Out ‘n’ About in Casey & Cardinia
Intergenerational Playgroup - Lynbrook This month, Your Child in Casey and Cardinia joined in the fun at an intergenerational playgroup, at Mercy Aged Care in Lynbrook. Every week, Pheba from Hey De Ho Cranbourne, leads the residents, along with local children and families, through music, play and fun. Pheba brought an incredible collection of percussion instruments and finger puppets, and has a huge repertoire of children songs and nursery rhymes, but most beautifully, it was the gorgeous children who encouraged the residents to join in and the residents were smiling and joining right in!
Hey De Ho include activities where they incorporate the residents favourite music from times past. When “Que Sera Sera” started playing, resident Phyllis got straight up and started to sing and dance. There was a request for “twist & shout” and so everyone, young and old got up and had a dance. This was 2 weeks ago and I and I am still riding the wave of happiness it bought me, such a beautiful morning. 18

What’s Cooking
Super Easy Recipe
Leftover Cereal Bars Ingredients . 4 Cups Cereal · 1/2 Cup Brown Sugar · 125g Melted Butter · 3 tbsp Honey · 1/2 Cup Coconut · 1 tbsp Golden Syrup · Choc Chips melted - optional
Method 1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees (160 fan forced) and line a 20cm square tin with baking paper. Set aside. 2. Combine all dry ingredients in a large bowl 3. Combine the wet ingredients in a separate bowl and pour into the dry ingredients and mix well 4. Press the mixture into the pan 5. Bake for 20 minutes or until golden brown 6. Remove from the pan when cool drizzle with melted chocolate (if using) and cut into bars or squares
