Out ‘n’ About in Casey & Cardinia
Casey Safety Village
Casey Safety Village is an inexpensive, outdoor activity for your next school holidays. Preschool and primary school aged children can bring their own bike or scooter. If they don't have their own or its difficult to transport them,there is a range of bike sizes and helmets available for hire at extra cost. Parents, carers and non-riders are free. Its a good idea to bring a seat or picnic rug to sit on in the shaded grass areas. The kids can ride around Casey Safety Village practising their road safety skills and having fun. There are traffic lights,a petrol pump to fill up your vehicle and a school crossing where kids can have turns at being the lollipop person and pedestrians. Fully fenced and flat,this is a fantastic spot for new riders to get some practise in. During your visit you can attend road safety or fire safety in the home talks or sometimes a water safety talk given by YMCA. Colouring in and craft activities may be out too. Casey Safety Village has special visits from Bicycle Superstore to show you how to maintain your bike. Vic Police or Metro Trains attend the Family Fun Days occasionally too. Bring your seats, food and drink and some change incase a sausage sizzle is cooking or the coffee van is there. Family Fun Days run in the school holidays. Check their facebook page or join their mailing list to be advised on dates and when bookings open. Casey Safety Village is open for school, kindergarten or community group bookings during the term. Toblerone Self-Saucing Pudding Ingredients -
60g unsalted butter 1/2 milk 1/2 cup caster sugar 1 cup self-raising flour 2 tablespoons cocoa powder 150g Toblerone milk chocolate, coarsley chopped - 1 1/4 cups boiling water - 3/4 cup, firmly packed brown sugar

2 tablespoons cocoa powder, extra, sifted Double cream to serve Caramel spread, warmed, to serve 50g packet mini Toblerine milk chocolate
Method 1) Preheat oven to 180C/160C fan forced. Brush a 1.5L (6-cup) ovenproof dish with melted butter to grease and place on a baking tray lined with baking paper. 2) Place the butter and milk in a large microwave-safe bowl. Microwave on High, stirring every minute until melted and combined. Stir in the caster sugar. Add the flour and cocoa, and stir until well combined. Stir in the chopped Toblerone. Spoon into greased dish. Use the back of a spoon to smooth the surface. 3) Combine water, brown sugar and 1 tablespoon of the extra cocoa in a large jug and stir until well combined. Gradually pour over pudding mixture. Bake for 35-40 minutes until a cake-like top forms and a skewer inserted into the centre comes out clean. Set aside for 10 minutes to cool slightly. Dust with remaining extra cocoa. Spoon cream on top. Drizzle with the caramel. Sprinkle with Toblerone triangle.
