1.0 THREE RELATIONSHIPS 1.1 POINT / LINE / PLANE BREAK RULE INEER POWER FIGHT SAME MATERIAL

7

1.1 POINT / LINE / PLANE By crushing the normal ways of putting lines and planes perpendicularly, lines and planes are thrown randomly. There two contrasting force against with each other. The planes represent the previous rules of building and normal understanding of space. The lines stand for a strong power to crush and break all limited rules. Also, through colouring some edges of planes, it creates a feeling like the planes tend to shoe its own personalities instead by set by humans. The whole model indicate a process of breaking rules and to be your self. Drawing by Llaszlo moholy nagy

It’s a story about frame and infill. Frame was built representing universal time. Infrill like colourful paint and transparent paper bring different atmosphere and experience. But, someday the infills will all dispear, leaving frame lonely and dead.

21

1.3 MASS Overlaid lines representing complex relationships between mass and other subjects. It’s all about relationships. It all depends how you inspired. By using wet and thick paint materials at bottom, a feeling like something alive could be created. Mixing actural earth materials in paint, it could also bring new sence of touching. Large scale make it feel real and impressive.

4.0 REFLECTION

In three tectonic part, each time before I start model and drawings, deep thinking is necessary. A design is dead and meaningless without ideal. Ideal is the soul of design. Design is the representation of idea. Everything did is supposed to have strong linkage to idea. For me, most of subjects have its own language and approach to represent. Design work as drawings, models, earth book are all about communication, between you and your reader. How to represent clearly and fundamental is quite essential, which requires for professionalism. In concept development parts, how to dealing with there tectonic becomes essential and harsh. One way could be ideally combination, and the other way could be physical combination. And in mine design, it both combine some kinds of idea and some kinds of physical shape. And I tends to realise it is impossible to separate idea and physical design work completely. Besides, by combining three distinctive tectonic, the complicity of design was added, which I enjoys a lot. When it comes to final design, digital modelling and fabrication bring lots of efficiency. However, in terms mine design which either have complex idea and abstract shape. The fabrication becomes the most challenged part. Different with most of other designs, I choose to represent idea more purely and directly. Emphasising on idea of secret, human was relatively less considered. But, what is interesting is, when human walking through the pavilion, there not only just work as experiencer, but also becomes part of design, as third part of exclusion. In total, I really enjoy the whole subject and learned a lot. What I need to improve in the future is how to deal with relationships between abstract idea and real design. Besides, I will keep thinking deeply and keep challenging.
