1.0 INTRODUCTION My name is Yucheng Yang, I come from China and I am a level three student of architecture in univeristy of Melbourne. I have nerver touched the related things about architecture and designing before the university therefore, it is quite chanllging me in first year when I am studying designing environment. And then, in level two, I take the water and earth studio respectively. I graduatlly learned about formating ideas and devloping it and turning the idea into the design project. I am happy to choose the majoy. Before, I think that those people who study architecture must have high level of drawing skills. They design the building through their drawings. Now I realized that hand drawing is a good technic for helping your design, however, the digital design is more advanced that helping designer to show theri ideas perfetly. Like what we do in this studio, the algorithmic drawing. Before I have used sketch up and Rhino to helping my design and I found they are both convenient tool and now the grasshopper, more effective tool. I hope I can learn it well and using it to help improve my project.

A.1 DESIGN FUTURING My experience and thinkings with Pokemon Go: Pokemon Go is a game that really need players to engage to the real world rather than just play the game on the phone. I think this is the most difference and the key of successful for the game. People are going outside seeking for collecting Pokemon in every places in the city. This may lead to someone go to the places they may not know or have not been there before. Through the game, people can realize the city deeply and more understand of the environment they are living in.
Figure 6: Pokemon Go Map in Melbouren
I think this game perfectly interact the “game”and “actual world” to a whole system. Sometimes when you open your camera to catch Pokemon in real place it seems you are doing a mission rather than playing games. Because of collecting Pokemon, people are going everywhere to walk around the urban city, which I think is a advantages for players. Playing games are no longer sitting at home, stare at the screen, it also can be walk around in our city and discover it. Therefore, the game give players a new feeling of playing games in real world and it is beyond the game itself. People can think more about what they have in real life. Through playing games, they realized that some places I have never been here before, but they are attractive and interesting, why I even do not know the places? They may thanks for the games that give them a opportunity to discovery the urban.

I catch my first Pikachu in seaford beach, I never been here before, but the place are really attractive. My friends and I just take the train to travel around to find some suprise Pokemon, finally got one!

My experience
These two rouths shows the way of going to uni from our home of my friend and I. We can see that normally, we choice the nearest way going to uni which is blue line, and when we are playing the game, we are trying to catch more pokemons so we choose to walk around the city first and then go to uni. We both across through the state library and melb centural and then he arrive uni pass the elizabath street and I choose swanston street. We are both entend our journey.
Baharash Architecture was appointed as Lead Designer for Phase 2 of Dubai Sustainable City
CASE STUDY Figure 8&9
Dubai Sustainable City consists of a Mixed Use Zone, A Juma Mosque, an Institute for Ecological Engineering, a museum & planetarium, a “Green School for K-6, an Eco-Resort, Country Club and Equestrian Centre
DUBAI LAND ANNOUNCED THEIR PLANS TO BUILD THE SUSTAINABLE CITY, THE FIRST NET ZERO ENERGY CITY IN DUBAI. In my opinion, the Dubai Sustainable City is a perfect example for future designing. I t is the first residential community that meet the highest environmental standards. We may see many sustainable buildings used for public such as library, museum, working places, or even some of the apartment, however, I think the the future design would more intent to achieve the sustainable in all residential buildings. This is simply because the residential buildings are the buildings that people spend the most of their times. And these kinds of buildings have large numbers than the public buildings. Why it is called sustainable city and why it is the example of future design? I think the city adopting a sustainable approach that become the example of global environmental protection. Tony Fry in his book “Design Futuring said that many deign practices adopted over the past century have been linked with environmental degradation for the sake of development. This means that the modernization lead us into a state of defuturing. How to change this situation? This sustainable city give us some good demonstrate. The Dubai Sustainable City passes three main pillars of sustainability: environmental, economic and social. For instance, the City will be powered by 600,000 Square Feet of Solar Cells. Futuring design should more focus on solving problems of the residents. They are the master of city, the places where they live must intend to achieve sustainability development.
A.2 DESIGN COMPUTATION Blook’hood Reflection The game blook hood is the not the first game I have played to construction a building, but it is the first game that I should consider precisely of input and output to find the balance of the building and then make it work. Figure 10: Blook hood game It is quite difficult when I first try to playing cause I usually can not find the balance between input and output. The game I have played is simply put the material and the building is done. People should analyze what the inputs they have, what they can use these inputs to make what outcomes or outputs. I think it is a great game that architecture student should play. The process is similar to our computing design to some extend. We have to try different methods to make the output become what we want, if it is failure, and try another way again until we obtain the desire outputs. I like the way that breaks down a complex system into different parts, because it is clear for me to analyze the problems when the outcome is not desired.
CASE STUDY Figure 11-13

Absolute Tower MAD Architects Mississauga, Ontario, Canada 2012
Figure 14: Computation design of the tower
In my mind, I have not seen a tall buildings like this. The tower have aesthetics value on its shapes because in modern world, the high rise building are homogenous with linear structures. The tower gives a fresh feeling to all peoples, from the figure 11 we can see that the building has high distinguished from others. The building I think give the city more energy and vitality because it no longer all the building are homogenous which are quite boring for people who live in the city. In modern society, we more focus on the efficiency of building so, they always build linear structure. This tower give us an new idea. What should the future design be? I do not think we should keep the high-rise building always linear structure, we should have some changes. The tower has different view from different perspective which give people visual impact. I think this kind of building is what we needed in future designing rather than boring, lack of beauty’s building.
Figure 15&16
I was wondering how it can achieve this shape and now I understand the computation design can help designer to do so. Designer can adjust different parameter to change the shapes and find one they desired. And I tried use the grasshopper to make the shape and here are my some attempts. I found that we can just change the graph mapper and can obtain many different shapes. It is really usefull. Figure 17: Plan
A.3 COMPOSITION/GENERATION Rosario Habitat In therms of this city planning project, a group of planners trying to improve the live environment in Rosario, but what method should they use to achieve their goals? The planners want to solve the problems between the designers and the citizens. They want to meet their requirements and needs. A big part of the design task is in the hands of inhabitants work together and compete each other in workshop that is deigned to be a big game.(Lerner 2010) Through the game, the designers and people are both need to engage. Therefore, the problems could be solved. It is a effective strategy I think, inhabitants are the master of this area of land, they are the group of people have long living experience in there, so they know what they need and require. Through the game, lots of problems may be solved by people themselves. It is like a democracy system and everyone is equal in that rules. Designers are the group of people who have the skills can meet their desires. They should meet the maximum of what they need through the most effective ways using their techniques.
Therefore, the engagement of both inhabitants and planners can solve the problems. This process like a algorithm program, parametric function. People who live in the city provide their needs which is inputs of the program, designers make the rule of the program to judge whether it can be achieved or not, and through the engagement of both, the outcome is the method of problem solving. As Peters (2013) said, algorithm systems can provide fresh, brilliant ideas which can not just made by the architects. The output(results) are unpredictable.
Hidden systems
MSD (center part) Unhealth vegs which are put in advance, get one point if someone find one
About the game we are going to design next week, we are focus on the vegetation and trees health in the uni. It is quite difficult to people to judge whether it is health or not. So may be prepare some unhelth plants or death plants before the game and spread them over the uni, we can point some spot and remeber where the 's location. And set fixed game times to let people find these unhealth vegetation. Who find one will get one point and if find the wrong one will minus one point. We can design the maps using grasshopper, set the actual buildings on it and put the points(unhealth vegs) through it.
A.4 CONCLUSION The computational design in architecture that we learned in part A shows many of the benefits that using these technique to create future designing. They can help us to analyze the big data and find the rules of them. Using computation design is not only focus on single object but also for the “group of objects or data. And we could collect the data and analyze them, develop them and finally help us to design. Just like we doing the data landscape in the tutorial, every step can make varieties changes and influence the outcome. We finally choose 9 different views help us to understand, that is the attractive point of computation design. There are no fixed outcome, every design are unique and can form our own ideas.

A.5 LEARNING OUTCOMES
I have no experience of using computational design in architecture before I take the architecture studio: water in last semester and air in this semester. I have no ideas of using computer to help my design. Before I just though using hand drawing and model making to form the idea and develop the design, however, when i first touched the sketch up and rhino lat semester, it really helpful to my project, it can show more clearly of my design ideas. And in this semester, I first touched the grasshopper, anther strong and effective design tool which can help designer to form and develop idea in an program way, it is like a series of process and focus on not only single line or curve but also in a large number and scale which really helpful to some aspects, for example, we are doing the data landscape in tutorial. We obtain many landscape and we could use it to analyze the topography on the site, which I have never used before, therefore, the software can help me for the designing. Also, the benefits of computational design will influence me the way I am designing and thinking about the ideas of future design as well.
