ISSUE 8 Oh Summer, we haven’t forgotten you yet, but we were secretly already slowly counting down the days until autumn arrives for some time now. To us, autumn is the best season of them all. The colours of nature are amazing this time of year and the trees near our headquarters are already starting to turn a beautiful shade of gold too. Plus, the weather is absolutely perfect for all you fashionistas out there, since we get to layer all of our favourite clothing items. Need we say more to convince you that this should be your favourite time of year too? There are a lot of fun autumn festivities coming up, and even the holiday season is right around the corner! So why do we love autumn fashion so much? Because you can wear anything you want, as long as you keep our small suggestions in mind. Brights have been a big story for a couple of seasons now (remember our previous YOUR Magalogue editions?) and they’re still going strong for autumn. This season’s knits come in colourful and fuzzy with a variety of different patterns and an even wider diversity of silhouettes.Perfect for everyone who is feeling dull about the black, grey and navy outfits hanging in their closet. If you don’t care for bright colours, try mixand-matching with blacks and whites for an amazing can’t-take-your-eyes-off-it look.

x

The next issue of YOUR magalogue will hit the streets in December! Stuffed with the best premium goods, available at YOUR premium store.

2

Remember: this autumn, contrast is the new black. After spending time in the sun, chlorine, salt water and air conditioning your hair needs a refreshing cut, so come in and have a cup of coffee while you discuss your new hairstyle with hairdresser Stijn. Even our fragrances are already in a autumn mood. Our perfume genius Wim matches your new wardrobe with a matching, warm and autumn-ish scent like no other. YOUR favourite, warm coat should be hanging back in your closet by now, but if you’re looking for something new, don’t worry. Our store is packed with beautiful statement coats and parkas that perfectly fit the new season. Bold colours, striking prints or furry details? You name it. When winter fully closes in, we’ll be back with more must-haves coming your way. But let’s not rush into things. Before you start to push your summer dresses and shorts to the back of your closet, enjoy the very last sunbeams with your friends and a couple of yummy cocktails to celebrate the end of summer. We dare to say that the new collections are the strongest we have had until now. And finally...after winterseasons filled with blacks, blue and brown, there's colour! A variety of colour that is! Hope to see you soon so we can knock your socks off! (or on?) Cheers, YOUR Guv'nor

1 Returning with its classic style, Fred Perry introduces their new menswear collection for autumn/winter 2012. Through the menswear collection, they bring back the workshop wear from the year of 1930s and 40s that features heavy down coats, layered over textured knits, and tri-colour marl sweats. In creating the sophisticated Fred Perry look, they use heritage fabrics such like rich tartans and brushed gingham to produce a perfect combination of simple yet stylish design. 2 Classic British menswear brand Ben Sherman has released their autumn 2012 collection and it's now available at YOUR premium store. Mods and rockers take a dual role inspiring this new Plectrum Autumn/Winter 2012 collection, pairing

the sleek and tailored aesthetic of the mod movement with the relaxed and gritty nature of the rocker. All of this blends the two factions together for a nostalgic autumn outing. 3 FRAAS reflects its luxury in each of its single scarves and shawls. The brand creates this own unique connection between incompatibles on his own and quite exclusive way like no other brand. Our FRAAS in-store accessories allow you to express your own individual style. Starting from this season, we've created a special "YOUR selection", together with the experts from FRAAS. 4 The Converse Weapon already made its entrance in 1986 and was worn by some of the most iconic basketball players of the eighties and nineties. Not only basketball players, but also Axl

3

Rose from Gun’s & Roses was a big fan of his own customized Converse kicks. The iconic shoe debuts as part of the Converse by John Varvatos collection for autumn 2012 with a slightly smaller model, super soft uppers and five colour variations. 5 For that long haul down the road less travelled, the Nixon watch is a trustworthy companion. Bold, durable and yet refined, it combines high-output engineering with the reliability of a daily driver. These road-tested timepieces upshifts into a class of its own. In case you didn't notice; YOUR has the biggest Nixon range in Europe! So don't search any longer for more excuses. We have what you want...

1 1 The Converse Fast Break LP is inspired by the original Fast Break sneaker from the 70s and is also the successor of the Fast Break 2 Hi. In the 80s, the ‘Fast Break’ even developed into the Fast Break Pro Basketball and was worn by the USA Team during the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. The contemporary version of the Fast Break LP is an updated version of the classic from the 80s, including a vulcanised, thinner sole (LP stands for low profile). 2 FRAAS reflects its luxury in each of its single scarves and shawls. brand. Our FRAAS in-store accessories allow you to express your own individual style. Starting from this season, we've created a special "YOUR selection", together with the experts from FRAAS. 3 It's a simple recipe, and yet frequently muddled. Mix equal parts luxury and sophistication with spontaneity and youthful recklessness; shake well and you've got yourself the all-new Spur. Japanese quartz movement keeps three hands and date moving along, while precious metals and an embedded diamond might make you want to linger a little longer. This collection of watches showcases a singular color of lush Rose Gold, a look that certainly demands a double take.

6

4 Reiko is more than just a brand. Their coloured chino’s are available in a wide range of shades, so once you’ve found your perfect fit, you’ll only have to worry about not buying them all. The brand was born out of the ambition of three friends to create a design reaching beyond trends aiming at fitting every woman. 5 The Molami headphones are definitely the most fashionable way to take your music with you in style. All Molami headphones feature a microphone and remote, allowing you to pick up calls and communicate while listening to your music. All at the top of your fingers. As Astrid Bryan would say: "How cool is that?!"

stimulate body and soul As I’m sure you’ll agree, there is nothing more welcoming and homely than walking into a deliciously smelling house! The scent of a good quality home fragrance is not only one the first things people notice, but also one of the first things people remember. The hidden treasure that is Dr Paulo Vranjes, a Florence based chemist, has blended pure natural ingredients with the worlds finest essential oils to create beautiful home fragrances which not only stimulate the body and soul but also purify living space. Not only are the scents stunningly beautiful but the bottles themselves mark their very own presence. By combining pure natural ingredients, the world’s finest oils and an inherited passion for beautiful scents, Dr Vranjes manages to capture the essence of Florence in his unique collection of fine fragrances. These luxurious Dr Vranjes products all succeed in stimulating the body and soul whilst refreshing the living space.

QUALITY FRAGRANCES, WITHOUT COMPROMISE Smell is our most primitive and least understood sense. Perfume manipulates that sense, instantly reminding us of good times past. Fragrance exploits our feelings so successfully, that is has become a massive industry. But at YOUR premium store, fragrance is liquid luxury. We carry two of the oldest perfume houses: Creed and Lubin. Creed was established in London in 1760 by James Henry Creed and moved to Paris in 1854, under the protection of Empres Eugénie where the family business is still at the same premises. Lubin was established in Paris in 1798 by Pierre François Lubin, who was the apprentice of Jean Louis Fargeon, who was the loyal perfumer of the latest Queen of France. What is so important for me is that both houses do not compromise to quality and creativity, which you can smell immediately. Only the finest ingredients are good enough to create their perfume and each creation is a masterpiece, the brand is able to survive without loud marketing campaigns and ads. YOUR would not be YOUR if we didn’t have something completely different in contrast to those two houses: Comme des Garçons. This brand already left a big footmark in the history of perfuming since the launch of their first creation “Comme des Garcons” in 1994. The brand is provocative, evocative and renewing on its very own special way: the olfactive impression is the most important goal of their creations. They dare to use very modern ingredients and unbelievable compositions to create perfume like you have never smelled or thought of before! I would like to invite you to discover a whole new world of odours which you have never smelled before, at YOUR. I am at YOUR service to guide you trough our wonderful collection, of which I am very proud! I hope you enjoy my selection of fine fragrances for this fall issue, and smell you soon...

Yours, Wim

The autumn line of Prps Goods and Co. was based on the movie “Seven Years in Tibet” to create a rugged and vibrant collection. Focusing on intricate details such as the colourful aprons worn by the local Tibetans; or, the gear worn by mid-century mountain climbers making the arduous trek up Mount Everest, designer Donwan Harrell has created a collection that not only brings the essence of Tibet to life, but also adds excitement and luxury to men’s clothing. Don't search somewhere else for this great brand. Only available at YOUR!

WORDS

MEN It wouldn’t be autumn without a fresh, new winter coat hanging in your closet. And since it’s never too soon to invest in stylish outerwear to get you through the season, you better start looking for one now. The men’s fashion trend for this season is clear: go wild, go bright, go colour. Even go for coloured pants! Our in-store brands have also put their focus on shoes, so that’s where a lot of the attention will go too. This might come as news to you, but you can actually judge a man by his shoes. This season’s footwear shows us lots of innovative shoe details like rubber soles in bright shades. 19

4 1 Autumn/Winter 2012 from Adidas Originals brings with it the Campus 80s collection series. Existing of four different colour ways including blue, navy, grey and green, the iconic sneaker features durable suede uppers with uniform white Adidas stripes and soles consistent throughout. One word. Three stripes! 2 Deus Ex Machina is an Australian brand well known for its fixed-gear bikes, surfboards and even clothing. Just like the previous summer 2012 collection, the autumn/winter 2012 collection was inspired by the sunny life in LA, Sydney and Bali. And since the brand is

seemed to be so popular last season, we’ve taken the trouble to make sure the best Deus Ex Machina pieces of this season’s collection are already hanging in our store. 3 This one goes out to all the watermen – the idealists and true believers who stand their ground with conviction, attitude and a deep passion for mother ocean. Entitled »Essentials for Men of the Sea« the twothirds collection continues to pay tribute to the true blue lifestyle. A solid menswear range that once again redefines the genre with timeless designs, exquisite materials, durable craftsmanship and a deep belief in sustainability.

25

4 Who likes skulls? You? Because we at YOUR love this Deus ex Machina knitwear sweater with massive skulls! Graphic and explicit as this is, you will not scare anyone in a Halloween kind of way, but they will be shocked of your cool sense of style. Revival of the dead? Not quite. Revival of a bold masculin piece of knitwear? Yes please! 5 More than 30 years after its introduction, Adidas's Campus 80 sneakers remain a cult favorite. They quickly became the favored footwear of the 1980s for their sleek styling and iconic design. They're the same shoes we've always loved, but alive and kicking!

HAIRDRESSER

RECOMMENDS Time flies when you are having fun, I could not agree more. It has already been two years since I first set foot at YOUR premium store and I promise you, this was just the beginning. I would like to thank all of you who have supported me with their trust and loyalty over the years. So THANK YOU. Now before this starts sounding like a pageant election speech , I'll give you my seasonal advice for autumn 2012. Ladies: Messy is the new slick, I agree, but the health of your hair always comes first. Summer in Belgium has not treated us that well, so all of you who had the pleasure escaping to a more sunny destination should definitely come in for a premium treatment and trim. Besides the 'never-out-of-fashion' long natural wavy look, I also noticed a comeback of a shoulder length bob with a wild kind of finish this season. Guys, the same rule applies here , messy is hot. Our summer short and shiny hairdos make place for a little more volume and texture. We should all look like we worked a long, hard day at the wood workshop, while we could head out for drinks with our buddies any second too. Delivering bad news is never fun, but someone has to do it: summer is over. So people, get with the program and call me now! Oh by the way...in case you didn't know: I'm also there every Sunday! P.S.: Don't forget to scan the code above and check out my new tutorials!

PEOPLE

SANDER Let me introduce you to Sander Baane. Very involved in the way the store is filled with premium goods, but also a really nice guy. We met up with him in his Amsterdam based agency "SoloTwentyFive". Being one of the youngest agents on the market, he sets himself free from all the rest. With only a couple of years in the business, he gained some kick-ass brands and that's why we would love to share his vision and passion with you. What thrives the SoloTwentyFive Amsterdam based agency? How many people are involved? Our focus is to sell distinctive brands that people don’t find everywhere, they need to be surprised when they see us. We also aim for the best possible distribution which, in this day, is crucial for the retailer. It’s very rewarding to see your own brands in the best shops. That makes us happy! We work with 4 people who continuously communicate with our client base. We provide in-house training to retailers and their staff to ensure they know how to sell the product and learn what the brand is all about. We see a huge success in those efforts.

What’s the first feeling you get when you think about YOUR premium store? I would say that YOUR currently is one of the best concept stores in the Benelux. The store has an eclectic mix of brands and products from various different product groups. The store triggers you to buy which is the main force behind the success of the store. You come in the shop looking for a pair of jeans but you can walk out with a funky new headset for your Iphone and the latest fragrance by Creed! That is a strength created by YOUR which many shops would want but not many have…

Please describe what your job is all about. What do you love the most about your job? Our office has a very hands-on mentality, this keeps the organization flat and equal. I mainly focus on sales, brands and key accounts. Maintaining a good relationship with the brands means I have to travel frequently. It’s a mix of being in the office, staying in touch with the retailers by traveling though the Benelux and going abroad to meet new brands see the new collections from our current brands. For TOMS we travel to LA twice a year and PAIGE let’s us travel to NYC. This is a great part of the job!

Can you describe "YOUR" in 3 words?

Innovative / Bold / makes-youwant-to-

What makes the cut in the selection of new brands? Is it heritage? New vision? Beautiful products? Hard to say. I find it more and more important that a brand tells a “story”. That’s where it often starts. People need to connect to the brand, feel they can relate. The competitors are also out there so you have to be cutting edge and new. Something that shows you’re different then the rest – I believe that solotwentyfive is currently following that strategy with PRPS, PAIGE and TOMS

buy!

Is there an added value you bring to the retailers with your brands? (Or are they just kick-ass brands?) I believe this is similar to your previous question. We sell brands that tell a story. Retailers can use this story in the store, visually and also to the customers. The product will connect to the consumer in a different way. We want to bring that little bit extra and not be one-of-many.

That's 7 words Sander... But OK! Thanks! ;-)

PEOPLE

BARBARA Another pretty face walking around our store is the lovely Barbara. A very kind person with a hint of mystery. We did a little Q & A with her, because we want you to get to know her a bit better. We asked her who she is, what she does and best of all why she is "One of the boys".

Please tell us a bit more about yourself, what kind of person are you? Hobby’s? Love to travel? Into fashion?

MOST men don’t like shopping, but somehow we noticed men love shopping at YOUR. Can you explain this phenomenon?

Of course I spend most of my time at the store, which really suits my personality. I’m a cheerful and curious person and I love chatting and sharing a few jokes with our customers, getting to know them a bit. We really get all sorts of people in the store, with all kinds of different styles and nationalities. In my free time I play theatre at a few local theatre clubs and my improvising skills really come in handy helping my clients find their right outfit. Apart from that, I loooove to travel indeed, discover the beauty of new places, nature or city, meeting new people. And yes of course, I love fashion, the feeling of different textures, colours, the way that nice clothing can emphasize one’s natural beauty and personality.

First of all, I think we’re making it easy for them because at YOUR, they can find a whole outfit, head to toe, for any occasion, including a haircut!, in one place, so they don’t have to spend a whole day walking in and out 100 stores. At the same time, they can enjoy a coffee or a glass of cava, and take their time to check the complete collection. And when needed, we are more than happy to support and advise them. It’s always an experience to stop by at YOUR, since we regularly change the look of the store, add new products, and have a different and original offer, for any type or age of men.

How did you become a part of the YOUR staff?

How important is it TO a man to be well-dressed?

Well, actually I graduated as a speech therapist and I’ve been working mostly with children with a mental disorder and children with autism. A very challenging and beautiful job, but I was still so young and still had so many interests. As a fan of art and culture I’ve worked in the Centre for Fine Arts in Brussels, but after a certain time I started to miss Antwerp and its interesting vibe, and I had it with all the train rides. My best friend was looking for a new pair of shoes, and at the Noë by YOUR store she saw the application-poster. So the next day I came to buy myself a new pair of (beautiful black) pumps and handed in my CV. Not much later I was biking everyday to the coolest store in my beloved Antwerp, and I love it! :)

I think the way someone dresses, also reveals a lot of his/her personality and interests, creativity, and of how much someone takes care for his/her own body, which I find very important. Of course, beauty is but skin deep, but I for sure love a well dressed man, someone who gives his own twist to todays fashion - a sexy fragrance is the cherry on the cake! What’s your favourite brand? Do you have any preferred style? Oh dear, do I really have to choose? People should only wear what really suits them, not just because ‘it’s fashion’. But I have a few favorite brands, such as Folk and American Vintage, for their simple yet original design and the fabrics they use, Officine Creative for it’s beautiful craftwork and comfort, in the sporty section I love Fred Perry and Adidas and I’m a big fan of the Italian knowhow and style as in Artu Napoli and Daniele Alessandrini. And as someone who cares for our environment I’m a big fan of Knowledge Cotton Apparel, who combine beauty and comfort with minimal environmental damage.

Walking around at YOUR, its easily to spot your vibrant presence in the Men’s Department. How did you end up there? Are you “one of the boys”? I love the whole concept of YOUR and the positive atmosphere, so to be honest I would have been happy with any job here. But the management was looking for someone who would like to work full time at the Men’s Department, and although I didn’t have much experience in men’s fashion, I decided to accept the challenge. Gio, the floormanager at -1, and I got along instantly, and he has taught me a lot. I find it very refreshing working with all the boys, with their energy and jokes (except when they call me ‘mama’!). I love being a woman, but I sometimes wish I was a man, just to be able to wear some of the items of our beautiful men’s collection! And of course, I won’t deny that it’s uhm... interesting, to help out one of the good looking guys that comes shopping at YOUR! ;)

In which direction would you like to see YOUR Men’s Department, and the presence of Men’s fashion, evolve in THE city of fashion? I hope that more and more brands will have the courage to make fashionable, green and ethical clothes. And in Antwerp, harbour town and home of so many different people since centuries, I think it’s important to keep encouraging individuality and originality.
