TIME OUT
The Lodge
Step through Babohi’s wooden double doors, take a deep breath and relax as you’re greeted by friendly smiles, warm and inviting contemporary decor and genuine African hospitality. The first thing to catch your eye will probably be the expansive pool deck that frames the true stars of the show: the unique Waterberg mountains and their cinematic sunsets. Two bars are also perfectly positioned here for sundowners or a nightcap. The Babohi Spa has been given pride of place over two levels to make the most of the bush views, as our expert beauty and wellness therapists work wonders to banish those city stresses for good.
The Bush
More than 5 500 species of biodiverse flora co-exist with the Big Five in this majestic part of the malaria-free Waterberg – a protected, UNESCO Savannah biosphere. Renowned veterinarian Dr Andre Uys and his team of field guides will take you on twice-daily game drives. Twitchers won’t be disappointed either, with over 200 species of bird having been spotted so far. If you’re lucky, you might even catch a glimpse of the elusive aardvark on one of your evening drives.
The Rooms
Babohi offers 25 luxury rooms and suites spread across the lodge, each with majestic views of the surrounding wilderness. Luxury suites come with a private plunge pool and wood-fired kol-kol hot tub that is fired up for you – the ultimate spot to have a soak before or after a chilly evening game drive. And if you’re in the mood for total seclusion, Babohi offers private dining and butler services in the Lion Presidential Suite.
The Cuisine
A variety of locally sourced ingredients, recipes and cooking styles are a top priority at Babohi Lodge. Chris Erasmus, food and beverage curator for Newmark Hotels and Reserves, has crafted a gastronomic environment where guests can choose to be as involved as they’d like. Want to try your hand at cooking tableside? Hibachi grills are available. Prefer a premium dining experience under the stars? Then opt for Chris’ a la carte menu inspired by years of fine-dining experience. You’ll also enjoy the surprise details organised by the lodge staff, as well as the mouth-watering high tea where you can satisfy your sweet tooth.
