VEUVE CLICQUOT

12th May - 6th June 2023

Veuve Clicquot Announces London Opening of Solaire Culture, An Exhibition Celebrating 250 Years of the Iconic House. The successful global exhibition, Solaire Culture is heading to London, to take over Piccadilly Circus from 12th May - 6th June 2023.

Shining a light on Veuve Clicquot’s 250 years of history, and after debuting in Tokyo and Los Angeles in 2022, the exhibition takes visitors on an immersive journey, through the house’s heritage starting by celebrating Madame Clicquot, one of the world’s first female entrepreneurs who took over the reins of the house in 1805 to the modern-day champagne house that is bold and optimistic.

Through the lens of an audacious female-only team, Veuve Clicquot has established a dialogue between its legacy and the contemporary vision of the curator, Camille Morineau, and designer Constance Guisset to bring Solaire Culture to life, and features artists including the iconic Yayoi Kusama and the UK’s Cece Philips and Rosie McGuinness.

“This exhibition is an unprecedented event for Veuve Clicquot and the symbol of our capacity to dream big and constantly innovate. Now we travel to the United Kingdom, our third global destination, to bring the exhibition to life in London, a true melting pot of culture and creativity. We will highlight the House’s innovation and craft, the life of Madame Clicquot, our iconic Yellow label and the many works produced for Veuve Clicquot in the 20th century by artists such as Yayoi Kusama.” Jean-Marc Gallot,

Opening the doors to some of Veuve Clicquot’s most outstanding historical gems and highlights the story of the iconic yellow label created specifically for the British Champagne drinker. From a

portrait of Madame Clicquot reinterpreted by world-renowned artist Yayoi Kusama to 20 remarkable historical documents including a letter signed by Madame Clicquot and an original bottle of Veuve Clicquot from the 1840’s (an epic discovery in the Baltic Sea following a shipwreck), the exhibit dives into the cultural footprint of Veuve Clicquot, showcasing the creation of one of the most desired luxury Champagne brands in the world.

Since 1972, Veuve Clicquot has shown commitment to women and female entrepreneurs all over the world, even more notably through BOLD by Veuve Clicquot, an international program to increase women entrepreneurs’ visibility. To showcase Veuve Clicquot’s heritage of female entrepreneurship in a contemporary form, and as a tribute to founder Madame Clicquot, Curator Camille Morineau has brought 9 bold and renowned female artists together for the first time, including Yayoi Kusama, Sheila Hicks and manga artist Moyoco Anno. They were given carte blanche and delivered an original artwork inspired by Madame Clicquot and her inventions, or the emotional power of the sun, as a tribute to the House’s iconic Yellow label, copyrighted in 1877 and now the emblem of the House.

At the end of the tour, visitors will have the opportunity to take home souvenirs from the Solaire Culture exhibition or some of Veuve Clicquot’s collectible items. Additionally, after achieving cult popularity during its pop-up in Soho London in 2022, The Sunny Side Up Café will be returning, offering a delicious menu, curated in partnership with Andi Oliver, playfully drawing inspiration from Veuve Clicquot’s Yellow Label and Andi’s much-loved Caribbean family flavours.

CONCORSO D’ELEGANZA VILLA D’ESTE

LANGE & SÖHNE UNVEIL THE STUNNING ONE-OF-A-KIND PRIZE FOR THE TROFEO BMW GROUP “BEST IN SHOW” WINNER

The Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este is considered one of the world’s most exclusive events for rare historic vehicles. The international automobile competition, held annually on Lake Como, will take place from 19th to 21st May this year. A. Lange & Söhne has been involved as a partner since 2012 and will once again donate the “Best of Show” award.

At this prestigious and historically significant competition for historic automobiles and motorcycles, the nominated classics vie for the attention of the jury and the public for three days. This year, the event, jointly organised by BMW Group Classic and the Grand Hotel Villa d’Este, includes eight classes representing the entire spectrum of automotive history.

The fascination with fine automobiles and high-quality timepieces has long been a hobby of many. The unique atmosphere of the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este offers A. Lange & Söhne a worthy setting to present horological masterpieces. If one delves deeper, one will find that there are many parallels between mechanical timepieces and classic vehicles. A shared passion is reflected in the freedom of expression, the independence to forge

new paths and the determination to make the best use of time.

A particularly clear example of this is the manufacture calibre L951.5, which reflects the historical connection between motorsport and time measurement with its column-wheel control, a snail for the precisely jumping minute counter, and a refined flyback function. The manually wound movement, first presented in 2010, also drives the 1815 Chronograph in white gold, which has been specially created for the winner of the Trofeo BMW Group “Best of Show”. The hand-engraved Concorso coat of arms on the hinged cuvette makes the chronograph one-of-a-kind.

This pioneering spirit is a recurring theme throughout the history of A. Lange & Söhne. More than 175 years ago, the manufactory’s founder Ferdinand Adolph Lange realised his vision of making the remote town of Glashütte the centre of German fine watchmaking. His great-grandson, Walter Lange, continued this vision after the reunification of Germany by rebuilding the company of his ancestors and entering uncharted territories of watchmaking with traditional craftsmanship and innovative engineering skills.

VACHERON CONSTANTIN

Resplendent in Salmon

Beautifully crafted, the new Patrimony Retrograde Day-Date from Vacheron Constantin stuns in a striking salmon hue.

Inspired by special retrograde displays from the 1920s and 1930s, the minimalist and elegant design of the new Patrimony Retrograde day-date from Vacheron Constantin uses the in-house calibre 2460 R31R7/3, a manufacture self-winding movement in the purest tradition of Haute Horlogerie.

Understated and highlighted by the association between the platinum of the case and the salmon pink shade of the dial, a signature from the Maison, this limited annual production timepiece reveals meticulous attention to detail in which the expression of minimalism is combined with technical excellence.

The 42.5 mm-diameter 950 platinum case frames a salmoncoloured dial with a sunburst pattern reflecting the codes of the collection, while the purity of the design matches the model’s mechanical and aesthetic sophistication. Driven by in-house selfwinding calibre 2460 R31R7/3 operating at a rate of 28,800 vibrations per hour, it is fitted with a 22K gold open-worked oscillating weight with a design inspired by the Maltese cross emblem and has an approximately 40-hour power reserve.

In the grand tradition of in-house calibres, the bridges are

finished with hand-polished angles. Straight-graining, which consists of perfectly smoothing the component flanks, is also performed by hand, while the screws are meticulously polished. The mainplate is circular-grained on both sides, while the bridges are adorned on the back with the Côtes de Genève motif.

Every detail is designed to reflect the aesthetic characteristics of Vacheron Constantin. Beneath the 12 o’clock hour-marker sits a facetted Maltese cross in relief, the emblem of the Maison. Crafted in 18K 5N pink gold, it features facets that are sandblasted on one side and polished on the other, offering a new expression of the Vacheron Constantin symbol specific to this signature platinum case and salmon-coloured dial. The two retrograde (day and date) indications are made with blued steel hands in keeping with tradition, while the hours and minutes are displayed by 18K white gold hands. In classic 1950s style, the latter are subtly curved to match the shape of the domed dial with its intense reflections. The circular-grained peripheral minutes track is also inspired by this era in a revisited version. From the very first glance, this timepiece embodies the refined style cultivated by Vacheron Constantin. The development of coloured dials - from the 1930s onwards - enabled a new style of elegance to be displayed on the wrist. Featured in Vacheron Constantin watches since the 1940s, salmon-coloured dials make an ideal match with cases in white metal: particularly steel, notably with the legendary chronograph Reference 4178; as well as platinum, with which it forms a rare combination sought after by collectors and devotees of rare models.

The combination of platinum case and salmon-coloured dial was picked up in the 1990s, again in conjunction with complications, such as the classic chronograph Reference 47101 and the 1992 self-winding perpetual calendar chronograph Reference 49005.

This alliance between platinum and salmon is thus part of the Maison’s heritage and since 2022 has been the sign of a new aesthetic that can be found across its various collections in limited annual production.

PASTEL PANERAI

Urban and effortless, the new Luminor Due 38mm collection is Panerai’s pulse on the contemporary while continuously reinterpreting its storied origins of high-precision timepieces rooted in distinction, aesthetics, and function. The timepieces feature dials in modern pastel palettes - a first-ever for the Maison. Set in a 38mm steel case with a metal bracelet that reflects the design ethos of Panerai’s watchmaking, the collection’s appeal accompanies wearers for the everyday city living wardrobe.

The elegantly sophisticated sandwich dials filled with white Super-Luminova® that illuminates in green in the dark are shaded with double-finishing polish that transitions from a lighter top to a darker gradient at the bottom. Available in pastel light blue, green, and powdery pink, the dial marks the date at 3 o’clock and small seconds at 9 o’clock.

A subtle Panerai inscription finishes the quintessentially cosmopolitan look of the pastel dials, highlighting the all-new colors, used for the very first time in the history of Panerai.

Accompanying the 38mm polished steel case with a closed back is a metal bracelet inspired by Panerai’s distinctive crownprotection device, where each link of the bracelet bears the iconic semi-oval profile of the safety-lock system. Alternating between polished and brushed finishes, the curved links lend a refined finesse to the timepieces that are perfect additions to the dress watch wardrobe.

Featuring novel proportions - slimmer, lighter, sleeker - while retaining the mechanical rigor of its predecessors, the Luminor Due watches express urban Italian sophistication.

The automatic P.900 calibre powers the Luminor Due 38mm with a three-day power reserve. The Luminor Due Collection is part of a boutique exclusive program with availability of 500 pieces per dial shade, per year.

LEICA WATCH MONOCHROM EDITION
LEICA WATCH
THE DEPTH OF SIMPLICITY

The new Leica Watch Monochrom Edition takes its inspiration from the release of the latest Leica M11 Monochrom camera and honours the most fundamental principles of black and white photography: contrast and light. It takes a deep understanding of products, years of expertise, and perhaps the right amount of boldness to create something that is so understated and yet alive with detail. Remarkable tones and nuances stand out in a symphony of shadows and reflections rich with detail, revealing depth within simplicity and creating a harmony between two of Leica’s most outstanding products.

The distinctive design of the Leica ZM Monochrom Edition removes all colour and silver tones, except for the red dot, achieving a truly minimalist aesthetic. Beneath the anti-reflective and strongly curved sapphire crystal are the black rhodium-plated, diamond cut, sandblasted indices, and hands. The case is PVD-coated stainless steel (316L), and the dial, including its feet, is milled from a solid block of highstrength aluminium to reinforce its shock-resistance. Moreover, the Monochrom Edition watch strap is identical to the texture of the M11 Monochrom camera and made of thick, strong-grained, black calf leather and crafted using a cut-edge construction with hand-stitching to support the sturdy, yet refined look of the Leica ZM Monochrom Edition.

The Leica Watch collection consists of two models, both with the mechanical, hand-wound movement developed and produced in-house of the Leica ZM 1 and Leica ZM 2, which are now available in the new Monochrom Edition. Following the holistic view of the Leica product portfolio, the “ZM” in the watch collection name stands for “Zeitmesser”, which is the German descriptive word for an instrument that measures and displays time. Launched in February 2022, the Leica Watch Collection immediately became a valuable asset for Leica enthusiasts and watch lovers, with only a select number available for purchase in a few Leica Stores worldwide. Following this success, the ZM collection will now be expanded to include the Monochrom Edition and will soon be available in up to 25 Leica stores worldwide.

The Leica ZM is unique, even in a highly developed and competitive watch market. It’s different in a Leica way, with its own distinctive design language, paired with unconventional solutions to classic timekeeping functions. The patented push-crown, with a simple push, stops the movement from working, resets the seconds hand to zero and enables easy time-setting. The push-crown solves a function used by all watch brands in a completely original way, making the Leica ZM a typical Leica product, though not for taking pictures. The Leica ZM 2 has an additional feature as a GMT-watch (Greenwich Mean Time), which together with a day/night indicator allows the person wearing the watch to read two different time zones with a single set of hands.

For more than 150 years, Leica has been a brand known for bold steps, engineering excellence, and timeless design. The new Leica Watch Monochrom Edition represents everything the company stands for, following on from a long-standing tradition of functional design, fine mechanical craftsmanship, and commitment to exceptional quality resulting in extremely reliable and iconic products.

Leica ZM 1 Monochrom £9,900; and Leica ZM 2 Monochrom £13,300 from Leica. Available from 15th May at selected Leica stores worldwide.

CODE41

CODE41 has unveiled the T360 Creator Edition, a tourbillon watch created in close collaboration with its community over several months. Considered an often inaccessible Holy Grail of Fine Watchmaking, with the T360 CODE41 is offering as many people as possible the chance to acquire a tourbillon.

An unprecedented opportunity to slip a reliable, robust tourbillon of striking beauty on your wrist, this exceptional watch is suited to every situation and endowed with timeless prestige.

Coming in multiple configurations and available for pre-order from 3pm on April 19 2023 in very limited quantities (150 pieces available in the first batch), the brand’s first tourbillon watch has been named the T360 – in homage to the rotation that the tourbillon performs in its cage, namely 360 degrees every 60 seconds.

Fascinating and revolutionary, the T360 is an exceptional human project that bridges the gap between tradition and

innovation while paying homage to the remarkable expertise of the craftspeople at work behind this extraordinary adventure. Offered in the new Stratom case as well as the original NativeDNA case, the T360 offers an unprecedented degree of personalisation and technical specifications of the highest order. In sum, the very essence of CODE41: challenging, innovative and participatory watchmaking.

While the passage of time has sometimes proven itself merciless towards certain horological inventions which have long since faded into obscurity, the Tourbillon itself doesn’t look a day older. Designed and patented by Abraham-Louis Breguet in 1801 to counteract the effects of gravity which affected the regularity of the mechanical movements of the era, it arouses fascination in the hearts of watchmaking enthusiasts now more than ever.

At first sight, one thing is for sure: the beauty of the T360 and its tourbillon at 6 o’clock is showcased in an entirely skeleton design,

CODE41
T360 Creator Edition, Titanium NativeDNA Case with Leather Strap £9,590 from CODE41

without compromise, typical of CODE41’s models.

The design of the bridges and plate grant the T360 a perspective, depth and volume that result in a genuine mechanical sculpture. From the cogs to the bridges via the jewels and pinions, the whole movement and the parts of the tourbillon for the T360 have been imagined, developed, designed and assembled entirely in Switzerland.

Developed side by side with the T360 project over several months, the new grade 5 titanium Stratom case offers an urban, technical and timeless design, all while respecting CODE41’s stylistic DNA.

Inspired by the shape of a barrel, the Stratom breathes sportiness with its visible screws, and shows great technicality through its multi-level design. What’s more, its ergonomic design has been studied to fit perfectly snugly on the wrist.

The T360 is also available in the historic case, now named the NativeDNA, which has made CODE41’s collections a success since 2016 thanks to its iconic and elegant design. Like the Stratom, the NativeDNA case is made from grade 5 titanium for greater resistance and a weight half that of steel.

In addition to the choice of case, NativeDNA or Stratom, a multitude of bridge colours are on offer, as well as a vast selection of leather, rubber and titanium straps. In total, more than 200 combinations allow the T360 to be customised like no other CODE41 model to date.

A watch for an ever-more extraordinary daily life, adapting to every situation like a chameleon thanks to its interchangeable straps, the T360 tourbillon reveals its various personalities based on the mood and desires of its owner. Classic, sporty, elegant or dynamic - it’s up to each individual to decide.

CARRERA AT 6 0

For the 60th anniversary of its eternally modern TAG Heuer Carrera timepiece, TAG Heuer has introduced two exceptional new models inspired by the collector favourite “glassbox” design.

At Watches and Wonders Geneva 2023, TAG Heuer celebrated the 60th anniversary of a global icon: the TAG Heuer Carrera. For six decades, the Swiss watchmaker’s timeless model has defined performance watch design, racing spirit, and the culture of success.

Since its introduction in 1963, the TAG Heuer Carrera has become a symbol of aspiration, achievement, and good taste. Across six decades, it has appeared on the wrists of icons of coolfrom Mick Jagger to James Hunt to Ryan Gosling. Always the same stylish profile, backed by Swiss mechanics and refinement.

The story of the TAG Heuer Carrera has become legend. It began in the early 1960s when a young Jack Heuer, freshly installed as the company’s chief executive, went to 12 Hours of Sebring in Florida, a race timed by Heuer. There he met Mr. and Mrs. Rodriguez, whose young sons were already on the path to becoming successful racing drivers. They told him about a race in their home country of Mexico called the Carrera Panamericana, a furiously fast and extremely dangerous road race that ran on five occasions in the early 1950s before it was cancelled.

Jack, who had an uncommon knack for harnessing the power of a good story, was intrigued by the speed, emotion, and romance of the race, and decided that it would make a good name for one of his new lines of wristwatch chronographs.

Carrera was a word with multiple meanings and could be translated as “race,” “career,” or simply “path.” This, Jack decided, was the perfect name for a watch with a racing spirit aimed at a young, stylish, upwardly mobile generation in tune with the increasingly liberated tastes of the 1960s.

Jack was a production engineer with a specialty in electrical engineering, having studied at the prestigious Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich. He was culturally curious too, and had developed an interest in the work of Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer and the furniture designer Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, and had even saved up to buy an Eames lounge chair for his dorm room. In the work of these two icons, he saw a compelling marriage of modernism, function, beauty, and the ability to create a signature style. All this would be carried over into the watch designs that he oversaw - and into the Heuer Carrera.

In 1963, the Heuer Carrera made its debut. This was a carefully thought-out design and a clear expression of Jack’s philosophy. On the one hand, it was a tool, created to be useful and functional, so its design was clean and legible, without any extraneous elements that would distract the wearer’s eye. On the other, it was also modern and inventive. It was Jack’s idea, for example, to push the tachymeter scale onto the tension ring - an innovative device proprietary to the Carrera that was used to hold the crystal in place and protect the watch from dust and water.

The purity and simple effectiveness of the design also made tagheuer.com

TAG HEUER

it beautiful, so much so that across six decades, the TAG Heuer Carrera has become a perennial favourite among watch buyers and collectors, an industry icon, and an incredible success story.

For the brand's 60th anniversary, TAG Heuer proudly introduced two new models: the TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph and TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph Tourbillon, both of which promise to become keystone designs in the company’s collection of contemporary watches.

Measuring 39mm in diameter, the stainless steel case of the TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph has a universal quality, while the overall ergonomics have been honed and refined, making the watch as comfortable to wear as possible, even across a range of wrist sizes.

The case is topped with a sapphire crystal shaped liked the domed hesalite crystals found on Heuer Carrera models from the 1970s, only now, the crystal has been redeveloped so that the curve flows seamlessly over the tachymeter scale that runs around the dial edge and into the case. In the same way, the flange and indexes have been curved, too, further contributing to the watch’s seamless aesthetic, coherence, and legibility. In keeping with Jack’s original purpose for the watch, this development is more than aesthetic –it also means the tachymeter can be read from a wider range of angles.

Equally pronounced are the new pushers, which have been shaped and positioned to make them as efficient for the user as possible. At its heart, the TAG Heuer Carrera remains an extremely refined watch, designed for purpose and defined both by its function and its form.

At launch, there were two models: one with a signature blue dial on a blue calfskin leather strap, and a second with a racier, blackand-silver “reverse panda” dial, the nickname given to black watch dials with high-contrast white or silver subdials. The reverse panda model is a greatest hits compilation of some of the most coveted Heuer Carreras of the 1960s, such as the reference 3147 Dato 12, the first Heuer Carrera with chronograph and calendar functions, and the reference 2447 NS, perhaps the rarest Heuer Carrera of them all, with an extremely limited production run of just a few years. It comes on a black perforated calfskin leather strap.

Both new models continue the TAG Heuer Carrera’s legacy of cool with a fresh, highly memorable look. The Calibre Heuer 02 continues to evolve TAG Heuer’s in-house automatic chronograph caliber.

Named TH20-00 and visible through the watch’s sapphire crystal case back, the next-generation movement now features an oscillating weight offering bidirectional winding, whereas previous versions only charged the movement’s mainspring if the rotor moved in a counter-clockwise direction.

This evolution, overseen by TAG Heuer’s Movements Director Carole Forestier, is more significant than it may initially appear. In daily use, it delivers faster and more reliable winding, ensuring the watch is running closer to its maximum 80-hour power reserve and improving precision for more of the time it is in use. TH20-00 also has elevated finishings, thereby conforming to TAG Heuer’s vision to create technical yet elegant watches and movements. It joins the TAG Heuer TH30-00 and TH50-00 calibers in the new series of movements.

The two watches offer two expressions of the same evergreen philosophy. The blue model is inspired by modernity, whereas the black-and-silver model picks up more strongly on the TAG Heuer

Carrera’s racing pedigree. Subtle differences in the application of the subdial scales help achieve this, as does the position of the date: at 6 o’clock on the blue, and pushed up to 12 o’clock on the black-and-silver model to make the chronograph readout as clean as possible.

TAG Heuer’s designers worked to balance brushed and polished surfaces next to one another, so that the watch’s visual impact is both velvety and assured. At the same time, carefully applied finishes to those angled edges mean they feel smooth to the touch. The effect is startling: An ergonomic yet strident design that is precise yet refined, technical yet elegant. Jack’s vision continued.

TAG Heuer is so confident in the advanced mechanics behind these watches that it is offering a five-year warranty on both new models.

The brand is also delighted to announce the TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph Tourbillon. This elegant new model serves as a sister watch to a collection of previously introduced TAG Heuer Carrera tourbillon pieces with larger, sportier case designs.

The new watch follows the same design principles and shares a base form with the new TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph, only it has a dial elevated by an aperture at 6 o’clock that reveals a tourbillon cage.

Powered by TAG Heuer’s in-house tourbillon movement, the TH20-09. The chronometer-certified automatic movement also has a chronograph function and is backed by a 65-hour power reserve.

Every element of the watch has been refined to reflect the mechanical beauty of the tourbillon. For example, thanks to the new TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph Tourbillon’s curved sapphire crystal and fluid form, the tourbillon’s beauty can now be observed from a wider range of angles. And, on the dial, the flange and indexes have been subtly curved to mirror and complement the crystal’s edge, enhancing the watch’s elegant feel.

ARANCIA LA SPUGNATURA

ACQUA DI PARMA acquadiparma.com
Sicilian Citrus
Sicilian Citrus ARANCIA LA SPUGNATURA

Joining the vibrant sensorial journey across the most spectacular destinations of the Italian coast, Acqua di Parma's latest addition to the exhilarating Blu Mediterraneo collection arrives in a beautifully fitting fashion. The new Limited Edition fragrance fit for the Summer is Arancia La Spugnatura.

Utilising an ancient and exquisite artisanal extraction technique to elicit the rare and precious citrus essence, La Spugnatura delivers the heart of a vivacious and multi-faceted composition. Traditionally used only to obtain the most precious essence from the bergamot fruit, La Spugnatura is an antique extraction method practiced by just a few artisans in Italy. True to the Maison's DNA of being inspired by its heritage to create contemporary interpretations, Acqua di Parma has explored and engaged with the age-old technique on a different citrus fruit, Arancia Vaniglia, to craft the new limited edition scent. The starring fruit of ‘the city of oranges’ Ribera in Sicily, the Arancia Vaniglia name alludes to the perfect olfactive oxymoron where its contrasting olfactory properties intersect the freshness of oranges with the alluring softness of vanilla. A bittersweet symphony that unfolds a surprising olfactive experience.

Arancia la Spugnatura is the maximum expression of this distinctive ingredient in all its depth and richness. Joyful, luminous, and embracing, it’s a fragrance that splendidly surprises like the glorious rays of the Italian sun. The initial burst of citrus notes brings contrasts, as does the Arancia Vaniglia, which combines the freshness typical of citrus fruits with a degree of softness and roundness; a contrast which is also found in the yellow mandarin versus the bitter almond, which adds a bittersweet touch. Finally, black pepper adds a touch of texture and brilliance. Created by master perfumer François Demachy, the composition is an equilibrium of contrasts.

A project long nurtured by the Maison, which has always worked to preserve the oldest and most valuable artisanal processes, it is at home in Italy where very few artisans in the world still practice the ancient sponging technique. A fascinating traditional expertise, which sees an entirely manual extraction of the citrus essence. A true art that requires time and skillful, precise, delicate gestures. The artisan cuts each fruit in two equal halves with a well-sharpened knife. Then, using a utensil in the shape of a spoon named “cavatore,” he separates the skin from the pulp. Immediately after, the orange rinds are manually pressed on sea sponges, which absorb all the essence. In the final phase, the artisan squeezes the sponges full of essential oil with precise movements into a terracotta container to collect the rich citrus elixir. The limited production capacity that depends entirely on manual processes gives rise to the ingredient’s scarcity. Only 300g of essence is extracted from approximately 100kg of fruit, and two artisans can work through a volume equaling 300kgs of fruits in a day. Subsequently, the supply chain uses all other components of the orange fruit for various purposes without generating any waste. The sponge, malleable and soft when in contact with the rind, preserves all the facets of the fruit and it is this unique sillage that distinguishes the elixir that gives life to Arancia La

Spugnatura.

The porcelain represents the most special category within the ceramic family. An excellent piece of artisanship that is distinctive for its intense blue colour embodying the Blu Mediterraneo collection. The long process starts with the production of the plaster mould, in which the porcelain mix is manually poured to create its iconic Art Déco form. The mould is rotated several times on its axis to ensure that the mixture adheres to the sides and is then turned upside down to unload any extra mix. Then, the bottle is left to dry for 30-40 minutes before being removed from the mould in a solid form. The artisan then refines the individual bottles, removing any minimal imperfections to obtain an even surface that is smooth to the touch. It is then dipped into a glaze bath and placed to bake in an oven for 8 hours, during which the bottle takes on a deeper blue tone that is highlighted by a shiny finish. For the final touch, the bottle is hand-embellished with white, burnished orange, and golden motifs inspired by the ingredients of the perfume before being baked for a second time to set the décor. Capped off with a blue porcelain lid, the bottle has a neck that is made from a unique grinding technique developed specifically for Acqua di Parma and is fitted with a removable screw top pump. The label on the bottle is made from scrap powder from marble quarries while the iconic cylindrical box is made from FSC-certified paper set in a special blue tone to match the porcelain bottle.

Mirabeau Pure

Maison Mirabeau has unveiled a new bottle design for its flagship Mirabeau Pure rosé, drawing inspiration from carefree moments spent on the beautiful beaches of the Côte d’Azur.

Ideal for summer events and celebrations, the elegant, undulating design imitates the ripples of the Mediterranean and was conceived by Maison Mirabeau co-founder Jeany Cronk.

Jeany spent over two years developing the new Mirabeau Pure bottle, which was brought to life in partnership with James Gulliford of Launch Design and Mirabeau’s primary glass partner Saver - a world specialist in the manufacture of high-end bottles.

Jeany said, “Beautiful bottles are very much part of the Mirabeau experience. Having designed the unique, awardwinning bottle for our Dry Rosé Gin and seen the joy it brought to people, I was determined to do the same for our iconic ultra-pale rosé, Mirabeau Pure. The captivating bottle seeks to transport our customers to the beaches of the Med and does justice to the quality of one of our best-loved rosés. Watching the new bottle filled with our new vintage rosé for the first time was a very special moment.”

The new design has already won a coveted Design Masters Medal from The Drinks Business and is the latest example of the brand channelling its creative eye for design into capturing the distinct identities of its cuvées. In line with Maison Mirabeau’s sustainable mindset, the bottle was also purposefully designed to be reused.

Mirabeau Pure is available to buy in Waitrose from 10th May.

ARCADE SPRING/SUMMER LINE-UP

Arcade Centre Point is welcoming the warmer months with a brand new line-up of food and events.

Get ready to enjoy a jam-packed Pride Month calendar, a new offering from plant-based pioneers, Palm Greens and live screenings of Eurovision.

Inspired by the concept of classic Arcadian landscapes, the new terrace is a peaceful hideaway for those looking to shelter from the hustle of Oxford Street. The terrace is enclosed in greenery, and sees a new menu of five signature Chase Distillery cocktails, along with specially created collaborative dishes from their existing kitchens and new opening Palm Greens.

Diners are invited to sit in the tranquil surroundings and enjoy dishes such as Shawarma Taco, a collaboration from Shatta and Toum and Mexa, and Lamb Belly Choila Hummus from Shatta and Toum, this time in collaboration with Tipan Tapan. From Manna, new dish The Hawaiian makes its debut for the terrace menu, with a pineapple mustard and fried chicken in a signature steamed brioche bun.

Available to order to the terrace, and throughout the main hall, comes a new opening from plant-based pioneers, Palm Greens. In residency at Arcade for a Summer pop up, Palm Greens will serve up their signature fresh and flavour-forward dishes such as the Kale Caesar; dark leafy greens, quinoa and butter beans with a cashew Caesar dressing, Green Goddess Noodles; a nutrient rich bowl of sweet potato noodles and miso green goddess dressing, and the Mexican Tostada; with black beans, quinoa, a crunchy tostada, a chipotle crema, and guajillo oil. Fresh off the back of their smash hit quarterly supper clubs, founders Kali and Memby will be offering salads and more throughout the warmer months.

As Eurovision 2023 rolls ever closer, diners can channel

their inner Graham Norton as Arcade screen each round of the competition from Tuesday 9th to Saturday 13th May. Hosted by drag performer Karla Bear on the day of the final, guests are invited to keep score and rank each performance, with the closest winning a £100 Arcade gift card. Party drinks will flow throughout the night, with sharing cocktails, beer towers and shots in true Arcade style.

Come June, Arcade will pay homage to the very origins of Pride with Arcade’s Pride Riot, a month-long celebration of Pride, spotlighting LGBTQ+ history and culture. With a packed schedule throughout the month, Arcade will welcome headline DJs, and create a limited edition Pride cocktail menu that draws influence from Polari, a secret language used between gay men throughout the 19th and 20th centuries. A number of informative, educational events and pop-ups in collaboration with Polari Press will be held throughout June, from queer author live readings, to a queer library stocked with books by LGBTQ+ authors for guests and diners to take, read and pass on.

Arcade will also be fundraising for The Mosaic Trust, a London charity aiming to support, educate and inspire LGBTQ+ young persons and those around them. A portion of all proceeds from the Pride cocktail menu will be donated, and throughout the main hall guests are invited to give via optional donation points posted around the Pool Room.

Culminating on 1st July with an all-out party extravaganza and a Drag Lunch with bottomless booze for £30pp, plus DJs late into the night, June at Arcade will make the Food Hall one of London’s hottest spots to celebrate all things Pride. Reserve a table online now.

INGREDIENTS for four people

CURED AND STEAMED COD

600g Cod Loin | 250g Maldon Sea Salt

2 Lemons | 2 Lime | 1 Orange

Micro plane the zest from all of the citrus fruit into a mixing bowl. Mix in the Maldon sea salt and stir well. Remove the skin and pin bone the cod loin and split the salt mix evenly into two. Sprinkle one-half of the salt mix evenly onto a tray then place the cod loin on top and cover with the remaining salt mix. Leave to cure for 45 minutes before thoroughly washing off the salt in ice water. Dry well and reserve for service.

Steamed Cod with Smoked Potato, Pickled Cucumber and Butter Sauce

Adam Smith is considered one of the UK’s most talented executive chefs with a reputation for accomplished, classically based cooking with modern presentation. Adam was awarded a Michelin star in 2018 at Restaurant Coworth Park, which he has maintained ever since and carried over to Woven at Coworth Park which won its own Michelin star just six months after opening. Adam’s cooking style focuses on championing seasonal, local produce, creating classic dishes with a contemporary twist.

SMOKED POTATO PUREE

500g Ratte Potatoes | 350g Smoked Butter | 150ml Milk

Place the potatoes into a saucepan and cover with cold water and season well with salt. Simmer until well cooked. While the potatoes are still hot peel the skin and pass through a fine drum sieve. Return the passed potatoes to a clean saucepan and slowly add the diced smoked butter and incarcerate with a wooden spoon.

The potatoes will absorb most of the butter and then it will start to split, don’t worry this is what we want. Once all of the butter has been added continue with the cold milk, you will see the mix come back together to a rich smooth potato puree. Reserve for service.

PICKLED CUCUMBER

1 Whole Cucumber | 300g Apple Juice | 30g Dill

25ml White Balsamic Vinegar | 5g Chardonnay Vinegar | 5g Salt

Peel and thinly slice half the cucumber and cut the other half into a 3mm dice. Roughly chop the dill and add to a food processor with the apple juice, both vinegars and salt. Blend as quick as possible until smooth then pass the mix through a fine sieve. In separate containers cover the two different cuts of cucumber in the pickle and if possible vacuum pack, if not then just leave covered in the fridge for at least 3 hours.

BUTTER SAUCE

100g Finely Sliced Shallot | 5 Black Peppercorns | 1g Tarragon

1g Dill | 400ml White Wine | 2g Maldon Salt | 120g double cream

250g butter | 20g chopped dill | 20g chopped chives

Reduce the first 200ml of white wine with the shallot, peppercorns, herbs and salt. Once the liquid is reduced to a syrup, add the next 100ml of white wine and then once this reduces to nothing, add the final 100ml of white wine. Reduce by half, pass through a fine chinois, squeezing out all of the liquid in to a clean pan. Add the cream to the reduction, bring to the boil and start to whisk in the diced cold butter. Keep going until all of the butter is emulsified and the sauce is at the desired consistency. Reserve for service.

Place the cod into a suitable sized bamboo steamer basket ensuring there is even space around each piece and they are not touching, cover with the lid. Fill a saucepan one third with water and place on the heat until boiling, put the steamer basket over the pan and simmer for 8-12 minutes. Use a cocktail stick to check that the fish is cooked, there should be no resistance when pushing it through.

Into your serving bowls pipe the hot smoked potato. Drain the sliced cucumber and cover the potato with it. Place the cod alongside. Drain the diced cucumber. Warm your butter sauce ensuring to do this slowly and continuously stirring so that it doesn’t split. Once the sauce is hot, add in the diced cucumber, chopped dill and chopped chives. If its extra special you can even add a little caviar to the sauce.

Garnish the cucumber with picked herbs like sea purslane, bronze fennel, and chervil. Pour the sauce over the fish and serve.

CHAMPAGNE The British and Royal Connection

The British Royal family has marked countless milestones with Champagne as the ultimate drink of celebration, and May 2023 marks a significant moment in British history with the Coronation of King Charles III and The Queen Consort. To mark this special moment in Britain’s history, the Champagne Bureau UK is celebrating the relationship that Champagne has had with Britain over the last three centuries. When Queen Victoria’s daughter, Princess Victoria, married Prince Frederick of Prussia in 1858, Champagne was served at the reception. Additionally, guests enjoyed Champagne at The Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II, which she is believed to have enjoyed as a nightcap throughout her life.

The history of Champagne in the British royal family began in the 17th Century when King Charles II tasted the sparkling wine during a visit to France. However, it wasn’t until the 19th Century that Queen Victoria truly solidified the relationship between the British royal family and Champagne. In 1868, she had a representative write to a Champagne brand asking them to send 100 bottles to the British embassy in Paris. The shipment, he noted, must contain the same Champagne as an earlier one the Queen had enjoyed, which was “consumed with great pleasure by her Majesty and the members of her retinue.” Not long after, he thanked the Champagne brand, noting: “I assure you that the wine was served at the Queen’s table every day.”

To find out more about Champagne visit champagne.fr or enrol at champagne-mooc.com

COMITÉ CHAMPAGNE

The British Royal family has continued to play a role in the promotion and consumption of Champagne, with Queen Victoria the first British monarch to issue royal warrants to Champagne producers. While various forms of officially recognizing purveyors to the court date to the 12th century, the Royal Warrant system that is still in use today originated with George IV, who reigned from 1820-1830. A recognisable connection between the British Royal Family and Champagne is the tradition of christening ships with a bottle of Champagne, a practice that began during Queen Victoria’s reign. This tradition continues to this day, with the most recent example being the christening of the HMS Prince of Wales by The Queen Consort in 2019.

Winston Churchill was known for his fondness of Champagne. As his daughter, Mary Soames, once said, “I saw him many times the better for it, but never the worse.” Churchill liked older vintages of Champagne, and, because he drank it with food, favoured a robust style with Pinot Noir grapes. Throughout the 20th century, Champagne continued to be a popular choice among Britons for celebrations and special occasions. Even during times of hardship such as the Second World War, Champagne remained a symbol of hope and resilience. Many cellars in fact were used as shelters and today bear the marks of messages graffitied on the walls. As Winston Churchill said on the eve of the First World War, “Remember gentlemen, it’s not just France we are fighting for, it’s Champagne!”.

PETROSSIAN

A CENTURY OF SOPHISTICATION

Founded in Paris in 1920, by brothers Melkoum and Mouchegh who moved to France and set up business distributing caviar from sturgeons found in the bountiful Caspain Sea, Petrossian caviar has always stood for excellence. Now, purveyors of the finest French food and drink, they have recently opened their first UK Deli and Caviar Café in London’s South Kensington making it easier for lovers of the finest caviar, smoked salmon, truffle, taramasalata and much more, even more accessible.

This intimate café has just 16 covers and serves hot dishes from 11.30am-3pm, and cold dishes and deli plates until 7pm, accompanied by a range of fine wines, champagne and vodka. Although vodka is the quintessential pairing for caviar, a crisp, dry champagne or white wine are great alternatives. A curated menu of Petrossian delicacies and cult recipes includes an Organic Soft-Boiled Egg served with Ossetra caviar, Oven Baked Potato with Caviar, a selection of Petrossian’s famous Taramas, Truffle Tartine, a wide range of Smoked Salmon and the famous Petrossian Croque, served with caviar, truffle or pata negra. The deli counter offers the chance to sample products, with smoked salmon sliced in front of the customer and tarama made on site.

This is the first permanent UK location of the beloved Parisian institution and occupies the street-level space at 6 Fulham Road right opposite the iconic Michelin building. The aesthetic echoes the beautiful teal-blue exterior of the original Paris boutique.

What makes Petrossian caviar so special is the way the sturgeon is allowed to age, giving the caviar a fuller, more robust flavour. Working with specialists at the world’s finest caviar refineries which must meet

strict criteria including water quality and flow in the ponds, feed and general environment, the roe undergoes a specific salting process which gives the caviar beads the delicate salt taste it is known for.

The grading and maturation period after the caviar is produced is anything between 3 and 12 months before the product is put on sale and this is when it reaches its full aromatic potential. All Petrossian caviar follows the same process where the fish are raised for several years (twenty to twenty-five for the Beluga sturgeon) before the eggs are harvested and then matured.

Petrossian is still a family-owned business celebrating a way of life based on authenticity and excellence and their luxurious caviar is enjoyed across the globe. Petrossian became the first major distributor to work with sturgeon farms, providing gourmet sustainable options with a taste that holds a place on the mantle alongside beluga, sevruga and ossetra caviars. Petrossian’s boutiques and restaurants have spread from the historic first location on Boulevard de Latour-Maubourg in Paris to New York, Brussels, Las Vegas and West Hollywood.

The Deli at South Kensington has everything you need to stock up for the perfect picnic fayre, to enjoy with friends and family in the sunshine this coming Spring/Summer or shop online for next day delivery.

Continuing the rich history of the undeniably iconic flat-six engine, the latest all-wheel drive 911 Carrera 4 GTS boasts the turbocharged 3.0-litre unit with 480 PS - over 30 PS more than the predecessor and current Carrera S - and maximum torque of 570 Nm - an increase of 20 Nm over the outgoing model. What this means for the sprightly sportscar is a zero-to-sixty-two time of just 3.3 seconds when paired with the lightning fast and silky smooth eight-speed Porsche dual clutch transmission (PDK), shaving three tenths off its predecessors sprint. A top speed just shy of the heralded 200mph mark makes for a suitably swift roadgoing machine.

A seven-speed manual gearbox option is available on all GTS variants with a particularly short-shifting action should you wish to be a little more engaging with your driving experience, just don't expect those shifts at full acceleration to provide quite the same level of comfort.

The chassis for the 911 GTS has been derived from the 911 Turbo - so it's in pretty good company already - which has been specifically modified to accommodate the performance demands that those three letters entail.

Standard Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) allows the cars shock absorbers to respond to dynamic changes on the road at lightning speed. In this coupé guise, it is combined as standard with the sports chassis, which is also lowered by 10 millimetres. The addition of helper springs at the rear is a concept also derived from the Turbo models, with the main springs being under tension in all driving conditions.

stiffness in the chassis and rapidly responding suspension adapting to every situation you put it in...within reason.

With increased power comes increased responsibility and as you would expect, the engineers at Porsche are fully aware or the consequences should they fit standard brakes to a vehicle of this calibre. As a result, the big sister steps in once again to provide the high-performance braking system found on the Turbo to match its increased performance.

Housing such an impressive brake array requires some equally substantial wheels, so Porsche opted to take the 20-inch (front) and 21-inch (rear) centre-lock alloy wheels from the 911 Turbo S and deliver them in a striking black finish. Thanks to some clever GTSspecific tuning, the standard sports exhaust system, together with the omission of part of the interior noise insulation, ensures an even more emotive sound experience than your 'run-of-the-mill' 911.

For those not impressed enough with the regular engineering witchery, you can further improve the driving dynamics of your 911 GTS by adding (or more accurately, taking away) the lightweight package which is available for the first time on the GTS. You can achieve weight savings of up to 25kg thanks to lightweight full

bucket seats made of carbon fibre-reinforced plastic (CFRP), lightweight glass on the front, door and rear windows, and a lightweight battery. The rear seats are also omitted to complete the sporty style inside and out. Other performance optimisations available include rear-axle steering as standard when you opt for the lightweight package, along with additional aerodynamic finishing touches. New air guide elements in the front section of the underbody reduce lift at the front and the programming of the adaptive rear spoiler has been adjusted accordingly.

From the outside, the typical features of a 911 GTS remain with multiple black or darkened exterior details highlighting the cars provenance including the very apparent flairs highlighting the rear wheel arches. Elements painted in satin black also include the lip of the front spoiler, the centre-lock alloy wheels, the GTS lettering on the doors and rear, and the slats of the rear lid grille. The two tailpipes of the sports exhaust system are also black chrome-plated while an optional exterior package is available that completes the look with highgloss black body details and other features.

Some of the standard features you'll find as part of the GTS model includes the Sport Design package which will provide you with the distinctive aesthetic at both the front and rear of the car as well as darkened

headlight surrounds and daytime running light edging supporting the LED lights featuring the Porsche Dynamic Light System Plus which are also standard. You can also enjoy a distinctive light show from the rear with a variation on other models.

These subtly aggressive hints give variation from the regular Carrera line up, while maintaining a level of sophistication you come to expect from the Carrera models.

Inside the theme continues, possibly with a little more vigour. The sporty details of the GTS models are evident both with regard to functions as well as visually once inside. The gear lever of that optional seven-speed manual transmission has been shortened by 10mm, enabling fast gear shifts with just a flick of the wrist. While a GT sports steering wheel, as well as the Sport Chrono package with mode switch, Porsche Track Precision App and a tyre temperature display are all standard features allowing you to take to the track at any given moment to see what your new GTS can really do.

The standard four-way electrically adjusted Sports Seats Plus provide lateral support without compromising comfort and convenience like some race buckets can, and the interior insulation has been reduced to enhance the driving experience and that invigorating engine sound.

Numerous black Race-Tex features underscore the elegant dynamic ambience with the seat centres, steering wheel rim, doorhandles and armrests, storage compartment lid and gear lever all covered in the microfibre material. With the GTS interior package, the decorative stitching can be either Carmine Red or Crayon giving the seatbelts, embroidered GTS lettering on the headrests, and the dials of the rev counter and Sport Chrono clock the respective contrasting colour.

It features the new generation of Porsche Communication Management (PCM) with additional functions and a significantly simplified operation. The touch areas in the media menu have been enlarged, and the tiles on the home screen can now be rearranged to suit you. An improved voice assistant recognises everyday speech and can be activated by saying “Hey Porsche” to make things even easier.

The 911 Carrera 4 GTS Coupé manages to perfectly bridge the two persona’s of 911, the sleek, smooth and comfortable Carrera and aggressive, poised sporting nature of the Turbo and GT3 models giving you an all-in-one option should you be questioning what it is you want your 911 for. The ideal everyday car with that little extra under the bonnet to enjoy equally as much as a weekend toy.

AC COBRA

Dax Cars, the British sports car manufacturer was established back in 1968 and became the first British company to create a kitbased replica of the iconic AC 427 Cobra - which was only ever produced between '65 and '67. Bringing the beautiful silhouette of this stand-out automobile to 'the general public', this kit car revolution allowed owners to experiment with a number of engines and under body mechanics.

This right-hand drive 1975 AC Cobra Dax Reproduction is a historic registered vehicle finished with silver coachwork, and of course, an obligatory contrast red racing stripe. A red leather interior and new red carpets completes the aesthetic on this fine example.

Under the bonnet sits a potent Jaguar E Type V12 engine with

six twin downdraft carburettors, a manual four-speed transmission with overdrive, strengthened chassis to cope with the additional power and visually and audibly enjoyable side pipes. There are numerous invoices indicated no expense has been spared in maintaining this American styled icon.

Perfectly timed for the warmer weather, the soft-top configuration - along with additional side screens - make this the ideal weekend car to soak up the sun while winding around country lanes or cruising along coastal roads. Whatever your plans for this car, one thing's for sure; you won't see many in this condition available for purchase, certainly not from as early as 1975.

This is one not to be missed and is a must see to fully appreciate its style and beauty.

The soaring demand for outdoor space which emerged during the pandemic continues to shape buyer choices. Demand for homes with larger gardens and outside space has increased significantly over the past three years meaning these homes command higher premiums than ever before. The value of homes with large gardens in London up to 36% higher than those with no outside space, on a £/sq ft basis according to our latest prime index. And so, it makes sense to invest in your garden and even a small outside space can be transformed into a tranquil oasis.

The warmer months are when our gardens really come alive, and therefore offer the perfect extension to our interiors becoming a space to sit back and relax or entertain family and friends on a warm summers evening.

Here are a few top tips to create the ultimate summer garden:

Planting:

A summer garden should combine colour and interest as well as creating pockets of shade where possible. Using a mixture of evergreen and perennial plants, as well as annuals and biennials will help your garden look put together and attractive year round as the seasons go by. For those fortunate enough to have a larger garden, these can be planted directly in garden boarders, but also in pots if you have a courtyard or balcony. Pots are also a fantastic option if you are renting. Small tress, climbers and bamboos can provide living green walls and are ideal for those wanting a little more privacy, while larger trees create enviable dappled shade.

Edible gardens are also on the rise, so if you want to

try your hand at creating a garden that you can get back from, try planting herbs in small pots that you can use to spruce up a dish. Vegetables like potatoes or carrots can easily be grown in buckets while strawberries thrive grown in hanging baskets or window boxes.

Kitchens:

Al fresco dining is also a big tick in any garden during the summer months, especially for entertaining. BBQ’s, pizza ovens and wood-fired grills are great garden additions, especially when incorporated into a more permanent kitchen setting. Having a sink or even a wine cooler will save hosts dashing inside allowing interrupted time to be spent with family and friends. When paired with a pergola or a parasol and rustic garden furniture an outside kitchen can totally transform you away from the city to somewhere further afield. Fire pits and fire chimneys are also ideal for smaller spaces and help create a nice focal point.

Patios:

A smart decking or paved area accessorised with premium teak furniture or a smart bistro set will add a good deal of appeal to a garden. Having a hard surface will not only keep your feet clean and dry, it provides a level surface for your garden furniture to sit

on, stopping them from wobbling. Accessorising your patio with festoon lights will create a cosy atmosphere, as will outdoor rugs, cushions and blankets, while potted plants will help bring scents, texture and colour to a space. A wide parasol will look lovely in a courtyard while a wisteria-clad pergola will provide the wow-factor over a larger patio.

Grass:

A well-manicured and maintained lawn will help your garden look the part this summer. Keeping on top of any ‘bald patches’ and weeding will keep your garden looking neat and tidy as well as making a good first impression. For properties that have a paved courtyard or a small concrete balcony, artificial turf is a sure way to inject some greenery into a space. Although best to check with a landlord if you’re renting, this splash of colour can help draw the eye from your interior to the exterior of your home, plus it’s evergreen and you won’t require a lawnmower.

Pools:

Pools are a little “horses for courses” but can be a good selling point for larger houses. They can take up a fair amount of space and so the ones that I have seen often have covers or boards placed over them to make space for parties and entertaining.

Garden accessories:

Big or small, our gardens can be accessorised to reflect our individual personalities. Hammocks can be a great addition to a garden of any size and can be put up even in courtyard gardens, creating a relaxing nook and an ideal spot to enjoy the sun or some dappled shade. Mirrors are also a great way to create the illusion of extra space by ‘doubling up’ your garden. They can also draw in and reflect light into a space, ideal for city balconies.
