NOBU, CHILLED
Nobu Hotels are rooted in creating memories around the enjoyment of exceptional food and for over 25 years, pioneering Chef Nobu Matsuhisa has delighted countless palettes with his New-Style Japanese cuisine. Influenced by his years of studying in Tokyo and his extensive travels, his diverse celebration of flavours formed Nobu’s trademark ‘Nobu Style’ which is intrinsic to all Nobu menus worldwide.
The Nobu dining experience is at the heart of their hotels and Nobu Hotel London Portman Square has recently honoured its Japanese roots by launching Chilled Sundays - a new sushisharing dining concept designed with friends and families in mind. Accompanied by backdrop beats from live vinyl DJ sets every Sunday from 12.30pm to 5pm, the curated selection of vinyls includes a collection chosen by Nobu Hotels’ founders - Robert De Niro, Nobu Matsuhisa and Meir Teper and are usually only found in the hotel’s two-bedroom penthouse.
Located in the chic Marylebone area, guests can delight all their senses in the exquisite Japanese restaurant and sample Nobu’s world-renowned signature dishes - such as Rock Shrimp Tempura, Miso Black Cod and Yellowtail Sashimi with thinly sliced jalapeño peppers - as well as offerings unique to Nobu Hotel London Portman Square, including locally-inspired dishes and exclusive sakes.
The sharing platters feature a delectable spread of Nobu’s renowned Yellowtail Jalapeño on a skewer, White Fish Tiradito,
Crispy Rice with Spicy Tuna alongside Seabass and Tuna Nigiri and Spicy Yellowtail Roll, with a vegetarian option also available. Guests can choose a cocktail, or mocktail, to accompany their meal from the new cocktail menu at Nobu Bar inspired by Nobu Matsuhisa’s global travels, led by Sophie Bratt, recently appointed as Bar Manager. The menu features innovate creations and flavour pairings including a sharing version of the ‘Kokoro’ cocktailinspired by the Japanese saying that explains the feeling of heart, soul and spirit in harmony and features a blend of Awamori, Blanco Tequila, Sakura Sake, Hibiscus Flower and Japanese Jasmine Tea Kombucha.
For mains, a choice of rice bowls is available with a mix of different toppings including Pan Fried Seabass with a Japanese Shiso Dressing; Beef, Poussin or Mushroom Toban Yaki, served on sizzling hot plates or Tofu Steak with a Teriyaki or Anticucho Sauce. To finish, guests can enjoy a dessert platter featuring the Portman Square Cheesecake; Macana - with its layers of mango cream, pistachio charged sponge, citrus kalamanzi sorbet and a white chocolate mousse or a Whisky Cappuccino – Nobu’s take on a coffee brulee with a cocao crunch, milk ice cream and Suntory whisky foam.
Chilled Sundays at Nobu Hotel London Portman Square are priced at £80pp and include three courses and a cocktail or mocktail. Further programming and DJs are to be announced throughout the year.
