Golden Slumbers

The month of March marks National Bed Month here in Yorkshire, and across the UK. This doesn’t quite mean bringing your duvet to work, however (sorry!)

Founded by the National Sleep Council and the National Bed Federation, the campaign was set up to promote the benefits of sleep and advise people how to get the best out of their slumber too.

The National Sleep Council and The Sleep Charity advise that it's important to look at the reasons why sleep is so important for our health and also what part our beds play in getting a good sleep. For example, if your mattress is more than seven years, it’ll probably need replacing (you can find the perfect mattress according to your sleeping type on page 28!) Because we spend a lot of time in our beds, it’s also vital that our beds are kept clean. Be sure to give your bed frame a good old wipe down, vacuum your mattress and change your sheets regularly to make sure you’re getting the best from your bed.

Mickey Two-Face, Male, 5yrs

Mickey was straying for a long time before he was brought into Cats Protection by a kind member of the public who was concerned for his welfare. Mickey is a quieter lad and takes a little time to warm up to new people when he meets you for the first time, which is unsurprising really given his past but once he gets to know you, you’ll soon realise that he has a whole lot of love to give and very gooey soft centre! Mickey is the type of cat that often gets overlooked as he spends much of his time hiding away but all he needs is quieter home and understanding owners.

Muriel, Female, 5yrs

Muriel is a sweet little thing, she’s a very affectionate kitty cat and such a polite young lady! She loves a fuss and honestly, she has THE softest plush velvet fur it has to be seen to be believed. We can tell that Muriel has had a good life and has been well cared for prior to coming to us. This little one yearns to get her paws into a loving home where she has space to roam, people to love her, and enjoy getting back to doing the catty things she loved to do before. To enquire please contact Cats Protection York on 01904 760356 or via www.cats.org.uk/york.
