MARTIN COUNTY — Annabelle Vosko, an eighth-grader at Hidden Oaks Middle School, looks forward to going to school every morning. It wasn’t always that way. “Now there’s no struggle to get her out the door and get going, since she knows she’s going to agriculture, first thing in the morning,” says her father, Matt. Annabelle is one of the thousands of students every year who receive hands-on vocational training through Martin County School District’s Career and Technical Education program (CTE). On Feb. 9, in honor of Career and Technical Appreciation Month, the CTE academies, as well as IRSC, Keiser University, and JROTC, participated in an informational expo in Martin County High School’s gymnasium. The District’s 25 career academies offer middle- and high-schoolers the chance to specialize in subjects like architecture and drafting, veterinarian assisting, culinary arts, auto collision, and computer networking

STUART — A local debate between students from the Clark Advanced Learning Center and Martin County High School was held on Saturday, Feb. 20. This debate was the final round challenging “the best of the best” to debate the question, “Should babies born in the U.S. be considered citizens of the U.S. even if the mothers are in the U.S. illegally?” This question relates to the 14th Amendment. Prior to this debate, three other debates were held. The first debate was held on Feb. 6 at Jensen Beach
High School. The previous debates pertained to questions that related to 1st, 2nd, and 14th Amendments. In addition, one debate covered Article 2, Section 3, “Does the President have the power to refuse to enforce laws passed by Congress which have not been overturned by the Supreme Court?” The Martin County High School (MCHS) team debate coach and interim assistant principal, Kristin Carbone, said she was proud of the students. All three MCHS students are seniors and live in Palm City: Atanaz Bohlooli, Sophia Burvenich, and Sasha Orlovic.
The Clark Advanced Learning Center team teacher, Anna Hutcheson, said she was equally proud of Jennifer Addeo, Nico Panerelli, and John Peterson. Addeo is a senior at Clark and Panerelli and Peterson are juniors. The judges of the debate were Rich Campbell, columnist, Treasure Coast Newspaper; Richard Evans, Director of CCV; Alan Forst, Judge, 4th District Court of Appeals; Laurie J. Gaylord, Superintendent, Martin County School District, and Caroline Philipbar, Director of CCV. Though both sides presented extremely well, only one winner

TRADITION — The 2015 NL Champion New York Mets took the field in Tradition Friday to begin the 2016 Grapefruit League season, and are gearing up for what many of them are saying is going to be a well-expected year for the New York blue, orange and white boys of summer. A new face in camp this year is former Pittsburgh Pirate and current second baseman, Neil Walker. Walker, who was traded to the Mets in December of 2015, signed a one-year deal in January. He told reporters this week he’s really excited to get in the clubhouse, meet the staff and meet the players. “To get in here and settle in is really kind of exciting,” Walker said. “The top thing on my list of why I’m excited to be a Met is to not have to face this pitching staff, even though it only would have been a couple times during the year. We know what we’re capable of and I’m really happy to be a part of it.” Matt Harvey, Noah Syndergaard,
Steven Matz and Jacob deGrom have been described already as one of the best starting rotations in Major League Baseball. Journeyman Bartolo Colon will be filling the fifth spot until the return of power-pitcher Zack Wheeler from Tommy John surgery. Tommy John surgery (TJS), known in medical practice as ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) reconstruction. The procedure is common among collegiate and professional athletes in several sports, most notably baseball. Relievers Antonio Bastardo Addison Reed and Jerry Blevins were also acquired. Asdrubal Cabrera, a two-time all-star signed a two-year contract with the Mets in December, is coming over from the Tampa Bay Rays. In 2015 Cabrera finished with a batting average of .265 in 505 at-bats and 551 plate appearances. The switch-hitter piled up 134 hits, 36 walks, 58 RBIs, 15 dingers and 66 runs scored. Fans will remember Michael Conforto, who hit two home runs in Game 4 of the World Series last year. Conforto said earlier this week it was a blessing to be on this team.

Treasure Coast Food Bank’s March event will pack a mean brunch FOR YOUR VOICE NEWS & VIEWS
STUART — Treasure Coast Food Bank (TCFB) invites the community to Spring Forward for Hunger, a farm-to-table brunch celebrating the spring harvest on March 13, from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The event will be held at Ground Floor Farm, an urban farm in Stuart. “It’s a fresh new way to look at nutritious eating and health,” says Judy Cruz, executive director of TCFB, “and a message to Treasure Coast residents that people can grow their own food for their families and share the abundance with their neighbors.” The menu, curated by Chef Jason Stocks from District Table and Bar, will feature locally grown and sourced food, 99 per cent of which is from Florida. While this is TCFB’s first year putting on the event, they have been in operation for 27 years, and have served 350 agencies in its four-county area. Cruz says
the brunch “ties into the food bank’s core beliefs and mission to promote overall wellbeing and putting good things in your body.” TCFB offers a host of robust programs, says Cruz. Most significant are their child and elderly nutrition services. Not only do they provide fresh food to schools all over the Treasure Coast, they also manage a “backpack” program where children who might go hungry during the weekend can be sent home with a packaged regimen. The backpack program has existed for about 8 years, helping nearly 2,500 children a year. TCFB also provides about 200,000 kids’ lunches every summer. Cruz says that elderly diets are also often not what they should be, so they offer a similar service for that target population as well. All of the products donated through these programs are directly purchased by the food bank, so they can have ultimate control of food quality and nutrition. The menu for the brunch fea-

Yes, your child can OPT-OUT of FSA Letter to the Editor: Yes, your child can OPT-OUT of FSA. Last week I found out there are many parents that do not know their child can opt out of the Florida Standards Assessment (FSA) testing. I did not know this either, until about two years ago. It was confirmed for me when I went to the national opt out of Common Core symposium in Fort Lauderdale last January. It was a true eye-opening experience, with many educators, politicians, and parents to find out the best (and most legal) way to stay away from the socialization of educating our children. This is not an article on the politics of common core, nor the waste of time and money our 50-year-old federal Department Of Education is, though you can see how I lean. This article is about how to have your child not take the overwhelming amount of state tests that is imposed on every public school student. More communication with your school is better than less. Email is always nice, as there is an electronic paper trail. The email can go to the school principal, vice principal, and teacher who need to be told, “my child Kenna (one of my children) will not be sitting for the FSA exams coming up. She has been instructed to log in and that is all (no questions are answered). If it is a paper test, she will fill out her name, date, teacher’s name and that is all.” The rule is if she were to skip test days, the
school will force the makeup day on her, and the same applies to all of the children. On top of that, there are so many makeup days it is almost impossible to keep your child out of school for that much time. I did the numbers, because we were going to try to keep her out of school during make up days and could not keep her out that long. Each school has to have 95 percent of the student population take the FSA in order to get state funding. Is that educational extortion? Has the government crossed the line with the amount of tests the kids take? Is there a money trail to follow? I digress. Here is the email, grammar and all, sent home from her teacher in preparation of the FSA: 1. Your child should be completing at least two iReady math and reading lessons at home each week. It is a homework assignment that is written weekly in their planner. I brought students to the lab today to work on iReady math lessons and I conducted some mini conferences with students who have completed under 5 lessons during this whole quarter. As a whole, the
class is completing more math than reading lessons. Please monitor your child’s participation in these lessons. I will be monitoring this more closely and following up with students. It is VITAL that your child is completing these lessons so that students feel confident with the format and expectations presented. 2. Please remember that your child needs a snack every day! Please send in a healthy snack; a Twinkie and a chocolate pudding is not what provides nourishment and energy for their brain to function. Please consider sending fruit or more a healthy snack for your child to enjoy. Also, if any parent would like to donate snack to keep in the classroom, that would be helpful as well. Today, I had 10 students not bring in snack. 3. Your child has been working on preparing for the FSA writing assessment. We take our test on March 1. Please encourage your child to do their very best during our practice lessons throughout the week. I have been conferring with students and telling them
where they need to focus on. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. 4. Remember that your child’s spelling words are posted the day they test on their spelling words. New words will be given tomorrow morning to the students; however, the new words will be on spelling city as of tonight. Can you feel the pressure the teachers have for their students to do well on the FSA? A recently released report noted no long-term studies can show any significant data about the validity of testing on 4th- or 8th-graders in relation to college success, which is what they say they are testing for. The percentage of parents who would like the amount of testing to be decreased by a significant amount is extremely high. Since I do not have access to polling data yet, I cannot give you exact numbers, but I will end with this: whoever you vote for in November, make sure there is a plan of action from your candidate to end Common Core — otherwise they are just blowing smoke. in an environment that emulates the professional reality of their chosen industry. With most of the courses, graduating seniors will receive an industrial certification, articulated credit with IRSC, and community service hours. A student who’s finished the certified nursing assistant course, for example, will qualify for an entry level position in the field. CTE has been around for decades, but it wasn’t until about 10 years ago when under Florida’s Career and Professional Education Act (CAPE), the program began to be the thorough, career fostering program it is today. “The vocational classes of yesteryear have been revolutionized into more rigorous curriculum that helps students enter the professional market,” says Mark Malham, CTE and curriculum coordinator. This year Annabelle is her school’s CTE student of the year, and next year she plans to attend South Fork’s horticultural academy, which works in collaboration with the Agri-Science program at Hidden Oaks. She is currently learning everything she needs to know to grow and operate a garden: “We have our own garden, and have what’s called a supervised agricultural experience,” she says. “We get to plant anything we want, and Ms. (Karlei) Grier supervises us. She doesn’t tell us what we have to grow or how we have to grow it. It’s like we actually own a farm and are actually growing things, but on a small scale. Eventually we’re going to multiply it, so that it seems like a bigger scale.” The agricultural students at Hidden Oaks not only receive
crucial hands-on experience in the field, they are taught the numerous aspects of the industry as well, from animal cross-breeding to consumer studies, financial planning, and landscape design. “My goal is to make them more aware consumers,” says Grier. “A lot of kids come in saying they’re not interested in agricultural or farming, but I want to help them appreciate agriculture as the backbone of the U.S. economy. The program also opens their eyes to the fact that there are all sorts of jobs in the agricultural field: lawyers, lobbyists, fish and wildlife officers.” Annabelle and her fellow students recently cross-compared consumption and production statistics in different countries around the world. “You look at some of the third world countries,” she said, “and you see they’re producing a lot less and not consuming a lot. You look at our country, and we’re producing and consuming a lot at the same time. We measured the portions in cubic measurement blocs. The U.S. had 20 blocs per consumer, and Africa has like half a block per consumer. So there’s a huge gap, which is interesting.” Guy Power, a Palm City resident who helped pioneer the drafting program at Jensen Beach High School nearly 25 years ago, says the academies “turn on a switch for a lot of the students. What begins as an elective becomes a career. We have so many good programs for these kids to get into, I think they’re learning about stuff they would probably never find out about otherwise.” In addition to learning with software modeling and hands-

When asked about plans for the future, Orlovic’s include seeking an undergrad in Engineering degree in Patent Law. Burvenich will seek a major in Economics and a minor in Political Science. She is waiting to hear from colleges. Bohlooli has been accepted by Duke University and plans to major in Mechanical Engineering and minor in Aerospace. The Clark team did a fantastic job as well. When asked about future plans, Addeo mentioned an interest in Political Science or being a surgeon. She laughed and said, “Kind of like Ben Carson.” Panerelli, who expressed a deep passion and defense on his views, shared his dreams of going into politics or a job in law, possibly becoming a judge. He had no hesitation when asked about a college — the University of Florida is his number-one choice. Peterson shared his future plans in the field of Mechanical Engineering with his choice of college being SMU (Southern Methodist University). Clearly, this very talented group of young adults has a very bright future ahead of them. To prepare for the debate, the students were given a broad series of questions. The students had two months to study using methods such as collaborating, researching, and others to complete an opinion pro and con for each of the questions. Both teams were very passionate in defense of their opinion based
on the 14th Amendment. As parents and spectators watched these “soon to be voters” with pride, each side presented their case with details, citing evidence from past Supreme court cases, such as Plyler v. Doe and Elk v. Wilkins, along with their interpretation of the 14th Amendment. Passed by Congress in 1866 and ratified in 1868, the 14th Amendment, Section One, states, “All persons born or naturalized in the United States and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.” With all the issues of today, we need a strong presidential leader to bring America back. Kathleen Boland, CCV Chairperson said, “Voters need to make decisions based on values and the Constitution. Look at limited government and inferential liberty. People need to be better educated on our rights. We need to get involved and make a difference for the future of our country.” The CCV is a non-profit dedicated to raising awareness and understanding of the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution for Martin County citizens. This liaison between the business community and the schools is highly needed in Martin County, says Elia Parsons, coordinator for CTE. Each academy’s Business Advisory Committee plays a crucial role in that, she says. The South Fork drafting students’ designs, for example, are periodically judged by a panel of professional architects who are partnered with their program. Last year, the veterinarian assisting students at South Fork were able to witness a live operation performed on a sedated tiger brought in by a local vet. One innovation that is especially unique to Martin County is the S3 program which employs information technology students as tech support assistants. Tim Crighton, a senior with MCHS’s Networking Support program, is also a paid employee at Palm City Elementary, where he is called in for Level-1 technical needs. Tim says that everything he learned for the job, he was taught in class, and his current experience will give him the credentials to

find a job just out of high school. “The S3 program allows us to be self-sufficient,” says Malham. With only six professional computer technicians district-wide, it frees up the workload to have students go out and field basic troubleshooting concerns. Malham says the S3 students are indispensable to the district. “The program has become so successful because of the kids, and has proved that if you set the bar, the kids will exceed it.” Commissioner Ed Fielding, who attended the expo said, “The idea behind the event was to try to help young people by facilitating a conversation between employers and graduates. Hopefully, it will not only benefit the students,” he said, “but also recruit skilled talent for the local economy.” Last week, the articulation agreement between the District and Indian River State College was redrafted. Before students received college credits only in their particular study. Now, students are able to apply 15 general education credits to whatever trajectory they wish. This is a great opportunity for students who are interested in applying their focus to interdisciplinary avenues, says Parsons.

And a lot of people want to know where their food’s coming from. They want to make sure they’re eating the best, tastiest, and least treated product,” he said.
It’s not easy for chefs to build their menu around locally-sourced product though, he adds. “You have to develop relationships with farmers. You’re constantly having to change your menu. There’s no way you can have a stagnant menu and cook farm to table, because you have to use what’s available to you.” Regarding the future of TCFB, Cruz stated in a press release that they’re committed to “significantly expanding the volume of the local produce it receives and shares with the community’s most vulnerable populations. But to truly expand, we need to be part of a collective effort to bolster the farms and rural communities in our region and state that grow this food with such passion and dedication.”

PALM CITY — Sometimes horsing around is about serious medicine for the soul. Palm City’s Courage on All Fronts hosted a demonstration of its Equine Assisted Learning program on Sunday, Feb. 21. Alicia Cheplick, president, said horses are helping veterans with post-traumatic stress disorder and troubles adjusting to post-military life. “They learn how they can improve their communication with other people though horses,” she said. Horses give people a good gauge about their tones and body language. If other horses, or people, do things they dislike, horses show it. Equine assisted learning, which involves what equestrians call “ground work,” gives people a chance to get honest opinions about their verbal tones and body language. Ground work is non-riding response training—training a horse to respond to commands. “A lot of veterans have body postures that they don’t even realize they have,” Cheplick said. “Horses,

eral projects Courage on All Fronts is doing. The Cheplicks got into equine therapy for veterans through boarding their horse, Cherokee, in Palm City. The stables, Un-bridled, is a member of the Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Association. It was looking for therapy horses, so the Cheplicks took Cherokee for an audition of sorts. The certified trainers quickly spotted that Cherokee had a good disposition to help the hurting. “I took him over to their place, and he’s been a therapy horse ever since,” Cheplick said. Michael and Alicia Cheplick moved to Palm City from Louisiana last March. He’s a Marine Corps veteran. “Mike was a Marine for nine years,” Cheplick said. “He went to Iraq and Afghanistan.” Tapping their post-military experiences the couple started Courage on All Fronts to help military families and veterans. In addition to sending care packages overseas, the program has three PTSD veterans in training with service dogs. “We actually have the veterans go and choose their dogs from a rescue organization,” Cheplick said. “We adopt them. We have them put under the veterans’ names, but we pay for it. The dogs go (for training) for six to eight months. Once they’re trained, they’re placed in the home.”

The service-dog program is supported with the help of Palm City’s LCpl Justin J. Wilson (US Marines) Memorial Foundation, better known as Justin’s Wings. The ride with 40-, 56-, 80- and 105-mile routes will be on March 20, taking off from the Lance Cpl. Justin Wilson Memorial Park, 2050 S.W. Mapp Road, Palm City. Courage on All Fronts will be on hand to introduce participants to the service-dog program they’re helping support. In the proposal, the company says Florida’s economic rebound will create a demand for electricity and the low cost of natural gas makes it a shoe in for affordable energy in the near future. “Natural gas prices are historically low, encouraging increased use of the clean, affordable, American produced fuel,” the proposal states. FPL says their fuel consumption has shifted, and natural gas is overcoming oil as the predominantly used energy fuel. “FPL has a system-wide need for more natural gas and has replaced old, oil-burning plants with cleaner, efficient energy centers that generate more power with less fuel,” according to the proposal. Aside from efficiency, FPL’s numbers state a 98-percent reduction in oil consumption, down to fewer than 1 million barrels in 2012 from a 2001 high of more than 40 million barrels. The pipeline, which will carry more than 600 million cubic feet of natural gas per day by 2020, is 127 miles long. About 12 miles of the pipeline will cross through Martin County, and impact areas that are home to diverse and delicate ecology. Officials close to the project, however, say the impact is negligible. The pipeline length in Martin County is 11.6 miles, proceeding almost due south from the St. Lucie County boundary and terminating at the FPL Plant. No impacts to county designated wetland preserve areas are proposed. “The pipeline will be crossing under a very small portion of upland preserve located at, and associated directly with, the FPL plant site, but it has been designed to be installed via a Horizontal Directional Drilling method, which will effectively install the pipeline deep enough under the ground that no impacts to the overlying upland area will occur,” explained Martin County planner

The Florida Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) assesses the environmental impacts of such projects and makes recommendations based on those findings. The FERC concluded that this project would pose a lasting environmental impact on the lands it crosses, but it would not be a major one. “We determined that construction and operation of SMP Project would temporarily and permanently affect the environment. However, if the SMP Project is constructed and operated in accordance with applicable laws and regulations, the mitigating measures discussed in this EIS, and our recommendations, the project would not result in a significant impact on the environment,” said Sarah Gatehouse, a spokesperson for the project, who says nothing was done without feedback and consideration from the public. “It’s a very involved and very long project,” she said. “A lot of people had input on where exactly the pipeline would be routed. We made adjustments and changes based on public input.” The project, now, is in the midst of the approval waiting game. A final environmental impact statement from FERC is pending as well as permitting from the Army Core of Engineers. When those permits are in, construction will begin. “The timeline is to get some decisions on these permits so they can start construction later this year,” Gatewood said. FPL estimates the pipeline will generate nearly 9,000 new jobs during its construction and generate more than $1 billion in tax revenue over the next 60 years. The entire project is a nearly $4 billion investment. Though open houses and public forums had been held over the past three years, Gatewood says no new events are scheduled for public input on the project. come up to it, you know you’re in for something amazing. There is a huge canopy of oaks peppered with orchids. As you go through, the fragrance of rose bushes and jasmine is beautiful. MARTIN COUNTY — Everyone dreams of a secret garden, a place to hide away from the cares of the world. On March 12-13, the Garden Club of Stuart presents eight special gardens in its “Secret Gardens” tour. There are 7 private gardens and one award-winning church garden. Three of the gardens are in Palm City. Co-chairs Kathy Chartier and Jan Crandall were responsible for putting this year’s tour together, although they had a great deal of help. Chartier spoke about what made a garden “tour-worthy.” “There are a variety of factors,” she said. “They must be in accordance with our philosophy, which supports being environmentally correct.” That means that plants that are used in the garden should be appropriate for Florida, with no invasive species. “Many of our members are Master Gardeners,” Chartier said. “Over the years we’ve used a network of nursery owners, landscapers, and landscape designers throughout Palm City, Stuart and Jensen Beach to suggest gardens that would be tour-worthy. I started looking in April and stopped looking last week. We looked at 60 gardens over 10 months. It’s not only that they look nice and someone goes, ‘Wow!’ We wanted to pick

They have information on them. We also have Master Gardeners on call to answer questions about plants that are not on the tour. People can learn quite a bit if they are interested, or they can come and see the pretty gardens.” Proceeds from the tour, which is only offered every other year, go to support community programs for the following two years. They include educational programs in schools, scholarships for high school seniors pursuing horticultural studies, tree planting on Arbor Day and the maintenance of certain community gardens, including those at Treasure Coast Hospice. “When my husband was there, I found those gardens a source of peace and I never knew who made them so beautiful,” said Chartier. In the year when there is no tour, the Garden Club sponsors a

flower show which is paid for by funds from the tour. While the tour is March 12-13, visitors can take the tour in one day or split it into two. It runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily. For Chartier, who lives in Toronto much of the year, the Garden Club has taught her a great deal. “Gardening is like night and day,” she said. “Everything grows so fast here.” The Garden Club of Stuart presents its “Secret Garden Tour” March 12-13. Local actress has deep roots in arts community STAFF WRITER

STUART – Louise LeTourneau has been involved in the performing arts on the Treasure Coast for many years. A native of Quebec, her family moved to Elkhart, Indiana just before she began kindergarten because her father was in the railroad industry and Elkhart was a railroad hub. An only child, she had all the lessons a young girl had, from ballet and jazz and tap to piano and flute. Her interest in theater began when an English teacher came to the school and decided to stage “Bye, Bye, Birdie.” LeTourneau, who had concentrated on dancing, realized she could act as well and she fell in love with the theater. “I kept taking lessons, and as a junior in high school, I won an award to send me to a summer theater program at Indiana State in Terre Haute,” she said. “I applied and got in. There was a
group of wonderful folks. Things came easily and I didn’t have to claw and fight as hard for roles.” In 1974, during a particularly snowy winter, a friend suggested they move to Florida and join the dinner theater circuit. “I didn’t want to go to New York (for theater),” she said. “I liked the dinner theater idea. We ended up in Jupiter because our car broke down and my friend knew someone who had a place to stay. We took waitressing jobs. I stayed in Florida and connected with a dance studio in Jupiter.” LeTourneau was cast in a production of “Sweet Charity” in Jupiter and her career began. “We put on a rip-roaring ‘Sweet Charity’ and it was a springboard,” she said. A man saw me and asked me to audition for a new group. It was Rick Allen, a friend of Burt Reynolds. Burt Reynolds wanted to bring theater to Florida. We started in Port Salerno on the Shrimper’s property. It was the Manatee Dinner Theatre.” LeTourneau was in charge
of the apprentice program and Burt Reynolds brought in acting friends. “It became an Equity house,” she said. “They had Maureen O’Sullivan, Judy Carne, Lou Jacobi and James Best. When Burt came to direct ‘Bus Stop,’ he brought Sally Field, his girlfriend, to star with Robert Urich. I was the assistant director.” Reynolds was slated to star in and direct the movie “The End” and he asked LeTourneau to fly out to Los Angeles to appear in it. Her role as a receptionist to actor Norman Fell earned her a Screen Actors’ Guild card. “It was a really fun experience, but I didn’t know if I was a big city sort,” she said. “I liked it here and I’d fallen in love here. I knew I wanted a family and I was a bigger fish here with better work here.” LeTourneau married into the Conant family in 1978. Her in-laws, Roger and Minabelle Conant, were involved with the

LETOURNEAU from page 29 Barn Theatre. While raising two daughters, LeTourneau helped out at the Barn Sumer camp and did workshops. She also performed at the Riverside Theatre. Now, LeTourneau is a grandmother and relishes the role. She gives private lessons in piano and voice and teaches music one day a week at Redeemer Lutheran Church. She also works at the Pawnbroker. “When you do show business, you have to do something else,” she said. “It can’t be 9-5. That’s why you do restaurant work. It’s very social and it is entertainment.” LeTourneau is also called upon several times a year as an adjudicator for students from all over the state who come to the Stuart School of Music to perform. “It was a good thing,” she said of her life in theater. “I have many great memories, great experiences, good and bad. I am able to teach my grandchildren and turn them on to those things. I was fortunate I could have my cake and eat it, too. LeTourneau isn’t finished with her performing career. “I still have a dream,” she said. “I’d love to play a villainess, the nastier, the more dramatic (the better.) I enjoy directing dramas. I directed ‘Streetcar’ at the Barn.
