YOUTH IN REVOLT

Size four models that look like they haven’t had a bad hair day or a zit in their entire life, celebrities airbrushed beyond recognition, one thousand and one ways to get an orgasm, articles encouraging girls as young as thirteen to go out dressed in little more than a hanky, a one thousand five hundred dollar scarf advertised as a wise investment, girls ‘dressed’, posed and photographed for the pleasure of perverted old men and pubescent little boys, 20 question quizzes that will determine the rest of your life, miracle diets and miracle creams. That’s not life that’s a glossy magazine. Life’s is an amazing, beautiful, eye opening journey, a learning process through which we gather the knowledge and experience required to pass from this life into the next. Youth in Revolt will evoke thought, feeling and discussion from start to finish, life will never be a glossy magazine but this, is progress. This is YOUTH IN REVOLT.

YOUTH IN REVOLT

I’m 20 turning 21 in April, which makes me an Aries. I love pandas and kittens. I have braces. I’m not a conventional writer, I’m an emotive writer. I want to make you feel something -happy, sad, angry, offended, disgusted, enlightened, shocked, whatever! I have a lot of opinions and one day they’ll probably get me into trouble. I believe in creative people encouraging and helping each other in anyway they can. I still have a lot to learn. I’m very unorganised and my room occasionally resembles a tip. I dabble in mixed media, I enjoy dancing to hip hop and when I was younger I wanted to be a dolphin, a mermaid, a detective or a geologist and now I want to be an entrepreneur. I once ate a large double Quarter Pounder with two sides of onion rings and it was amazing. I’m pretty funny (or at least I like to think so). I’m a romantic. I’m pretty good at air hockey and I drink too much V. I’m a big fan of scrambled eggs and almost any type of cheese. When I own my own house I want to have my own personal library filled with all my favourite books. Writing is second nature to me, like breathing, and Youth in Revolt is mine and Olivia’s baby.

“I see beauty in that which people perceive as ugly. My eyes see what others do not, like a deaf child screaming secrets underwater. Eyes say more than the words your tongues excite. I see the changing faces of a paralyzed skull. I capture the visual memories of ghosts as they leave them behind. It is always the soul who reads to me a different story. Angels whisper secrets in my ear.” ~ Olivia Mróz Hidden meanings and symbolisms /// Anything stimulating to all six senses /// Human Oddities /// Contrasting colours /// Negative photography /// False Hope /// Self Destruction /// Disorders /// Troubled Souls /// Fate /// Cats /// Angels /// Astrology /// Healing /// Extrasensory perception /// Creating 3

Jenny Crook By: Olivia Mróz

A 40’s, 60’s and 70’s gal- Jenna Crook is a inconsistent twenty year old Aries from Canada. The love of her life is her brown Labrador and always over pronounces the t’s in ‘buttons’ and ‘mittens’. Her favorite artist is Leif Podhajsky. She creates because she won’t be satisfied until she brings the image she is trying to see in her head into a physical reality. She plays with ouija boards, likes the smell of dampness, paint and coffee, and eats the little piece of skin she bites off from around a hangnail. Her paintings are pretty much always oil paint. For her drawings she uses; mechanical pencils, bic pens, conte, charcoal and willow sticks. Jenna also plans a lot of her work in photoshop, and tends to collect and use found wood. She has also been working with a lot of symmetry and patterning, as well as mixing collage imagery and painting.

The Real Series #2 The Drug Dealer and His Girlfriend By: Nicole Daphne

The Drug Dealer My drug life only started a little over two years ago but over that time I have taken a fuck load of drugs both prescription and illegal, all done in a social environment to get high as fuck and smoke myself stupid. It went from recreation to habit relatively quickly, smoking weed every day because I enjoyed it too needing it to go to sleep. Other then weed I’ve also experimented with and dealt speed, ice, pills, GHB, coke and MD caps. On a good day I can have it all at my finger tips with just one phone call. I’ve never completely pushed my limits because being a drug user is a bit like being led down a rabbit hole, you never know where you’re going to come out on the other side. It’s hard because I’m also a drug dealer and feel the need to keep up with my clients and being a drug dealer who takes his own gear, it often gets hard to say no. You’d think the things I’ve seen rush chucks (when you ping to hard and your body needs to get rid of the substance through vomiting), blow outs from too much G, green outs from too much weed, come downs, erratic behaviour and paranoia would deter me from this type of lifestyle but I suppose because I’ve only witnessed most of these things and not actually experienced them myself my views on drugs remain optimistic. I have greened out a couple of times and I’ve had two seizures as a result of mixing weed and other substances, but nothing serious enough to make me stop and question what I’m doing to myself. I gave up smoking weed because my girlfriend hated that I had become dependent on it, it’ll take something bigger than that to make me give up everything else though. Drugs aren’t all bad, a friend once shared with me this quote, “His an honest man.” “His a drug dealer!” “Yes. As I said. He’s honest. People need drugs, he just acknowledges that simple truth. It’s hardhere.Peopleneeddrugs.”–Ithinkthere’salotoftruthtothat.Drugshaven’taffectedmethatmuch,apartfrommyabilitytoparty, my perspective on the world and the amount of cash in my pocket and no I don’t think I’m addicted but if I did, do you really think I’d admit it to you? YOUTH IN REVOLT

Sex for Pleasure VS Sex for Love There are plenty of people out there in the world who you’d happily have sex with, but how many of them would you actually sit down and have a coffee with? Or, more to the point, which is easier: fucking for love, or for pleasure? In this day and age, where woman have fought tooth and nail for equality and the right to their own bodies, why on Earth would you want to jeopardize that with the notion that sex is all about love, or rather, should only be between two people who deeply love each other? Now, don’t get me wrong, if two people love each other, and are committed to each other, then, granted the sex is going to be good, and frequent. However, many of us are single lads and ladies, and, to be quiet blunt, we can’t wait around for Mr Right when our loins are burning. I’m going to make a bold statement here, and say quiet proudly that, unless you’re a chaste Mormon awaiting your wedding night to share yourself with your husband in holy matrimony, sex purely for love’s sake is a load of shit. That idea is simply loose stool water; arse gravy of the worst kind, and, if you’re going to hold out and wait for that day when someone will sweep your off your feet and into your bed, then I’m afraid you’re going to be waiting for quiet awhile. Best ensure you’re the owner of a discount card for your local Club X just to see you through. One of the reasons I can see why people refrain from sexual escapades of any kind, and wait until ‘I do,’ is because of this stigma in society of the word ‘slut.’ Yes, we all know someone who is a slut, don’t we? But, what is it that makes a hoe a hoe? Is it someone who gets out there, who sleeps around and has a good time? Because, honestly, isn’t that what we all want to do? And, more importantly, that’s just normal. It’s human nature to have sex. We’re programmed

to want it, to need it, and to seek it out like our Neolithic cousins did once upon a time. Here’s the deal: sex is good. It feels great, it burns calories, it’s great cardiovascular exercise, and it’s a fantastic stress reliever. More to the point, it’s great fun. And it’s natural. So why would you want to deprive your body of that? I once went 8 months without any form of action of any kind, and it got to the point where I had to either check myself in at the nearest nunnery, or grab the bull by the proverbial horns, and get jiggy with it. And I did, with a DJ boy from a club I used to frequent a few months back. I laid my cards on the table, told him what I was after, and that he was purely being used for his body. Being a guy, he didn’t care in the slightest, and we had an amazing night. I don’t feel bad about it, and I don’t feel any shame in sharing this story with you readers. Because, why should I? It was awesome! It should be happening more often and, as long as you are free of any sort of genital crustacean or wart, then you should be out there too. Long story short: sex is GOOD. Sex for love is fine, if you happen to be in love. But, if you’re not, then sex for pleasure is essential to the wellbeing of any human being. We need to get over this idea that sex should be saved for the honeymoon suite, and we need to stop labelling people ‘whores’ and ‘sluts’ just because they give in to their sexual needs and desires. And, let’s be frank, if you’re spending your time worrying about what other people’s nocturnal activities are, then you seriously need to get laid. By Madeleine Stuchbery

YOUTH IN REVOLT

SEX STORIES, FIRST TIMES AND SEX CONFESSIONS My first time wasn’t exactly a time to remember but it was an experience and we learn from every experience. If i could change it, I would and make it more romantic and meaningful but it obviously meant something at the time. - Hopeful. One time I banged this girl on my friends couch, had to do it with my jocks on in case anyone walked in. Got blood all over them. She said it must have been mine because her period ended yesterday. Not sure how I could bleed on the outside of a condom. - Bloody liar. I always speak really passionately about how much I hate the idea of anal and cringe in disgust when anyone brings it up or suggests it, secretly though I’d love to try it one day and thinking about it makes me really wet. - Dirty girl. I’m pretty sure it was a week or so before I turned seventeen. I was at a party, I was drunk and so was my boyfriend of two weeks. We drunkingly started making out (as you do). We went behind the house, he pulled up my skirt and fucked me against the brick wall. I never felt so much pain in my life (I would have hated to experience that sober, as being drunk numbs senses). I bled all over the white pebbles and down my legs. The condom was blueberry flavoured. Once it was over everyone kept asking if I was okay beacuse of the blood on my legs. I told them I cut myself on glass. - Perfect first time. We were house sitting for his best mates parent’s house when it

happened. I was standing in the kitchen and jokingly asked if he brought condoms. He almost choked on the noodles he was eating. Before I knew it, he was out the door and running back to his house. Being the n00bs we were, missionary was our first instinct. It was slow at first, a little painful and somewhat awkward. I’m quite positive I starfished the poor boy throughout the whole experience. Unsurprisingly, it was over within minutes. It definitely wasn’t a scene from RedTube that’s for sure, but letting my virgin days fly with someone I trusted couldn’t have been a better decision. - Jess. When I masturbate I imagine the guy I’m thinking about at the time calling me derogative names like ‘slut’ and ‘whore’ and it really gets me off, but if any guy was to actually call me those things during sex I’d woop his arse. - Naughty girl. I have always believed in the power of love. I waited until I was 22 for my first time. I hadn’t known her long, and turning her offer down just days before (the first night we shared a bed), I didn’t expect it would happen that night. I saw potential in her, in us. Modern culture and its attitude towards sex and love ties them inextricably, though they have very different faces. Sex is just some fun. Love is real. And yet if you do it with someone you love, sex becomes so much more. Movies and modern culture corrupted the idea of love for me. And yet the moment I had waited for was given up quickly. I do not regret it at all though. For that potential I saw in that amazing girl blossomed into love. I am very happy now. It didn’t exactly turn out like in the movies, but it was special in its own way. For me, it was perfect. - Sweetheart. 24

YOUTH IN REVOLT

My ex turned abusive because I’d never allow anal, while we were having sex he’d ram his thick cock in anyway. Enough was enough! Sick of it happening without my consent, I yelled “How about I shove something up your arse?!” He was all for it and handed me a new pencil. Just before I put it in he said “Don’t use the rubber end!” He’d ask me to stop every couple of seconds, I stopped listening... - Pencil girl Now I’m as straight as they come, don’t roll your eyes! I’m dead serious. But one crazy drunken night shit got wild and I woke up in bed with two other girls like ah fuck what did I do last night? Instead of loosing my head over it though, I grabbed my gear, said ciao to the two lovely ladies (who were both very attractive and very sweet) and was on my merry way. Random bits and pieces of that night always come back to me at the strangest times and all I can do is laugh. When in Rome! - Curious. I once gave head to a random guy down some seedy alley way two minutes from the club where I met him. He kept telling me to go deeper and kept pushing his cock further and further into the back of my throat, I ended up throwing up on his dick but didn’t want him to know so I swallowed it all back down. Brutal. - Till I vomit. When I’m alone in an elevator with someone attractive, male or female, I get the urge to push them up against the elevator wall and have my way with them. The idea of having sex with a complete stranger in an elevator and then walking out like nothing ever happened really excites me. - Elevator love. They say size doesn’t matter. Bullshit! I’ve had my share of little cock. And they’re never who’d you expect either. At least the larger boys can slam you with what it’s worth. Sorry boys but size does matter. - Large and thick.

I’ve had my share of one night stands. And by share I mean two. I can honestly say I rather have sex with someone I love than someone I picked off the street. Not that it ‘means more’ but because it feels better. - Experienced. I get off on being dominated, I love when they bite down hard on my nipple while I’m coming and sadly I have never came purely from sex. - Whips and chains. I tend to masturbate a lot more when I’m depressed. Something to do with endorphins or some shit. - Depressed. I love giving head. I don’t understand why some girls hate doing it? Sure, all the guys I’ve given head to I’ve been in a relationship with and I’m usually giving head in return for the same treatment but I really do enjoy doing it, honestly. ‘That thing’ gives us endless amounts of pleasure ladies! So suck it up, It’s the least we can do! - Sucker. I’m a pretty shy, quiet girl and everyone thinks I’m really innocent but the truth is I love sex and when I’m not having sex I’m masturbating at least three times a week. There’s nothing more healthy than enjoying and exploring your own body and it’s a great tension reliever. If more people masturbated regularly I think there would have a lot less grumpy people walking around. - Bean flicker. This one time I was having sex with this guy and he finished before me and I didn’t realise so I kept going, he was like “I’m finished” and I was like “Oh...” to which he responded with a huge raspberry in my face! At the time I was mortified but now I think about it and laugh. - Raspberry surprise.

If someone gave you too much change at a store, and you knew they did, would you keep it? Yes, I don’t believe in karma.

What do you do? Hairstylist. Who’s your favorite artist? At the moment Troy Paiva.

If you could offer a newborn child only one piece of advice, what would it be? Go back in.

What’s the most embassasing thing you’ve done/seen? The fact you spelt embarrassing wrong.

What’s your sexual fantasy? I don’t think there are any fantasies, only your own conscience and limits blocking making it a reality.

What would you do differently if you knew nobody would judge you? Nothing, I think people who judge someone without getting to know them aren’t worth knowing.

Do you have any fetishes? Some people’s fetishes are some people’s norms.

What inspires you? Originality. Do you beleive in God? No, logic. What revolts you? Lack of spirit or drive.

How do you feel about cannibalism? If you’re hungry, desert island shit, do it.

What’s your favorite sound/smell/ touch/taste? Sex.

Do you believe in true love? Yes, it happens. 42

What do you do? I help take care of my grandpa that had a stroke back in March 2011.

Have you been the kind of friend you want as a friend? Nope! I can be pretty distant, abrasive, and a bit rude. Luckily, I have friends that really don’t mind it, but I’m an overly sensitive person deep inside. I wouldn’t be comfortable around someone like me.

Do you have any animals? We have six cats, two bearded dragons, and a really annoying beagle. What’s the most embarrassing thing you’ve done/seen? Last year I was given anti-depressants and was only able to take them for a month (which was bullshit because it didn’t help anything), but it was enough time to experience a side effect. One day my ex-boyfriend and I had a bunch of friends over to hang out, we were all sitting outside packing bowls and I thought it would be considerate if I closed the window so the smoke didn’t blow into the house. As I went to close the window I ended up experiencing anal leakage. I was able to waddle inside quickly, clean myself up, change without

anyone knowing except for my boyfriend who was in the washroom at the time. Doesn’t matter though, I told everyone when I went back outside and we all laughed about it. 44

What would you do differently if you knew nobody would judge you? I would no longer hold back what I think and feel about people that hang out in the same group of friends I’m in. I’m only nice to them because they’re mutual friends and it’ll make for tense future hang outs if we’re all together. Although, there are very few where I don’t hide my distaste for their shitty behavior and I refuse to feel bad about it when I’m warm towards them. What’s your favorite thing to blog about?

YOUTH IN REVOLT

I typically don’t blog about any topics. I just write silly things about myself, post pictures (usually of myself nude), so I guess my favorite thing to blog about is myself. What inspires you? Travelers, beautiful forest landscapes, camping scenery all hits my heart heavily. I ache to get out and see those things, it’s constantly inspiring me to want to explore. Do you believe in God? I don’t know. For the past year I’ve been going through a bit of a crisis dealing with God, our body and soul and what happens when we die. I’m still just as confused as ever. Have you ever seen anything die? As far as I know, I have only seen one person die. I’m pretty sure I saw a dead person on the street before, but it was never confirmed. My grandma had a long battle with cancer and by the end of it she was delusional from all the medication to ease her pain. She fell off her bed and I think it caused a bunch of bleeding in her brain or something... my family doesn’t talk to me about an-

ything. Anyway, I watched her die. The worst part is that for a week or so before she fell down, the whole upstairs of the house where she spent her time smelt like death. You’d know it if you smelt it.

What’s your favorite sex position? Doggy-style with my face being shoved into the bed. I get off on being submissive and I find it to be one of the most submissive positions when not tied down.

How old would you be if you didn’t know how old you are? Maybe 13 because I’m pretty immature in most of my ways, surround myself with things from my childhood, watch silly young teen movies and shows, and still make lots of fart and poop jokes.

Do you have any fetishes? I don’t really consider them fetishes because I feel fetishes are something that you need to do during sex or whatever to get off, but I have kinks which I think are things that add to the experience.

Are you sick in any way? Diagnosed with depression, undiagnosed (but brought to my attention by a social worker and my father who grew up with his mother being borderline) with borderline personality disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder. I’m sure there are many reasons as to why, but the main thing it all goes back to is experiencing childhood sexual abuse. Scoliosis hardly counts, but the chiropractor I was seeing for a short while said she’s surprised I’m not in a lot more pain and walking with a big limp due to my curvature.

Spit or swallow? I mostly swallow if they taste good. No reason other than I want/like to. I have been known to spit it out on their stomach if they have a putrid taste.

45

Are you a virgin? If not, how old were you when you lost your virginity? I accidentally experienced my first dick in me when I was 14, but didn’t experience my first time until a few weeks later. We were taking a shower together at his house to get ready to go to a show. We were slipping all over each other, getting re-

ally heated, and he pressed me against the cold shower tiles. He placed his dick between my ass cheeks and we both started grinding, his hands all over me from behind. Our alignment was off when he went too far down, because when he went to thrust up between my cheeks again and I went to grind down, he missed and poked me. It was only for a second, but I felt like I was being impaled. I had never experienced anything bigger than a tampon in me. I yelped, we both jumped away from each other, I whipped around to shoot him a glare and ended up spitting a huge dirty wad on his chest. I couldn’t react to the pain in any other way than to spit on him. He apologized, we laughed, and finished cleaning up. That was it. After the show and the long subway and bus ride home I noticed after I stepped off the bus that there was a trail of blood down my thighs and peeking out from under my skirt. When I got to my room I peeled off my white panties to discover them covered in blood. I will never forget that image.

lust, experimentation, loneliness, wanting to feel desired, just because I wanted to. Do you masturbate? How often? I do masturbate! It varies from time to time. I can go over a month without wanting to touch myself to masturbating a few times in a day. Fluctuates a lot due to depression and how I’m feeling about myself. Have you ever had sex with a person significantly older or younger than yourself? I think the oldest person I’ve had sex with was 4 years older than me. I had sex with them because I really liked them which grew into love and an on-off relationship for 5 years. I don’t know the youngest, I’m pretty certain no one has been significantly younger than me. Have you ever been paid for sex? I haven’t, but it doesn’t like a bad deal ;) Sex toys? I love sex toys! They can be so fun by yourself or with a partner(s) My current favorite is my Hitachi Magic Wand. My recent lover used to tie me down and force me to have orgasms with it. Great way for people to explore themselves and others :)

How many sexual partners have you had to date? Over 10. Many reasons. Love, 47

Describe your sound. Mixture of old folk music with punk rock, I always loved punk but never had anyone to play it with so I just started playing acoustic punk, but then dad introduced me to bob dylan and it just opened a whole new world to me. Describe a typical jam session. Sex (with myself) drugs, booze, and the occasion song being written. What are your creative influences? Honestly coffee, cigarettes, the occasional psychedelics, weed, my friends, booze, and the local music scene. Some of my favourite bands are local acts, and they tend to be more inspiring then any famous band I know of. What revolts you? I can be a bit of a misanthropist, but only towards those who are ignorant, closed minded or generally fucking stupid. People who say they don’t judge anyone are liars, we judge everyone on everything, it’s not a bad thing, it just helps us distinguish who or what will make us happy. Maybe revolt is a bit of a strong word, but people like that revolt me. Where do you see yourself in the next couple of years? Optimistically I’d like to have a proper album out soon, and playing with a lot more local bands. Still waiting for some artwork to be done on an EP and I need to re record a few songs, change some things around, so hopefully that will all be down and available by the end of the year…providing the mayans were wrong. Whats the best thing about playing shows? The energy you get. Everyone watching you, with me it’s always nerve racking as all hell at first, but once the first chord is strummed or the first note on the harmonica is blown it’s like you leave reality. In the end I guess it’s just another drug. Also, I don’t like to be 100% sober before I go on stage. . 52

Le Toys of Sexy.

YOUTH IN REVOLTS ANSWER TO TOY TESTING. Why should the kids get all the fun? Magic Hand Massage Glove I personally had high hopes for the Magic Hand Message Glove but sadly for me it didn’t deliver. Stories of the glove’s sensual and erotic massages heightening an individual’s sexual pleasure to new heights mislead me to believe that a couple minutes with the glove would send me into complete ecstasy but in my opinion you’d be better off telling your partner to take the glove off and get in there the old fashion way. That said that’s just my personal opinion and if you’re curious to test it out yourself don’t let my crappy review change your mind, you’ll never know for sure if it’ll work for you unless you try it yourself and to be honest I don’t think I’d say no to giving it another go.

Orgasmatron Designed by an Australian the Orgasmatron is designed to gently massage the pressure points located around the head and back of the individual’s neck. Stimulating these pressure points results in a tingling sensation throughout the individual’s body causing excitement and arousal. Visually the Orgasmatron is quite odd looking and this can turn some people off, however if you can move past the Orgasmatron’s misleading appearance it’s a great way to get you and your partner in the mood and I personally thought it was great. 63

Karma Sutra Cards Karma Sutra cards are fun, cute and cheeky, a great gift idea for a partner or even a friend. If you and your partner already own karma Sutra cards but haven’t yet put them to good use I suggest placing all the cards face down and taking turns at picking one at random and trying out the position that’s revealed when you turn it over. It can be a lot of fun but don’t try them all at once. You don’t want to break something!

Nut Busters DVD Watch in entirety for its comic value or skip to the good bits if you’re looking for a purely sexual release. My opinion on porn has and always will be, why pay money for something you can get for free on the Internet? The porn you find in sex shops is often regular porn dressed up using a poor story line and a low budget and even if you’re into that sort of thing you can find that on the Internet for free too. It’s hard to be overly critical of any type of porn though, after all is there really such a thing as bad porn? With some exceptions of course.

Vibrator Shopping for a vibrator is the new shoe shopping! Nowadays there is such a large variety of vibrators available out there, in all different sizes and colours, coming with all sorts of functions and attachments that purchasing a vibrator now feels a lot like purchasing a new pair of Jeffry Campbell heals and I’m sure that’s a feeling we’re all more than ok with. I think it’s great that more woman are embracing the art of masturbation with an electronic aid and I think it’s even better that men and woman are embracing its use during foreplay, the more adventurous and sexually open among us have been doing it for a while now! Bout time y’all jumped on board and reaped the rewards!

Handcuffs The function of handcuffs I think is pretty straight forward, how you choose to utilise them in the bedroom requires at little more imagination though. defiantly a foreplay staple. -It’s depicted everywhere; on TV, in movies, magazines etc, it’s become quite the cliche’. If you wanna get really creative guys should try a hand cuff, vibrator combination on their ladyfriends and ladies you should take the opportunity to tease your man till he begs you to be released, the wait will probably be just as torturous for you but he’ll be so worked up by the time you finally release him that he’ll give you the best fucking of your life.

Letters to Lovers A dedication to lovers and the letters they write.

Lily, I have missed you greatly – despite you being further away from me then you have ever been. I can no longer go to the old movie theater and watch Star Wars with you nor can we stay up past 2 in the morning and play Scrabble. I know you left because you had to, because you had to get away from everyone here; you warned me before we got serious, but I thought you were lying and now I understand. My eyes are now open and I see what you were saying. But Lily, I just wished that you missed me as much as I miss you. I was never a soppy romantic until you showered me with your love. I just miss you Lily, I wish you could come back – just this one time. Rose.

Dear boy, I wanted to write to you. I wanted to write to tell you just how sorry I am. I wanted to say I’m sorry about the way I reacted. I’m sorry if I made things awkward. I never loved you. It was just a physical attraction, it was lust. Last night I wanted to cry, cry over you. But I didn’t, I couldn’t, you weren’t worth it, you don’t deserve my tears. Besides; you never hurt me. It was only lust, right? Correction: I wanted to entwine legs with you at night so I knew you were there. It is lust. Nothing more. If i could find the words to describe the way you made me feel over the past 5 days, I’d shove them all in a tiny box and gift wrap them for you. I just can’t take no for an answer. Too cool to care? Everything always has two sides. Here I am bleeding my mind black and blue for you, and there’s no input back. No consideration. You made me feel words that are indescribable, but it wasn’t love, no where close. Just attraction. And now I give up, nothing ever goes my way, and this is no different. You never wanted to hear my side of the story to tell. Never let me have my say. I thought we could have worked it out, come to an agreement, but i guess i was wrong. You never wanted to know what I had to say. You can have what’s left of me now. If you want it, it’s not much. But you can. I feel nothing for you now. But we can build on a new foundation, a clean slate. Because I still love you as a friend, and I always will. Love E. 69

YOUTH IN REVOLT

Dear Panda, You’re asleep right now and I’m awake, which isn’t out of the ordinary really because you always seem to fall asleep before me these days. I find sleep difficult for a lot of reasons, work, stress, anxieties and general restlessness. Mostly though, over thinking, which sometimes can be a combination of all of the above but other times involves a total lack of any understanding of what it is I’m actually thinking about? I don’t know if this is because I often find myself at night when I should be sleeping trying to decipher several different emotional, moral and social conundrums at once or whether it’s the hasty process of which I do it in that results in what can only be described as a cluster fuck (thank you Dane Cook) ultimately making me the owner of one increasingly inconsistent sleeping pattern and no graspable reason why. -Exhibit a) Describing how I came to be on your laptop at 11:40pm typing this to you in the most elaborate way possible. It makes for an interesting read, sure, but try thinking like this all the time or at least a lot of the time. It’s like having a tiny ongoing headache, making it more annoying and painful then a migraine because it has no foreseeable ending. This is one reason I envy you and also admire you. He who can so easily detach himself from the things us simple folk let temporarily turn us into emotionally stunted human beings. The way in which you remain calm and unaffected in the face of trivial bullshit and even more so the way in which you (unknowingly I would assume) extend that calmness on to me by simply embracing me in your arms will be something I am both eternally jealous of and grateful for. It is not often you find someone who can turn your thoughts and insecurities off like a switch, forcing you to feel rather than think, but I have and all I can offer in return is my unconditional love. –Which I’m sure you’re already aware you have but let me reiterate anyway… Admittedly I sometimes over use those three words ‘I love you’ and I hope you don’t think that means I don’t mean it or that I don’t fully understand the gravity the phrase holds, because I do. My ‘I love you’ ‘s don’t come from a place filled with rainbows, teddy bears and all things pink, they come from the immense gratitude I have for you for helping me to experience a warmness I would have otherwise missed. I know my definition of love will undoubtedly change several times before I leave this life but right now and for the last eight months you have become my own personal definition of love. Although we’re no longer together and by some people’s social standards we never were I still carry you everywhere with me, in everything I do and will continue to do so long after this thing between us eventually fizzles out. You have become so much more to me than I could have ever imagined and you mean so much more to me than any ‘boyfriend’ who came before (LOL sexual innuendo), but in all seriousness you have become a best friend and confidant to me and that holds a great deal more significance than any social label ever could. I don’t know how we put up with each other sometimes but I know my love for you has no expiree date and I’ll always be there for you when you need me –if you take anything from this letter, make it that. ^I feel like all this sounds so serious and over the top and we’re so silly and anything but serious when we’re together, sometimes we’re just plain embarrassing LOLLOLLOL but I just wanted to get down on paper how much you mean to me so that if you ever forget how amazing you are you can read this and remember that you have impacted my life in amazing ways. We’ve had our ups and downs but every now and again something comes along that’s worth fighting for and this is one of them. Love always, Nikki 70

Stuart Walford & Domenic Coloca Stuart: Visual Merchandiser for Australian label Alistair Trung, has styled shows in Rosemount Australian Fashion Week and editorial work for marie claire Australia aswell as styling Strangetalk the band for Promos and EP.

The shoot was inspired by our trip to Japan in early November of last year, We spent most our time in Tokyo were we got to suss out the locals and most importantly the style. We found that wherever we went fashion our at least style was an integral part of the Japanese lifestyle, from the way Parents dressed there toddlers to cool granny’s you just wished you were friends with and then all the in between. We were lucky enough to be able to purchase quite a bit of Japanese designer clothing, from the likes of Comme des Garçons, Issey Miyake, Yohji Yamamoto and also a few found vintage treasures. It was in our final days when we were on Shinkansen (Japanese bullet train) from Kyoto to Osaka when we thought of collating a few of our favourite pieces and photograph them in a casual relaxed style to which we thought suited the cut of most of the clothing. Displaying the pieces in an ‘androgynistic’ manner with out over complicating the photos or the clothing, made for a imperfect perfection which is the best way to describe the Style off the streets of Toyko.

Domenic: Studies Balchelor of Design in Fashion at RMIT, works for a Melbourne Boutique working with Parisian and Japanese labels and styled Strangetalk for Promo’s alongside Stuart

YOUTH IN REVOLT

This issue we played with sex and sexuality and it resulted in some pretty interesting projects. At the beginning of the month to help us get in the mood (pun intended) to explore what can sometimes be a touché subject we planed out some fun activities for ourselves. First we baked and decorated cunt and cock shaped cupcakes (which unfortunately didn’t turn out the way we envisioned but still tasted delicious and were a giggle fest to create) the other was producing a how to put a condom on for dummies and a how to do a pregnancy test for dummies which was a real laugh too! Check out our final products out, don’t judge!

Sex Ed: YOUTH IN REVOLT

Youth in Revolts guide to safe sex for dummies.

Step 1. Open condom (if you can’t master this I’d just turn

the page now).

Step 2. Put the condom on the penis. This really couldn’t be anymore straightforward.

Step 3. Make sure the condom is on comfortably and securely. -Now that wasn’t so hard was it?

78

YOUTH IN REVOLT

If you can’t follow the simple steps listed above you might find yourself following these steps instead: Step 1. Position pregnancy test so the end is directly in line with where your flow will fall.

Step 2. Keep it there till you feel satisfied you’ve urinated on it enough for it to give you a result, watch out for your hands.

Step 3. How long you have to wait for the result depends on the test, the one we used took two minutes. One line means you’re fine, two lines means alarm bells. -Avoid this completely by following our three step guide to using a condom or using some other form of contraception. Safe sex isn’t that hard and hey, practice makes perfect! 79
