not allow pets, others are fine with them — as long as you follow their rules. Most campgrounds require dogs to be kept on a leash at all times, and that you always pick up your pet’s poop. Here are a few tips to make your first camping trip with Tinney a fun time:

nership with Dr. Doug McDougall. “Doug and I worked together 11 years,” said Wood, adding when he bought his farm west of Ebenezer the duo finally split, although it was an amicable parting of the ways with Wood’s new practice focusing on large animals. “Doug was never fussy about large animals,” he said. Wood on the other hand was just where he wanted to be, travelling the countryside treating ailing cattle and horses. Typically Wood worked within a 50-mile radius of the practice, although there were calls from as far afield as “Wynyard, or even farther,” he noted. Being an ambulatory veterinarian, travelling to the sick animals, rather than the animal being hauled to a clinic, meant thousands of kilometres travel for Wood. He said in the early years 70,000 kilometres a year was not uncommon. But he never minded the road miles, although he did note automobile accidents do account for
— Check with campgrounds in the area to make sure they allow pets. If a state or federal campground prohibits them, a private campground may be a good option. — Bring everything you need for Tinney: A food and water bowl, sleeping pad, leash, medications, his pet food and a doggy sweater in case it gets cold. — Purchase a tent that will fit both you and Tinney: a 3-person tent should be roomy enough. — Make sure Tinney is safe in your car as you travel to the campsite, either in a travel kennel or in a pet restraint. If you drive a pickup truck, do not tie him on a leash within the truck bed, ever. — Keep Tinney near you at all times. Remember,
the most on the job deaths in the profession. “I loved it. It’s the best job in the world,” he said. Still, the demand to drive, work long hours, and deal with animals weighing hundreds of pounds mean the job is not an easy one. “It’s physically demand-
ing,” He said, adding with some chagrin “I just can’t do the midnight calls anymore.” While always wanting to work with cattle, Wood said he ended up working with a lot of horses too. “I became the horse guy here, but not by design,” he said.
you’re responsible for him, even if you’re camping with a group. — Check Tinney’s fur and paws daily for ticks, fleas, thorns or other debris. — Make sure he gets
plenty of water throughout the day and take the time to rest and play with Tinney so he enjoys the experience! Send your tips, questions or comments to ask@ pawscorner.com.

the same.” Of course Wood is all about critters, and the important relationship with people. “Having critters around ... it makes you a better person,” he said. “Nancy said that to me a million years ago ... associating with critters makes you a better person.” That is a change Wood said he has seen through the decades of his practice. In the early years everyone was still connected to the farm, largely mixed farms, meaning a direct connection to critters. “Everybody in Saskatchewan hung around with critters. I didn’t know anybody who didn’t grow up with critters,” he said. That has changed dramatically in recent years, he said, adding the connection to critters is increasingly missing for more and more people. Wood will continue his relationship with critters in retirement, his two well trained blue heeler dogs, and a small herd of shorthorn cattle. As for the veterinary business, he simply reiterated “I’m ready, (to retire),” adding many of his clients became more than that over the years, “These people are still my friends.”

Wood said even in college vet students tended to either love horses, or want little to do with them. In his case he never gave it a lot of thought. “I rode as a kid. Growing up I liked horses, but I was not crazy about them,” he said. But as a vet Wood said he found he worked with horses well, adding the secret was rather simple, applying the basic animal husbandry skills that work in general across all farm species. It also helped to be aware of the horse’s situation. Horses that are spoiled by humans can be an issue. “The ones that have never had a human alpha figure in their lives ... those are the ones that will hurt you,” he said. It helped that he was a pioneer in dog agility sport in Saskatchewan, and through that dog training, Wood developed skills that were useful as a vet with other species. “I’m convinced working with dogs, training them at that time, made me a better practitioner,” he said. “The basics of critter training are the same no matter what you’re dealing with – the principles are

ing a gallon of water per person per day for at least three days for drinking, cooking and minor sanitation, fill bathtubs or even a lined garbage can with water to be able to manually flush your toilet. If you live on well water, your pump will not work; your water lines may be cut off or compromised. Be prepared. — JoAnn • “High winds from storms can find their way though a crack in your home’s defenses and put an incredible strain on the house. Keep both interior and exterior doors
and your home’s windows closed for the duration of any storm. This includes any smaller access windows and garage windows. It helps to keep the pressure compartmentalized. So, don’t open your door to see how windy it is, because it might let the storm tear off your roof!” — V.R. in North Carolina • “Major storm headed your way? When service goes down, I know I celebrate the moment the lights come back on, but electronics aren’t always so joyful. A simple overhead light or table lamp
will be able to alert you that the power is back on, but it’s unlikely to be fried by surges that sometimes precede a full return of service. Unplug nonessentials to protect them from power surges.” — A.A. in Florida • “If you own a home in an earthquake-prone area, be sure you know how to turn off gas lines. Find the tool you need to do it, and keep it in a special place, preferably right where you’d use it.” — L.W. in Oregon Send your tips to Now Here’s a Tip, 628 Virginia Drive, Orlando, FL 32803.
Q: How much money do I need for closing costs?
A: Closing costs are your fees paid at the closing of a real
estate transaction. You should budget for closing costs based on a percentage of a home’s purchase price. Closing costs include the fee of your home inspection, property taxes, mortgage default insurance (if your down payment is less than 20% of the purchase price), home appraisal, land transfer tax and lawyer. The price of all these fees typically range from 1.5 to 4 percent of your home’s purchase price. For example, on a $250,000 home the closing costs could be anywhere from $3,750 to $10,000.

G
ood Spirit Lake is a popular fishing and recreational lake close to Yorkton. The lake supports a good population of pike, perch and walleye. Although it can be shallow near the shoreline, heading out further into the depths can yield good results. Reports from iFish Saskatchewan indicate that some of the best fishing can be found heading out from the western shoreline.

Pike seem to be easier to catch here than walleye, although the same could be argued for many lakes. Pike are not fussy, and will often attack anything that moves. Walleye, on the other hand, sometimes require more planning to hook. Some of the best days for fishing can be some of the least favourable conditions for anglers.

only increases the oxygen in the water, but also allows them to be more concealed from their predators. Prime walleye fishing is at night, and in early spring. They can still be caught on a summer day, however, and sometimes they will take your bait if they are annoyed. Walleye will generally chase their prey, unlike pike, who will wait in the weeds (or other cover) for their prey to come to them.

Good Spirit Lake Provincial Park is an excellent summer destination. Sandy beaches, concessions, tennis and volleyball are just some of the amenities available. Restaurants, groceries and gas are available nearby. Reservations are accepted for campsites.

DEAR DR. ROACH: As a winemaker, I get my daily (small) dose of resveratrol through red wine. I drink about a half bottle daily. But I also take resveratrol supplements. What is the latest evidence as to the health benefits of this natural polyphenol? Am I ingesting too much? — G.G. ANSWER: Resveratrol is a substance found in red wine, coming from grape skins. One study in rats showed that it improved lifespan, and many people were interested in it. However, the dose of red wine needed to duplicate the study would be about 1,000 liters daily for a human; worse, a trial of resveratrol (in people with multiple myeloma) showed no benefit, and five of the 24 subjects developed kidney failure (it was not clear whether the myeloma or the resve-

ratrol was responsible for the kidney damage. Also, the dose used was 5 grams, which is 10 to 20 times the size of the usual supplement). A trial in Alzheimer’s disease patients was too short to prove benefit but did seem to show increased brain volume. A 2016 review shows that at high doses, it lowers blood pressure (which often is raised by alcohol) and cholesterol. For that reason, resveratrol still holds promise, but it’s too early to recommend as a supplement. It’s not the resveratrol I’m worried about your getting too much of; it’s alcohol. A half a bottle of wine (assuming average alcohol content, which varies a little) for an averagesize man is two and a half glasses, which contains alcohol that is over the level of most recommendations (one glass for women, two for men, with food). For some people, wine enhances pleasure in life when taken moderately, and that’s the only reason it should be consumed. Alcohol should not be taken for health reasons. DEAR DR. ROACH: I

However, it is often not a classic appearance, and it’s wise to consider the diagnosis of HSV for any genital lesion. The quality of the herpes blood test has improved in recent years, and it is a good way to make the diagnosis in someone who doesn’t have a lesion at the time they see the doctor. Two other STDs — gonorrhea and chlamydia — can be diagnosed using a urine test, but not HSV. When you go to the doctor, ask for a blood test to rule out herpes definitively. Urinating a lot is not a usual symptom for STDs, but painful or uncomfortable urination is. Dr. Roach regrets that he is unable to answer individual letters, but will incorporate them in the column whenever possible. Readers may email questions to ToYourGoodHealth@med. cornell.edu.

think I may have herpes, but I’m not sure. What are the symptoms of the virus? When I go to the doctor, what do I say? When I was there last time, I was given a urine test for STDs, which was negative, but now I urinate a lot and have a bump on my penis. — M.G. ANSWER: When we are discussing herpes as a sexually transmitted disease, we usually refer to herpes simplex virus type 2. Even though other herpes viruses can be transmitted sexually, HSV-2 is the most prevalent, with approximately 50 million people in the U.S. infected. HSV-2 usually is asymptomatic, but in both men and women it can be associated with periodic outbreaks of blisters, classically filled with clear fluid and painful. During this time, the virus can be accurately identified by a laboratory.

Grand Opening of Richardson Field at Saltcoats Regional Park On June 26, the Saltcoats Ball Diamond improvement Committee had their Grand Opening of Richardson Field at the Saltcoats Regional Park. The Richardson Foundation donated $30,000 to the project and in recognition of this, the field will be named Richardson Field for the next five-years. Saltcoats has had a recent revival of baseball over the last few years, with over 75 kids playing minor ball this year in various age groups. The grand opening game featured the two Mosquito baseball teams that play on the Saltcoats fields. Tom Courville and Brian Woloshyn represented the Richardson Foundation and presented the Saltcoats Ball Diamond Improvement Committee with a cheque

for the $30,000. Tom Courville said that the Foundation was proud to partner with Saltcoats, as they shared the vision presented to them that communities need to provide opportunities for their youth to be active and engaged. The evening was topped off with the announcement that Saltcoats will host Pee Wee Provincials July 26-28 of this year. In total the Ball Diamond Improvement Committee has raised in excess of $82,000 to rebuild two ball diamonds at the Regional Park. Plans are already underway to rebuild the main diamond, Diamond #1 to be ready for Bantam and Midget baseball. — Submitted by Steve Farquharson

Serve steak alongside a barbecue staple A night of al fresco dining next to a grill in the backyard can be a great way to spend an evening. Nearly any type of food can be grilled, and steaks tend to be especially good when cooked over an open flame. The following recipe for “Grilled Rib-Eye Steaks with Mushroom-Shallot Butter” from Laurie McNamara’s “Simple Scratch” (Avery) is sure to please, especially when coupled with McNamara’s recipe for “Baked Beans,” a must-have staple for any backyard barbecue. GRILLED RIB-EYE STEAKS WITH MUSHROOM-SHALLOT BUTTER Serves 4 to 6 •8 tablespoons (1 stick) plus 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, at room temperature •1⁄2 cup sliced shallot •1 heaping cup sliced cremini mushrooms •2 large cloves garlic, minced
Melt 1 tablespoon of the butter in a medium skillet over medium-low heat. Add the shallot and cook until golden and slightly crispy, 7 to 8 minutes. Use a slotted spoon to transfer the shallot to a clean plate. In the same skillet, melt 2 tablespoons of butter, then add the mushrooms, garlic, thyme, salt, and pepper. Stir and cook until the mushrooms are softened, about 5 minutes. Transfer to the plate with the shallot and let cool. In a small bowl, use a rubber spatula to blend the remaining 8 tablespoons of butter with the

for at least 20 to 30 minutes. Set the steaks on the counter for 30 minutes to bring them up to room temperature. Meanwhile, preheat a grill or grill pan to medium-high or about 400 F. Season both sides of the steaks with 2 pinches of salt and a pinch of pepper. Grill each steak for 6 to 8 minutes per side, depending on the thickness and the desired doneness. Tent with aluminum foil and let rest for 5 minutes. Slice the mushroom butter into coins and top each of the steaks with two coins before serving.
•1 teaspoon coarsely chopped fresh thyme leaves •1⁄4 teaspoon kosher salt, plus more as needed •1⁄4 teaspoon coarsely ground black pepper, plus more as needed •4 to 6 steaks (such as rib-eye, New York strip or porterhouse)
cooled mushroom mixture until combined. Place the butter in the center of a piece of parchment paper. Bring the edges together and press with your fingers to form the butter into a log. Roll and twist the ends before popping the butter into the refrigerator
Preheat the oven to 350 F. Combine the bacon and onion in a medium Dutch oven. Slowly cook over medium heat until the onion is tender and the bacon is cooked, 8 to 10 minutes. Meanwhile, in a medium bowl, whisk together the ketchup, molasses, sugar, ground mustard, ground cloves, and 1 cup water to combine. Add the cooked beans and pour the mixture into the pot with the bacon and onion. Stir, cover and bake for 1 hour, stirring every 20 minutes. Add the salt and stir. Uncover and let sit for 15 to 20 minutes before serving.
BAKED BEANS Serves 10 •2 - 15-ounce cans navy beans, drained and rinsed •4 slices applewood- or pecan wood-smoked bacon, cut into 1-inch pieces •1 cup diced yellow onion •1-1⁄2 cups ketchup
Guilt-free way to tame chocolate cravings Chocoholics often feel that nothing beats a rich piece of chocolate, a sumptuous slice of chocolate cake or a creamy serving of chocolate ice cream. Chocolate contains four times the amount of catechins as tea, and it contains the same heart-healthy flavonoids as red wine. However, the way chocolate is prepared can affect its potential health benefits. For those who want a healthy, low-fat chocolate option that’s easier on the waistline, smoothies may be the way to go. This recipe for “Guilt-Free Banana Chocolate Smoothie”
from Ellen Brown’s “Super Smoothies: 100 Recipes to Supercharge
Snack on something healthy Healthy snacks are a great way to quell hunger pangs without feeling guilty. The following recipe for “Cauliflower Popcorn” from Bob Blumer’s “Surreal Gourmet Bites” (Chronicle Books) is a sweet-tasting alternative to unhealthy snacks.
Preheat oven to 425 F. Cut out and discard cauliflower core and thick stems. Trim remaining cauliflower into florets the size of golf balls. In a large bowl, add cauliflower, olive oil and salt. Toss thoroughly. Spread cauliflower on a baking sheet (line with parchment paper, if available, for easy cleanup). Roast for 1 hour, or until much of the floret has become golden brown.

state and province in the United States and Canada, respectively. However, in many areas of the United States, drivers can begin driving with a learner’s permit around the age of 14 (drivers with learner’s permits often must be accompanied by fully licensed drivers), while the minimum driving age in most Canadian provinces is 16 (it is 14 in Alberta). Throughout much of Africa, including in countries such as Egypt, Kenya and Morocco, the minimum driving age is 18. The Central American countries of Costa Rica, Honduras and Nicaragua also make young people wait until the age of 18 before they can get behind the wheel. Much of South America is the same, with only Argentina (17) and Chile (17 with parental approval) allowing young people to drive before they turn 18. Many countries in Asia, including China (18), India (18 for cars, 16 for gearless bikes under 50 cc) and Japan (18 for cars and motorcycles over 401 cc), also have higher minimum age driving requirements than the United States and Canada. Protect yourself against scams (NC) — Think you can’t be tricked be the latest frauds and hacks? Companies continually work harder to protect your data from attacks, but fraudsters are also working harder to access it, which can leave your personal and financial information at risk. “Even as technology advances to make our lives easier with things like thumbprint, voice and facial recognition, we cannot afford to let our guard down,” advises Doretta Thompson, Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada (CPA Canada) financial literacy leader. “Each of us must continue to be personally diligent because the constant threat of fraud, both online and off.” Here are some scams to watch out for: Home improvement scams. The costs for renovations can add up quickly, but that doesn’t mean it’s a good idea to cut corners and save in ways that compromise your money and safety. Be careful if a contractor asks you for cash in exchange for a discount and ensure that everyone who will work on your home is licensed to do that type of work. Also, be sure you have a contract spelling out exactly what type of work will be done, what finishes will be used and who is liable if something goes wrong. Credit card fraud. According to a new survey conducted for CPA Canada, 70 per cent of us are more concerned about fraud today than we were five years ago. Still, even though we’re worried about it, many of us are still getting scammed — 19 per cent reported they were aware of having been the victim of credit card fraud. For example, when entering credit card information on a website, use a secure internet connection and look for the “s” in the website’s “https”, which stands for “secure”. Identity theft. Your Social Insurance Number (SIN) is your identity. Never give out your number to anyone except to an employer who has already hired you, government programs such as those for student loans, and the CRA for income tax purposes. Romance scams. We can be at our most vulnerable when lonely, looking for love and companionship, and our decision-making abilities can be compromised. If using a dating site or meeting someone online, let them into your life slowly and be very wary if they ask you for money for any reason – even if it’s just for a trip to see you. Tax scams. More prevalent during tax season, the Canada Revenue Agency has been warning Canadians to be very wary of this common fraud that deceives too many people every year. Remember that the CRA will never
ask for personal information via email or the phone, or engage in threatening or aggressive com-
munications. Find more information at http://cpacanada.ca/ financialliteracy

A: Perrette, who played the quirky forensic scientist Abby on “NCIS,” has said that she didn’t want co-star Harmon’s dog on the set after it allegedly attacked a crewmember. She said after that incident, Harmon would bring the dog around only when she was on set and that Harmon “body checked” her.
“Wonder Park” (PG) — June (voiced by Brianna Denski) and her mother (Jennifer Garner) create fanciful, detailed stories involving an amusement park run by animals. Then her mom gets sick, and June’s hustled off to camp by her dad. Rebelliousness takes her off the bus to camp and into the woods, where she’s sidetracked en route home by the living, albeit dilapidated, Wonder Park. With the help of a pair of beavers (Ken Jeong and Kenan Thompson), a porcupine (John Oliver), a boar (Mila Kunis) and a narcoleptic bear (Ken Hudson Campbell), June will need to rescue a chimp who is magically able to architect June’s imagination into
ARIES (March 21 to April 19) Don’t be surprised if, in spite of your well-made plans, something goes awry. But don’t worry. Your knowledge of the facts plus your Arian charm will help you work it out. TAURUS (April 20 to May 20) A personal relationship seems to be demanding more than you feel you’re able to give. Best advice: Confront the issue. You could find the situation surprisingly easy to work through. GEMINI (May 21 to June 20) Resist being pressured into meeting your selfimposed deadline. This is important if you really feel that taking more time to finish a project could save time in the long run. CANCER (June 21 to July 22) A vacation choice seems less interesting than when you first made it. Could it be a matter of the place or the people going with you? Find out before you consider a change of plans. LEO (July 23 to August 22) Someone might be overriding your Leonine logic to get you to agree to “favors” that you would
As for her future in Hollywood, her outspokenness doesn’t seem to have harmed her career. CBS, the same network that employed her on “NCIS” for 15 years, has hired her for a new comedy this fall titled “Broke.” So, whether or not her accusations against Harmon are true, she obviously still has a good relationship with CBS. Q: Are Miranda Lambert and her police officer husband still married? I read that they were having problems. — C.Y. A: There was gossip circulating last month that their marriage was in trouble, which wasn’t entirely unexpected since they married so quickly. For those who don’t know, last November, Lambert was singing
Pauley Perrette in “NCIS” onstage during “Good Morning America” on ABC when she spotted NYPD officer Brendan McLoughlin providing security near the stage. They married three months later. Time will tell whether it will last, but
for now Lambert has said nothing but positive things about it to the press, saying that they split their time between Nashville and NYC, where he still works on the force. Lambert says that she is finishing up her new solo
reality. I thought the sad, sick mom angle was unnecessary and really at odds with the fun of an amusement park setting, but my kids blissfully glossed over that part and thought the movie was OK. “The Beach Bum” (R) — Epic debauchery and hedonist hullaballoo are afoot in the tale of Moondoggie (Matthew McConaughey), a writer and South Florida character whose antics are financed by a wealthy wife (Isla Fisher). If you imagine McConaughey at his wide-eyed stoner weirdo best, and then imagine he challenged a few actor friends (Snoop Dogg, Zac Efron, Jonah Hill) to attempt to out-bizarre him, and the whole shenanigans were filmed by a director (Harmony Korine) with a taste for the absurdly disturbing, this would be the result. It’s gonna get crazy. “Slaughterhouse Rulez” (NR) — It’s hard to beat “Shaun of the
normally avoid. Take a new look at what you’ve been asked to do and see if you’ve been misled. VIRGO (August 23 to September 22) Try to keep that emerging “judgmental” aspect in check this week. Too many critiques on relatively unimportant issues could create a lot of negative bounce-back reactions. LIBRA (September 23 to October 22) Facing unpleasant facts about an associate isn’t easy. But ignoring them isn’t wise. Ask a trusted (and neutral) friend to help guide you on what to do and how you might do it. SCORPIO (October 23 to November 21) A shift in opinion regarding a workplace situation could go a long way in vindicating the stand you’ve taken. But be aware that a satisfactory resolution could still be a long way off. SAGITTARIUS (November 22 to December 21) It’s not like you to choose the easy way rather than the right way to do things. So, follow your instincts and feel assured they will lead you to the right decision. Good luck.
Scene from “Wonder Park”. Dead” for a horror comedy, but director Crispian Mills (“Fantastic Fear of Everything”) reteams with Simon Pegg to give it his prep-school best with this tale of a boarding school employing questionable fracking practices that rile up a den of demonlike creatures which then terrorize the student body and teachers alike. Starring a clutch of English A-listers — Michael Sheen as school headmaster, the aforementioned Pegg as a teacher and even Nick Frost as a land-squatting activist — our heroes are Asa Butterfield as a bullied misfit, the hardy new C A P R I C O R N (December 22 to January 19) Hold off on making a personal commitment until you find out what it really entails and whose interests are actually involved. There could be hidden facts you need to know. AQUARIUS (January 20 to February 18) A new friend offers an unexpected opportunity that could lead to a career change. Check it out carefully and consider getting an assessment from someone familiar with this field. PISCES (February 19 to March 20) A surprising discovery leads to mixed reactions from those involved in the “revelation.” But as you come to appreciate the truth, you’ll be able to come to terms with your feelings. album, and she’s set to start touring in the Roadside Bars & Pink Guitars Tour, which starts in Connecticut in September and ends in November in North Carolina. Joining her will be stars Maren Morris and Elle King, along with Miranda’s band, the Pistol Annies. For tour dates, visit www.mirandalambert.com. Q: Is “Mad About You” really coming back to television like “Roseanne” did? If so, when will it begin airing? — J.J. A: Yes, it appears that “Mad About You” is becoming a reality 20 years later. Paul Reiser and Helen Hunt will be reprising their roles of married couple Paul and Jamie as they deal with getting older and parenting their rebellious daugh-
ter Mabel. It was picked up by the Charter Spectrum cable/internet/streaming company, which will air the new episodes once they finish production. An official first air date for “Mad About You” hasn’t been announced yet. This is one of several shows coming on Spectrum Originals, the first being “L.A.’s Finest,” starring Gabrielle Union and Jessica Alba. Another series by Spectrum that looks compelling is “Manhunt: Unabomber.” The first season was a drama based on the infamous Ted Kaczynski case, and the second season will be about the Atlanta Summer Olympics bombing. “Hale County, This Morning, This Evening” (NR) — RaMell Ross directs, produces and collects moments large, small, dramatic and pedestrian in rural Hale County, Alabama, over the course of about five years. It was nominated for an Academy Award and the Independent Spirit Award, plus a winner at Sundance, and it’s not hard to see why. You’re lured into the vignettes, piqued by title cards with questions and commentary, and while the documentary itself is not a
linear story, we do get a slightly concentrated look at three lives — Daniel, who played high school basketball and goes off to college; Quinn, fellow ballplayer and young father; and Boosie, the mother of Quinn’s children.
