Order of Omega Omicron Nu Youngstown State University
Order of Omega is a national leadership honor society that was founded in 1959 at the University of Miami. Order of Omega has over 500 chapters in North America that recognize students for their scholarship, leadership, character, and service to the Greek, campus and local community. We strive to recognize those fraternity men and women who have attained a high standard of scholarship and leadership in interfraternal activities, to encourage them to continue along this line, and to inspire others to strive for similar conspicuous attainment. Membership is only available to the top 5% of Greeks at this institution. Eligibility: • Be enrolled full-time and have a minimum 3.0 GPA • Junior or Senior status • Be a fully initiated member of their chapter for at least one (1) semester. If accepted the cost for membership is $75 or $87 if you desire cords. Initiation will take place during the awards portion of our 68th Annual Greek Sing competition, scheduled for Saturday, April 10, 2021. Applications are due by Friday, Feburary 26. PRESENTERS
Carrie Anderson
Carrie is the Associate Director of Student Activities and is a 2004 and 2007 graduate of Youngstown State University. She holds both a bachelors and a master’s degree in Education with an emphasis in Student Affairs Leadership and Practice. With over 15 years of experience serving students at YSU between the Department of Campus Recreation and Office of Student Activities, Carrie has overseen many aspects of programming including Student Organizations, Greek Life, and Leadership Programming. For her service, Carrie has received numerous awards throughout her career including the 2008-2009 Mentor of the Year Award, the 2014 Distinguished Service Professional/Administrative Service Award, and the 2016-2017 GillespiePainter Award for Outstanding Achievement in Support of Student Affairs. Carrie will be presenting tonight on her experience working in higher education.
Avery Calloway Avery is a senior majoring in Psychology and Education. Currently, she is the president of the Zeta Gamma Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and serves as the Ohio State Facilitator of the Midwest Region. Additionally, she serves as a member of the DEI Committee (Diversity Equity and Inclusion) on campus. During her presentation, she will be sharing information about her sorority and their experience reactivating the chapter.
Hannah Thomas Hannah Thomas is a senior Business Administration major, minoring in Employee Relations with certificates in Leadership and Nonprofit Leadership. After transferring schools, she came to YSU and joined Greek Life in Fall 2018. As a sister of Zeta Tau Alpha, Hannah has held many leadership roles within her chapter as well as within Greek Life, most notably serving as Panhellenic President during the first ever virtual recruitment in 2020. In January 2021, she was 1 of 4 undergraduate Panhellenic women chosen to present at College Panhellenic Academy. Hannah was also selected as a student lobbyist for the 2021 Fraternal Government Relations Coalition (FGRC) virtual Capitol Hill visit this April. Upon graduation, she plans to continue her education towards a Master of Business Administration degree. 3

Gregory M. Gulas Greek Leadership Scholarship
The Gregory M. Gulas Greek Leadership Scholarship is given out in honor of the past Greek Advisor, Mr. Greg Gulas who served from 1998-2012. During that time period he advised Panhellenic Council, Interfraternity Council and Greek Campus Life in several capacities. Throughout his years of service he inspired countless students to pursue leadership positions both inside and outside their Greek organizations. The dedicated leadership and valuable advice he gave has undoubtedly left its mark on the students with whom he served. In honor of his service, this scholarship will reward students who embody the scholastic and leadership values which Greg strived to instill in every student who had the privilege of working with him. Eligibility: • Be enrolled full-time and have a minimum 2.8 GPA • Be active, YSU undergraduates, Interfraternity Council (IFC) and Panhellenic Council (PHC) members with at least two (2) semesters left until graduation. • Be in good standing, financially and otherwise, with their headquarters, their chapter, IFC or PHC, and Youngstown State University. • Be a fully initiated member of their chapter for at least one (1) semester. • Show service to their chapter. Service can include, but is not limited to: officer positions, committee chair positions, delegate positions, committee involvement, and/or involvement in chapter sponsored events. • Show service to either IFC or PHC. Service can include, but is not limited to: officer positions, committee chair positions, delegate positions, committee involvement, and/or involvement in IFC/PHC sponsored events. • Show service to the community and university. • Submit a brief personal development letter. The letter should be no more than one (1) page in length. The letter must demonstrate how the applicant’s leadership has contributed to personal and professional growth. • Submit two (2) letters of recommendation along with the award application. Recommendation letters must come from either an alumni member of their chapter and/or a faculty member who has worked with the applicant and can comment on his or her leadership and involvement. The Scholarship worth $500 will be awarded at Greek Sing. Applications are due Friday, March 5.
