COCO CRUSH

Long before the founding of her Maison, a young Gabrielle Chanel happened upon the art of quilting on the blankets of her lover Etienne Balsan’s horses and on the jackets of the stable hands back in 1906. Fascinated by the graphic and generous motif, she chose to adopt it into her interior decoration and fashion creations in the 1920s.

It wasn’t until 2015 that the quilted design was revealed in its most precious and innovative form when Chanel materialised it in gold and unveiled Coco Crush - a streamlined jewellery collection that adapts to every occasion. It is collection for independent women who acquire its creations to celebrate special milestones and encounters, just as Gabrielle Chanel did to mark her life as a free and modern designer.

On the gold’s surface, the pattern’s sharp lines are softened by rounded edges. The incisions are crafted with expert precision to recreate the quilted weave. Attention to detail is seen in the arched contours, highlighting the sensual lines of a jewel that is recognised as a design icon. A creative manifesto that fuses strength and femininity, curves and angles.

For an enhanced glimmer in the light, Chanel created Beige Gold, a signature hue that pays tribute to Gabrielle Chanel’s love of the warm shade, where she found strength and protection. Beige is also the colour of her first triumphs, the tweed of her suits, the weave of her knits, the leather of her bicoloured shoes.

Coco Crush’s use of 18 carat Beige Gold mirrors the velvety sensation on the skin and flatters the complexion through the subtle balance of its nuances.

Wearing Beige Gold goes beyond the choice of a precious metal, it is the choice of sophistication, of quality without compromise, of a shade that is unmistakably Chanel.

“Red is the colour of life, I love red”, Coco Chanel used to say. For her, a touch of red was enough to enhance everything. The vibrancy of this shade, as essential as black and beige, highlighted

chanel.com

her iconic creations and today inspires the Chanel Jewellery Creation Studio for a new interpretation of Coco Crush.

For the first time ever, its incised gold is complemented with intense rubies. A flamboyant shade, set in the hollow of a C-shaped pendant, or glimmering at the centre of an O on a bracelet. The letters C, and O, that spell out C.O.C.O. when worn together on the wrist, over the ear or on a décolleté. A visual invitation to play with the colours and codes of a collection born as an ode to lightness.

Over time, Coco Crush embellished its collection with precious all diamond pavé settings - the most exclusive expression of Coco Crush with a fully paved surface - enhancing the curved quilted pattern with a sparkle of diamonds, accentuating the rhythm and geometry of the lines.

This year, the Chanel Jewellery Creation Studio has innovated with a new pavé setting technique for Coco Crush, adorning the diagonal lines of the quilted weave. The diamonds light up the incisions. Although the gemstones seem naturally scattered on gold, it’s a mirage precisely set by the technical prowess of the jewellers and setters. A bold, innovative pavé setting that is sure to inspire new ways of wearing.

These new ruby necklaces and bracelets, along with the diamond paved rings and bangles, enrich the collection and offer versatile styling options. This is where the strength of Coco Crush resides: jewellery to be worn freely, like Gabrielle Chanel, who chose her clothes and necklaces without the constraints of trends or fashions. With Coco Crush, jewellery adapts to every moment of life. A playful accumulation of bracelets mixing gold colours, different size rings on the fingers and hoop earrings as beautiful when worn alone or arranged as earcuffs.

Wearing Coco Crush is to embrace style in its freest expression, while cherishing the precious. Coco Crush is the very essence of Chanel.

THE SAINSBURY GALLERY, V&A SOUTH KENSINGTON 12 APRIL - 16 NOVEMBER

Opening on 12th April, the V&A will stage the UK’s first major exhibition in almost 30 years dedicated to Cartier jewels and watches, exploring how the Maison became an unparalleled force in the jewellery and watch world.

Featuring more than 350 objects, the exhibition will chart the evolution of the house’s legacy of art, design and craftsmanship since the turn of the 20th century. It was at that point that the three grandsons of founder Louis-François set out to create the first globally recognised jewellery house, establishing branches in Paris, London and New York. With an enviable client list of royalty and aristocracy, Cartier became known as ‘the jeweller of kings and the king of jewellers’ and later broadened its appeal thanks to the devotion of leading creatives from the worlds of cinema, music and fashion.

The exhibition will include precious jewels and showstopping objects, historic gemstones, iconic watches and clocks from the V&A and Cartier Collection, as well as previously unseen drawings from the V&A and Cartier archives, together with works lent by His Majesty The King from the Royal Collection, major UK and international museums, and private collections.

The exhibition design is led by British architect and artist Asif Khan MBE, continuing a tradition of landmark collaborations where artists have shaped Cartier’s scenography.

Highlights will include the Williamson Diamond brooch

commissioned by Queen Elizabeth II in 1953 featuring the rare 23.6 carat pink Williamson diamond; the Scroll Tiara commissioned in 1902 and worn to the coronation of Elizabeth II, and by Rihanna on the cover of W magazine in 2016; a rose clip brooch (1938) worn by Princess Margaret at her sister’s coronation; Grace Kelly’s engagement ring (1956), from the Monaco Princely Palace Collection, that she wore in her final film High Society (1956); an amethyst and sapphire brooch made by Cartier London (c.1933) and worn by Jacques Cartier’s wife Nelly; Mexican film star María Félix’s exceptional snake necklace (1968); the majestic Manchester Tiara from the V&A collection, made in 1903 for the Dowager Duchess of Manchester; a collection of panther jewels, one of the House’s most enduring and instantly recognisable symbols, including a bracelet of pavé diamonds flecked with onyx (1978); and a selection of Cartier timepieces that embody its unique and pioneering approach to watchmaking, including the Crash wristwatch, designed by Cartier London (1967).

Across three main sections the exhibition will explore the creativity of Cartier and the emergence of its signature style, the legacy of its technical ingenuity and craftsmanship, as well as its sophisticated approach to image-making and maintaining its legacy and relevance in a changing world. The exhibition will cast a light on the history of Cartier London and will culminate in a spectacular display of tiaras.

PIAGET LIMELIGHT GALA

For more than half a century, the Limelight Gala has stood as a symbol of Piaget’s artistry, blending elegant design with technical prowess. The collection’s signature, featuring sensual curves, asymmetrical lugs, and a harmonious fusion of gemstones and precious metals, have made it an icon of timeless sophistication.

This season, Piaget has adorned the striking design with a mesmerising gold engraved pattern on its two new Limelight Gala creations.

Embodying the Maison’s unparalleled expertise in

watchmaking, jewellery and goldsmithing, both watches are powered by the self-winding 501P1 Manufacture movement and have a 32mm case that wears bigger thanks to the sensual curves of the asymmetrical lugs that extend from each side of the case and snake sinuously around the wrist. The two new Limelight Gala watches revives from the archive a hand-engraved motif across the dial and bracelet that underscores Piaget’s reputation as the House of Gold, a title bestowed on the Maison in 1957 when it decided to work exclusively with precious metals. In a total contrast to the Maison’s signature Decor Palace or

snake scales effect that were previously adorning most of the modern Limelight Gala watches, the new engraved finishing creates a wavy effect pattern. An illusion of movement reminiscent of the softly rippling silk of red-carpet gowns, which is enhanced by the fluidity of the bracelet’s design. Each watch is worked by a single master- engraver over two days, ensuring consistency in the engraving from clasp to bracelet to dial.

While one model is a showcase of gold framed by 42 brilliant white diamonds weighing 4.74 cts, the second Mesmerizing Burgundy model is a vibrant celebration of Piaget’s colour expertise. Once again, the entire watch is hand- engraved with the new motif before the dial is flooded with rich, translucent Grand Feu enamel.

Colour has been central to Piaget’s identity since its early take on ornamental stones. Drawing inspiration from the opulent gowns and the deep ‘pigeon’s blood’ shade of the hedonistic 1970s red carpets, these watches are a testament to Piaget’s rich heritage. The new burgundy hue introduces a fresh richness to the wrist, opening doors to unexplored colour palettes in watchmaking, which echoes some of the most stunning vintage watches featuring the rubyroot stone. The technique allows the underlying texture to shine through while the intense ruby-root shade is complemented by a carefully curated gradient of gemstones ranging from diamonds and pale pink sapphires through to deep red rubies. A perfect tie-and dye of gemstones, which becomes incredibly hard to source in this high quality.

Elevating everyday elegance, the Limelight Gala watches represent the pinnacle of Piaget’s craftsmanship. They offer a contemporary interpretation of five decades of history, revealing their secrets with each glance and wear. As the Maison reaffirms its position at the forefront of luxury watchmaking and jewellery, these new Limelight Gala Editions stand as a testament to Piaget’s enduring legacy of creativity, sophistication, and uncompromising quality.

Virtuoso XI Virtuoso XI

There are moments when life calls for a touch of brilliance. With these occasions in mind, Bovet offers a special version of the Virtuoso XI, Bovet’s first and only fully skeletonised timepiece.

A remarkable piece, special “Pierre du Château” (“Stones of the Castle” in English) or “Fleurisanne” engraving adorns the bow, while brilliant white diamonds are set into the 18K red or white gold bezel for the latter’s engraving motif.

The delicate dance when skeletonising a movement is to remove enough material to enhance the aesthetics and completely show the inner workings, while still keeping the movement robust enough to function impeccably. Take away too much material from the bridges, for example, and they could deform and damage the performance of the movement.

However, Bovet’s owner Mr. Pascal Raffy wasn’t content with just applying the art of skeletonisation for this timepiece. He was determined to do something that had never been done before, so he gave the mandate to engrave both sides of the movement’s components. In normal skeletonised watches, the movements are often tightly packed without much room in between the bridges and wheels, so engraving both sides is too difficult and would be pointless because it would not be visible.

With the Virtuoso XI, the movement was specifically designed from the start to have enough space to engrave

both sides of the bridges and plates, and room to admire them, and the result is exceptional. More transparent than any other timepiece that Bovet has ever produced, every aspect of this high watchmaking movement is on full display.

Mesmerizing and captivating, the Virtuoso XI is a wonder to behold. The flying tourbillon movement that drives this exceptional timepiece meets Bovet’s demanding criteria of chronometry, reliability, and expression. It draws its energy from a single barrel that ensures more than 10 days of power reserve (240 hours, when the industry standard is 42-48 hours), all while maintaining the balance wheel’s oscillations at 18,000 vph.

Finally, the long power reserve would require meticulous winding if not for the spherical differential winding system. The application of this ingenious mechanism, and the multi-gear three- dimensional teeth of one of its pinions, has received two patents. Because of this system, the number of crown turns needed for full winding of the mainspring is halved without increasing friction and forces exerted on the gears.

Available in 18K white or red gold, the Virtuoso XI is a triumph of high watchmaking, skeletonisation, handengraving, and hand-decoration. All told, more than 60 pairs of human hands have come together to transform this timepiece into a true work of art.

FREDERIQUE WATCH CONSTANT ANGELS

Geneva-based watchmaker Frederique Constant along with watch collector community and habillage producer Watch Angels, has proudly unveiled their latest co-creation and coproduction: the Worldtimer Manufacture in 40mm. This unique timepiece, encasing the renowned in-house FC-718 world time movement, has been designed exclusively for the collector's community and marks a design and dimensional evolution of the acclaimed 42mm Classic Worldtimer Manufacture model.

One of the most cherished models in the Frederique Constant “Manufacture Collection”, the FC-718 Worldtimer, this new version introduces a smaller case featuring a streamlined and dynamically elegant design which comes to complement the maison’s highly successful 42mm classic model: a new and refined iteration which caters to the aesthetic preferences and wearability expectations of an important segment of the watch enthusiast community, offering a versatile alternative to the classic larger size.

With its subtle curves and sharp bevels - combined with vertically brushed lugs, a horizontally brushed case profile and a polished bezel - the new Worldtimer case combines elegance and dynamism, as well as a striking impression of slimness, despite housing a sophisticated complication.

Achieving the perfect case proportions and an optimal legibility of the world time city disk demonstrates the ingenuity

of Frederique Constant’s and Watch Angel’s design and engineering. By inclining the city disk and removing the date, the redesigned three-piece dial prioritises clarity and the effortless readability of the 24 time zones. The result is a clean, contemporary aesthetic with a focus on functionality.

The day and night segments on the 24-hour disk add to the allure. They are divided by two half hemispheres: a polished sun for daytime and a polished-sandblasted crescent moon for nighttime, beautifully blending form and function.

At the heart of this creation lies the FC-718 in-house caliber, composed of 139 intricately assembled components. Designed with effortless usability in mind, this precision movement allows all functions to be set solely via the crown - no additional pushers are required. The craftsmanship of the movement is showcased through an extra-large open sapphire case back. It reveals exquisite decorations, such as the Côtes de Genève, the perlage, and blued screws - the hallmarks of Swiss horological excellence. This new Frederique Constant Worldtimer Manufacture in 40mm reflects the Maison’s commitment to innovation, timeless elegance, and the desires of the collector community.

The Watch Angels + Frederique Constant Worldtimer Manufacture timepiece is being manufactured in a limited edition of 718 pieces.

TOURBILLON MOONPHASE

Created from titanium, in shades of blue and grey, the Piaget Polo watch continues to explore contemporary complications, while never deviating from the signature codes of Piaget’s style: the most graceful thinness, the most daring materials, the most innate elegance.

A true icon of the watchmaking world since its launch in 1979, the Piaget Polo embraced the ‘sport chic’ trend in its own unique way by unveiling a bracelet watch carved from pure gold. Today, it is venturing even further. Having proudly displayed the colours of a masterful skeleton movement since 2021, elevated by an ultra-thin perpetual calendar in 2023, the Piaget Polo watch is yet again taking up position on the complications podium in 2025 by combining a flying tourbillon with an astronomical moonphase display.

After its majestic reign on the Altiplano Ultimate Concept Tourbillon watch, the flying tourbillon now exhibits its beating heart on another of Maison Piaget’s star watch cases, following on from this exploit of ultra-thin elegance.

To celebrate the debut of a complication as poetic as it is emblematic, the Piaget Polo Flying Tourbillon Moonphase is stepping into the spotlight wearing Piaget’s most iconic colour: blue, the Maison’s long-standing visual signature.

Asserting the Maison’s inherent mastery in ultra-thin watchmaking, the Piaget Polo Flying Tourbillon Moonphase boasts an overall thickness of 9.8 mm. This stems from the

piaget.com

calibre that drives it, the 642P, which itself is just 4 mm thick. Extravagantly defying expectations, the Piaget Polo Flying Tourbillon Moonphase displays a 44 mm-diameter titanium case alternating polished and satin-brushed surfaces. Light, yet extremely strong, this material has earned its place among the noblest of alloys, not for its rarity but for its exceptional performance. This includes its ability to retain all its properties when it is coloured using the PVD technique. This latest creation presents blue case flanks and a blue crown insert, matching the dial with their shade and their gadroons, a visual signature that has set the tempo for the Piaget Polo collection since its inception in 1979.

The relative speeds of the Earth and its satellite means that their cycles are slightly out of sync. Moonphase mechanisms vary in their ability to reflect this mismatch. Thanks to Piaget’s horological expertise and uncompromising technical precision, it would take 122 years to build up a single day’s difference between Calibre 642P’s display and the reality of the night sky. This misalignment can be rectified by adjusting the Piaget Polo Flying Tourbillon Moonphase’s moon display using the corrector at 9 o’clock.

On one side, the wearer can admire the motion work and the moonphase display at 6 o’clock, while on the other, a clear sapphire crystal shows off the movement. Only when the Piaget Polo Flying Tourbillon Moonphase is slipped onto the wrist does it fully reveal its true nature: fine, streamlined, light and comfortable, with unfailing sophistication.

SPACE TIME

Bell & Ross reaches new heights with its latest BR-03 Astro, a watch evocative of the cosmic universe. With Earth at its centre, surrounded by the Moon and Mars, Bell & Ross pays homage to the blue planet and offers a fresh perspective on its watchmaking expertise.

Precision-crafted, a watch can become a window into the vastness of the universe. Through this idea, the Franco- Swiss watchmaker has taken on the challenge of envisioning a planetary system within a 41mm casescaled down to perfection. Original and unprecedented, its dial showcases the orbits of planets around Earth. An interplanetary timepiece dedicated not only to space

exploration enthusiasts and astronomy buffs but also to admirers of our blue planet.

Limited to 999 pieces, the glass of the dial is carved into a spherical cap, allowing Earth to be rendered realistically in both volume and decal. Calculating the weight and positioning of the hands - especially to support the engraved Moon - required the same meticulous approach applied to designing components of any other precision timepiece.

The mission of the small satellite is simple and precise: to mark the seconds by completing a full orbit around the Earth in 60 seconds. The Moon indicates the minutes,

while Mars slowly follows its orbit to display the passing hours. With this captive orbital system, displayed on a blue aventurine dial, the BR-03 Astro offers a quirky way to read traditional time indicators. Its "hands" are unconventional: Mars indicates the hours, the Moon the minutes, and the small satellite functions as the seconds hand. Together, they create a constant animation on a dial designed like a natural setting in perspective. Every glance at the time becomes an escape.

With a technical black exterior reminiscent of space's darkness, the BR-03 Astro asserts itself as a statement of style and individuality. Measuring 41mm in diameter

and 11.5mm in height, its case is entirely crafted from black ceramic. Water-resistant to 100 meters, it features an anti-reflective sapphire glass with a carved spherical cap at its centre to showcase Earth in relief. Powered by the Swiss automatic mechanical movement BR.CAL-327, the watch is both robust and highperforming. Its black rubber strap, secured by a black PVD-coated steel pin buckle, reflects its professional heritage. Continuing Bell & Ross’s legacy of crafting instruments inspired by aviation and exploration, the new BR-03 Astro, Bell & Ross elevates this instrument collection to new heights.

Blast [Amoureuxpeintre]

Known for its wild mindset and unconventional designs, independent Swiss watch Manufacture Ulysses Nardin has partnered with fashion designer Amoureuxpeintre, presenting an artistic interpretation of a horological object, the Blast [Amoureuxpeintre].

United by a shared desire to challenge the boundaries and to shatter convention, the collaboration between Ulysse Nardin and Amoureuxpeintre began with a deep reflection on the world around us, focusing on the often-overlooked visual cues of everyday life.

“Hidden meanings are all around us - you just need to look closer to engage and understand how things truly work,” shares the designer. Ulysse Nardin has built wild horological objects that have stood the test of time and achieved icon status amongst watch collectors.

The Maison has long been at the forefront of redefining time telling conventions, first shattering traditions with the Freak in 2001 - a watch with no hands, no dial, and no crown. Yet, it still tells the time… In this spirit of creative disruption, the fashion designer, artist, and model Amoureuxpeintre sought to convey a minimalist yet emotional expression of time, creating a piece that sparks deeper reflection and encourages the wearer to find meaning below the surface.

“Amoureuxpeintre is a very curious, intelligent and articulate designer. He has an energy you find amongst younger generations, where everything feels possible, and boundaries do not exist. He is rooted in his origins, but is a citizen of the world. This boundless spirit has translated into a collaboration that pushes the limits in terms of design.” - Jean-Christophe Sabatier, Chief Product Officer, Ulysse Nardin.

Staying true to Ulysse Nardin and Amoureuxpeintre’s legacy as mavericks and innovators, this ground breaking collaboration celebrates the curiosity embedded in everyday life, uncovering the hidden meanings that often go unnoticed in our surroundings.

The exclusive limited-edition series of 29 masterpieces as a canvas to reshape traditional ways of seeing, an invitation to

question the role of its elements beyond their initial appearance and encouraging deeper interpretation. Born from a shared enthusiasm for rejecting the status quo, the watch celebrates the balance between revealing the mechanics of the timepiece in a subtle, restrained way - inviting the wearer to discover meaning beyond the surface.

Guided by Amoureuxpeintre’s pure and minimalist artistic vision, Ulysse Nardin meticulously reimagined every element of the Skeleton X, creating a one-of-a-kind timepiece, which is a combination of transparency and blurriness, that transforms the concept of reading time. By removing elements from the dial, Ulysse Nardin achieved a design that seamlessly combines minimalism, functionality, and readability.

At the heart of this creation beats the Manufacture Calibre UN-371, offering a 96-hour power reserve and featuring one of the Freak Vision’s greatest innovations: a wide, super-light balance wheel in silicon, with nickel flyweights.

The 42 mm anthracite lightweight sandblasted titanium case and bezel complement Amoureuxpeintre’s muted colour palette and visionary aesthetic. The watch features a frosted open sapphire case back adorned with Amoureuxpeintre’s signature, while the crown has been refined, removing any ribbed texture to enhance the clean lines of the design.

Beneath the anthracite hands coated with grey Superluminova, an unmistakable blurred sapphire skeleton dial brings this concept to life. The frosted-ice effect was achieved through an advanced laser technique, while the fumé effect was created using thin metallization. This ingenious and artfully blurred result was the culmination of over two years of development.

The result is a dial that subtly exposes the skeletonised movement’s outlines, faintly revealing the mechanics of time like a window of deconstruction.

This limited-edition series of 29 artworks is presented on a modern grey Alcantara strap, paired with an anthracite PVD titanium sandblasted tang buckle. A special watch box, crafted in anthracite and grey tones, completes this exceptional collaboration.

Dune Aeolian Bronze

British watchmaker Christopher Ward have released their first launch of the year, the new C65 Dune Aeolian collection. Taking its name from Aeolus - the Greek god of wind - the C65 Dune Aeolian collection follows on from a limited-edition Dune timepiece, The Shoreline, which was created in collaboration with Oracle Time last year. Thanks to a swift sell-out of this watch, Christopher Ward were quick to plans into action to create a stand alone collection under the name. Building on the evocative dial and unique colour scheme, the collection brings even more refined detail and a natural palette which blends perfectly into current trends.

Venturing away from the British Isles, Christopher Ward set their sights on the South of France's Dune du Pilat for inspiration with these stunning new textured dials while the

watches themselves are influenced by the versatile nature and design innovations of classic field watches.

Undulating waves are the centrepiece of this collection, delivering a ripple-like aesthetic that appears to move organically across the dial. However organic they may seem however, painstaking work went in to ensuring the best effect was achieved while maintaining the watches legibility - it's main function after all.

The C65 Dune Aeolian Bronze COSC is the perfect demonstration of this organic nature with its earthy tones. Offering a heritage feel thanks to its bronze 38mm case, this watch will evolve and change with time, developing a natural patina unique to each piece. It features a COSC-certified movement and is water resistant up to 15 ATM/150m.

Pioneer Tourbillon

H. Moser & Cie unveils the Pioneer Tourbillon Burgundy. Blending elegance and robustness, this model is equally at home on land and in water, with its 5N red gold case water-resistant to 12 ATM.

Housed in a 40mm case, H. Moser & Cie. has placed its HMC 805 automatic calibre with flying tourbillon featuring a double hairspring. With its Burgundy dial, a brand-new addition to the Pioneer collection, the Pioneer Tourbillon Burgundy is utterly resplendent, ready both to conquer the elements and bask in admiring glances.

Designed to push the limits and stylishly adapt to all of life's daily challenges, the Pioneer Tourbillon Burgundy is elegant and hard-wearing in equal measure. With its 5N red gold case and water resistance to 12 ATM, it defies conventions. Its Burgundy fumé dial, featuring the H. Moser & Cie. logo in transparent lacquer, captures the light and enhances the warmth of the red gold. Its khaki strap adds a touch of adventurous spirit to this refined and timeless piece.

Behind its apparent simplicity lies a masterpiece of engineering: a tourbillon movement with a double hairspring, a symbol of excellence and precision. Thanks to this pair of matched hairsprings, produced by H.Moser & Cie.'s sister company, Precision Engineering AG., the movement of the point of gravity on each spring when it expands is corrected, significantly improving accuracy and isochronism in continual pursuit of perfection. In addition, the paired hairsprings also reduce the effect of friction normally experienced with a single hairspring, improving isochronism even further. Finally, thanks to its unique design, the tourbillon is an interchangeable module, assembled and regulated independently of the movement via a simple Plug & Play system which allows for easy servicing. The result is a watch which is equally at home in the urban jungle and the great outdoors.

The HMC 805 automatic Manufacture calibre replaces the HMC 804, providing clever updates such as a wider opening onto the mechanism through partially skeletonised bridges, combined with a highly contemporary anthracite grey finish. This opening allows the gear train and bi-directional automatic winding system wheels to be viewed, while the rotor has also been bevelled so as to not obstruct the view of the movement, which still guarantees a power reserve of at least 3 days.Truly rare by nature, it embodies the DNA of H. Moser & Cie., where tradition meets innovation in a spirit of freedom.

ZM 2

The launch of the new Leica ZM 12 watch collection refines the essence of simplicity, staying true to Leica's design principles with a fresh take on minimalism. Building on the foundation of the ZM 11, the ZM 12 introduces a thoughtful evolution of the dual-layered dial, welcoming a new collective of Leica lovers with its smaller size.

A modern interpretation of iconic design, the Leica ZM 12 collection strikes the perfect balance between form and function. Amongst the key distinctions between the ZM 11 and the ZM 12 collections is the smaller 39 mm case, crafted with either stainless steel or titanium, as well as the addition of a small seconds subdial at 6 o'clock, adding symmetry to the overall aesthetic. The dual-layered dial comes to life through an interplay of light and shadow, creating depth and allowing the ZM 12 to captivate from various angles in an exploration of colour. Swiss Grade A Super-LumiNova illuminates the indices and hands, ensuring exceptional legibility even in challenging lighting conditions.

Engineered in close collaboration with the renowned Swiss movement specialists at Chronode, the exceptional automatic Leica Calibre LA-3002 is fitted with 38 jewels. The ZM 12 impresses with a timekeeping accuracy of -4/+6 seconds per day and boasts a remarkable power reserve of approximately 60 hours. The movement operates at a frequency of 28,800 beats per hour and is measured in five positions to always ensure the highest precision.

Featuring four models, each with its own distinct style and character: ZM 12 Steel Blue Orange, ZM 12 Steel Silver Grey, ZM 12 Steel Olive Black, and ZM 12 Titanium Chocolate Black. Interchangeable straps provide wearers with the flexibility to personalise their watch aesthetic, allowing them to express their individual style or transform their look to suit the occasion.

Each strap is meticulously handcrafted in Leica's artisanal workshop, blending modern technology with traditional craftsmanship. Two exceptional materials have been used to create the watch straps. The first is a premium technical textile that is durable and resilient, offering exceptional strength and longevity; in beige, the fabric features a unique, eye-catching pattern that adds a touch of sophistication to the wrist. The second is highquality rubber crafted from a robust material, offering excellent durability and comfort. Its bright orange hue and distinctive inverted "Clou de Paris" pattern make it ideal for those looking to make a bold style statement. Over 150 years later, Leica has been synonymous with innovation, engineering excellence, and timeless design. The new Leica ZM 12 watch collection embodies these values, continuing a long-standing tradition of functional design, fine mechanical craftsmanship, and an unwavering commitment to exceptional quality, resulting in extremely reliable and iconic products.

DUBLIN

The capital of Ireland, Dublin is a vibrant, colourful city that's bursting with things to see and do.

The ideal location for a whirlwind weekend away for those who want to pack in a city break but are struggling with time, Dublin offers fantastic food, great entertainment, and a healthy dose of culture just over an hour away from London.

Located in the heart of historic Dublin, and one of the most important buildings in Irish history, Dublin Castle is a must-visit. The city gets its name from the Black Pool - 'Dubh Linn' - which was on the site of the present Castle garden where the River Liffey met the River Poddle. The original fortification may have been an early Gaelic Ring Fort. Later a Viking Fortress stood

on this site. From 1204 until 1922 it was the seat of English, then British rule in Ireland.

Elsewhere visit the Book of Kells at Trinity College, Ireland’s oldest university. The precious 9th century manuscript containing the four Gospels of the New Testament, is on display as part of the Book of Kells Experience. Located in the Old Library, visitors first view the Book before marvelling at the Long Room, considered to be one of the world’s most beautiful libraries.

Drinks fans won't want to miss the Jameson Distillery tour or the Guinness Storehouse experience. Both are highly interactive, telling the history of the treasured brands and offering unique

The Chancery, 21 Ship Street Great, Dublin 2, Dublin Castle, D08 AFY9, Ireland

experiences you won't want to miss. Enjoy cocktail masterclasses, pot still whiskey and chocolate pairings at Jameson and delight in a Guinness while admiring the 360 degree views across the city from one of Dublin's highest vantage points, at the Gravity Bar at the Storehouse.

Aside from the obvious Temple Bar and its student filled bars for raucous drinks and entertainment, tucked away behind a discreet doorway, the Vintage Cocktail Club is the perfect intimate gathering place for cocktail with friends or romantic date night alike. Inspired by the 1920s-style clandestine bars of the golden age, the unique setting serves up an extensive menu of spirits and specially crafted, award winning cocktails using the finest seasonal ingredients. For those in the mood for steak, Boeuf on William Street offers some of the finest cuts. Camden Street also offers some of the best Irish pubs and bars for those looking for a more authentic night out, away from the tourist traps, with a buzzy atmosphere. After, stop by the viral Bambino Pizza for a late night slice or two of their now iconic pepperoni slice with hot honey.

Where to Stay...

The Chancery Hotel opened in Spring last year and offers a fantastic location and modern amenities. Located in the heart of Dublin, just behind Dublin Castle in an area that has been named 'Little Italy' thanks to the Italian migrants who settled in the late 1800's, the hotel offers a perfect base to explore the many historic landmarks, local eateries, museums, shops and iconic attractions.

Independently owned, the Chancery boasts 150 elegantly and thoughtfully designed rooms and suites, that each boast their own quirks and features. Warm and welcoming, the focus for the design of the hotel was centred around contemporary fixtures and fittings, combined with local artisanal features, including Phillipe Starck furniture and reclaimed Connemara marble throughout.

THE CHANCERY

The real gems of the hotel lie on the top floors, boasting beautiful, spacious terraces that offer spectacular views of the city skyline and the gardens of Dublin Castle. All rooms feature highly sophisticated, yet extremely easy to use in-room control panels to operate the state-of-the-art amenities, including electronically controlled curtains, blackout blinds, air-con, functional mood lighting and more. Creating a sanctuary of relaxation and style for both business and leisure travellers alike. Those in the mood for some relaxation will be pleased to note the hotel's compact but perfectly appointed wellness hub. Offering a small whirlpool dip pool and stylish hammam area with sauna and steam rooms, as well as a 24/7 state of the art gym, the hub also boasts a treatment room where guests can indulge in a relaxing Jo Browne luxury, vegan-friendly body or face treatments. The full body aromatherapy massage leaves skin feeling nourished and toned, and the mind calmed and refreshed. After all that relaxing and exploring, head to Fawn, the hotel's elegant bistro. Looking out onto the idyllic walled garden, allowing natural light to flood the dining room, Fawn offers seasonal changing menus, showcasing the best of Irish produce that takes you from dinner to a hearty, body fuelling breakfast the next day.

Next door, the Bar at The Chancery offers a ‘speak-easy’ style, relaxed lounge to enjoy some much-needed respite from the busy city centre. Guests are transported back to the 1800’s, with views of lamp post lit cobbled streets. The carefully curated cocktail list, boasts a range of serves, each made with homemade syrups and shaken by expert mixologists. Be sure to try the Espresso Martini - one of the best in Dublin!

GAZPACHO INGREDIENTS

3kg Vine Cherry Tomatoes | 3 Cucumbers | 4 Red Peppers |

2 Red Onions | 1 Small Chilli | 125ml Cabernet Sauvignon Vinegar | 2 Cloves Garlic | 500ml Tomato Juice | 60-80g Sugar | 25g Salt | 300ml Olive Oil

CURED SALMON INGREDIENTS

1 Side Salmon | 100g Salt | 100g Sugar

ASPARAGUS SALAD INGREDIENTS

1 Bunch Green Asparagus | 1 Lemon | Salt

METHOD

Begin by peeling the cucumber. Next de-seed the cucumber, peppers and chilli. Roughly chop all the vegetables and mix with the sugar, salt and liquids. Leave in a large container to marinate overnight. The next day, blend the mix well till it’s nice and smooth. For a complete dish serve with some lightly cured salmon and a fresh asparagus salad to add some lovely texture. Take the salmon ensuring there are no bones. Mix the salt and sugar in a bowl and liberally coat the salmon on both sides and leave to cure for 1 hour in the fridge. Rinse off the cure mix and pat dry with a cloth. Once dry carefully cut off the skin and dice the salmon into nice pieces.

For the salad, peel the asparagus into long thin strips and place into ice water. This helps the vegetable crisp up. Dress with a little drizzle of oil, pinch of salt and a squeeze of lemon juice.

PAIRED TO PERFECTION

With the mornings getting brighter and evenings longer, it means that Spring is around the corner. With that comes the appeal of celebrating sunnier afternoons and Easter meals, once again. It would be impossible to ignore the temptation to elevate these celebrations with Champagne, and enjoy an array of styles throughout a meal. The Champagne Bureau UK* shares a guide of its favourite Spring pairings to demonstrate the delights and diversity that Champagne can bring to Spring.

Smoked salmon blinis and Champagne Blanc de Blancs

Canapés and Champagne Blancs de Blancs are a match made in heaven. These wines, which are blended exclusively from white

grapes and possess notes of white citrus and exotic fruits, pair exquisitely with a classic smoked salmon blini, herby crème fraiche and a squeeze of lemon. Champagnes Blancs de Blancs are light and tantalise the taste buds without “overloading” them - allowing for the subtle flavours of the blinis to come through.

A

lamb roast and Rosé Champagne

A roast lamb with all the trimmings pairs beautifully with a Rosé Champagne. With its pinkish hue, Rosé Champagne is most often obtained by macerating black grapes or by blending with red wine from Champagne and offers lively fruit aromas. This vibrantly coloured and sophisticated Champagne is sure to complement the richness of this traditional Easter meal.

Asparagus tart and a non-vintage Brut

YOUR PALATE

Champagne makes an excellent pairing to all dishes incorporating Asparagus. For many, Asparagus season is the marker of Spring and the end of the long days of winter. One such pairing is a non-vintage Champagne Brut, which is the nation’s most popular style, and an Asparagus tart – Champagne’s acidity and texture works incredibly well in complementing the gentle, delicate yet also assertive and strong asparagus.

Hot cross buns and a demi-sec

A spring classic - the mighty hot cross bun with its shiny glaze, array of fruit and white cross on top is not to be forgotten. A Champagne Demi-Sec is rounder, more indulgent and provides fruity notes that are very sweet on the palate as they have a higher sugar content of between 32 and 50 grams. The sweetness of these wines is especially well suited to desserts and the hot cross bun is no exception.

For further recommendations on pairings, we suggest you contact your local wine merchant.

OFFROAD CONCEPT

Audi has introduced an electrifying new concept in the off-road segment with the debut of its Q6 offroad concept. This innovative prototype combines two electric motors producing a total output of 380 kW, allowing it to tackle gradients of up to 100 percent thanks to its newly engineered portal axles.

The Q6 offroad concept makes a bold statement with its increased ride height of 160mm and a wider track of 250mm, giving the vehicle a striking presence. Audi CEO Gernot Döllner praised the concept after a test drive, describing it as a modern reinterpretation of quattro technology. Döllner emphasised that this concept demonstrates the advanced capabilities of Audi's electric vehicle platform and expressed excitement about customer reactions to the vehicle's dynamic design and performance.

Unlike conventional portal axles that increase torque at the wheels by 20 to 30 percent, Audi's new design achieves a remarkable 50 percent increase. This innovation reduces the vehicle's top speed to 175km/h (108mph) - sufficient for off-road conditions - while allowing it to conquer steep gradients up to 45 degrees.

The Q6 offroad concept emerged from Audi's exploration of how to create a deeply engaging electric vehicle. The result is a model equipped with four newly developed portal axles integrated into the front and rear wheel hub assemblies, requiring adjustments to the suspension links. This unique configuration boosts combined torque at the wheels to an impressive 13,400Nm, an increase of 4,400Nm over conventional systems. This exceptional performance exemplifies Audi's "Vorsprung durch Technik" philosophy, delivering cutting-edge innovation for both on- and off-road adventures.

Built on the Premium Platform Electric (PPE), the Q6 e-tron concept highlights Audi's ongoing commitment to electric vehicle excellence. In addition to impressive driving dynamics and charging performance, the Q6 series sets new benchmarks in range and efficiency.

ULT IME

Alpine has unveiled its most extreme and exclusive road car to date: the A110 R Ultime. Limited to just 110 units, this highperformance model represents the pinnacle of the iconic A110 series. Assembled at the renowned Jean Rédélé Alpine plant in Dieppe, the A110 R Ultime embodies precision engineering and track-focused design.

With a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of just 3.8 seconds, the A110 R Ultime outperforms its predecessor, the A110 R, by approximately 20 seconds on a lap of the Nordschleife circuit in Germany. Its 345bhp output, combined with an exceptional power-to-weight ratio, makes it a standout in its category.

The A110 R Ultime emerged from a collaborative effort that initially involved a dedicated team of Alpine engineers working like a "commando" unit. Drawing on expertise from the motorsport industry, the team enhanced the car's power, aerodynamics, and personalisation options to create a vehicle that delivers both dynamic performance and exclusivity.

For the first time, Alpine has introduced a comprehensive

personalisation program, enabling buyers to customise their vehicle extensively. The Atelier Sur-Mesure program offers 28 body colours, 14 Alcantara® upholstery shades, and 10 leather options. This initiative highlights the brand's focus on craftsmanship, allowing owners to create a bespoke Alpine tailored to their preferences.

Building on the success of the A110 since its 2018 relaunch, Alpine engineers set out to push the boundaries of performance while maintaining the car's lightweight and aerodynamic design. Drawing from their experience in GT4 racing and Formula 1 development, the team refined the A110 R Ultime's engineering to enhance speed, agility, and handling without excessive horsepower gains.

The A110 R Ultime's lightweight construction is achieved through an aluminium chassis paired with Ohlins® TTX adjustable dampers for improved suspension tuning. New forged

wheels, larger compound brake discs, and Michelin PS CUP 2 tires further boost the vehicle's performance capabilities. An upgraded DCT6 gearbox manages the car's additional power, ensuring maximum torque delivery of 420Nm from 3,200rpm.

Aerodynamic improvements were a core focus, with engineers incorporating a redesigned front splitter, bonnet vents, and adjustable rear wing to increase downforce by 160 kg compared to the A110 R. These refinements ensure the A110 R Ultime maintains stability and precision, especially during track use.

Under the hood, the vehicle boasts forged pistons, new connecting rods, and an optimised turbocharger system. Engine mapping has been adapted to support a 102 RON fuel rating, allowing the A110 R Ultime to achieve its peak 345bhp output at 6,000rpm. These enhancements place the A110 R Ultime among sports cars traditionally known for far greater power.

The A110 R Ultime's refined design complements its high-

performance capabilities. Collaborations with premium brands such as Sabelt® and Poltrona Frau® ensure an exceptional interior experience. The cockpit features Alcantara® and leather surfaces throughout, extending across seats, door panels, and dashboards. Customisation options include body-coloured aerodynamic parts, carbon elements, and unique exterior gradients.

To celebrate Alpine's signature colour, a special "La Bleue" edition is available in 30 units, showcasing a striking blue gradient paint scheme paired with a black and blue leather interior.

The A110 R Ultime not only cements Alpine's legacy in performance engineering but also offers a glimpse into the brand's future. With its combination of power, agility, and refined design, the A110 R Ultime sets a new benchmark in French sports car excellence.

HELDERBURG

HELDERBURG

Helderburg, a specialist Land Rover restoration company based in Sharon Springs, New York, has earned a reputation for crafting bespoke Defenders with meticulous attention to detail. Founded in 2019 by former business consultant Paul Potratz, Helderburg began as a personal passion project. Inspired by his father's vehicle repair workshop and his own affinity for British culture - from automobiles to classic tailoring - Potratz initially restored classic Land Rovers for his own enjoyment. After encountering professionally restored examples that failed to meet his expectations, he resolved to create something better himself.

Imagine a 300-acre farm in Upstate New York, not as a place of crops and livestock, but as a sanctuary for automotive artistry. This is Helderburg, where vintage Land Rover Defenders are reborn as $400,000+ works of rolling sculpture. At the heart of this extraordinary venture is Paul Potratz, a man whose passion for Defenders began in the grease-stained floors of his father's small-town repair shop. It was there he learned the value of hard work, attention to detail, and a commitment to quality - principles that now define every Helderburg restoration. His journey, from those humble beginnings to crafting the

world's most luxurious Defenders, is a testament to the power of vision and relentless dedication.

Potratz’s desire to preserve the spirit of the Defender ultimately shaped Helderburg’s philosophy. Frustrated by the industry’s growing emphasis on horsepower and superficial modifications, he set out to produce vehicles that retained the Defender's timeless character. "I wanted another Classic Defender, but I couldn’t find anyone who could fully capture my vision," Potratz explained. "These iconic vehicles were losing their soul. I thought either I’m crazy or I’ve tapped into something people really wantcreativity, individuality, and a sense of legacy in a Defender."

Interest in Potratz's restorations quickly grew after he shared a few projects on social media. What started as a means of connecting with like-minded enthusiasts soon evolved into a full-fledged business. The name 'Helderburg' was inspired by Potratz's passions, including photography, travel, and classic country gentleman style. Each Helderburg Defender is given a unique name, underscoring the individuality of the builds. In November 2019,

Potratz completed the Elizabeth D110, a Defender finished in Aintree Green - reportedly Queen Elizabeth's favorite Land Rover colour. Following its reveal, demand surged. "I started receiving inquiries from around the world asking me to build a Defender for them," Potratz recalled. Initially hesitant to take on commissions, he eventually posted that his next Defender would be available for sale - and within 30 minutes, over 20 offers had arrived.

The turning point came with the completion of Enzo D130 in March 2020. This double-cab Defender, featuring a pickup back and raised suspension, gained viral attention on Instagram. The build's popularity even caught the attention of Land Rover itself, which invited Potratz to showcase the vehicle at their Destination Defender event. "Enzo is quite possibly the most photographed Defender in the world," Potratz noted. "Strangers started following me home just to get a closer look."

Helderburg now employs 19 staff members, with much of the build process taking place in a dedicated 25,000 square foot workshop in Herefordshire, UK while final assembly and finishing are conducted in New York. Helderburg remains selective with hiring, employing former Land Rover craftsmen from Solihull to ensure the highest standards. Despite growing demand, Potratz has deliberately resisted scaling production. "We’re focused on quality, not quantity," he explained. "Right now, we’re developing something quite special for a one-of-a-

helderburg.com

HELDERBURG

kind Helderburg that will be offered for sale by invitation only."

Creating a Helderburg Defender is an extensive process, often requiring up to 3,000 hours of craftsmanship. "We build a Helderburg the way they used to be built: by hand," Potratz said. Many of the aluminium body panels are shaped manually rather than purchased off the shelf. Original Land Rover engines are carefully rebuilt with performance enhancements designed in collaboration with expert craftsmen.

Helderburg's creations are more than just restored vehicles; they're a symphony of handcrafted details. Think: meticulously stitched Scottish leather from Andrew Muirhead, German wool carpets, and Italian Alcantara headliners, creating an interior that is as luxurious as it is functional. They implement a proprietary braking system, new suspension, and a modern drive train, to ensure that these classic vehicles perform like modern ones. Each Defender represents 3,000 hours of painstaking work, from the complete chassis restoration to the final polish, a testament to the human touch in a world increasingly dominated by mass production. They are committed to preserving the British heritage of the Land Rover, while also improving upon it. In contrast to other restoration companies that swap Defenders' engines with American V8s or electric powertrains, Helderburg

remains committed to diesel engines. "I’m stubborn because I believe a diesel is the ideal engine for a Land Rover Defender," Potratz explained. Drawing on his father's background as a diesel mechanic, he emphasised that performance-tuned diesel engines excel both on and off-road, offer better longevity and fuel efficiency, and keep traditional craftsmanship alive.

Helderburg Defenders are distinguished by luxurious custom interiors, high-end audio systems, and materials sourced from specialised suppliers. Potratz maintains exacting standards across all aspects of the build. "In life, you can have good, better, best, and prestige. We choose to be prestige," he stated. "We don’t build the most Defenders, nor do we accept commissions from everyone."

The relationship between Helderburg and its clients is deeply personal. "A build can take over three years depending on the design we agree upon," Potratz said. "During that time, we get to know the client very well - it’s almost like a marriage."

Each Helderburg is intended to be an heirloom, designed to endure as a cherished legacy for generations to come.

This is a story about the intersection of passion, craftsmanship, and the pursuit of perfection. It's about a man who dared to dream big, and turned a childhood obsession into a luxury brand that's redefining the automotive landscape.

Alfa Romeo 2600 SPIDER

This historically significant Alfa Romeo went against the curve when it was launched in 1962. Fitted with a straightsix engine with twin overhead camshafts, the 2600 was the first model to return to the traditional Alfa Romeo engine configuration which had been the manufacturers staple since the 1920s, giving way to four-cylinder engines as the factory moved its production to more economical mass-produced cars in 1950.

Despite the significance, just over 2,250 Alfa Romeo 2600 Spiders made it out of production between 1962 and 1968 making this '66 example a rare find. What makes this one extra special and even rarer is the fact that of the 2,250

produced, there were only 103 right-hand drive examples made.

This example is presented in white coachwork with a striking, contrast red leather interior, red mohair soft top and rare factory hard top. It has also been recently repainted in its entirety as well as being mechanically recommissioned and serviced by specialist Graham Turner. The works included new tyres, soft top, leather, fluids, fuel hoses, battery and refurbished wheels and comes with a good service file.

Today, as a classic, the 2600 Spider is appreciated for the tasteful styling which boasts a flare of Italian opulence in both the bodywork and the interior. It is also regarded for the

Chelsea Cars, 59-61 Armoury Way, London SW18 1JZ

performance, technology and sound of the six-cylinder twin-cam engine. In a somewhat ironic twist of fate, the rarity of this model compared to more successful Alfa Romeo's of the same period afford it a valuable place in the automotive history books and now you can get your hands on one of just 103 examples.

Classic Italian sportscars always feature high on the desirable list for collectors, but a car like this can be easily missed despite its impressive credentials and beautiful appearance. And for those simply looking for somthing a little different, this could be the perfect opportunity. This is not a car to be overlooked.

Only activating during quiet periods - which are calculated thanks to the machine's impressive connectivity - you can rest assured that it will be ready for your next cup when you return. Each profile can be setup to include specific drinks, bean selection (if you fill each hopper with a different bean), temperature and a whole host more, allowing you to create your very own menu - up to 100 drinks - that is available at the push of a button. You can also set it up to get things started before you even get to the kitchen saving you even more time.

The EQ900 Plus boasts dual container and e-grinders meaning you can easily control how coarse or fine each of the two bean options are ground ensuring every drink has the perfect consistency. And with three new additional drinks available on the pre-installed menu, including two cold-prepared drinks, Cold Brew and Cold Brew macchiato, and Slow Brew - for an even more intense flavour - it has never been easier to prepare barista level coffee at home whether you're a seasoned coffee connoisseur or just enjoy good coffee. LEICA LUX GRIP

Leica Camera are launching the Leica LUX Grip for the iPhone; a camera grip that impresses with its intuitive operation and high-quality manufacturing while, at the same time, setting new standards for photographic precision using a smartphone.

The Leica LUX Grip is similar to a classic Leica camera in terms of its handling and feel, and its clear design, sophisticated operating concept and easy attachment - guaranteed by secure magnetic MagSafe technology - improve the ergonomics and functionality of smartphone photography, taking it to a new level. The LUX Grip and iPhone communicate via Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and are perfectly complemented by the Leica LUX app.

All of the LUX Grip’s physical controls consistently express Leica’s design philosophy and conjure the familiar experience of using a professional camera. Weighing just 130 grams, the Leica LUX Grip is comfortable to hold and is equally suitable for leftand right-handed users. The 2-stage shutter release focusses with light pressure and starts shooting when fully pressed down. A button allows you to quickly switch between shooting modes. Two control elements can be individually assigned and customised via the Leica LUX app. While one button provides quick access to frequently used functions, the easy-to-grip control dial enables the precise selection of camera settings - such as zoom, aperture, shutter speed and exposure compensation. This means that photographers have all the essential aspects of image composition in their own hands, even when using a smartphone.

The Leica LUX app rounds off the photographic experience by adding the unmistakable image and colour aesthetics of legendary Leica lenses. The bokeh effect of the Summilux-M or Noctilux-M can be used to deliberately emphasise features while retaining full control over exposure, ISO and shutter speed. Unique Leica Looks, such as Vivid or classic Black&White, expand the artistic palette, lending digital photography an analogue character. The

Leica LUX app forms a perfect symbiosis with the LUX Grip. The full version of the app is included for one year with every Grip product registration.

The LUX Grip also sets the tone when it comes to sustainability. Thanks to its modular design, the Grip can be easily reused with all electronic components every time you change your iPhone. Only the MagSafe base plate has to be replaced. Its powerful battery lets you take up to 1,000 shots and will be ready for use again in a flash with a charging time of 2 hours via USB-C.

The Leica LUX Grip is now available in selected Leica Stores, in the Leica Online Store and from specialist retailers. Priced at £260.00, the Leica LUX Grip Leather Case is also available for an additional £50.00.

The capital has long been recognised as a desirable place to call home by both domestic and international buyers. In search of London’s most sought after addresses, best in class properties across the prime and super prime markets have remained remarkably robust given the economic backdrop, according to Savills latest £5million plus analysis.

Nick Maud, a director within Savills research team details how London’s £5million-plus market bounced back in the last quarter of 2024, following a year of uncertainty.

“In the final quarter of 2024, we saw an increase in £5 millionplus sales across London compared with the previous three quarters of the year indicating a degree of momentum in this discretionary segment of the prime London market; particularly given that it has been rather more price sensitive throughout 2024.

A general election was seen as a near certainty last year, and with that came a period of anticipation and caution across the market - one that lasted beyond the eventual July date. And yet, when the result was confirmed, all eyes turned to the upcoming Autumn Budget which saw the announcement of two key policies targeted at high net worth individuals: the unwinding of the ‘nondoms’ tax status and the additional stamp duty surcharge on the purchase of second homes.

In spite of these circumstances, there were 128 new build and second hand transactions in Q4 at £5 million and above in the capital, 25% more than in Q3 and 8% more than in Q4 2023. In the £10 million-plus bracket, this translated to 55 sales in Q4 compared with 35 in Q3 and 32 in Q4 2023.

Overall, last year’s 443 £5 million-plus sales represented a -16% decline on the 525 sales in 2023. However, it is still 44% higher than the 308 recorded in 2019, just before the pandemic.”

LONDON’S £5MILLION PLUS MARKET REMAINS ROBUST

What are the trends behind the data?

“One part of the market that was particularly buoyant was the new build sector. Over the last quarter, the volume of sales totalled 24 - the highest number since Q3 2023 (31). Albeit within the context of annual new build sales accounting for the lowest proportion of £5 million-plus sales in over a decade (10%), this suggests that some buyers at this price point have taken stock of their situation and are transacting with confidence.

While the £4.9 billion transacted at this level over the course of 2024 was -14% down on the £5.67 billion achieved in 2023, it nevertheless reflected a 33% increase on the pre-Covid average of 2017–2019 (£3.66 billion). Furthermore, the average sale price above £5 million over the last year was £11.04 million, the highest annual figure since 2019 (£11.07 million).

Elsewhere, Belgravia saw the highest proportion of £5 million-plus sales in 2024 (13%), the first time it has taken this dominant position since 2020, overtaking Chelsea which was ‘number one’ in both 2023 and 2022. Belgravia is perhaps best known for its grand Georgian townhouses and indeed demand for houses versus flats in 2024 was at its highest level across London (63% vs 37%) since 2021 (72% vs 28%), which marked the peak of the ‘race-for-space’ trend. However, Belgravia (10%) was second to Kensington (13%) and Chelsea (13%), which were the areas with the highest share of house sales.”

Outlook

“Looking at the year ahead, the first few months are going to be crucial in determining the full impact of the Budget announcements on London’s most discretionary residential markets; with prices in prime central London some 20.7% below their 2014 peak, the market may be appealing in the value offered to certain buyers. Those purchasing through a mortgage will also be encouraged by the projected base rate cuts for 2025, and with recent political and fiscal events now concluded, we may start to see a gradual improvement in sentiment.”
