Family OUTDOOR SCULPTURE BUILDING: COME RAIN, COME SHINE 19 FEB, 9 & 16 APR, 28 MAY 11.00–12.00 & 13.30–14.30 / £3 (AIMED AT ALL AGES) Immerse yourself in an imaginative world of sculpture making. Work and play together to build sculptures inspired by artists in the Park.

LINES OF COLOUR: TEXTILE, PRINT, SCULPTURE AND LAND 17 & 24 MAR (TWO-DAY EVENT) 11.00–16.00 / £40 (AIMED AT AGE 8+) Experiment with printing, ancient Japanese shibori dyeing techniques, and stitching to develop your own unique artwork full of colour, print and texture, and achieve an Explore Arts Award.

WORDS OF PARADISE 23 FEB / 11.00–15.30 / £20 (AIMED AT AGE 10+) What would paradise on earth look like? Join local writer Becky Cherriman and sculptor Saad Qureshi for a day of creative writing and imagining. Taking inspiration from the art and landscape of the Park, create, share and experiment with ideas to craft your own paradise of words, and achieve a Discover Arts Award.

LITTLE EXPLORERS FOR UNDER 5s 28 MAR, 25 APR & 30 MAY 10.30–12.00 & 13.00–14.30 / £3 (AIMED AT UNDER 5s) Let our artists take you and your little one on an imaginative adventure to visit a sculpture near the Hidden Forest. Skip, jump and even puddle-splash back to the Hidden Forest to investigate, play and make discoveries together.

THE TREES FROM THE WOOD: FAMILY DRAWING 24 FEB / 11.00–16.00 / FREE / DROP IN (AIMED AT ALL AGES) Drop into our light-filled Underground Gallery for free inspiring and imaginative family drawing activities. Supported by a specialist artist, compose, capture and stretch your thinking through drawing ideas to discover Giuseppe Penone’s thoughtful and mesmerising artwork. TALES FROM THE GALLERY: STORYTELLING FOR UNDER 5s 3 MAR / 10.00–10.45 & 11.15–12.00 / £3 (AIMED AT UNDER 5s) Join us for interactive and immersive storytelling in the gallery. Move, make and imagine together as the story inspired by the wonder of Giuseppe Penone’s exhibition unfolds.

SEASONAL FAMILY SCULPTURE WALK: SPRING 30 MAR / 11.00–13.00 & 14.00–16.00 / £3 (AIMED AT AGE 6+) Discover sculptures, draw outside and notice the natural world waking up from its winter slumber. Make some memories as a family and celebrate the start of spring. THE ARTCART 30 & 31 MAR, 19–22 APR, & 25 MAY 11.00–16.00 / FREE (AIMED AT ALL AGES) Roll up, roll up: the ARTcart is popping up again! Take part in some art making, art thinking and art playing with your family. Look out for us as we move throughout the Park – just ask a member of staff to point you in the right direction.


Wellbeing MAKE YOURSELF AT HOME: FAMILY STUDIO SPACE 7–9 APR, 14–16 APR & 21–23 APR 11.00–16.00 / FREE / DROP IN (AIMED AT ALL AGES) Make, draw, construct, play, imagine and have fun in our Garden Studio. Explore ideas inspired by current exhibitions at YSP and be your own artist. SCULPT, KNIT & IMAGINE: FAMILY WORKSHOP 13 APR / 11.00–16.00 / £20 (AIMED AT AGE 8+) Work with visiting artist Connor Shields to explore how knitting, bricks and concrete can become sculpture, and investigate his exhibition through drawing and creative making. Young people will achieve their Discover Arts Award as part of the workshop. HIDDEN FOREST OPEN DAY 13 & 20 APR / 11.00–16.00 FREE / DROP IN (AIMED AT UNDER 5s) Adventure awaits in the Hidden Forest, our outdoor space for our youngest visitors. Jump, laugh, make, sing, and explore your right to play. MUSEUMS AT NIGHT: AN AFTER-HOURS ADVENTURE 17 MAY / 17.00–19.00 / £5 (AIMED AT AGE 6+) Spend time together enjoying the Park after hours, as the sculptures go to sleep. Investigate Kimsooja’s exhibition To Breathe, a room of mirrors and light, and experience the outdoor sculptures on an early evening sculpture stroll full of drawing, making and playing.

ART AND SOCIAL FOR OVER 55s 28 FEB, 28 MAR, 25 APR & 30 MAY 14.00–16.00 / £7.50 Join us for tea, coffee and cake, followed by a look around the exhibitions, a gentle walk, or perhaps a drawing or making activity – tell us what you like and we’ll try to make it happen. Whether you come alone or with a friend, we guarantee a warm welcome. MINDFUL WALK: INTO THE LIGHT 2 MAR / 10.00–12.00 / £20 Experience art and landscape in a different way through mindful meditation. Guided by a mindfulness expert, this walk will open your senses to everything the Park has to offer. MINDFUL MOMENTS ON SLOW ART DAY: TO BREATHE 6 APR / 09.00–10.30 / £15 A unique opportunity to take part in an intimate ‘slow viewing’ of Kimsooja’s installation To Breathe in the Chapel. Experience a private viewing of this remarkable installation of mirrored surfaces and refracted light and make your own discoveries through quiet contemplation. MUSEUMS AT NIGHT: NIGHTFALL IN THE WOODS 17 MAY / 20.30–22.30 / £17 Tune into the rhythm of the natural world and take the chance to soak in the sights, sounds and smells of twilight in the beautiful woodland and historic parkland of YSP.

FROM CHAPEL TO CHAPEL: THE FAMILIES OF BRETTON 23 MAR / 14.00–17.00 / £9.50 Find out more about the families of the Bretton Estate, and how they used YSP’s Chapel, St Bartholomew’s, and the nearby Bretton Chapel in Silkstone. Travel and light refreshments included.

YINKA SHONIBARE CBE CURATES THE ARTS COUNCIL COLLECTION: BEHIND THE SCENES 3 APR / 18.30–19.30 / £8 (GUESTS £10) Join Beth Hughes, Curator of the Arts Council Collection, for a preview of Yinka Shonibare CBE’s curated exhibition, Criminal Ornamentation, before it opens to the public. Beth will shed light on her experience of working with Shonibare to develop the show, revealing how and why he chose the works he did.

AN INTRODUCTION TO THE BRETTON ESTATE: WALK & TALK 6 APR & 4 MAY / 14.00–15.00 / £3 Learn about the fascinating history of YSP’s grounds, once a private estate. This hour-long walk focuses on the features and characters associated with the development of this unique place. ART & HISTORY CONNECTED: HERITAGE WALK 20 APR / 14.00–16.00 / £3 Discover the history of the Bretton Estate and the connections between YSP’s history, art and the landscape. Explore influences from Ancient Greece, Roman architecture and 17th-century French landscape painters, which all contributed to the Park we see today. MUSEUMS AT NIGHT: TWILIGHT LAKE WALK 17 MAY / 19.30–21.00 / £7 Join our Heritage Team on a guided twilight walk to explore the rich history of the YSP landscape. Enjoy a walk and talk around the Park’s historic lakes to discover the interesting follies that surround them.

A TIMELINE OF SCULPTURE WALKING TOUR 3 MAY / 11.00–12.30 / £5 (GUESTS £7) Join volunteer, Kathryn Barnes, for a tour of the open air. Placing key sculpture into historical context, the tour will take in a range of works on display at the Park, and explore their wider impact on the world of contemporary sculpture.

Workshops BOTANICALS: SPRING BLOSSOM 18 MAY / 10.00–16.00 / £85 A magical, relaxing day gathering and drawing plants whilst learning about their medicinal properties. Led by medical herbalist, Sue Salmon and botanical artist, Talya Baldwin. WAX CASTING 18–19 MAY / 10.00–16.00 / £165 Explore the possibilities of working in wax, led by artist Liadin Cooke, to create your own sculpture using casting as a method of production.


Talks & Tours PETER RANDALL-PAGE RA IN CONVERSATION WITH PETER MURRAY 21 FEB / 19.00 / £10, YSP MEMBERS £8 Peter Randall-Page RA returns to YSP to talk in depth about his work with the Park’s Executive and Founding Director, Peter Murray CBE, who has known the artist for 30 years.

SPRING POETRY WALK: PENONE’S WRITINGS 27 APR / 11.00–13.00 / £5 A beautiful spring walk interspersed with poems, contemplations, text and writings from Giuseppe Penone, shared by performance artist Natalie Bellingham.

GIUSEPPE PENONE IN CONVERSATION 1 MAR / 19.00 / £10, YSP MEMBERS £8 Join Giuseppe Penone, one of the most eminent artists working today, as he discusses his work, influences and the inspiration behind his exhibition A Tree in The Wood with YSP Director of Programme, Clare Lilley.

RSPB DAWN CHORUS WALK 4 MAY / 07.00–08.30 / FREE Join RSPB experts on this early morning walk through the Park to identify some of Britain’s birds by their song.

THE POACHER’S LAMENT & OTHER HALF HEARD TALES: LAUNCH EVENT 20 MAR / 18.30–19.30 / FREE Celebrate the spring equinox and the launch of Dillan Marsh and Eleanor Clare’s new GPS audio artwork, by embarking on a guided sound procession, led by two masked, mythological gatekeepers. DILLAN MARSH AND ELEANOR CLARE: MEET THE ARTISTS AND POP-UP EXHIBITION 23 & 24 MAR / 11.00–16.00 FREE / DROP IN Drop in at the Boat House to meet Dillan Marsh and Eleanor Clare, and try out their GPS artwork, The Poacher’s Lament & Other Half Heard Tales. YINKA SHINIBARE CBE: IN CONVERSATION 16 MAY / 18.30 / £12, YSP MEMBERS £10 A special opportunity to hear Yinka Shonibare CBE discuss Criminal Ornamentation within the context of his wider practice. Shonibare will share his thoughts with Beth Hughes, Curator of the Arts Council Collection. DIVERSITY WITHIN THE ARTS: INCLUSION AND INTERSECTIONALITY 17 MAY / 10.00–16.30 / £20 Bringing people together to think about theoretical and practical settings for arts education, this event highlights the importance of using research as a theoretical base for thinking and practice in visual arts education. SUNSET IN THE SKYSPACE 17 MAY / MEAL 17.00–19.00, SUNSET FROM 20.00 / £15 Experience James Turrell’s tranquil Deer Shelter Skyspace at sunset and gaze at the sky as the evening light illuminates the chamber. Includes a delicious meal in YSP Restaurant, which can be ordered any time between 5pm and 7pm.
