Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update Cosumnes CSD · 11/18/20
Sacramento County has moved back to the State’s most restrictive Purple Tier 1 (widespread) effective November 13. The latest Public Health Order continues to reinforce the direction that all individuals carry on with social distancing protocols and use face coverings. Outdoor community playgrounds are still permitted for use with social distancing to help support a safe environment for children and families. When using your community parks, playgrounds and trails, please heed the following guidelines: • MAINTAIN DISTANCE. Always maintain physical distance of 6 feet from those outside of your household unit. If the area is too crowded, try another spot or go home and try again at another time. • WASH HANDS. Wash or sanitize your hands before and after using the playground or park equipment. • WEAR A MASK. While using the playgrounds, everyone 2 years and older should wear a mask covering their nose and mouth at all times. • KNOW WHEN TO STAY HOME. Stay home if you are sick. People at increased risk for severe illness should avoid playgrounds when others are present. Thanks for doing your part to keep Elk Grove healthy. This is fascina-“tee”ing! Prior to the invention of the wooden tee at the turn of the 19th century, golfers made tees out of sand. Courses would supply each hole with a box of wet sand from which the golfer would fashion a raised mound using either his hands or a cone-shaped mold.

PARKMUSIC PLANNING g 35 Yea rs Celebratin 1985 – 2020
Cosumnes CSD • Fall Activity Guide 2020 Coming soon! Oasis Commun ity Park
Cosumnes CSD Planning, Design, and Construction There have been some major changes within the Parks Planning section recently. The Planning, Design and Construction (PDC) section is now part of the Administrative Services Department. The PDC will still be responsible for delivering the new parks and park renovations that Elk Grove residents are accustomed to, but we will now also be responsible for new development and renovation of building facilities such as Fire Stations and Community Centers.
Our Board of Directors approved the District’s 2020-2025 Capital Improvement Plan in June which provides a blueprint for the planning and construction of all new park and building facilities as well as park and facility renovations. Some of the projects the team is working on include the 20 acre Oasis Community Park and 5 acre Singh and Kaur Park. Both parks which are located within the Laguna Ridge area of Elk Grove are in construction and are scheduled to be completed by the end of fall 2020. Although they may be completed, they won’t be open to the public until 2021.
ALBIANI CENTER
Over at Beeman Park the former Senior Center building is undergoing extensive renovations and upgrades. The building, now known as the Gil Albiani Recreation Center is being repurposed as a community center to serve the eastern Elk Grove community. The center is expected to open in the spring of 2021.
PDC staff are working on completing plans for the MacDonald Park Phase II project which is located in the Sheldon Pointe neighborhood in eastern Elk Grove. The project is scheduled begin construction in early 2021. Staff is working with architectural consultants to complete the construction plans for the new Fire Station #77 which is located on Poppy Ridge Road. The station will serve the new development areas of Laguna Ridge with Fire and Emergency Services. The project is expected to go into construction early 2021.

YOUR PARKS, TRAILS, AND STREETSCAPES
Residents of Elk Grove enjoy award-winning recreation facilities, including 98 parks, 1,017 acres of park and open space and 18 miles of trails. These facilities are constructed and maintained by Cosumnes CSD. Maintenance of parks, streetscapes and trails is funded through Landscape & Lighting assessments collected in 13 benefit zones throughout the District.
Watch our new park maintenance funding video at: yourcsd.com/parkfunding
Landscape & Lighting Districts Advisory Committee Are you passionate about parks and recreation? Do you want to make a difference in your community? Consider applying to join the Landscape & Lighting Districts Advisory Committee (LLDAC).
