ROANNE’S RACE SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 1 Roanne’s Race is a dream come to actuality in honor of Roanne Cairel. Before loosing her battle with colon cancer at the age of 24, her friends and family told her they wanted to do something in her name, to honor her. She expressed that she wanted a 5K for colon cancer research and they took that idea and “ran with it.� This is a 5K and 10K run/ walk event that takes place every year on the first Saturday of November, rain or shine. All of the proceeds from the race will be donated to support the research of colon cancer, specifically among young people. The race has rasied over $18,000 for the Colon Cancer Alliance’s newly founded program, “Never Too Young.� Register at RoannesRace. com.
