Equation Marchante

A complication as exceptional as this is mesmerising, the Equation Marchante records the difference between local time - the time that punctuates our daily lives - and solar time - the time dictated by the earth’s rotation relative to the sun. Featuring a perpetual calendar and a tourbillon, this Marine piece is made in platinum, a rare and durable precious metal renowned for its remarkable resistance to corrosion and enduring brilliance.

The origins of the contemporary collection trace back to the prestigious title "Watchmaker to the French Royal Navy" awarded to Abraham-Louis Breguet, founder of the eponymous workshop in 1775, by Louis XVIII on October 27th, 1815, a year after he was appointed a member of the Board of Longitude. This distinguished role crowned the revolutionary advances that the master made over four decades and drew on his scientific knowledge acquired during his training with his mathematician Father Joseph-François Marie, as well as renowned watchmakers such as Ferdinand Berthoud and Jean-Antoine Lépine. It enabled him to design marine chronometers, indispensable precision tools for astronomical navigation, and to calculate the position of ships in a fleet.

Montres Breguet's rich heritage, which connects the House to the oceans and navigation, has paved the way for the Marine collection, a family of timepieces with a sporty silhouette and signature aesthetics that clearly evoke the codes of the marine world: a dial decorated with a hand guilloché "wave" motif, a crown guard with an undulating profile, a hand finished with an anchor among other distinctive features.

This highly technical timepiece, featuring three mechanical high complications: the running equation of time, perpetual calendar, and tourbillon, - driven by the self-winding Calibre 581DPE, embodies the spirit of innovation that has characterised the brand since its inception.

This exceptional complication simultaneously displays the difference between mean solar time (calendar hours and minutes) and true solar time (used since ancient times, it can maximally deviate by up to 14 minutes late or 16 minutes early) thanks to an equation of time cam linked to a feeler to drive the equation lever.

With the Marine 5887, reading the time is instantaneous thanks to its two minute hands: one Breguet-style with a luminescent tip for calendar time, and the other, finished with a gold plated, diamond polished and fluted ring, for solar time.

Acting like a mechanical diary, this complication indicates the date with an anchor-shaped retrograde hand that follows an arcshaped scale, graduated from 1 to 31, located in the upper part of

breguet.com

the dial. The day, month and leap year are displayed in two open windows at 10.30 and 1.30. This information is detailed in white on a black background for easy legibility.

Created by Abraham-Louis Breguet, patented in 1801 to counter the adverse effects of gravity on the running of mechanical movements in pocket watches, features a titanium cage and a Breguet balance-spring made in silicon at around 5 o'clock.

To enhance the functionalities of the Marine Equation Marchante 5887, a blued gauge positioned between 7 and 8.30 o’clock provides information on the level of stored energy available, which amounts to 80 hours when the watch is fully wound.

An engraved platinum peripheral oscillating weight decorated with a "wave" motif wraps around the hand chiselled back of the calibre 581DPE depicting the silhouette of the Royal Louis, a Royal Navy warship commissioned in 1752. The barrel is decorated with a hand engraved compass rose.

Guilloché and engraving are delicate arts, executed by hand by exceptional artisans, true masters of their craft. Each pattern is patiently sculpted, each line traced with infinite precision, breathing unique, almost lifelike character into each timepiece. These pieces become much more than mere timepieces: they capture the essence of time and the soul of the artisan, offering a rare luxury — that of wearing an exclusive and inimitable work of art.

Presented in 2017, the Marine Equation Marchante 5887 initially featured a 43.9 mm diameter case available in platinum or pink gold with an ultramarine face. Three years later for the 220th anniversary of the tourbillon, the collection was expanded to include the warm reflections of pink gold combined with a chocolate-coloured dial.

This autumn, Montres Breguet completes the series by choosing the gentle strength of platinum for its fluted case. This precious grey metal is combined with the black hue for the "wave" guilloché dial, evoking the image of an ocean cradled by the silvery glow of the Moon.

At the centre of this image, four hands play a precise role: the stylised pair of Breguet hands with Super-LumiNova® filled tips indicating the hours and minutes, the hand with a golden circle indicating the solar time, and finally the hand with an anchor indicating the date. Raised blackened gold appliques Roman numerals are set on a wide circular-brushed ring, interspersed with luminescent dots and surmounted by gold hour-markers in the shape of nautical pennants.

FINE WATCHMAKING

Celebrating ten years since the debut of the Master Hybris Mechanica Calibre 362, Jaeger-LeCoultre unveils a stunning reinterpretation of its ultra-thin minute repeater. This exclusive edition, limited to just five pieces, features a striking midnightblue sunray dial set within an 18k white gold case.

Renowned for its groundbreaking engineering and refined aesthetic, the Master Hybris Mechanica Calibre 362 is a testament to Jaeger-LeCoultre’s ingenuity and master craftsmanship. At the time of its release, it stood among the thinnest minute repeater wristwatches with a tourbillon in production. Even today, it remains the thinnest minute repeater in the brand’s collection, with a case measuring only 7.8mm thick. This remarkable feat is further underscored by its highcomplication, self-winding movement - the calibre itself comprises 566 components and is just 4.7mm.

The creation of the Master Hybris Mechanica Calibre 362 draws on Jaeger-LeCoultre’s longstanding expertise in chiming mechanisms and precision timekeeping. Since crafting its first minute repeater in 1870, La Grande Maison has developed over 200 chiming calibres, ranging from simple alarms to complex Grandes Sonneries and Westminster chimes. The watchmakers have continually refined acoustic performance, focusing on the efficiency of chiming mechanisms and the clarity and beauty of their sound.

Precision has been a cornerstone of JaegerLeCoultre’s philosophy since its founding in 1833. This commitment manifests in two ways: the precise engineering required for miniaturisation and ultrathin calibres, and the relentless pursuit of accuracy in timekeeping. The latter includes pioneering research into regulating organs, from hairspring designs to innovative tourbillon configurations.

Jaeger-LeCoultre’s dedication to ultra-thin watchmaking reflects its ethos of blending technical prowess with artistic elegance. This tradition traces

back to the 1907 collaboration between Edmond Jaeger and Jacques-David LeCoultre, which produced one of the world’s thinnest pocket watches. The Master Hybris Mechanica Calibre 362 continues this legacy, combining exceptional thinness with cutting-edge horological advancements.

The Master Hybris Mechanica Calibre 362 incorporates eight patents, including two for prior innovations - crystal gongs (2005) and trebuchet hammers (2009) - and six developed specifically for this model which includes: Flying balance wheel; Flying balance wheel in a flying tourbillon; S-shaped hairspring; Fixed winding stroke on the minute repeater; Retractable pushbutton on the minute repeater; Silent-timelapse reduction on the minute repeater.

To achieve its extraordinary thinness, Jaeger-LeCoultre reimagined the regulating organ, creating a unique flying tourbillon with a visible, uncaged balance wheel. This design not only enhances the movement’s stability and precision but also offers an unobstructed view of the tourbillon’s captivating motion. Complementing this innovation, the patented S-shaped hairspring improves space efficiency while delivering outstanding performance.

The calibre’s automatic winding mechanism presented another challenge. Traditional rotors add thickness by sitting atop the movement. Jaeger-LeCoultre’s solution was a pioneering peripheral rotor, crafted from Platinum 950/1000 for optimal weight and mounted on ceramic ball bearings to minimise friction. This configuration not only preserves the watch’s slim profile but also enhances its visual appeal, allowing the rotor’s motion to be observed through the dial and the sapphire case back.

Crystal gongs and trebuchet hammers elevate the minute repeater’s acoustic performance. The gongs are attached directly to the sapphire crystal, transforming it into a resonator with exceptional sound quality. Trebuchet hammers recover most of the energy lost in traditional designs, producing a chime of unparalleled strength. A further enhancement is the silenttimelapse reduction, which eliminates the long pause between hour and minute chimes when no quarter-hour is struck, ensuring a seamless auditory experience.

The Master Hybris Mechanica Calibre 362 also excels in design. A retractable push-button system, activated by a discreet locking mechanism, preserves the case’s elegant lines while facilitating water resistance up to 3 bar - a rarity among minute repeaters.

At 41mm in diameter and just 7.8mm thick, the case design pays homage to Jaeger-LeCoultre’s early 20th-century ultrathin pocket watches, particularly the iconic 1907 couteau (knife) model. Crafted from white gold, chosen for its superior acoustic properties, the case features a deep midnight-blue sunray dial framed by a polished bezel and refined lugs. The understated dial design - with elongated Dauphine hands, baton hour markers, and white minute dots - harks back to the maison’s classic pocket watches.

Haute horlogerie finishes, such as Côtes de Genève on the bridges and meticulous hand-bevelling with sharp internal angles, highlight the craftsmanship of Jaeger-LeCoultre’s Métiers Rares™ atelier. Even the peripheral rotor is delicately snailed, showcasing the maison’s unwavering attention to detail. With its eight patents, including six groundbreaking innovations, the Master Hybris Mechanica Calibre 362 epitomises Jaeger-LeCoultre’s relentless pursuit of horological excellence. This masterpiece is not just a celebration of technical ingenuity but a symbol of the maison’s enduring legacy of elegance and innovation.

CARILLON TOURBILLON

As the very first Biver watch, launched in March 2023, The Carillon Tourbillon soon saw Biver experimenting with different ways this archetype could embody the house's approach to watchmaking art.

This led to an unusual two-tone version that combined lightweight titanium with warm 18k 5N rose gold and pushed things even further with an openworked obsidian dial that showed off the incredible Calibre JCB.001-B.

Until now, Biver had quietly made a few of these special watches for collectors around the world, but as the house prepares for some exciting developments ahead, they have highlighted this unique creation that is a favourite around the Biver workshops in Givrins, Switzerland.

Lightweight and comfortable on the wrist, both the open-worked dial and titanium case allow the repeater gongs to truly resonate, producing a strong, clear sound. It is beautiful in both form and function, showing off the skills of the master watchmakers and decorators who work together to create something greater than the sum of its parts.

With a neoclassical watchmaking approach, being inspired by the past while also wanting to create something genuinely new that moves watchmaking art forward, Biver created The Carillon Tourbillon Two-Tone to be the perfect embodiment of that notion, with its titanium and rose gold case inspired by some of house's favourite vintage watches, while its openwork obsidian stone dial shows off the contemporary Calibre JCB.001-B inside. It is a balance of classical ideas and modern inspiration, that not only has a distinct personality but also unique values.

“Two-tone watches have always held a special place in my heart, as they represent an era of watchmaking that particularly inspires me – the 1970s and 80s,” says Maison Biver co-founder and creative director Pierre Biver. “Since we initially launched the Carillon Tourbillon with two different metals, rose gold and titanium, we decided to experiment with how these two metals would combine. It was a bold decision, and technically challenging, but we are extremely pleased with the result.”

To celebrate, Biver have chosen to offer one last example of this idiosyncratic watch before beginning their next experiment and adventure. It is presented on a dark grey nubuck crocodile strap with an 18k rose gold pin buckle, with a two-tone titanium and 18k rose gold bracelet available on request.

10TH Fundamental Invention

2024 sees Greubel Forsey's 20th anniversary and to celebrate they present its 10th Fundamental Invention: the Nano Foudroyante EWT.

Limited to just 11 pieces, the result is a 37.9mm timepiece that combines the world’s first perpetual Nano Foudroyante with Greubel Forsey’s first flying tourbillon and manual wind flyback. The mechanism’s energy is managed at the nanojoule scale, significantly reducing the number of components and the overall dimensions.

The first Fundamental Invention by Robert Greubel and Stephen Forsey was launched in 2004, marking the Atelier’s commitment to research and invention. For over 20 years, this focus has been at the heart of all Greubel Forsey’s Fundamental Inventions and timepieces. Today, Greubel Forsey’s research is even more fundamental, aiming to completely rethink the approach to the conception of a timepiece. This endeavour demonstrates a major technological leap, comparable to the transition from tower clocks to wristwatches. Originally, horological instruments were large and public. Over time, they became transportable (table clocks, marine chronometers), then portable with pocket watches, and finally wearable with wristwatches. This evolution reaches its peak today with nanomechanics - a revolution Greubel Forsey is pioneering. Thus, Greubel Forsey introduces its 10th invention: the Nano Foudroyante. This new Fundamental Invention is the most technologically disruptive - not only for Greubel Forsey but also

for the universe of mechanical watchmaking as a whole.

So what are nanomechanics? It is a realm beyond the miniaturisation of components to the nanometric scale. When we talk about nanomechanics, we’re talking about controlling energy on a nanojoule scale within a mechanical movement. This revolution in energy management within a caliber allows for a drastic reduction in both energy consumption and the number of components.

To demonstrate the feasibility of nanomechanics, Greubel Forsey has reinvented the foudroyante second. Its hand completes one revolution per second, dividing it into segments according to the movement’s frequency. In this Nano Foudroyante, each oscillation of the 3 Hz balance wheel produces two beats, totalling six beats per second, allowing the hand to divide the second into six distinct segments. This is an energy-intensive complication by nature. However, by managing energy on a nanojoule scale, Greubel Forsey has radically rethought its design and construction.

Compared to a traditional foudroyante that consumes 30μJ (microjoules) per jump, the Nano Foudroyante operates with only 16nJ (nanojoules) per jump, reducing energy consumption by a factor of 1,800. The mechanism’s volume is therefore reduced by 90%. Here, the focus is not just on measuring fractions of a second but as a proof of concept for a completely new approach to watchmaking, which is why this Nano Foudroyante was chosen to be a perpetual display.

greubelforsey.com

GREUBEL FORSEY

It eliminates the entire gear train required in a traditional foudroyante to divide the second, as the information is sourced directly, distributing and managing the energy from the movement through a minimal number of low-inertia wheels. Fewer components mean less volume: this Nano Foudroyante EWT is very compact, with 428 components, and the movement measures no more than 31mm in diameter within a 37.9mm case (the smallest ever built by Greubel Forsey).

There’s more: true to Greubel Forsey’s passion for the tourbillon, this Nano Foudroyante is integrated within a flying tourbillon—the first ever made by Greubel Forsey. Finally, an additional innovation: although this flying tourbillon rotates constantly, the Nano Foudroyante’s dial remains permanently aligned towards twelve o’clock for optimal readability.

Together with the flyback, these three features complete Greubel Forsey's 10th Fundamental Invention: a Nano Foudroyante, set within a flying tourbillon, with an oriented reading axis. This is just the foundation and not the end result: this 10th Invention is powered by a manual-winding flyback

movement.

Made in a limited edition of just 11 pieces in this inaugural, refined version, emphasising its disruptive technical character and highlighting the personality of a timepiece brilliantly conceived in the EWT (Experimental Watch Technology) laboratory. The white gold case offers an additional surprise, with a bezel and back crafted from tantalum - a first for Greubel Forsey, who have never used this material before. Known for its grey-blue sheen and complexity in machining and finishing (with a melting point above 3000°C), tantalum requires rare expertise.

Elsewhere, the Atelier also preserves its essential aesthetic signatures, including polished relief engravings of “Nano Foudroyante” and “Greubel Forsey” on a hand-hammered background, hand-satin-finished white gold, and a highly architectural movement. This masterpiece displays the movement around its column wheel with rare 3D monobloc geometry, visible through the back.

Finally, the impressive timepiece is engraved with “20042024” and “20th Anniversary” to mark this milestone.

DEFY EXTREME DIVER

After introducing its new line of diver’s watches earlier this year at Watches & Wonders as a contemporary continuation of the Defy’s long history of rugged watches built to take on demanding and extreme conditions, Zenith is unveiling the new edition of the Defy Extreme Diver with a silvery-white dial. Extreme in both form and function, the Defy Extreme Diver is the latest in a long line of purpose- built Defy watches, going as far back as 1969. Inspired by both historical Defy diver’s references as well as the modern incarnation of the Defy line, notably the Defy Extreme, the Defy Extreme Diver is a featurepacked diver’s watch that is inherently a Zenith Defy, built to withstand the extreme conditions encountered in the harshest environments where ice, mist and deep dark waters call for enhanced performance and legibility

As a collection designed to brave the elements and offer incredible robustness and ruggedness, a diver’s watch was always a natural extension of Zenith's most daring line. Maintaining the Defy's distinctive design with its signature angular case and faceted bezel, Zenith incorporated all the necessary elements to create a diver’s watch, including a rotating bezel and bright colour accents for instant readability underwater and the most extreme conditions where visibility is extremely limited. .

With a singular yet familiar and modernistic silhouette, this Defy Extreme Diver’s highly intricate case design serves to enhance its depth-defying performance. Measuring 42.5mm in diameter, the angular case is crafted in titanium, a metal that not only boasts a significant weight-to-strength ratio but is also highly resistant to corrosion from salty seawater. The case is also equipped with a helium escape valve for saturation diving. Above the fixed dodecagonal bezel, the black ceramic unidirectional rotating bezel features grooved edges for a better grip when operating - even with gloves on. The bezel is engraved and filled with Super-LumiNova for effortless reading underwater where

light is scarce.

Powered by the El Primero 3620-SC automatic highfrequency manufacture calibre with 60 hours power reserve, visible through a sapphire display back – an uncommon feature among diver’s watches, the watch has been designed to be tightly secured in place but with enough grip to easily operate. The oversized screw-down crown is protected by titanium crownguards on either side.

Just like the historical Defy A3648 from 1969, the Defy Extreme Diver is rated to 600 metres (60 ATM) of waterresistance, which happens to be 1’969 feet - a symbolic number for the Defy diver. It not only meets the ISO 6245 standards for diver watches, which includes ISO 764 for paramagnetism and ISO 1413 for shock-resistance, making it a comprehensive diver’s watch suited to the most demanding conditions.

Something of a signature in the contemporary Defy line, the dial features a geometric pattern of engraved four-pointed stars, a symbol that first appeared on the Defy models on the case back and crown in 1969. Specially for this new Defy Extreme Diver, the dial is done in a silvery-white tone, with sunburst finish featuring rays emanating from the applied Zenith star at 12 o’clock. The date at 3 o’clock is colour-matched to the dial.

Keeping readability in mind, the Defy Extreme Diver’s dial is set with oversized hands and applied hour markers that feature three different pigments of “X1” grade Super-LumiNova, with light emissions in blue, green and yellow. This light display helps to instantly distinguish between the hours, minutes, and seconds.

The bright orange accents are a nod to historical Defy diver models, from a time when it was believed that bright orange was the most highly legible colour underwater.

The new Defy Extreme Diver is available exclusively from Zenith’s physical, online boutiques and through authorised retailers worldwide.

Universal GenèveSAS

In honour of the 70th anniversary of the first Scandinavian Airlines System (SAS) flight over the North Pole from Copenhagen to Los Angeles in 1954, Universal Genève is releasing three special tribute Polerouter SAS watches ahead of the storied brand’s revival in 2026.

A shared spirit of innovation led SAS to ask Universal Genève to create a watch that could support pilots flying over the North Pole for the first time. The inaugural SAS flight on November 15, 1954, significantly reduced travel time between Copenhagen and Los Angeles, trimming 2,600 kilometers from the journey. The resulting watch - the iconic Polerouter - met the challenge with both style and safety in mind.

Its innovative two-part dial construction was designed to be resistant to shocks, magnetism, and moisture, as well as to handle any climate from the pole to the equator. A watch that proved not only functional but also beautiful in its simplicity, it was created by a young Gérald Genta at just 23. He would go on to become one of the most important watch designers of all time.

Universal Genève CEO Georges Kern says, “We are very excited to present these three tribute pieces ahead of the 2026 revival of Universal Genève. They are as distinctive as the legendary Polerouter and perfectly embody the spirit of Le Couturier de la Montre.”

Universal Genève Managing Director Gregory Bruttin says, “The use of the iconic ‘Microtor’ Caliber 1-69 in these tribute pieces along with the design touches inspired by Gérald Genta are a fantastic homage to the original Polerouter.”

In the late 1950s, the Polerouter was enhanced by the world’s thinnest movement, a “Microtor” automatic calibre, measuring just 4.1mm. Featuring a two-day power reserve, this innovation was achieved by positioning the rotor between the plate and bridges instead of above the movement as in most self-winding watches. An original and innovative idea at the time, this refinement drove innovation and creativity.

All three of the tribute pieces combine a newly designed case with a historic Microtor movement, representing a bridge between the history and future of Universal Genève.

For these special versions, the rehauts are guillochéd with the point of a diamond to achieve an incredible brilliance that contrasts with the satin-finish dial to provide a modern take on the distinctive design codes that make the Polerouter such a recognisable timepiece.

The first of three tribute timepieces features both the new Universal Genève logo and the historic and modern SAS logos on the dial in the vibrant signature blue of SAS, along with a handcrafted white-gold bracelet. It is to be auctioned off at Phillips in Association with Bacs & Russo in May of 2025, to benefit CFP Arts in Geneva, which teaches applied arts, ensuring critical knowledge of watchmaking savoir faire exists for generations to come.

Microblading

"Everyone has the right to feel confident in their own skin"

Founder and CEO of Nouveau HD Beauty Group and owner of Karen Betts Clinics, Karen Betts is a leading authority in permanent makeup and medical tattooing in the UK. With 30 years of experience under her belt and having been awarded many prestigious awards for her work in the industry, she now focuses on elevating the industry standards in delivering Microblading and Digital Makeup treatments to continue the growth of the consumer demand for Permanent Cosmetics. Renowned for her expertise in permanent makeup, she has assembled an elite team of talented artists who have been personally trained by Karen herself to work in her clinics across the country and who all share her commitment to excellence.

At Karen Betts Professional natural-looking, beautiful brows are created for anyone looking to enhance their face due to hair loss, lack of definition or simply the desire for a fuller, more shapely and often more symmetrical set of brows. Karen doesn’t follow trends, and she believes that keeping up with eyebrow trends is unrealistic because not all new trends is for everyone. We all have different face shapes, hair types and growth patterns and at Karen Betts, each treatment is tailored to the individual. Karen believes eyebrows should be treated like a haircut, designed to suit our face shape, skin and hair type and in doing this, microblading can achieve highly effective and natural looking results. This benefits your brow health long-term and relieves you of the pressure of unrealistic beauty standards. Karen says that you wouldn’t change your hair cut or colour every time there is a new trend, and the same thinking should be applied to your brows.

Microblading has been around for many years and is a revolutionary technique that is always high in demand. Sought-after specifically for eyebrows, it can transform your face with remarkable precision and longevity. This method uses a state-of-the-art handheld tool to create ultra-fine, precision hair-like strokes that mimic the natural direction and length of your brow hairs, making it ideal for those with sparse or thinning brows. Hair strokes and shading is

performed by a microblade which is a hand tool with no power and when done correctly, implants pigment into the dermal layer of the skin.

This is a 100% bespoke treatment that is designed around your personal face shape, colouring and skin type. Karen always advises that natural is best and she encourages the enhancement of what clients already have. It’s all about subtle treatments that create natural results, helping them to look and feel their best.

Karen believes that selecting the right clinic is crucial and factors such as medical history must be considered before any treatment begins and the faceto-face consultation process at all of Karen’s clinics adheres to the best quality and safety guidelines. This involves talking in detail about skin tone, skin tone analysis and the most suitable technique to be used for desired results and suitability. If you’ve had permanent eyebrow or makeup treatments in the past, you may not be suitable and similarly if you’ve recently had tweakments like Botox or fillers, you’ll need to wait. This helps both the client and the artist to ensure the desired results are created. Brows are drawn on with a makeup pencil during consultation and can be adjusted fifty times if necessary. The tattoo process only begins when the client is completely happy with what they are going to look like.

Microblading is a sustainable option because it requires less maintenance. Permanent make-up is designed to look like an enhanced version of your own features, not a strong made-up effect. This way you can opt for a more natural every day look and then add more makeup on top for more glamourous occasions.

Results can last for up to 18 months, which means no eyebrow pencil or treatments in between leaving you to feel confident daily that your brows look effortlessly natural with no fuss needed.

As skin is unpredictable and varies from personto-person, a retouch appointment between 4-12 weeks after the initial treatment should be made and is always recommended to assess how the brows are healing and to address any issues.

GREATER PALM SPRINGS

With average temperatures of 2530 degrees in the autumn, 300+ days of sunshine a year and only an incredible handful days of rain, the bright blue skies of the desert make for the perfect time to visit to enjoy some true winter sunshine.

What many can only imagine as a perfect summer, is in fact, Greater Palm Springs autumn weather. While the mornings can feel cool, the afternoons are warm and bright - like a comforting hug of sunshine and vitamin infused goodness - before cooling down again when the sun goes down.

It's an exciting time for the area with more happening now than ever before. Palm Springs International Airport offers non-stop flights to 30 plus destinations, as well as connections from more than 500 destinations worldwide. America's Number 1 morning talk show, Live With Kelly and Mark just filmed a series of shows in the destination, and regardless of reputation there is so much more to Greater Palm Springs than retirees in the sun, Coachella and Hollywood glamour of yesteryear. Of course, both play a huge part - who wouldn't want to retire to a sunshine filled paradise, and the stars of the silver screen (and many

a reality star, such as the Kardashians!) still do escape the bright lights and epic traffic of LA to enjoy a peaceful holiday away from it all, but that isn't all to the area by any stretch.

Hugely inclusive and inviting with a strong LGBTQ+ community, the destination boasts something for everyone, from sun seeking to thrill seeking, visitors can enjoy some world-class food, retail, accommodations and activities in this desert oasis, all against the endless backdrop of the San Jacinto mountains.

Joshua Tree National Park is renowned around the world as one of the most spectacular desert landscapes. Used as inspiration for many art forms, including the cover of the U2 album, the stunning park is comprised of almost 800,000 acres of granite monoliths and enormous rock and boulder formations. The park's namesake, the Joshua Tree stands tall, with many in various stages of growth showcasing their unique wavy arms, along with other diverse forms of plant life from creosote to ocotillo.

A haven for outdoor enthusiasts, RV holiday makers and naturalists, there are plenty of areas to explore and enjoy the vast landscape. Park rangers offer special programs and ranger-led tours that educate visitors about the park’s geography, wildlife, and plant life, as well as its colourful

visitgreaterpalmsprings.com

history dating back to the early Pinto Man and the plucky gold seekers of the 1800s. Stop for a picnic, admire the dangerous cacti from afar, or climb up onto the aptly named Skull Rock. You could spend days here and still not see it all.

Nearby Pioneertown is well worth a trip too. Founded by a group of Hollywood investors in 1946, the Old West style set has seen more than 50 films and television shows filmed here in the 1940s and 50s. Today, explore the independent stores that lie behind the 1880's false-front facades.

Another must-do for any budding explorer is the Desert Adventures Eco Tour of the San Andreas Fault. Climb aboard a Big Red Jeep and let your tour guide wind through the labyrinth of geological cuts and canyons of the San Andreas Fault Zone, while you learn all about the plants, animals and geology of the vast Californian desert.

The deep canyons have been created by the ever-changing forces of plate tectonics, water, wind and time. On the tour, you will discover the desert oasis, and learn about the culture

and lifestyle of the Cahuilla Indians, who once resided there and how they used the desert's plants for food, medicine, tools, weapons and shelter.

Art and architecture play a huge part of Greater Palm Springs history. From colourful murals to the stunning Mid-Century Modern homes in the area, there's inspiration around every corner.

The area is packed full of iconic architecture, both residential and commercial. The Modern Tour with Michael Stern is the official tour of the Palm Springs Art Museum Architecture + Design Center. Led by Michael, you can tour some classic examples of Mid-Century Modern architecture and design, as well as historical marvels like the Frey House II.

Not far from Frey House II, you can create your own piece of art at studio Superbloom. Having worked in fashion for over 15 years, creators Alexis Palomino and Chris Ramirez, have developed an inspired studio where visitors can come and create their own custom piece of artwork. Each letter of the word Superbloom stands for a different hue and a powerful meaning

that inspires individuals to find their balance using colour and meaning. Hugely fun and interestingly freeing, let the colours guide you and either bring you own item to paint or pick an item - you can even customise some Converse shoes!

You can combine architecture and history with a visit to Sunnylands in Rancho Mirage. Described as the 'Camp David of the West', the Sunnylands Center and Gardens was completed in 1966 and has had a varied and glamorous history. Originally established as the winter residence of Ambassador Walter Annenberg, and his wife Leonore, the beautiful home and manicured gardens now form a crucial venue for high level national and global leaders to come together to discuss crucial issues around the world. The impressive exhibition centre also hosts a number of cultural and environmental programmes, continuing to create and enrich discussions that involve the public and the world around us, reflecting the Annenberg's original vision of the home.

Frank Sinatra got married here, and the tour of the house is worth it alone just to see the office and its spectacular array of pictures of guests over the years, which include The Queen, King Charles III, Ronald Reagan and Margaret Thatcher.

Further down, in the east valley, Coachella - where interestingly the famed music festival isn't held, it's actually held in nearby Indio - is the Coachella Walls project. Coachella is the epicentre of Mexican culture in the Coachella Valley and is renowned for its internationally famous murals and vibrant cultural celebrations like Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead).

Once a thriving farming community, where settlers discovered abundant water supplies and fertile soil, the illustrated walls began as a project in 2014 with a moving portrait of a farmworker by acclaimed LA artist El Mac. The portrait pays homage to the history of the area when workers marched with Cesar Chavez in marches for higher pay and better working conditions, today the walls - with art created by numerous artist continue to bring important cultural events and topics to the forefront.

Elsewhere in the Coachella Valley is Shields Date Gardenhome to the famous Date Shake. Offering an interesting look into the agriculture and history of the date with the special 'Romance and Sex Life of the Date' exhibit, the 17 acre date grove and botanical garden was established in 1924 and sees visitors flock year round to enjoy sweet treats and walks through the picturesque gardens. Of course, many claim to have the best date shakes in the desert but here, you can try and see the dates all in one place.

Further showcasing the dramatic natural landscape of the area is The Living Desert Zoo and Botanical Gardens. Dedicated to conserving the precious desert ecosystems worldwide through preservation and education, the fascinating reserve offers visitors the chance to connect with nature and see over 140 desert dwelling animal species including giraffes, meerkats, wallabies and cheetahs. The garden also boasts 1,600 plant species that reflect the rich flora and fauna of desert environments.

After all that exploring, wind-down with a spot of retail therapy. El Paseo Shopping District has everything you could want.

The pretty palm lined street boasts an array of luxury retailers, from Gucci and Baccarat to Alo and Lilly Pulitzer, as well as independent boutiques, upscale restaurants like Sweet Basil California Eatery, and art dealers.

After all the activities - whether hiking or shopping - be sure to make the most of the natural hot mineral springs in Greater Palm Springs with a visit to the Agua Caliente Spa at Sec-He.

The Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians is an historic Palm Springs based federally recognised Native American Tribe with more than 500 members. The Tribe is steward to more

than 34,032 acres of ancient ancestral land. The cities of Palm Springs, Cathedral City and Rancho Mirage as well as portions of unincorporated Riverside County span across the boundaries of the Agua Caliente Indian Reservation.

The glorious 73,000+ square foot Spa at Sec-He is an award winning destination day spa at the Agua Caliente Cultural Plaza. Sec-He means 'sound of boiling water' in the Cahuilla language, and the hot springs here are enriched with healing minerals and have pushed through an underground reservoir, via rain and snowmelt from the top of the mountains, for nearly 12,000 years. With 22 private mineral hot springs baths that guests can enjoy solo for a highly rejuvenating dip, the spa also boasts a huge resort style outdoor pool with four jacuzzis and submerged sun-beds, 15 treatment rooms, a cryotherapy

A perfect and appealing hors d’oeuvre to serve any time of day.

Yields: 3 large croque’s ideal for 3 large meal servings; or 18 petite hors d’oeuvres ideal for 6 cocktail-size servings

INGREDIENTS

60ml Comte Mornay Sauce (recipe below) | 6 Sliced Brioche Bread | 50g Salted Butter | 3 Slices of Jambon de Paris or York Ham (approx. 100g total) | 60g Grated Comte Cheese | 18 Fresh Quail Eggs

COMTE MORNAY SAUCE INGREDIENTS

½ litre Whole Organic Milk | ½ a Small Onion (fine julienne slices) | 1 Bay Leaf | 2 Cloves | 50g AP Flour | 50g French Butter | 5g Salt | 2g White Pepper | 20g Dijon Mustard | 60g Grated Comte Cheese | 10g Grated Parmesan Cheese

METHOD

For the Mornay sauce, place the milk in a pot along with the thinly sliced onion, bay leaf and cloves, and leave it to steep over a very low heat until very hot. Set aside for 20 minutes to infuse the flavour of the aromatics. After 20 minutes, strain through a fine strainer.

In a medium sized sauce pot add the 50g of butter and stir over a medium heat. Add the flour and stir with a wooden spoon to form a roux and cook over a very low heat for 30 seconds. Gradually add the infused milk to the roux, little by little, stirring continuously until all of the milk has been incorporated. Bring the

sauce to a gentle simmer stirring all the time until the sauce is thick, creamy, and free of lumps.

Add the Dijon mustard, Parmesan and the Comte cheese and mix in well until fully melted and incorporate. Leave the sauce to one side to cool slightly. While cooling, stir the sauce occasionally to prevent a skin from forming.

BUILDING OF THE CROQUE

Place 3 pieces of the sliced brioche on a clean work table. Spread 1 tablespoon of the Mornay sauce over each slice of brioche. Place one slice of the cut ham over the Mornay sauce, add another tablespoon of the Mornay, and spread over all of the ham. Place another piece of brioche over the sauce to make a sandwich. Press down lightly over the bread to adhere the sandwich together. Spoon a heaped tablespoon of the Mornay over the top piece of the sandwich and spread evenly. Sprinkle well with some of the grated Comte cheese.

Butter a baking sheet heavily with the French butter. Place the baking sheet of Croque’s in a preheated oven at 175°C for about 8-12 minutes until light golden brown. Remove the Croque’s from the oven and leave to cool.

PERFECT BRUNCH, LUNCH OR EVENING SNACK

Once removed from the oven the Croque’s are best consumed immediately as a delicious hot sandwich to be enjoyed during the day or evening.

They can also be topped with an over easy egg as a Croque Madame.

MAKE THIS CLASSIC FRENCH SNACK INTO A WHIMSICAL HORS D’OEUVRES

Leave the whole Croque’s to chill at room temperature. Once chilled refrigerate for at least 2 hours in the refrigerator.

Once totally chilled, remove the crusts with a serrated bread knife and cut the sandwich into 6 equally sized pieces.

HOW TO SERVE THE CROQUE HORS D’OEUVRES

Reheat the bite sized Croque pieces in preheated oven at 175°C for about 2-3 minutes. Top each Petite Croque with a sunny side up fried quail egg that has been neatly shaped by cutting round with a small pastry cutter.

Sprinkle the egg yolk with a little black lava sea salt and or fresh snipped chives. Bon Appetit!

Fortnum & Mason Afternoon Tea

Christmas in the capital would be incomplete without a visit to Fortnum & Mason, and this year is no different. The Festive Afternoon Tea returns in all its glory for guests to embrace the Yuletide spirit with a selection of seasonal winter treats and a glass of Champagne, or two.

In true Fortnum’s style, the Diamond Jubilee Tea Salon has been decked out with festive decor, from twinkling Christmas trees to colourful cake stands topped high with glistening patisserie, with the gentle hum of Christmas carols played from the salon’s grand piano in the background.

Executive Pastry Chef Roger Pizey and his skilled team of seasoned pastry chefs are once again bringing the Christmas spirit to Fortnum's iconic afternoon tea offering. With vegan and vegetarian tea options available, alongside bespoke menus for those who veer away from dairy and gluten, the tea salon ensures there is something for everyone who visits over the winter period. As well as the classic Afternoon Tea, Roger’s team serves a Savoury Tea and a traditional High Tea, to elevate the occasion even more.

The Classic menu begins in true ‘teatime’ form, with a selection of finger sandwiches: Coronation chicken; Cotswold Legbar egg mayonnaise; Suffolk cured ham with mulled wine spices; Cucumber with lemon and mint; and Kames Bay Smoked Trout and chive cream cheese. Freshly baked scones follow, served with Fortnum’s strawberry & Champagne and Wild blueberry preserve, with a generous side of Somerset clotted cream.

The top tier of patisseries is inspired by some of the quintessential flavours of Christmas: Mandarin and Dark Chocolate Mousse;

Stem ginger loaf; Chocolate, Amarena and mascarpone cake; Roger’s take on the classic Parisienne 19th century Mont Blanc, resembling a snow-capped mountain; and his staple Rose Eclair.

A selection of hot dishes replace the finger sandwiches in the High Tea menu, usually served in the early evening. Guests can opt for an indulgent Victoria Lobster omelette with truffle; Confit Mayfield Duck Pithivier; or a Scotch Egg with Spiced Red Cabbage, to turn afternoon tea into the perfect pre-theatre meal.

The tea salon’s much-loved Savoury menu is a masterclass in the art of patisserie for those less partial to sugar. Seasonal scones, either Cropwell Bishop stilton or Ham, Grain Mustard and Barber cheddar, come with servings of Port & Cranberry Chutney and Chive Cream Cheese followed by pastries including Pheasant and Pork Sausage Roll with Prune and Caramelised Onion, Portland Crab & Saffron Tart and Oeufs Drumkilbo.

Globally recognised for their meticulous approach to tea, the team at Fortnum & Mason take the same care to ensure that their afternoon tea patisserie selection is of the highest calibre. As well as their speciality drinking teas, with many blends dating back 300 years, the tea salon also offers a number of twists on classic cocktails to mark the festive occasion: Earl Grey Negroni which combines Gin, Campari and Sweet Vermouth blended and infused with Fortnum’s Earl Grey tea, or for something spicier, the Turtle Dove which blends Bacardi, Pineapple and Winter spices.

Christmas Afternoon Tea is available from £80 per person (menu depending) and served every day in the Diamond Jubilee Tea Salon.

DISHOOM

After countless days eating, drinking and exploring the streets of Bombay, sampling over 650 dishes, meeting new people and visiting new places that have left a lasting impression, the founders of Dishoom have introduced a brand-new menu to all cafés.

Fans with their favourite dishes need not worry, as alongside the much-loved hits, which are here to stay, guests can opt for new dishes from small plates, rolls and salads, to grills and curries.

New regional additions include a seafood staple, Goan Monkfish Curry, influenced by Bombay’s vibrant Goan community. With tender chunks of monkfish in a hot and sour sauce; the new curry is a contrast to the creamier Dishoom signatures of Chicken Ruby and Black Daal. Elsewhere, crispy and a little spicy, the golden fried Fish Amritsari is delicious when paired with a refreshing green chutney, and originates from Amritsar in the Majha region of Punjab. Also refreshing, and perfect for lunch, the chicken and mango salad boasts pieces of malai chicken with fresh mangoes, salad leaves, broccoli, and drizzled with a homemade mango chutney dressing.

New sides include the warm Aubergine Chutney, with pickling spices such as fennel and nigella in a sweet and sour curry base, while desserts such as the new Kala Khatta; Dishoom’s take on the traditional Kala Khatta, is sure to be a hit thanks to scrumptious almond cream served with Kala Khatta ice-cream - a sweet and tangy sherbert made from blackberries.

Each café will continue to feature its own special dish so you

can make your way around the country exploring new tastes and specials as you go. From Carnaby to Canary Wharf - who's special is Salli Boti, Britannia & Co.Tender lamb braised in a rich and flavoursome gravy then finished with crunchy salli crisp-chips. Served with buttered Roomali Roti.

Also new is the brand new drinks menu with over 23 new cocktails. Dishoom’s resident daru-wallas have been curating a selection of perfectly crafted cocktails from Sours & Fancies, Slings Coolers & Fizzes, Pegs, Punches, Wine and Teetotal options (tipples) to perfectly accompany your meal at Dishoom. Highlights include the Bombay Bellini (sparkling wine with juicy mango and guava syrup) and the Pistachio Kulfi Cream, a comforting treat with oat cream, pistachio butter and aromatic gin.

Shamil and Kavi Thakrar, Founders of Dishoom, explain: “Making significant changes to the Dishoom menu feels like a really big deal to us. Our recipes are a true labour of love - they take months - sometimes years - to get to somewhere where we’re really happy with them. It’s hard to say goodbye to any of them! Bombay, however, is a real melting pot of a city that is constantly bubbling and evolving. There are new ideas and influences each time we return. We went on a research trip to Bombay with Executive Chef Arun Tilak at the start of this year, and tried literally hundreds of dishes across the city. We returned brimming with ideas, and it feels like the right time to mix things up. We’re really proud of these new dishes on our menu, and hope you enjoy them too.”

Guests should make the most of their experience by enjoying a bespoke cocktail or two in the Lobby Bar. A twist on a traditional hotel space, the Lobby Bar was conceived for both work and play. Eclectic art is paired with iconic British and European design elements. The bar offers twists on classic cocktails and overlooks intimate seating areas with tufted sofas and a snooker table.

YOUR PALATE

Claridge's

Recently celebrating its 1st anniversary, Claridge’s Restaurant has successfully re-established itself as the go-to place for the residents and guests of Mayfair alike.

Last known as Claridge’s Restaurant over 20 years ago, the stylish destination is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Elegant and distinctive, the restaurant’s art deco starburst skylights were designed by Guy Oliver and artwork has been chosen from Claridge’s extensive private collection, with pieces from Sean Scully, Guggi, Richard Gorman and two bespoke commissions by Brian Clarke.

Paying particular homage to the iconic hotel’s art deco design heritage, Bryan O’Sullivan studio has sensitively restored the space to showcase the authentic glamour of which the hotel is renowned. No detail has been spared; using Calcutta Viola marble and antique brass and sumptuous banquette seating. The result is a wonderfully light, warm and welcoming dining room.

Service is as to be expected in such an esteemed venue, while the menu features dishes that are classically inspired with a modern twist, showcasing the very best of locally sourced, seasonal ingredients.

Facing the bar at the other end of the dining room, the marble-arched kitchen serves up highlights such as Buckwheat Crumpets, cloaked in soubise cream, truffle puree and slices of truffle; and the wonderfully warming and perfectly seasonal,

Jerusalem Artichoke Soup with pickled mushrooms.

Celebrating the restaurant's first anniversary new menu additions include the plump Claridge's Fish Cake served with tartare sauce, wakame salad and lemon; and Lobster spaghetti with roasted tomatoes and peppers. There's also a generous Seafood Tower now on offer too, with oysters, langoustine, crab, clams, mussels, brown shrimp and scallop.

Main highlights include Steak au Poivre with a mirror like peppercorn sauce and slices of truffle; Grilled Halibut with violet artichoke; and Celeriac Wellington. Sides such as the creamy Dauphinoise potatoes, Hispi cabbage Caesar; and honey glazed root vegetables round off the meal.

If you're in the mood to share, there's the show stopping Claridge's Fish Pie to share with Scottish langoustine, cod, salmon, prawn, smoked haddock and seasonal greens.

For dessert, sweet fans will want to try the sharing profiteroles with vanilla cream and hot chocolate sauce but for a more savoury finish a collection of all-British cheeses - sourced from Nottinghamshire to St. Andrew's - fits the bill and are accompanied by seasonal chutney and plum crackers.

The wine list to accompany is superb with sommeliers on hand to guide you. After dinner, conclude the evening with a cocktail.

The Honey & Orange Sour with Bombay Premier Cru, Beesou Aperitif, Cointreau and honey is our recommendation.

CELEBRATION

CHRISTMAS, NEW YEARS AND VALENTINES DAY

Champagne and celebration have gone hand in hand as far back as the fifth Century. At this time, the coronations of French royalty took place in Reims Cathedral. Champagne (which was a still wine at the time) was the drink of choice during the celebrations that followed, and it became standard practice to offer it to all Royals visiting the region.

Since then, Champagne has developed a global reputation for its excellence, and holds prime position as the tipple of choice for those special occasions and milestone moments in life; including

Christmas, New Years Eve, Valentines Day, Birthdays and Anniversaries.

But what makes Champagne so symbolic of celebratory occasions? As well as its rich heritage, it is renowned for its quality and craftsmanship - often referenced in films, music and books throughout the last couple of centuries.

Indeed, Champagne is often depicted during parties, toasts and special moments in the arts and pop-culture. In fact, you could say that Champagne has been the silent star of iconic moments in

To find out more about Champagne visit champagne.fr or enrol at champagne-mooc.com

film since the 1920’s. In The Great Gatsby, for example, Champagne is more than just a drink - it is a symbol of the roaring ‘20s lifestyle in which Champagne flows endlessly at Gatsby’s extravagant parties representing luxury, sophistication and celebration during that time.

Additionally, Champagne has a visual and sensory impact that is rather unique. The hiss of the cork opening adds a sense of excitement and liveliness to any occasion and the effervescence generated by the fine bubbles dancing is inherently festive. As such, Champagne has come to be associated with joy, positivity and success - and what better reason to celebrate?

With the season of Christmas, New Year and Valentines Day upon us, Champagne continues to be a staple for these events, particularly given its excellent versatility. The essential classic, a Champagne Brut is perfect for an aperitif but you can pair all your meals with various styles of Champagne. For example, Rosé Champagne is an excellent companion to main courses such as lobster and poultry or, if you’re really in the mood to celebrate, why not enjoy a Vintage Champagne (made exclusively from a single harvest year) - which truly is the most suitable companion to exceptional occasions, intimate gatherings, and memorable moments in life.

There is no drink more symbolic of celebratory occasions. Champagne’s heritage, paired with its excellence and cultural significance continue to solidify its positioning as the tipple of choice for the upcoming festivities. As Charles Dickens once said: “Champagne is one of the elegant extras in life.” We say Cheers to that!

CONTEMPORARY CLASSIC

TWR brings a modern take on the Jaguar XJS platform with some seriously athletic styling and highly advanced systems. Built to excel on both road and track, this is a car with classic aesthetics and contemporary construction that will turn heads everywhere it goes.

SUPERCAT the V12 Super-GT from TWR

TWR has officially unveiled the Supercat, a cutting-edge SuperGT built on the legendary Jaguar XJS platform. First teased in mid-2024, the Supercat has already garnered widespread praise from automotive enthusiasts and industry insiders alike ahead of its public debut.

The Supercat is the brainchild of a team composed of engineering luminaries with experience at McLaren, Ferrari, Porsche, Williams, and Renault F1. The project is spearheaded by TWR director and co-founder Fergus Walkinshaw, son of the late Tom Walkinshaw, the motorsport legend who led TWR Jaguars to victories in iconic races like the European Touring Car Championship, Spa 24 Hours, and Bathurst during the 1980s.

The Jaguar XJS serves as the foundation for the Supercat, enhanced by design cues from iconic TWR Jaguars such as the XJR-9, XJR-15, and XJ220. This tribute to motorsport history

combines rear-wheel drive with a six-speed manual gearbox for an authentic, analogue driving experience.

Powering the Supercat is a bespoke, in-house-developed supercharged V12 engine that delivers 660bhp and 730Nm of torque. This performance is matched by a suite of engineering enhancements, including a reinforced tubular steel framework and carbon-fibre body panels, reducing weight by over 9% compared to the original XJS (1,605kg vs. 1,770kg).

The Supercat is designed for dual-purpose excellence - excelling on both the road and the track. It features optional carbon ceramic brakes, adaptive traction control, launch control, and five driving modes to tailor its dynamics to diverse conditions. Double wishbone suspension with active dynamic damping ensures a smooth, responsive ride whether on a cross-country tour or a highspeed lap of the Nürburgring.

twrperformance.co.uk

Inside, the Supercat prioritises modern comfort and practicality. The expanded luggage space replaces the original XJS’ rear seats, making it ideal for grand touring. The cabin marries contemporary technology with classic Jaguar elegance, featuring carbon fibrebacked leather seats in modern or heritage styles, and a fully digital multimedia interface compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Renowned automotive designer Khyzyl Saleem shaped the Supercat’s striking silhouette, blending the timeless lines of the XJS with a bold, muscular stance. Collaborating with Magnus Walker, a legendary figure in car culture, the design celebrates TWR’s legacy while integrating aerodynamic enhancements for superior performance. These include reimagined flying buttresses, an optimised rear splitter, and a repositioned exhaust system. With a wider stance (1,975mm, up from 1,793mm) and larger

wheels - 18-inch fronts and 19-inch rears - the Supercat embodies modern performance while retaining the essence of the XJS.

The Supercat is the first production car from TWR, representing a new chapter in the company’s storied history. Just 88 examples will be built worldwide, a tribute to Tom Walkinshaw’s 1988 Le Mans victory with the XJR-9. Each vehicle is handcrafted at TWR’s state-of-the-art facility in Newbury, Berkshire, with extensive personalisation options available to buyers.

Priced from £225,000 (excluding taxes), the Supercat is available in right- or left-hand-drive configurations. A £35,000 deposit secures a build slot, with first deliveries expected by summer 2025. With orders already spanning the globe, only a limited number of slots remain. The TWR Supercat is more than a car; it’s a celebration of engineering, heritage, and passion, embodying the spirit of TWR’s golden era in motorsport.

HILUX

The Toyota Hilux GR Sport II takes the iconic Hilux to a new level of performance, comfort, and bold design. Arriving at retailers in late 2024, this latest iteration draws on Toyota’s legendary Dakar Rally success to set a new benchmark for the world’s most trusted pickup, which has been renowned for durability and reliability since its debut in 1968.

With its double cab design, the Hilux GR Sport II is a commanding presence on and off the road. It offers best-in-class towing capacity (3,500 kg) and a robust 1,000 kg payload, making it a versatile partner for any journey. Enhanced stability and handling come courtesy of a wider tread - 140mm at the front and 155mm at the rear - ensuring a confident drive even in challenging conditions.

Under the hood lies Toyota’s proven 2.8-litre turbocharged engine, delivering a potent 204 DIN hp (150 kW) and 500 Nm of torque, paired with a smooth six-speed automatic transmission. The upgraded suspension system and reduced roll angles offer precise steering and a composed ride, whether tackling rugged terrain or urban streets.

Optimised monotube shock absorbers replace the previous twintube system, providing improved damping and a faster response to uneven surfaces. Combined with enhanced aerodynamics, including a redesigned bumper and functional air curtain, the GR Sport II achieves greater efficiency and stability across all terrains.

The Hilux GR Sport II exudes strength and sophistication. Its aggressive stance is highlighted by red coil springs and monotube shocks - black at the front and red at the rear - framed by bold black over-fenders. Distinctive 17-inch black alloy wheels with red

brake calipers not only enhance its striking appearance but also reduce drag and weight for improved performance.

Premium exterior details, including a black G-mesh front grille adorned with the Toyota script, black sidesteps, mirrors, and door handles, plus a silver protective underguard and GR Sport badging, reinforce the vehicle’s rugged yet refined aesthetic.

Step inside the Hilux GR Sport II, and you’ll find a cabin designed for style, comfort, and practicality. A sleek black monochrome theme is accented by bold red elements, such as seatbelts and GR Sport logos, emphasizing its motorsport DNA.

Black suede and leather sport seats with silver stitching and perforated details provide a luxurious touch, while offering enhanced grip for spirited driving. Paddle shifters add a dynamic edge, and aluminium sport pedals complete the high-performance feel.

The Hilux GR Sport II features Toyota’s latest Smart Connect multimedia system, operated via an 8-inch touchscreen. With wireless Apple CarPlay® and wired Android Auto® connectivity, drivers can seamlessly integrate their devices. A cloud-based navigation system provides real-time traffic updates for efficient route planning, with

embedded navigation as a backup.

Over-the-air updates ensure the multimedia and safety systems stay current, eliminating the need for workshop visits. Features such as Toyota T-Mate and Safety Sense benefit from the same seamless upgrade process.

Toyota has further refined the Hilux’s legendary off-road prowess. A 20 mm increase in ride height, combined with improved approach angles (30° up from 29°) and advanced suspension, ensures confidence over rough terrain. Lighter 17-inch wheels fitted with all-terrain tires boost grip and stability, while upgraded brakes - 17-inch front discs and 15inch rear discs - provide precise stopping power.

Whether navigating mountain trails or cruising city streets, the Hilux GR Sport II delivers a smoother, more stable ride. Aerodynamic refinements like an air curtain structure and a sleek sports bar enhance performance and style. The result is a pickup designed to handle any challenge with ease and elegance.

The Toyota Hilux GR Sport II is more than a vehicle - it’s a testament to Toyota’s engineering excellence and adventurous spirit. Combining cutting-edge technology, refined design, and proven capability, it’s the ultimate expression of the Hilux legacy.

Austin-Healey

British sports car maker Austin-Healey - which was established back in 1952 as a joint venture between the Austin division of the British Motor Corporation and the Donald Healey Motor Company - crafted a small but mighty selection of renowned classics. The cars were produced up to 1972 until the 20-year agreement between Healey and Austin came to its conclusion.

During that time, three cars - which came to be known as the Big Healeys - were produced including the Austin-Healey 100-6. Announced in September 1956, the two-seat roadster was produced from this year until 1959. Taking over from its similarly named predecessor, the Austin-Healey 100, it would later be replaced itself by the Austin-Healey 3000 which completed the Big Healey trio.

The 100-6 featured an elongated wheelbase (2 inches longer than the 100), a more powerful engine, switching to a straight-six unit boasting higher power over the slightly larger

inline-four engine, and additional seating in the form of two occasional seats which were later made an optional feature.

Alterations to the car's aesthetics were also part of the update with more streamlined body lines, a smaller but wider radiator grille which was placed lower on the front end and additional air scoop produced a more athletic appearance building on the car's sporting appeal. The windscreen also became a fixed feature on the 100-6.

To distinguish between the 2+2 - available from 1956 onwards - and the two-seat option which was available from 1958-1959, the designations of BN4 and BN6 were used respectively.

Utilising the BMC C-Series engine previously found in the Austin Westminster, the Austin-Healey 100-6 initially boasted 102bhp from the tuned unit which was then increased in 1957 to 117bhp thanks to a revised manifold and cylinder head. The previously standard overdrive was also made optional.

This Austin Healey 100-6 BN4 example from 1957 is presented in striking red over black coachwork with a matching black interior finished with white piping. The look is completed with beautiful, classic wire wheels, a soft top and side screens. The car boasts a considerable service file which includes photographic evidence of a previous restoration. It has also just received a full engine rebuild, new clutch and complete brake overhaul to a total cost of £13,640.05 by specialists Crown Engineering and has covered just 100 miles since. This is a fantastic example that looks and drives as a well-sorted Austin-Healey should.

A fantastic example of a true British classic that will turn heads in whatever circle it finds itself.

LONDON PARKS

which demand the highest property price premiums?

Over the past few years, buyer priorities in London have shifted, with increasing value placed on living near beautiful green spaces and having access to public parks. From the countryside charm of Richmond Park and the elegance of St. James’s Park to the laid-back vibes of Blackheath and Clapham Commons, there’s a verdant corner of the capital to suit everyone.

Living near a park or common, in particular, has become increasingly sought after. Cory Askew, head of south west London parks region at Savills, details how for many, access to green space is now one of the main drivers prompting an onward move.

“The opportunity to live near a London park or common gives buyers the best of both worlds; access to the great outdoors and proximity to the capital. The homes lining these spaces are often among the area’s most sought-after due to the views and the lifestyle that living so close to greenery can provide.

“Our latest research showed that buyers are paying, on average, 15% more for properties within 100 meters of a park or common in Inner London - a figure that has risen by 6.3% over the last decade.

Which parks demand the highest premiums?

“Research revealed that the highest premiums for homes near parks can be achieved in Inner London locations, where homeowners are least likely to have a garden of their own. Properties near Grosvenor Square Gardens (Mayfair), Ranelagh Gardens (Chelsea), and Green Park (Mayfair/St. James’s) boast some of the steepest price premiums, with these areas seeing the most significant increases over the last ten years.

“On average, homes surrounding Inner London’s largest parks (over 500,000 m²) cost around £1.32 million - a premium of 18% for the privilege of being close to these green spaces. But while the post-Covid demand for outdoor space has underlined the value placed on living near one of London’s best parks, the beautiful properties surrounding them complete the appeal.”

The top ten

“Looking at London’s neighbourhoods, Westminster dominated the top ten list of parks and saw the biggest increase in their premiums, with Potters Fields in Southwark the only park in another borough to feature in the top five.

Outer London’s top parks

“In Outer London, premiums were typically lower (+4% near the largest parks), but parks such as Palewell Common (Richmond), Lloyd Park (Croydon), and Totteridge Green (Totteridge) still draw significant premiums. Regeneration efforts and new housing developments focused on green spaces have also shifted the dial in some areas. While buyers would have previously bought at a discounted rate to live within proximity of Hammersmith Park, today buyers pay a premium due to an influx of new high-value homes.

“Palewell Common and Hampton Court Park have seen the biggest uplift to their premiums - both located in Richmond upon Thames.”
