CAR SEAT INSPECTION
Schedule your child’s car seat inspection today!
It’s fun to decorate for the winter holidays, but holiday decorations can increase your risk for a home fire. As you deck the halls this season, be fire smart.
Half of the home decoration fires in December are started by candles.
More than 1/3 of home decoration fires are started by candles.
Christmas is the peak day for candle fires.
A dry Christmas tree can burn very hot and very fast. Keep candles at least
12 inches away from anything that burns.
Read manufacturer’s instructions for the number of light strands to connect.
Make sure your tree is at least 3 feet away from heat sources like fireplaces, radiators, space heaters, candles or heat vents. Also, make sure your tree does not block exits.
More than 1 in
every 5 Christmas tree fires were caused by a heat source too close to the tree.
Get rid of your tree after Christmas or when it is dry.

Cosumnes Fire
STATE ACCREDITED FIRE ACADEMY
Cosumnes Fire Administration 10573 E. Stockton Blvd. Elk Grove, CA 95624
On August 20, 2021, 24 new Firefighters graduated from the Cosumnes CSD Fire Department State-Accredited Fire Academy and joined the ranks of the Cosumnes Fire Department. The graduation ceremony was six months in the making for the recruits who endured an intensive 24-week training program at the state-ofthe-art Cosumnes CSD Fire Training Facility located in Elk Grove. The recruits were challenged physically, mentally and academically, through rigorous training in firefighting techniques, rescue operations, hazardous materials, emergency medical training, and much more. Upon successful completion of the Academy, recruits met the current State firefighter training standard and became Probationary Firefighters. Each new member was assigned to a 48/96 shift schedule and their evaluated training will continue for one year under the direct supervision of a Fire Station Captain.
When an individual commits to the fire service profession, they also commit to continuing their education and training, daily. In coordination with each other, our Training Division team and the Academy’s instructor cadre provide a well-rounded, highly technical, and innovative educational experience. Firefighters must be prepared to respond and provide service at a moment’s notice. Technology advancements have changed the way structures are built, vehicles are designed, electricity is collected and distributed, and medical care is delivered. This constant change requires Firefighters to remain vigilant students and to continually improve upon their craft. For more information on the Cosumnes CSD Fire Department Training Division or a career in the fire service, please visit: yourcsd.com/1007/Careers-Training.

The Cosumnes Recreation Opportunity Fund provides financial assistance for low-income residents to participate in recreation activities offered by the Parks and Recreation Department. If you are a family in need of assistance, Cosumnes CSD accepts the first 50 approved applications for each calendar year. Funding is limited to $150 per qualified family and can be used for many programs and activities in the Activity Guide.
Strengthen our community by the simple act of donating a dollar when registering for an activity. Your donation is tax deductible and will provide a chance for children and adults in need to participate in lifelong learning experiences that promote healthy lifestyles.
Pre-Register
Nothing cancels a class faster than low enrollment. Each class strives for a minimum level that will cover costs. If you see a class you’re interested in, register early and invite a friend.
Supply Fees
Supply fees cover the cost of materials that are used in classes to present or produce items. Some classes have mandatory supply fees that are required for every class and are included in the registration fee (example: art materials). Mandatory supply fees are always collected with registration and are not paid to the instructor. Some classes have optional supply fees that are not required for every class, or are not required at all (example: martial arts uniform). Optional supply fees will be paid directly to the instructor and are not included in the registration fee.
Waitlist Procedure
Anyone can waitlist classes. Waitlists are not rolled over. It is the responsibility of the parent to place their child(ren) on the appropriate list(s). If a client withdraws from a class, the first person on the list is called and has 24 hours to accept or decline.
Receipts
In an effort to keep costs down, we do not send receipts by mail. Receipts are available by request.
Refunds
Refunds and transfers are granted to cancellations received 72 hours prior to the first class unless otherwise noted in the class description. Failure to attend does not constitute grounds for a refund. If you are not satisfied with a program, contact the supervisor. The Parks and Recreation Department will declare a refund on a customer account as an unclaimed credit when the refund has not been used or claimed within one year of issue date. Unclaimed credits will be transferred to the Cosumnes Recreation Opportunity Fund.
Fire Department Fee
Participants or those renting CSD facilities that require assistance of the Cosumnes Fire Department for an injury or illness while participating in our programs may be charged fees as part of that response and/or transport. These fees are separate from those paid to use the facility or participate in the program.
Right to Photograph
Cosumnes CSD reserves the right to photograph facilities, activities, and program participants for potential future use in advertising brochures, on the website, or other promotional purposes.
EXAMPLE OF HOLD HARMLESS AGREEMENT
Hold Harmless Form
Some classes require a parent/guardian to accompany participant to the first class and sign a Hold Harmless form prior to participation. Please check to see if your class has that requirement.
The participant, or participant’s guardian if participant is under 18, shall indemnify, hold harmless and defend the District and its elected officials, employees, agents, volunteers, and any co-sponsor of this activity (collectively, “District”), against all liability (including without limitation court costs and attorneys’ fees), claims, losses, demands or actions for injury to or death of any person(s), or damage to property relating to or arising from his or her participation in the activity designated in this notice. The District has no medical insurance for participants, and any injury to, or caused by, the participant will be the participant’s sole and exclusive responsibility. The participant, or participant’s guardian if actual participant is under 18, acknowledges that the District reserves the right to photograph participant during the activity designated in this notice for future publicity or promotion use only. The undersigned additionally acknowledges that s/he has read California Civil Code § 1542, which provides: A GENERAL RELEASE DOES NOT EXTEND TO CLAIMS WHICH THE CREDITOR DOES NOT KNOW OR SUSPECT TO EXIST IN HIS OR HER FAVOR AT THE TIME OF EXECUTING THE RELEASE, WHICH IF KNOWN BY HIM OR HER MUST HAVE MATERIALLY AFFECTED HIS OR HER SETTLEMENT WITH THE DEBTOR. The undersigned hereby waive all rights and protections otherwise available to them under Civil Code § 1542. The undersigned, by signing below, acknowledges that s/he has read and understands this notice and, if signing on behalf of a participant under the age of 18, attests that s/he is that participant’s legal guardian.

Find Sammy ! Sammy, Cosumnes CSD’s lovable blue duck mascot, is hidden all throughout this activity guide.
As 2022 approaches, we celebrate the resilience and strength our community has demonstrated since March of 2020. As your Cosumnes Community Services District, we made every effort to help the community overcome challenges brought on by the pandemic, including offering childcare services, delivering meals to quarantining seniors, responding to thousands of emergency calls and mutual aid deployments, conducting mass vaccination clinics, and working tirelessly to ensure everyone had a safe place to play. During this time, we were able to move forward with a few exciting infrastructure projects. We reached 100 parks in our system and opened the doors of the Gil Albiani Recreation Center, the District’s third recreation center and the first-of-its-kind in east Elk Grove. Now, we are in the construction phase of new Fire Station 77 and the design phase of a new 50,000-square-foot recreation center at Morse Community Park which will emphasize health and wellness amenities. As we get back to programming many community activities and events this season, our top priority continues to be the health and safety of our participants, staff, and community. Please keep in mind that the offerings in this guide are subject to change based on local mandates. Our team will continue to add activities throughout the season, so visit us online for the latest recreation opportunities.
