Style Smart holiday notes
Don’t attempt to cram your whole beauty kit in your suitcase – all you need are a few carefully chosen products to do the job, saving you money and valuable packing space Great all-rounders
✤ Skincare wipes Leave your bottles of cleanser, eye make-up remover and toner at home and swap for a pack of handy skincare wipes that does all three jobs in one sweep. ✤ Cold Cream Use it as a cleanser, a moisturising mask, a hand cream and a make-up remover. ✤ Balms These multi-use balms are great for soothing sore lips, moisturising rough patches on feet or elbows and much more.
Face savers
We recommend: 1 Nivea Visage Refreshing Facial Cleansing wipes (£2.99 for 25) 2 Pond’s Cold Cream (£4.49/50ml) 3 Champneys Spa Treatment Skin Comforting Miracle Balm (£5/15ml)
✤ BB cream Pack one of these and it will moisturise, blur fine lines, give great coverage and protect your skin from sun damage. ✤ Tinted moisturiser Swap your usual moisturiser and foundation for a tube of tinted moisturiser to give your face a sheer, natural look on holiday. ✤ Mineral powder foundation A wise holiday buy as it will prevent ‘foundation melt’ in the heat and you won’t need powder on top. It protects from sunlight, too.
We recommend: 4 Maybelline Dream Fresh BB cream (£7.99/30ml) 5 No7 Triple Protection Tinted Moisturiser (£12/50ml) 6 No7 Beautiful Skin BB Cream (£12.95/40ml) 7 M&S Perfection Illuminating Tinted Moisturiser SPF15 (£6.50/30ml) 8 Avon Smooth Minerals Powder Foundation (£10.50/6g) 9 The Body Shop Extra Virgin Minerals Powder Foundation (£15/28ml)

ou may have taken some crazy risks when you were a teenager, but several decades later even changing your regular supermarket feels daunting. “It gets harder to take risks as we get older because we are more aware of the dangers,” says Jane Matthews, author of Have the Best Year of Your Life. You know your relationship IN YOUR needs work but you never get round to doing anything about it. Besides, why should it be your job? Surely he should be making more effort too… ✤ Take responsibility Focus on yourself – not on your partner. Ask yourself, ‘What are my emotional needs?’ and write them down. Now look at your list and if some of your needs aren’t being met by your partner, consider some alternatives. For example, if you crave more intellectual stimulation, stop blaming your partner for being dull and instead join a book club or learn a language. “It’s remarkable how other people change when we change ourselves,” says Jane. “Taking responsibility for your own needs, and making a few changes to accommodate them, may be all that’s required to refresh your relationship.” ✤ Look into the future If you know deep down that your relationship has run its course, but are too afraid to do anything about it, try this exercise. “Lie

It has been around for 25 years and sold more than 15million copies worldwide, so it’s got to be worth a try. ✤ Make FOUR lists “This can be great fun if you let your imagination run riot,” says Jane. “Write 20 things I want to do, 20 things I want to see, 20

things I want to experience, and 20 things I want to be. Now commit Sean Covey to doing at least one thing on each list every six months. If you’re worried about keeping to it, tell a few good friends what you’ve done. Making your lists public is a great way to ensure you don’t back out.”

Stop saying you can’t afford it How can you afford a week in Marrakech when you can barely afford a day trip to Morecambe? The answer is to start small. Collect loose change in an old jam jar, then ask friends and family to contribute for birthdays and Christmas. Consider other ways of adding to your savings – why not do a car boot sale or ask your children how to sell on eBay? “By addressing pebbles, not mountains, you are much likelier to meet your goals,” says Dr Steel. now turn the page for more advice YOURS

It’s too late for me to have children now, but there are a lot of young people in my life whom I love – nephews, nieces, the children of close friends. Then, of course, there were my kids on the show. I’m quite a mother figure on Neighbours. It’s very humbling when young people say that because of Neighbours, I’ve been part of their lives and that they’ve grown up with me. It’s lovely.

We have a great bunch of kids working on Neighbours. They’re such fun to work with. They’re passionate about the show, energetic and they invigorate us older ones with their enthusiasm.
I believe that if you feel good you’ll look good. It’s inevitable as we get older that things will start to change – unless you go down the surgery route, of course, but then that takes on a life of its own!
