think of my late grandmother, hobbling along as she
make always reminds me of my childhood and Now that my grandmother is getting older and
mostly bedridden, her meals are prepared by her children. Occasionally, in our home, we still have
cornmeal porridge, but only my father knows how to recreate it exactly as my grandma used to.
During my primary school years, my grandmother in Macau fell ill, and my mother sent me to Macau for two weeks to take care of
her. My grandmother didn't know what I liked to eat, so she used an electric rice cooker to steam a plate of pork chops for me.
When I was a child, our family was not well-off, and I didn't have
many opportunities to eat pork chops. This was the first time I had steamed pork chops, and I found them absolutely delicious. The memory of that meal still lingers with me to this day.
Reflecting on my childhood, I seldom had the chance to
spend time with my grandfather. When I did visit him, he always lovingly prepared my favourite dishes, including
winter melon soup. After my grandfather passed away, I
started trying to cook for myself and realised that making winter melon soup is not as simple as just putting all the
ingredients in a pot. I miss him so much every time I cook winter melon soup.

HKFYG HIGHLIGHTS:VOLUNTEERING
This experience will remain vividly in my memory for a lifetime. The working spirit of the team has profoundly changed my perspective on the power of teamwork. The unity and dedication of everyone working together, committing themselves, and putting in efforts to successfully host the equestrian event, were truly inspiring.

HKFYG HIGHLIGHTS
neighbourhoodfirst.hkfyg.org.hk The Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups will hold its annual “Neighbourhood First Chinese New Year Reunion Lunch.” A total of 100 teams from the Federation will set up over 300 banquet tables across Hong Kong. Young people from all districts will show the spirit of caring for their neighbours to bring warmth and blessings to low-income families, individuals living alone, and ethnic minorities among others, constructing a community of caring and inclusiveness.
The NEIGHBOURHOOD First is a community-building project that encourages young people to care and support their neighbours. It incorporates the components of youth leadership training, voluntary services, online connectivity and district collaborations. With young people leading the way, the aim is to bring the community together, cultivate a sense of neighbourhood and emphasise the importance of civic responsibility and care.
