omo is a Japanese restaurant & bar with the Modern Izakaya & Gourmet Cocktail concept. The interior inside is quite lovely with patterned tile floor, catchy artwork on the wall with a stylish woman wearing kimono, sunglasses and Channel ‘look a like’ bag is picking ‘Momo’ fruits (in Japanese ‘Momo’ means peach). Price range for the beverages between IDR 25k to 150k: special cocktail, beer, tea, coffee, juice, soft drinks. They are currently having 11 selection of cocktail with catchy names, and they recommend me to try ‘#1’ IDR 110k and Grape in Gold IDR 110k. But because it was still early and our stomach still empty, we decided not to have any cocktail. And for the food selection: Salad, Cold dishes such as Carpaccio, Grill, Fry dishes such as Croquette, Pot (Stew/Hotpot), Pan, Rice, Noodle, Sushi and Sweets with price range between IDR 32k – 185k. The food selection were interesting,
The hotpot was delicious, beef was tender and I really like the spicy miso broth, a lil bit of sweet, spicy and savory flavor with lovely miso aroma. On the other side I wish there’s more enoki mushroom inside though.

the posh & chic Bottega Ristorante 18 -JAKARTAHUSTLER | JULY 2017

..dining in Bottega Ristorante can be pleasing both for the eyes and appetite from the food and the decor.
T
he posh and chic Bottega Ristorante recently has moved to new and bigger location in Fairgrounds SCBD, Jakarta. In the new location, Bottega Ristorante still sticks to the original concept of European theme for their decor complete with gorgeous tiles, wooden panels, marbled tables, etc. At the new location, they aim to create more casual vibes since it’s basically a casual restaurant. They want to make the restaurant casually more comfortable and less intimidating since the products are considered to be reasonably priced. In case if you don’t know, Bottega Ristorante is the sister restaurant of the beautiful Wilshire and relatively newly opened Rock Paper Scissor. As for the food, Bottega Ristorante offers European Fusion cuisine, customers certainly won’t run out of options since there are lots of option to choose from European dishes such as Pasta, Risotto, Pizza, etc, even Mexican, Brazillian, or Asian food are served there.
The hotpot was delicious, beef was tender and I really like the spicy miso broth, a lil bit of sweet, spicy and savory flavor with lovely miso aroma. On the other side I wish there’s more enoki mushroom inside though.
Recommended Menu : Steak Tacos With Corn Salsa (IDR 119k) These steak tacos exactly meet our expectations. It consists of house made fresh tacos, grilled steak, guacamole. The ingredients were nice and fresh ingredients then steak also was cooked perfectly to medium level with tender juicy texture. Porcini Coffee Rubbed Steak (IDR 295k) One of the best selling dishes in Bottega Ristorante that certainly can satisfy the meat lovers, 300g USDA prime sirloin rubbed in dried porcini and arabica coffee then grilled and served with charred leeks.

here’s your favorite place for chocolate and cake? Everytime we receive this question, the name of BetterChocolateThanNever instantly hits our minds, it’s our favorite chocolate boutique and recently BetterChocolateThanNever has relocated from Senopati to new location Panglima Polim IV. As the name suggests, chocolate is their specialty, therefore you can find variety of chocolate creations such as mini cakes, whole cakes, pie, ice cream, truffle, etc, but recently they have added several new menus too in case the customer need something filling and savory, all made with love with natural and healthy ingredients. Their new location is LOVE!! We instantly fell in love with the clean, elegant and classy decor with high ceiling and clean bright white walls. we have been a big fan of BetterChocolateThanNever products since 2013, their Black Forest Cake is still the best in town for us personally up until now.
Overall, the quality and taste of Better Chocolate Than Never’s products simply never disappoint, everything we had was good, we must say that it’s still one of the best place in town for chocolate and cakes.
Recommended Menu : Baby Black (IDR 42k) Many of you have asked us recommendation for cakes and most of the time we always recommend Black Forest Cake from BetterChocolateThanNever. Available in whole cake or mini baby cake, the Black Forest cake consistently tastes delicious. Baby Hazelnut (IDR 42k) It might look simple but it tastes muchhhhh better than the look. N
ew in town, Rock Paper Scissors is a modern Japanese bistro located in the East Building, Mega Kuningan, South Jakarta, managed by the same group with Bottega Ristorante and Wilshire. Compared to the two sister restaurants with lavish decor, Bottega Ristorante and Wilshire, RPS has a more casual decor with two areas, indoor and outdoor, for the indoor area there’s a dedicated coffee bar while the outdoor area has a nice glass house concept with eye catching large bar on the side. To entertain the guests, RPS provides live bands on Wednesday and DJs on Friday & Saturday every week. As for the food, serving Yoshoku dishes or Japanese dishes influenced by Western styles of cooking, you can find various unique modern dish creations by the the head chef Cla Lisca along with wide range of wine, liquor and cocktails curated by mixologist Nick Lim.
Overall, We had a pleasant first impression to Rock Paper Scissors, great coffee, nice ambiance, as for the food some were decent but some were memorable enough that make us want to go back.
Recommended Menu : Seaweed Fried with Truffle Aioli (IDR 65k) A perfect combination that simply cannot go wrong! Nicely golden fried shoestring fries tossed with savory seaweed or nori flakes and then served with creamy truffle aioli. Seriously sooo good and addictive! Sponge Cake with Miso Glazed (IDR 50k) The miso glaze was genius, great consistency with delightful sweet salty aroma and subtle hint of miso aroma, however for the cake, instead of sponge cake, the texture was very dense and crumbly, luckily they serve it with vanilla ice cream so it can help moisten the cake a bit.

Yo uT u b e Suc c e ss Storie s:
PewDiePie, Went from Zero to Most Subscribed Some people might wonder what makes PewDiePie so special and successful. Let’s find out.
F
elix Kjellberg, aka PewDiePie, is the undisputed champion on YouTube. No one can match his 55 million YouTube subscribers. Playing games, making comedy videos, and entertaining his “Bro Army” is what PewDiePie does on a daily basis. However, with thousands of YouTube channels in the gaming niche alone, one might wonder what makes PewDiePie so special and successful.
24 -JAKARTAHUSTLER | JULY 2017
It wasn’t until very recently that gaming on YouTube could even be considered a legitimate career. Pewds certainly contributed to the expansion of the gaming community by launching his YouTube channel and then taking it to the next level. He found his first success playing video games and commenting on them Felix may now have the 55 million strong “Bro Army” backing him, but his beginnings were quite simple and humble. Let’s take a peek into PewDiePie’s early beginnings on YouTube.
The first lesson you can learn from PewDiePie is that you should always believe in yourself: • Pewds gave up the pursuit of an Industrial Economics degree: The idea of him playing video games as a career wasn’t at all supported by his parents. You can imagine how thrilled they were when he pursued YouTube and gave up pursuing an Industrial Economics degree at Chalmers University of Technology in Sweden. • “Let’s Play-er” since 2010: He launched his YouTube channel on April 29, 2010, thus kickstarting his career on YouTube. • Pewds worked at a hot dog stand: In order to fund his production equipment, PewDiePie worked at a hot dog stand. • The artist: He also had to sell his creations as a Photoshop Artist. They’re surprisingly good.
Unlike many 20-year-olds obsessed with playing video games, Felix had a plan.
Pewds is not planning on giving his seat up any time soon, either. In fact, he doesn’t even have to worry about it as the second-most subscribed to YouTube channel is trailing him by over 24 million subscribers; HolaSoyGerman only has a “mere” 31 million subscriptions.
"
PewDiePie’s early beginnings on YouTube
..While selling his art, and hotdogs, PewDiePie continued to record video game walkthroughs and filmed his reactions whilst playing them. Pewds is not planning on giving his seat up any time soon, either. In fact, he doesn’t even have to worry about it as the second-most subscribed to YouTube channel is trailing him by over 24 million subscribers; HolaSoyGerman only has a “mere” 31 million subscriptions.
THE PATH TO FAME As PewDiePie grew as a channel, he began to be more aware of what worked and what didn’t when it came to his followers. While playing horror games, he noticed that the audience got a kick out of his over-dramatizations and reactions to the appearance of ghosts and zombies and he gave them more of it. This helped him see his channel grow: • 60,000 subscribers by December, 2011: After a year spent working on his “hobby,” he had established quite a respectable fanbase . This allowed him to quit his job at the hot dog stand. • In 2012 PewDiePie signed with Maker Studios: The multi-channel network realized that PewDiePie was more than just about shooting zombies and screaming. They signed the talented Swede. • Surpassed 5 million subscribers by February, 2013: PewDiePie was no longer just about gaming, fans got attached to Felix’s personality and his comedy sketches. This connection propelled him further than video gaming alone would have allowed. • the YouTube throne. He still reigns supreme thanks to his most subscribed-to channel. Unlike conventional jobs, making it big in this one requires the new media proficiency of businessminded kids from the smartphone generation.
W
hen she started posting travel articles and photos on her social media accounts four years ago, Kadek Arini did not imagine that her new hobby would become a rewarding profession. Now, the 25-year-old is proud to present herself as a professional travel blogger. Unlike the “conventional” writer or journalist, her title is “social media influencer,” a catchphrase unknown 10 years ago, when social media were in their infancy.
Kadek decided to quit her regular job as an interior designer in 2013 and shifted career to a media influencer, knowing she could earn enough with her hobby. Recommendations and testimonials as a way of promotion are, in fact, a traditional method of advertising. Influencers are hired because they can represent the opinions and recommendations usually given by our close social circle. According to sproutsocial.com, an online social media management specialist, 74 percent of consumers rely on social networks to guide purchase decisions. A recent Association of Indonesian Internet Providers (APJII) survey shows that almost 133 million people, or 52 percent of the country’s population, were connected to the internet in 2016.
The new profession was born out of the growing popularity of social media. As users spend more time interacting in social media, advertisers have started to spot social media users who have huge numbers of followers or “friends.”
According to the study, 90 percent of the internet users access social media platforms, meaning that more and more people will rely on social media accounts they follow to learn about new products and decide what to buy. Advertisers believe that the number of followers reflects the influencer’s credibility. Some influencers diversify their business after achieving social media celebrity status.
These users — who could be a traveler, a makeup artist, a stayat-home mom who loves cooking, a teenager or an office worker who likes to make parody videos — upload their works to social media platforms like Instagram, YouTube, Facebook or Twitter. Their large following is the result of regular postings and interesting contents that attract viewers outside their close social circle.
Elizabeth Christina, a makeup artist and beauty blogger who owns @bylizzieparra with 122,000 Instagram followers, for example, launched her own beauty brand called By Lizzie Parra (BLP) last year. A signature product is lipstick. “I rarely found lipsticks that fully satisfy me. Sometimes, I like the color but not the texture and vice versa,” she said.
Once the good stories, nice photos and funny videos have attracted many followers, then comes the law of attraction; brands will naturally also come to advertise their products.
With her legion of followers and the reputation she commands, BLP lipstick sells like hotcakes. Her company reached the breakeven point only three months after it was launched.
Unlike in the conventional media, where celebrities are hired to promote certain products, in the new media advertisers need the influencers to give their promotional testimonies and favorable personal opinions about the products.
However, it turns out that the number of followers is not the only thing that makes the account owner a media influencer and thus attracts advertisements.
“We’re supposed to try to influence our followers by sharing our personal experience of the products,” said Kadek, whose Instagram account @kadekarini boasts more than 64,000 followers. 28 -JAKARTAHUSTLER | JULY 2017
Baskoro Adiwiyono, the communications head of lowcost carrier Indonesia AirAsia, said the following size was important, but other factors, such as the owner’s engagement with followers, was equally determining.
“We sometimes pick an influencer who does not have many followers but they have a really good engagement with their followers,” he said. AirAsia usually focuses on stories that can inspire their readers when hiring influencers to promote its products. Besides posting pictures or videos, many influencers also reply to questions asked by their followers or take their advice to maintain good relations. Such gestures are rarely done by celebrities groomed by traditional media like film or television. The business continues to grow rapidly, along with the rising number of people who have smartphones, which are increasingly affordable, too. Indonesia AirAsia, for example, started to pay attention to social media in 2000 for its promotion but it only began to involve influencers in its marketing strategy three years ago. “Regarding the portion of commercial programs, it is already fifty-fifty with conventional media,” Baskoro said. However, he predicts that it will take time for social media influencers to take a bigger chunk of the commercials market from the more established industry, because they serve different purposes, and thus different audiences. Many companies still spend most of their advertising budget on television. Data analyst Nielsen reported that ad spending for TV and print media increased 24 percent in the first quarter of 2016 to Rp 31.5 trillion from Rp 25.5 trillion a year earlier. And the main contributor to growth was television.
The Rise of Influencer Ade Putri Paramadita, a consultantcum-social media influ- encer, has the same prediction. She said that, although social media influencers’ share keeps growing, they earn much less than the conventional media from ads. For example, Kadek’s price tags range from Rp 1.5 million (US$112) to Rp 2 million per Instagram post. Her clients usually pay more than Rp 4 million for a three-minute video on YouTube. Meanwhile, Lizzie charges between Rp 5 million and Rp 10 million per Instagram post. “I will ask for more for a makeup tutorial,” she said.
Although it usually takes more than a month before customers can get the products they fancy, people from across Indonesia are still keen to purchase from her virtual store. Currently, @meineweltstore has approximately 28,000 followers on Instagram. She serves around 10 customers a day, booking average sales of about Rp 70 million (US$5,250) per month, or Rp 15 million in net profit. As the social media sphere keeps developing, professional influencers may use multiple platforms to maximize their income.

11 Things You Should Know About Saving Money in Your 20s Saving money in your 20s should be a top priority for young people — but it's not. A staggering 44 percent of young millennials ages 18 to 24 have $0 in their savings accounts, or they don't have a savings account at all, found a GOBankingRates survey. No matter your age, you should have some type of savings plan so you can one day buy a house, go on a luxurious vacation or even retire when you want. money is a habit you have 01 Saving to practice. Even if you start with saving just $1 more a week, it's important to establish a savings habit while you're young. Start saving small, painless amounts and watch your savings account balance grow. You'll be building your discipline to save money — and it'll motivate you to find ways to stop wasting money. Have you ever heard the financial advice "pay yourself first"? That means you should be putting a bit of each paycheck into your savings account before bills and expenses even get close to your money. Save as little or as much as you can.
have to live below your means to 02 You save money Make sure you have more money coming in than going out. 30 -JAKARTAHUSTLER | JULY 2017
Overspending is the biggest financial problem for many, but you can control your spending by creating a budget, living a lifestyle that's realistic for your income and working toward healthy spending habits. For others, a low income might be the problem. If you're in this boat, get proactive and look for professional opportunities that can increase your paycheck, like promotions, networking, vocational training or more education.
money in your 20s is key to 03 Saving having the life you want You probably have many plans, dreams and goals, from traveling and earning a degree to buying a home and getting married. Whatever you envision for your life, more often than not you'll need money to make it happen. But money to cover those expenses doesn't just materialize — you have to save it up. Turn your dreams into realities by setting concrete savings goals.
04 An emergency fund is a must
You probably have many plans, dreams and goals, from traveling and earning a degree to buying a home and getting married. Whatever you envision for your life, more often than not you'll need money to make it happen. But money to cover those expenses doesn't just materialize — you have to save it up. Turn your dreams into realities by setting concrete savings goals.
with an emergency fund of at 05 Start least $1,000 But how much should you save for an emergency fund? Personal finance expert Dave Ramsey advises you should start out with a $1,000 emergency fund, while other personal finance experts suggest saving a few months' worth of expenses. Once you have that baseline started, work your way up to having three to six months' worth of expenses saved to cover bigger financial troubles, like unemployment or emergency medical bills.
06
Successful savers set short- and longterm savings goals Those who have great savings habits set goals and work hard to achieve them. After setting your goals — like paying for a trip or buying a home in five years — break them into smaller steps. Savers know how much they have to save each month to achieve long- and short-term savings goals, from this year all the way to retirement. And, they use those goals as motivation to stay on track and avoid unnecessary expenses.
also have a system to track and 07 They manage funds for different goals Setting a savings goal is an exercise in futility if you don't figure out a system for saving money that works for you. Stay organized, be able to quickly and easily track your progress, and make adjustments as needed. Some people track savings for different goals using a spreadsheet, while others might actually create different savings accounts or sub-savings accounts to easily keep track of funds slated for different purposes.
to save 10 percent of your 08 Shoot income While personal finance experts will have varying opinions on the appropriate amount to save, the advice to save 10 percent of your income is a good starting point.
Other guidelines suggest saving as much as 20 percent of your income, like the 50-30-20 rule that says 50 percent of income should cover needs — like rent, groceries and transportation — 30 percent should cover wants — dining out, vacations or donations — and 20 percent should go to savings or debts. Ultimately, what you can or should save will be decided by your income, expenses, debts, goals and even your location. Depending on the cost of living in your city, you might want to move to a city that's better for your budget.
have to be balanced with 09 Savings other financial goals While saving money will always be an important part of your financial health, it's not the answer to every money question. At times, your financial situation might call for you to put more of your funds toward other goals, like paying down debt, covering education or medical costs, investing or even covering day-to-day expenses when money gets tight. Once you have an emergency fund saved up, funds might be better allocated to other goals.
10 Start saving for retirement now
Start saving for retirement in your 20s, and you'll have to put away less money every month. The money you save in your 20s will be worth more in retirement than the money you'll save in your 30s or 40s. For example, a 25-year-old who saves $600 every year will have $24,000 saved up for retirement by the time they reach 65 — and that's not even including any interest earned on the balance. Meanwhile, a 35-year-old who saves at the same rate will only have only $18,000 saved up. In order to reach $24,000 by age 65, the 35-year-old would have to immediately start saving $800 a year.
is even easier when you 11 Saving automate it While saving money is a habit you can cultivate, you can also have your bank do the work for you. Many banks provide an automatic transfer option that allows you to schedule transfers from one account to another at a predetermined time. For example, you can automate $250 to your savings account on the first of every month. Alternately, you might be able to set up direct deposit through your employer to automatically funnel a portion of each paycheck into your savings account.
Saving in your 'post-teen-phase' can be a little bit hard sometimes, but nothing's wrong with starting a new habit right ? JULY 2017 - JAKARTAHUSTLER | 31

o last night I went to one of Jakarta's biggest annual event: PEKAN RAYA JAKARTA (PRJ) 2017, I have missed the event for two years and I think it's good to be check out what's in store this year, especially it's their 50th anniversary this year! To be honest I kinda expected something different, but not really sure what it is either, ok sorry I am getting so unclear but I hope you know what I mean. JIExpo is normally functioned as an exhibition spot or simply for wedding receptions, getting here's very easy actually you can drive or take taxi, but if you plan to go alone and meet your friends here, I seriously recommend taking Gojek (motor taxi) like I did last night, it's just that the queue for your cars to get in can be very crazy, but I still appreciate the management's idea to provide parking space for 10.000 cars and 20.000 motorcycles, but still if you take Gojek you can arrive right in front of the building complex and straight to the ticket queue.

ince most Jakartans are still on the holiday season, as expected, last night was SUPER PACKED that I literally felt like I was about to faint at the beginning, so I went to find the HALL areas where they're equipped with air conditioning to make me feel better (and keep me sane) but it was seriously humid. So what's so special about PRJ? Of course EVERYTHING, especially if you're a passionate shopper who never want to miss good deal as almost everything in PRJ is sold far cheaper than the normal price. Retail drinks, snacks, furnitures, cars, motorcycles, gadgets, beauty stuff whatever you name it. Literally almost everything that you're looking for is in PRJ. If you follow me on Instagram and watch my Instagram Stories you know I am quite a shopaholic (and I admit it), so I honestly didn't really go here to shop even though when I look at certain gadget prices, skin care and shit everything was crazy cheaper than normal retail prices but I didn't feel like I need something and not to mention I couldn't stand the cashier queue, I went here with my best friends just to check out stuff, but I went home with one powerbank (buy one get one deal), one iPhone lighting cable for stock (because it's fuckin expensive at their official store and I am tired of spending money to buy them!!!) and one travel charger.

One Direction Could Reunite Without Every Member The men of One Direction might have just recently splintered off into their own solo careers, but Simon Cowell said he's always "in" for any potential reunion projects in the future. "I always think of them as in the band, to be honest with you," Cowell told The Sun's Dan Wootton on his podcast Bizarre Life with Dan Wootton. "I think it's fun being out there on your own, but what I hope's going to happen is that they remember how much fun it was being in a group. ... There's nothing to stop them, if they want to, to get together for a tour, for an album. And I made it absolutely clear, obviously, we're in."
