(26th May-30th June) The York Mystery Plays dramatise the greatest story ever told – from the creation of heaven and earth to the last judgement. It’s a story of good versus evil, of life and death and of love, betrayal, loss and hope. Game of Thrones and Coronation Street star Philip McGinley will play the lead role of Jesus, supported by a vast community cast and an army of backstage volunteers to create a unique spectacle, which will celebrate the city’s cultural heritage. The Minster’s production will be directed by Phillip Breen (Royal Shakespeare Company) and the script has been written by Mike Poulton.
