UNFOLDED SECTION OF BUILDING WATER
UNFOLDED SECTION OF BUILDING COAL
UNFOLDED SECTION OF BUILDING MOUNT
As one of the spoiled dreaming sites on the aboriginal people's land, the closure of the Leigh Creek Coalfield would provide an opportunity for the Adnyamathanha people to reclaim and reoccupy their land. Cycling (walking) tourism is introduced as the agency for this reclamation. This theis project is about how this new type of experience is created to reclaim the mine into a place for interpretation, sharing and encountering between the Adnyamathanha people and the tourists through trails system and building design. 4

Main Route (Cycling, Walking)
Minor Trail (Walking)
The mine park is proposed to be a place for interpretation, sharing and encouring between Adnyamathanha and tourists. Bike hiring and food are provided at the entrance and facilities including restrooms, water and picnic area are located along the main route. The design of main route takes water runoff risk and spontaneous combustion risk in to account.

There are three themed sites on the route: WATER, COAL and MOUNT. Each talks about a theme related to the Adnyamathanha culture through programs, events and architectural design.
SITE 1: WATER Bush planting garden: Growing bushes to reclaim the overdump zone with knowledge of the Adnyamathanha people; Tourists are invited to help planting and collecting fruits
Bush collecting space: Local people and tourists bring what they collect from the garden and gather inside the building, talking about the stories and knowledge of water and planting, making food together with bush fruits

BUILDING WATER
Akurra the Snake
Water is important in Adnyamathanha people’s life and their culture. In their dreaming stories, Akurra the Snake carved the gorges and creates creeks and waterholes.
View towards the Leigh Creek cut off by mining process
At the first stop at WATER, tourists will move along the winding path and get the view of the Leigh Creek. Rainwater is carefully captured for drinking or planting. Tourists and the Adnyamathanha people gather around the ponds and wells to share stories and food.

BUILDING COAL
Yurlu's Coal
The story about the creation of the coal is about Yurlu the kingfisher flies to the south for a ceremony and stops at Leigh Creek. He burnt marlee sticks to make fire, which creates the coal. The design of experience is to bring people down into the centre of the pit-like infrastructure and also the middle of the mine pit. Around the fire place in the centre of the pit-like infrastructure inside the huge mine pit, stories telling is fascinated.

BUILDING MOUNT
In the dreaming stories, the two men hike along the gorges and finally climb up to the top of the mountain and rise into the sky becoming Magellenic Clouds. With multiple viewing volumes framing views of surrounding mountains and upward path, tourists get better understanding of the stories. Space for art crafts exhibition and workshop is provided to encourage aboriginal artists to go there, making art pieces, showing works and holding regular workshop, etc..

Architecture School Building is where architecture students begin their journey on seeking their interests, opinions and values. We design the interior space based on Constructivism. Rather than choose an amazing design style for the building from diversity of styles in the world, we make it stay simple and suggest more freedom and imagination for the students to develop themselves. 18

The idea of this design is to satisfy architecture students' multiple needs of space and stimulate frequent communication among different groups of students moving on floors. The building is made to be almost central symmetry, with four stairs and elevators placed at the four corners of the yards symmetrically. This indicates equality for students.

DESIGN SAMPLE FOR TYPE L-3 Many of the buildings used for linear marketing are Bamboo Houses, a kind of the traditional dwellings in Canton. Since they are long in depth, they can used as retail stores along the alleys and as workshop and residential inside. On events, they can join together and used as larger space for people visiting and gathering. Present Plan

DESIGN FOR TYPE D-2 Because the markets are now lively and noisy at 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. and at 4p.m. to 6p.m. , more facilities and activities can be introduced to make it a better public space at the rest time. In the design for TYPE D-1, I add more public space for the community and people can enjoy themselves when they go to markets, at the rest time or along their way home.

The construction and development of a future rail deck park and a large area of vacant lots in the downtown Toronto must cost great amount of money and labour. Our strategy for developing is to divide the rail deck into pieces and each of them relates to the adjacent parcels and the developer of a parcel is responsible to build and manage one piece of the rail deck with the support and also under the control of the government.

MOTION ALONG STREET Museum Comprehensive Design
Architecture Design, Spring 2017 Type: Academic Work Site: Wellington St and Portland St, Toronto Site Area: 16,000m2 Floor Area: 19,960m2
Instructor: Prof. Steven Fong Team Member: Chenxuan Meng Role in Team: Conceptual Design, Detailed Design, Structural and Mechanical System Design, Physical Model, Detailed Section Drawing
As Toronto’s Story Museum + Archive, it is proposed to continue the amazing walking experience across the site, especially from Wellington St. to the rail deck. The project focuses on what amazing experience citizens would have while walking along the street or walking through the museum. 48
CONCEPT The space and motion inside the musuem continues the interesting pedestrian system in the historic area, and besides, emphasizes the motion along Portland Street going upwards to the Rail Deck. Public-accessed area and programs inside the museum, the form of the building and the translucent glazing system are integrated to create the interaction and dynamic motion, which is expressed in the section.

In Xiguan, an old town of Guangzhou, it is common that the landlord and the several tenants live in a big old house. In this project, we design a new house for the landlord and the tenants in the old town. To response the context and surroundings, the design is based on the research of Traditional Xiguan Houses and develop with modern elements and new thinking. 54
