WEEK 3 READING: LEGER, LE CORBUSIER, AND PURISM

Question 1: What is Pictorial Space according to Le Corbusier? (Maximum 100 words) le Corbusier state that pictorial space “cannot be entered or criculated through; it is irremediably space viewed from a distance, and is therefore eternally resigned to frontality.” This means it is a space that can be observed from a distance and viewed in that perspective.

Question 2: The Flatness of Le Corbusier’s painting’s are attributable to two properties. What are they? And what are these pitted against?(Maximum 100 words) The flatness of Le Corbusier’s painting can attribute two things-- colour and texture. The first roperty pitted against the use of black since black can create a scence of 3D form. On the other hand, the texture pitted against the contour of the object.

WEEK 4 READING: AXONOMETRIC PROJECTION

Question 1: Explain the difference between Pictoral (in this case perspectival) space and Projection? (Maximum 100 words) Pictoral space is more of a colsed space and it is more subjective. It has vanishing point. However, it can present the authenticity of the object. However, projection does not have vanishing point, reflect the spatial image realistically and, more importantly, it is mesurable.

Question 2: Where did Axonometric projection first arise, and why? (Maximum 100 words) Axonometic was first used for military purpose because it can accurately reflect the real distance.
