STUDENT LEADERSHIP ORGANIZATIONS


Invest in Yourself By Getting Involved! Be a part of the WCBA community by being an active member of a student organization. You will build professional networks, work with the local and regional business community, develop leadership skills, and learn more about your future career while making friendships to last a lifetime. Most WCBA student organizations are student chapters of national industry organizations and many provide the opportunity to travel to conferences, competitions, business visits, and build a network of professional contacts. With 13 professional student organizations to choose from, your passion will find a home here.

Advertising Club The YSU Advertising Club is a collegiate chapter of the American Advertising Federation (AAF). Ads Club exists to provide students with an opportunity to apply knowledge and skills they learn in the classroom to real world, integrated marketing communications projects, such as the AAF’s National Student Advertising Competition. The organization is open to all majors and class rank.

Beta Alpha Psi (BAP) Beta Alpha Psi is an honorary organization for Accounting, Finance, and Information Systems students with chapters found only in AACSB-accredited schools. The organization strives to expose students to all aspects of their professions. Membership is open to all Accounting, Finance, and Information Systems majors who have completed one upper level course, have a 3.0 GPA in their major, and have a 3.0 overall GPA. Meetings are open to all YSU students begin networking with your future employers!

Beta Gamma Sigma (BGS) Membership in Beta Gamma Sigma is the highest recognition a business student anywhere in the world can receive. Only schools accredited by AACSB International, the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, are eligible to have a chapter. Each year, students in the top 10 percent of the sophomore, junior, or senior classes or the top 20 percent of MBA students are invited to join this organization.

Beta Gamma Sigma members are recognized for their academic achievements at an induction ceremony where the students receive BGS stoles to wear at commencement.


Economics Club The YSU Economics Club welcomes students of any major who are interested in exploring economic issues all around us. During our club events, we explore economic topics in more detail through roundtable discussions with faculty, we learn about the large variety of careers in economics through guest speaker events, and we engage in the community with service-oriented activities. We partner with Omicron Delta Epsilon, the International Honor Society in Economics, to honor outstanding students at our annual banquet.

ENACTUS ENACTUS is a global student organization focused on entrepreneurship and action. The WCBA chapter of ENACTUS is an enthusiastic community of student, academic and business leaders committed to using the power of entrepreneurial action to transform lives and shape a better, more sustainable world. This chapter meets on a bi-weekly basis and is open to all YSU students, regardless of major or class rank.

Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) The Institute of Management Accountants is the world’s largest association of management accountants and financial managers. The WCBA chapter hosts guest speakers and engages in volunteer activities as well as attends various regional and national conferences. All students are welcome to participate.

International Business Organization (IBO) The International Business Organization (IBO) at YSU is open to all students. Students gain an understanding of the many aspects of international business and participate in opportunities and resources to network with the global business landscape.

Pi Sigma Epsilon (PSE) Pi Sigma Epsilon is the only national professional fraternity for sales, marketing, and sales management. Through active participation, students can gain hands-on experiences in real-world sales, marketing, and sales management. PSE is open to all Youngstown State University students.

Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) The WCBA student chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) supports students in the SHRM-certified human resource curriculum by providing leadership and professional development opportunities. It is open to all undergraduate and graduate students with an interest in HR, regardless of major.

Student Information & Supply Chain Association (SISCA) The Student Information & Supply Chain Association provides experiences for student members to better understand the changing nature of information systems and supply chain management in the digital era. This organization is open to all business majors.

Members visit businesses in various industries to learn more about how information technology and the supply chain impact businesses.

Student Investment Fund (SIF) Members of the Student Investment Fund manage a stock portfolio with a value currently over $2 million. They also learn from regional investing professionals during their weekly meetings in the Financial Services Lab. SIF is open to all YSU students interested in learning about investing.

WCBA Student Leadership Council Members of the Student Leadership Council serve as ambassadors of the WCBA as they regularly provide input and suggestions regarding students’ needs to the faculty and staff. All WCBA students are invited to apply for the Student Leadership Council. Students are selected based on participation in co-curricular activities and the desire to contribute to the WCBA.

Student Nonprofit Leadership Organization The Student Nonprofit Leadership Organization (SNLO) provides professional nonprofit management experiences, which can count as college credit for participation as meetings are held in conjunction with the Nonprofit Community Service course (BUS 3740). Those students seeking the Nonprofit Leadership Minor and/or Certificate in Nonprofit Leadership are required to be active participants in the organization.
