METAMORPHOSIS

Illustrated by Chia Yuan Hong

One morning, when Grandma woke up, she found it very difficult to move around. She looks around her room, where everything appears normal.

"Why can't I get down from the bed? What's happening to me? I can't feel my leg." She thought. She quickly realises that she can't breathe, her skin was dry, but she can't scream out for help

"Something smells so bad" Anna smells a strong fishy smell while she is preparing breakfast. Anna found the smells came from grandma's room. "Ma, Ma? Are you ok? Something smells so bad!" She calls through the door, but no respond.

Anna then opens the door and realizes that grandma has turned into a giant, stinky fish.

Horrified, Anna screams out and quickly realizes that grandma is unable to breathe and her skin was so dry.

Anna then takes a lot of wet cloth and covers on grandma; this helps her finally able to breathe and wet her skin.

"Is that grandma? She smells so bad!" said Austin, Anna's child. Very quickly, Anna's husband also comes by and knows what happened.

"We got to do something" said Anna to her husband. "The only thing we could do is to buy a big fish tank, a fish tank this big must not be affordable for us." Anna's Husband said after his short thoughts. Hereby, all family members realize that grandmahas turned into this big fish.

Since the wet cloth will dry out very quickly, Anna needs to change the wet cloth constantly in order to keep the skin of grandma moist and breathe smoothly. From then on, Anna made it a routine to take care grandma, and Anna has to give up her friends gathering.

Anna changes the cloths for grandma as usual, and after that, Anna have dinner with her family. "That thing! Really takes up space! When son grows up, he will need his own room!" Anna said to her husband.

One day, grandma accidentally fell out of bed and accidentally slammed the door open. "Shut that door! Austin! That thing smells so bad!" Anna doesn't allow Austin to open that door.

"Don't you know you are smelly! Why did you open the door?!" Impatient Anna said, then closed the door vigorously.

"Dad, mom! When will this day pass? Is that stinky thing really my grandma? I hope the thing will die soon!" the child said. "If it were grandma, she would definitely not want to see us so hard!' Mother agreed.

The family had planned for an outing, but was forced to cancel because someone needed to take care of grandma.

"What now, then? Who am I? " Grandma looked around in the darkness while listening to everything outside the door. Her breathing gradually weakened.

The next morning, people in the family found that big fish had died. Anna felt guilty for her behaviour. The child knew that his grandma had passed away, and his father shed tears.
