Get to the Colour Me Happy Fun Run

Get ready for the biggest, brightest, happiest and most colourful 5K York has ever seen. The Colour Me Happy Fun Run is all in aid of St Leonard’s Hospice, and all you need to join in is a bright white t-shirt. Then you can run, walk, skip or dance your way around the route at Rawcliffe Country Park on 21st September as you get showered in a different cloud of colour at every colour station, so that you will cross the finish line as a walking work of art - all in the name of charity. A century ago... ...the world changed forever

The terror of total war and its revolutionary impact on life around the world will be explored in a major new ongoing exhibition at York Castle Museum, marking the centenary of the First World War. From the pre-war golden age of peace and prosperity, visitors will be sent to the recruitment office and travel via train to the horrors of the frontline – from rats to foot rot, shell shock to gas warfare. Back home, daily life in Britain was changing beyond recognition while around the world millions would die as Europe’s empires clashed in the first truly global conflict. n Visit www.yorkcastlemuseum.org.uk
