Initial Setup power on control panel
Tap the control panel to begin. The system may take a few minutes to load.
Select the input you would like to use. The screen will then lower from the ceiling and the projector will turn on automatically.
You will now be able to use the touch screen control panel to select and change devices, adjust the volume level, use the lectern microphone and adjust room lighting. There may be a 5 - 8 second delay when changing inputs and levels, this is normal.

The Control Panel The control panel is the central place where all the inputs and sound levels are controlled from. To select an input or change volume simply touch the icons on the built in touch screen.

Device Selection All the devices you need can be selected from

Microphone Control Control the volume level of the Lectern

Microphone by holding + or -

Volume Control
Control the volume level by holding the + or until the sound level is correct.
Lighting Control Change the lighting level to one of four optimal settings.
System Off
At the end of your session
At the end of your session simply log out (PC), Remove Media (DVD & Blu-ray), turn off the visualiser or disconnect your external device then press POWER OFF on the control panel. The system will then automatically shut down.

How to set up: Lectern Microphone To use the lectern microphone turn it on via the red button on the front
There is also a switch on the back of the lectern microphone, this must also be on in order for the microphone to work. If you would like to use a hand held microphone or a lapel microphone you can book one in advance by emailing Media Services.
Please give a couple of days notice. Booked microphones will be left in the lectern Cupboard.
Once turned on you can adjust the volume of the microphone by holding + or - on the panel until the microphone is at the correct level.

How to set up: Lighting
You can adjust the lighting in this room to suit your needs. Simply select the lightbulb on the side of the control panel.
A menu will pop up at the side of the display with four lighting options. Simply tap the setting you would like to use. Lights Fully On.
Lights dimmed slightly.
Lights the entire room, however makes it difficult to see the image on screen.
Slightly less harsh than 100% but still a little too bright for perfect viewing.
All Lights turned off.
Lights dim around seating area, off around screen.
Perfect for viewing the screen in total darkness.
Screen is dark but the seating area is slightly illuminated. Perfect for note taking.

How To Set Up: University Devices Select the device that you would like to use via the touch screen control panel. If you want to connect your own device please read How To Set Up: External Devices
DVD & Blu-ray
PC
Select Lectern PC on the control panel then switch the PC monitor on.
Select Blu-ray on the control panel, Insert your DVD or Blu-ray disc into the player then close the disk drive.
Then log in to your YSJ account. Control the player using the on screen controls on the panel.
Visualiser
(Overhead Projector) Turn on the Visualiser. This will take a few moments to load.
CD Player Select CD on the control panel then insert your audio cd into the player.
Then select Visualiser on control panel and place a document on viewer.
Control the device using the control panel.
Twist dial on the top to zoom in and out. Press the white button to focus image

How To Set Up: External Devices Select the device that you would like to use via the touch screen control panel.
Laptop via VGA.
Laptop Via HDMI. Connect one end of an HDMI cable to external device, the other end into the HDMI port next to the control panel
Connect the VGA cable to your laptop’s VGA Slot and connect the audio cable into the headphone slot.
HDMI Cables are left in the lectern cupboard.
The cable is provided for you and should be connected to the system and the control panel. If you cannot see the cable you will be able to find it in the lectern cupboard.
Then select HDMI on the control panel Select Lectern Laptop on the panel
For non university devices connected via HDMI make sure the volume is turned up on the device. Then use the volume dial on the panel to adjust the sound level.

Troubleshooting If you are having any issues with getting a specific device to work please re-read through the instructions carefully to check that you have set the device up correctly. If you have followed the instructions in this guide but are still experiencing difficulties, please do not try to solve the problem yourself. Please contact Media Services immediately
